Hi MildredH!

Roselau

So I don't exactly have GD but sort of do. So they made me take the GT and 2/3 times it came back normal, but then on the third time it was on borderline. I had a few other symptoms (extra baby juice in my belly) and glucose in my urine. .

It hasn't been that bad. I'm eating less fruit now. Funnily enough, pineapple spikes my sugar worse than a cupcake does. What is super annoying though is the stupid finger pricking. I'm supposed to be emailing a weekly dairy to my Ob and GP; but since I'm not eating fruit or anything near a cupcake I just don't want to finger prick and read my low blood sugar levels all the time. I know they are going to be within range, and yet I still have to do it. My doctors don't even think I need medication.
BohemianRaspberry · 31/10/2013 07:50

rose the gtt is inconvenient but okay. Hopefully it's just a precaution - take a book. There's no telling who gets gd - I'm high-risk supposedly and once size 10 friend isn't, but she had it with hers, I so far don't.

If you do have GD it'll mean diet control, no pills or anything and monitoring your blood sugar by prick tests - but it really does benefit baby to do this as unchecked GD babies can be unheathily bigger and need treatment as they can get poorly with it.

Hope this helps xxx don't fret xxx

The starter packs are ready to use stom you just screw the teat on and away you go.

Could scream this morning, got a midwife appt so I've got time of work for antenatal and thought if get a nice extra hour in bed.....but no, dp heard ds2 let out a tiny noise and then he went quiet and he went in to out his dummy in and obviously woke him up and with him ds1 also so I ended up getting less sleep than when I get up for work Angry

Featherbag · 31/10/2013 08:50

Quick decision-making help needed! Do I a) continue to sit on this sofa in my PJs watching DS play with toys/watch CBeebies for another couple of hours then meet mum for Christmas shopping and lunch, or b) get off my lazy arse, get both of us ready and out in the next 50 minutes to meet friends and their kids at a farm adventure place for a couple of hours before lunch and shopping? I have a headache but can't see this being improved by Mr Tumble...

PistachioTruffle · 31/10/2013 08:58

I'd stay on the sofa if I was you feather, but then I am feeling particularly lazy today!

WhisperMen · 31/10/2013 09:20

another vote for sofa. but I love the sofa and I don't think I could cope with going to a farm and christmas shopping in one day

itsliz · 31/10/2013 09:47

I vote for the sofa too, Feather - sounds like you're going to need to save all of your energy for christmas shopping later!

Welcome back, Angry! I was wondering where you'd got to! Aside from being busy, hope all's well Smile

qumquat sleep has been eluding me, too Sad Woke up every two hours last night and couldn't get back to sleep after 4! I've just put it down to being uncomfortable and not doing enough during the day to wear myself out. How long do you have until you finish work? Sounds like you could do without that extra stress at the moment...

DP treated me to a trip to the cinema last night which was nice as we haven't been in ages. He kindly booked us seats at the end so I wouldn't have to try and squeeze my bump past people or struggle to get out if I needed the loo... Only problem was that the room was much tinier than we'd imagined so there was only one way in or out of the aisle.
DP spoke to a steward, who loudly announced that everyone needed to shift along so that we could sit at the end as planned! SO embarrassing!!! But bloody brilliant that they were so accommodating Smile

Oh and ladies... we have our first December baby!
This morning stinkerboo posted on the FB group to say that she gave birth to a gorgeous little boy yesterday evening!!! Wonder who will be next?!

MildredH · 31/10/2013 09:50

I vote sofa too Feather. I've come to realise one activity per day is the way to go!!

kchapper5 · 31/10/2013 10:15

Definitely sofa feather
Welcome back angry
Love that the cinema was so accommodating for you liz
Im off to my first Physio appointment at 11 then off to Birmingham tonight to see the arctic monkeys! We're seated so hopefully it won't be too tiring but im very excited

Alyssa1978 · 31/10/2013 10:18

Why was she induced so early (October) is he ok? A good weight?

Stom91 · 31/10/2013 10:27

I'll catch up late. But alyssa her waters went on the 39th so she had to be induced.
He's 5lb 13 I think and doing well x

Stom91 · 31/10/2013 10:33

29th x

lisbapalea · 31/10/2013 10:38

Sofa definitely feather!

violetbean · 31/10/2013 10:44

Agree with sofa crowd Grin

Phoned bath company and they are going to try to deliver the right bath today between 1 and 2pm. Fingers crossed...

Think nesting instinct may have kicked in today, feel sudden urge to get rid of all our junk and prepare baby's room! Weird. Problem is I have a friend visiting this afternoon so if I get all the stuff out to sort it, I'll probably have to abandon it half way through when she arrives...

Welcome back angry! Smile

LadyMedea · 31/10/2013 10:55

Very freaked out by stinker boo's baby arriving, I think she was a couple of days ahead of me and I'm 35 weeks today with a history of early babies in my family.

qumquat I did the same as you and came off the anti-ds whilst TTC, anxiety is my main problem too. Made it to 16 weeks ok, then had a mini breakdown, worse than I'd ever been. Decided with doc to go back on but luckily a lower dose has done the trick (might be the placebo effect but who cares) so I feel I did my best trying to come off them and a low dose is better for me and babs. Keep an eye on yourself and don't feel guilty if you decide to try them again. The affect on babs will either be nothing or they can be a little jittery for 24 hours after their born, but that's rare. Your sanity is more important.

New baby news is very exciting! Smile

36+1 today, have another growth scan this afternoon, really hoping if all looks well then they will give me the go ahead to have her in the MLU.

meandbumpy · 31/10/2013 11:57

34 weeks appointment today and things are looking good. Baby is head down and my bloods are fine so no negative/positive cross over as yet. Midwife even asked if I'd considered a home birth so I feel reassured that things are going smoothly. I hadn't thought about having one before but now I'm considering it. Did anyone else have a home birth with their first? Does anyone think it'd be silly, possibly risky, to have one with the first when there are so many unknowns?

Good to hear your appointment went well Bohemian, it sounds like you've got a really positive, constructive plan together for dealing with your anxiety.

Sorry to hear people aren't sleeping well. I think i must be weird because I can't stop sleeping at the moment, averaging about 10 hours a night, in between wee stops, over the past few weeks! I feel so lazy but after not sleeping all the way through the pregnancy I just can't help myself. Must be the one benefit to dp being away in the week and me having the bed to myself.

Alyssa1978 · 31/10/2013 12:18

Everything fine at midwife appt 35+3 and measuring 37 weeks Hmm baby is head down and he's only 4/5ths out now and she said she couldn't move his head so that's good, he's going in the right way lol

Gannetgob · 31/10/2013 12:43

So exciting to hear baby news already. Scary too though!

Glad things are going well at midwife appointments, it doesn't seem like 5 minutes ago we were all going for booking in and 12 week scans!

I have a bra dilemma. When are you all going to buy nursing bras? There is a pack of 2 for £15 on the mothercare website but only available in a 38d. This size seems to be the comfiest on me at the moment, so I don't know whether to buy them. I'm 34 weeks now, so I assume my buzzies will get bigger. Is it too early to get them now? Shall I wait for another 2 or 3 weeks or shall I just go for it?

Excellent list Alyssa. I am also putting my green notes and birth plan in, a towel for me, a TENS machine, nipple cream, vaseline to make first poos not stick quite so much and a carrier bag for dirty clothes. I might also shove my hairdryer in the car. Not an essential item but I hate having wet hair after a shower.

In terms of milk, I decided against buying a starter kit. In boots the cow and gate starter kit worked out at £1.39 per 100ml of milk, so I got a couple of the big bottles of ready made milk (29p per 100ml). We have lots of bottles already, and I don't want to waste lots of money when (fingers crossed) breast feeding will go well!

Hope everyone is ok, have a lovely day and let me know about nursing bras!

jemimastar · 31/10/2013 12:44

Hi December girls! Sorry to be a late joiner I always wandered where these due date/month specific threads were, sad I've only just found them with 5 weeks to-fingers crossed- go! Sad
I'm Due Dec 2nd & counting the days...bump has dropped massively, was convinced I had a UTI but just babies head engaged and making me waddle around.

Have an anterior placenta so movement can be very sporadic, at my MW appointment this week she wasn't happy as baby wasn't reacting at all & made me go into hospital to DAU to be hooked up and checked...baby eventually woke up/moved around after some water and chocolate! Really wish had more regular movement though.

Gannetgob · 31/10/2013 12:50

Oooooh, also, this may be a really silly question and correct me if I'm wrong, but here goes...

I read a thread on here not so long ago about when baby had their first bath. I was surprised that some people were saying up to 2/3 weeks after they were born. I understand that its fine to just use cotton wool and water to wash baby at first and a proper bath is often about bonding/routine/nice experience. Soooo... Baby is going to be a bit gross when they are born. Gunge and gloopy stuff all over. How do you get that off? Do you just to use wet cotton wool and keep going until its all off? I know that I can give baby a bath whenever I want, but what do you lot think?

Alyssa1978 · 31/10/2013 12:54

Ah yes ganetgob I also have nipple cream and empty carrier bags for wet towels etc, i knew I'd forget something I had in lol.
I was told by the mothercare bra measurer woman lol to come get measured at 37 weeks for nursing bras.

Welcome jemima same due date as me and my placenta is at my back so feeling lots of movement this time around.

Gannetgob · 31/10/2013 12:56

Welcome jemima!

I can imagine it must be hard not feeling baby very often, I know I panic when I don't feel mine for a while! However, it sounds like your midwife is on the ball and making sure you are both ok, so that's something!

Is this your first? Do you know if you are having a boy or a girl?

Alyssa1978 · 31/10/2013 12:57

I took in johnsons top to toe for babies first bath as it says its mild enough and you can use on body and hair. I still use it now.

WhisperMen · 31/10/2013 13:34

I was just going to use water and wipes in hospital and wait until the cord has dropped off to give baby a proper bath I think. That's what my step sister did and it worked for her. To be honest I think I will be a little bit too scared to bath it for a while incase I break the baby haha.

I am poorly once again today. I am fed up of feeling rotten. It's just low level niggly stuff that combined is making me feel rather rough. The joys of being pregnant eh?
