Blockette · 08/11/2013 16:53

Then a year ago* - (I spent 26 years in the no kids ever camp! DH almost called off the wedding because he wanted them so bad but I didn't)

CalltheMadwife · 08/11/2013 17:08

They were and I kept having to yoink my massive bosoms back into my cossie as they were desperately trying to escape! Whilst everyone else had very sensible costumes on that contained their breasts properly haha!

I'm hoping the stretchy pains calm down, might give pregnancy yoga a go as well. I had a personal trainer earlier this year and did kettle bell workouts (omg I used to cry afterwards) and was playing softball once a week in the summer so think my body needs this activity to get back to its fitness levels from before pregnancy, plus I put weight on so easily I really would be heartbroken if I managed to put all of the 3 stone back on that I'd lost in the last few years!

PiratesMam · 08/11/2013 17:31

Don't worry everyone - DS is now 4 and he can get breakfast ready in the morning for himself and his 2 yr old sister! DH and I can have the odd lie-in on the weekends now. The other crucial thing is to teach them how to use the TV remote control [jots down points for forthcoming parenting tome]

Still no blood test results! Angry

PiratesMam · 08/11/2013 17:56

I'm so pissed off, another weekend of uncertainty. They assured me test results would be in by now. Apparently she is going to chase it up Monday morning.

apprenticemamma · 08/11/2013 18:23

pirates this is encouraging news! I'm already training ds for independent living skills / helping mummy skills. He's such a mummy's boy and v tidy and clean he doesn't need so much prompting now.

I don't think u ever get your life back..as it was anywayWink But I am a firm believer in planning nights out and the odd weekend away from next summer onwards ...Babysitters have already been lined up Smile

apprenticemamma · 08/11/2013 18:24

and pirates sorry u ve no results before weekend, thinking of u x

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 08/11/2013 18:31

what's wrong with your feet Cookie,

lumpylumps · 08/11/2013 19:57

rock I've done the same. I also think something is pressing on a nerve at the top of bump, just under my rib. I keep getting a sharp pain.

step fil is not good we spent all day up there yesterday. He's aspirated and has pneumonia. It's still touch and go although he's stable.

April13 · 08/11/2013 20:41

I've just had a ham and pickled onion sandwich. I really amaze myself sometimes. My culinary skills are just superb......my child had no chance lol!

cookie it was warburtons bread too! but the blue one x

Coolhand · 08/11/2013 22:03

Lumpy sorry to hear that. I'm sure it's exhausting for all of you at the moment.

Pirates that really is crap - really hope the results are in on Monday.

Yes, do really appreciate lazy weekend lie ins if you have them! I seem to spend life in a state of semi-confused exhaustion these days.

I keep rolling onto my back while sleeping as well. It's weird as I don't normally sleep on my back and it didn't happen last pregnancy - not sure why I keep waking that way.

OwlinaTree · 09/11/2013 09:33

Morning all! I'm well impressed with all the exercising madwife and cookie. I used to do loads of exercise but now I'm pg I'm just managing go to work and housework. I might start pg yoga soon.

Sorry to hear your fil is no better lumpy. thinking of you. Can't believe you are still waiting on test results pirates, hope you are OK.

Just been for the flu jab take two. They let me have it this time. 2 people asked me if I was having twins!! Must throw this dress away!

mrsksays · 09/11/2013 09:43

Really sorry to hear about your step-fil lumpy my nan had a stroke last Christmas and we really thought the worst it was such an anxious time for the family. She's doing great now so all the best your step-fil will have a good outcome.

When are the rest of y'all gonna join the FB group? There's only a few of you left who haven't joined.

I've just posted our current baby name choice on there. Opinions appreciated.

Saggy, the physio is bemused re my arches; they are not fallen but are causing me immense pain and I am now on crutches. The pain started gradually as the weight gain accelerated so the problem is related to weight-bearing. I can only describe the pain as like walking with tennis balls strapped under your arches.

Owl, I am not an exercise freak, promise (although I was pre-IVF). I don't have a job and have loads of time on my hands and so I am making some use of the tedious hours spent in front of the telly. I do not believe in the so-called benefits of pregnancy-related exercise (yoga and similar shit); apart from relaxation (and the feeling that you are doing something positive) I don't honestly think it will help at the birth. You need to strengthen the thigh muscles and lungs if you are to have an active birth and this requires some cardio and weight-bearing exercises.

I have lost 2.5lbs in the past week and am unashamedly fucking delighted Smile

CookieDoughWhore · 09/11/2013 13:32

I miss you, Comms and MaybeIt'sMyBellend Sad

IceNoSlice · 09/11/2013 13:58

Cookie you have a point about the preg exercise - but I think it depends where you are starting from: your pre-preg level of fitness, core fitness and how active your life/job are. For some folks who are very sedentary or overweight I think pregnancy exercise is very sensible. But if you're fit in general, continuing with regular cardio (walking, swimming, cycling) during pregnancy is probably better than preg yoga etc.

I do think there is an advantage when it comes to birth from the breathing and calming techniques - but you can get these at antenatal groups, preg yoga, books, YouTube... And they're basically the same.

liberuna · 09/11/2013 16:53

My thoughts and prayers are with you Lumpy

Cookie while I don't think you're this beached whale you think you are. Im happy that the weight loss has pleased you.

Ice I definitely fall into that category. I hadn't been keeping very active this year and even less now preggers. Need to do something, oh keeps trying to take me swimming but its cold and rainy

lumpylumps · 09/11/2013 17:37

Thanks everyone. He's improving daily so fingers crossed.

Ds2 saw the baby kick today. He got so excited!! I wonder how much he really understands!

I've put on 10.5lbs so far. I haven't really been eating that much more than normal so I'm blaming baby for a whole 1lb of it and fluid for the rest!! I'm going to meadowhell on Thurs and desperately need some more mat jeans and some mat boots!!!

I don't exercise, but I do do a lot of singing so my lungs are good from that!!

cookie your arches sound painful. Do they think it's something that'll right itself after birth or will you need treatment??

BadlyWrittenPoem · 09/11/2013 18:38

I think that exercise is a good idea generally but pregnancy exercise definitely isn't needed for birth - I spent eight months in bed last pregnancy and birthed a back to back nine pounder really easily. I would love to go to aquanatal classes just for the experience of being able to actually do some kind of pregnancy class with other people but I figure that it would take me two or three days at least to recover which would give DH more to do and would be rather unfair on him. My muscles are all aching anyway from having put two big online grocery shops away this week having done barely any housework in the previous four months so I think that counts as enough exercise for now.

apprenticemamma · 09/11/2013 22:14

I don't even want to know what I've put on weightwise! Puffin responding a LOT to mint aero right now...

we've got a ton of house renovation lined up so I've spend the night on house 2 home houzz pinterest etc whilst oh is away working. Any interior design types on here that can help. Toying with striped carpet hallway atm don't know where to start ...

apprenticemamma · 09/11/2013 22:44

((middle aged chat alert))sorry! Anyone else got a strong nesting vibe?

CookieDoughWhore · 10/11/2013 00:00

I love striped carpets in a hallway or up stairs. No, I'm not nesting; I can barely be arsed flushing after a shit.

BakingEating · 10/11/2013 08:35

Apprentice I must be nesting. We've bought a second hand table for €30, sanded the top back and varnished it with matt varnish so it looks like we've waxed it, but it's more durable. I've also got some fabric to redo the seats of our dining room chairs (no room for table/chairs in our kitchen). They were a hand me down some years back and look manky now, but a quick clean and polish, alongside the new fabric, will make them much better. Then there's paint for the nursery, a chair I want to fix up as a nursing chair, the pine cones I collected a few weeks back to spray gold for Christmas.... the cushion obsession... the cushion obsession... the cushion obsession...

So yes, I'm nesting. Normally I can't be arsed to do all that sort of stuff.

I hope Lumpy that the news in your house is gradually getting better, and Pirates I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that you get some definitive results on Monday so that you can stop worrying.

CookieDoughWhore · 10/11/2013 09:24

BWP, were you fit before you spent the eight months in bed during that pregnancy? If someone is generally unfit and does nowt to exercise during pregnancy, I can't see an active birth being an option for them? Don't they become one of those women who just writhe around on a bed sucking on gas and air and then requiring two midwives to lift their legs up?
