Congratulations livened!
ananikifo I cried in the car the other day when 'Just the two us us' came on the radio! OH asked what was wrong and I sobbed at him that it won't be just the two of us much longer. Felt pretty bad for having that thought like that but it's probably normal ( I hope).
Poor man as just had to go out to do a c-section ( on a dog) so Sod's law will be that I'll go into labour tomorrow night just so that he'll have two sleepless nights in row before baby even gets here!

takingachance · 14/10/2013 04:45

Quite excited here as I'm now SWIL Smile

I had a sweep at 1130am yesterday, which was my edd. Felt niggly all afternoon then had a few mild contractions at 30 min intervals before bed last night.

Woke up at 0230 and have had pretty strong contractions at 10min intervals since then, so just getting through them and letting dh sleep a bit longer!

Labour with dd1 was 9 hours start to finish, so don't think it will be too long before they really ramp up!

takingachance · 14/10/2013 06:14

7 mins between contractions now Smile

roxvox · 14/10/2013 06:25

Exciting! Good luck takingachance!

I meant to say before - I downloaded an app to time my contractions. Sounds gimmicky but it was actually really useful to have a breakdown of how far apart they were/how long they were lasting.

Thank you so much for sharing racheld33 and shooting. It's lovely to think I'm not alone with my 'Velcro baby' Grin
It's actually quite lovely having a baby who is so cuddly, and having her sleep on me is lovely too really, but I am keen to get her in her cot at night really because I don't like the 'what if' feeling that comes with co-sleeping. Thank you again for your stories and tips, I will try these things!

roofio I asked the other day about cluster feeding with Ailla about now. Someone on here said it was normal, and then the MW also passed comment about it being a 'busy time for Ailla's jaw' or something. How are you feeling now by the way?

Natalieand · 14/10/2013 06:32

Eeek good luck taking xxx

takingachance · 14/10/2013 06:38

Thank you!!

rox I downloaded the contraction timer about 2 hours ago as I kept forgetting when the last contraction was! It's actually pretty cool- I remember writing the timings down with dd1 as no such thing as iPads then Smile
Just debating getting up for a shower between these contractions...
Xx

Natalieand · 14/10/2013 06:47

Lol taking I love the 'no such thing as a contraction timer then'

My sister was in my phone in the car over the weekend and said 'ohh a contraction timer app? Do u remember last time u was in labour our little pen and paper we had? Back in the day'

Dd is only just about to turn 3 lol

takingachance · 14/10/2013 07:26

Quite interesting that since I got up, the intensity of the contractions has decreased (lasting 30-40secs) instead of a minute, but they seem to be coming about every 3:30 now!

Just stuffing crumpets down me now!!

takingachance · 14/10/2013 07:38

Hmm, intensity is back, so going to call maternity now - no wifi at this hospital, so will update when I can!! Xx

FeministInTraining · 14/10/2013 07:54

Congratulations Livened and good luck Taking!

Thanks Nat, happy due date to us Smile
Where are the other 14th-ers?!

Don't know what to do with myself today. Should finish the baby's blanket really- just the border of the last side to do...

OrangeBlossom2 · 14/10/2013 08:02

Morning all. SC at 39+1 and starting my second week of maternity leave with no baby.

Congratulations to livened and any other new mums I missed. Thanks

Exciting takingachance! Good luck today and I look forward to hearing news.

Sorry about the judgey midwife bronze. Lovely name, hope he wees spectacularly all over her today. Thanks for the tip about pampers indicator line GT. Another useful nugget to store away. I had no idea it could be difficult to tell.

I had a lovely day with DH yesterday at the garden centre buying new things for the fish tank, playing with the new camera settings taking photos of bump, massages, making pizzas, watching strictly and generally spending some time as a two. He has been working so hard all week to try to get work done before paternity leave I had hardly seen him. Ended by crying all over him that we wouldn't have any more couple time ever again, so Ana exactly the same as you. Glad it's not just me! He was very nice, put on my hypnotherapy cd and cuddled me to sleep. We both got excited that my hormonal outburst might mean baby was imminent this morning but alas no signs. Flyer I am constantly checking too. My bum felt wet this morning and I thought waters might have leaked in bed but it was just oil left from a massage last night. Blush

Good luck today Nat. Smile

OrangeBlossom2 · 14/10/2013 08:08

The calls, texts and Facebook messages are increasing, my 'favourite' so far "are you going to be induced?". I'm not even at my due date yet!

Laughed at a drunk girl on the tube on Saturday night doing a double take when I sat down and mouthing to her friend "she's about to pop!" I didn't fit in with the usual crowd on the last tube home from old street!

chickieno1 · 14/10/2013 08:15

Good luck taking!

Good luck for induction nat. What time do you have to phone the hospital?

rox my dd will go in her cot for about 2 hours but after her feed no joy. It is tiring but we do love the cuddles.

I'm sitting here now feeding. Woke up and my top is drenched! Not sure if its milk and sweat or just sweat, yuck! I might try sleeping with breast pad tomorrow. Anyone not using breast pads? I don't really like them....

roofio and clapham felt better yesterday thanks. Probably all timing, hormones and sleep deprivation. I know we will make good friends eventually. Moved to London just before ds was born but found clapham friendlier. Also had three of my best friends (school and uni) have babies all within 6 months so had automatic mummy friends. The neighbours here are very sweet. One set brought over lovely Aden +anais swaddles/muslins the other day. Another set were very excited to meet baby and offered to look after ds anytime we wanted (they have 2 kids 3.5 and 5 yrs). Ok I'm rambling here.......just trying to say not all doom and gloom here!

Not sure I said congrats mnippy Flowers

flyer and tucking sorry you're SFW. Hoping for babies to turn up very soon xx

ready hugs!

Ok I'll have to stop there now :). Sorry about essay.

OrangeBlossom2 · 14/10/2013 08:19

Chickien I hate breast pads too, they make me sweaty and itchy. I have tried a couple of brands including the lanisoh ones which people say are the best but they are the same other than sticking better and not making my bra such a weird shape. I have been using little round cotton wool pads which I have found less irritating at the moment while SC, but I imagine they would not stem the flow once I have actually had the baby. I am thinking of buying some of the cotton washable ones, although I can't really see myself washing them every day...

tuckingfits · 14/10/2013 08:41

orange I started off with disposable ones, then once my overflow had slowed down I swapped to washables & just popped them in with the baby's washing - which was done daily/every second day depending on just how pukey he had been that day. Just a suggestion on how to make it work. :)

FeministInTraining · 14/10/2013 08:49

Orange the induction q would definitely bring on pg rage!

I bought the washable breast pads as well as disposables as they are more likely to leak from what I've heard. I have only had the occasional wet patch during pg though (at home braless) so haven't used them. Think I would just rinse them out in the bathroom with some hand soap when I shower.

I haven't looked at my phone yet. No doubt lots of 'today is the day' messages. As if I didn't know. I'm sure people mean well, and it doesn't bother me from everyone. Just people who only message to find out if baby is here yet. Tell me some gossip or something funny that's happened! Even my mum said she's getting annoyed at her close friends asking if I've had the baby yet- in her words "do you not think I would have put a bloody ad out?" Grin

DP is a teacher, the kids at his school will no doubt be highlighting the fact he is still at work and has no baby yet. Because he needs reminding. Smile

FeministInTraining · 14/10/2013 08:50

Tucking I think I underestimate how much baby washing I will be doing...

MrsHoratioNelson · 14/10/2013 08:50

Just a quick update to let you know that Conrad Frederick finally put in an appearance at 5:25 this morning weighing 6lb12oz. I was in early labour forever but it all went ok once we cleared 4cm. After 48 hours I'm knackered but we're fine. Pics etc later x

OrangeBlossom2 · 14/10/2013 08:52

Ah I presumed they would be hand wash things for some reason. And thought that you might only get one pair in a pack. Thanks tucking.
I have just ordered a pack of five pairs of little sheep bamboo ones. Not too expensive really (£10.95 and free postage here )

ananikifo · 14/10/2013 08:54

Congrats livened and MrsHN! Thanks Thanks

OrangeBlossom2 · 14/10/2013 08:54

Hooray MrsH! Congratulations and welcome to little Conrad. Thanks

Flyer747 · 14/10/2013 08:59

MrsH yey. Congratulations. I knew or was going to be a boy being so late. Was even thinking that at 5am this morning on a toilet trip. Brilliant news. Thanks

dontworryjustpanic · 14/10/2013 09:07

I used the washable breast pads last time & just had dispisables in case I couldn't keep on top of washing them. They dry pretty quickly on the radiator. The little net wash bags you get with them are also great for washing baby socks so your machine doesn't eat socks!

Congratulations Mummies on those new arrivals & Flowers to all of you SFW or generally fed up.

I'm 38+5 without the faintest sign of labour. DH finally found the pump for my ball last night (only asked him to look for it about 4 weeks ago!). Getting bloody uncomfortable now - constantly feels like I'm tearing down middle of my bump & can't bear to have anything touching my tummy Sad

claphammama · 14/10/2013 09:10

congrats mrsH!! finally, and you managed to beat them to it! no induction for you after all. Looking forward to the photos and... may I say... what a beautiful name you have chosen. Impeccable taste Grin Grin Grin

good luck to you taking - looking forward to your news later today!

chickie glad you are feeling better now. Which area / street in Clapham did you used to live on? I'm always meaning to ask Smile hope it's not too nosy to ask considering you are no longer here?

hope everyone else, with babies or SFW, had an OK night.

no news here I'm afraid... 38+6 today and no signs whatsoever... flyer not even broken nails at the bottom of my bath Grin

roofio87 · 14/10/2013 09:10

congrats mrsh glad it went wellSmile

I seem to remember asda washable breast pads seeming fairly good and cheap. was going to try them but no point now not bf.

I'm feeling better. still tired but enjoying being a mum a bit more. dp goes back to work tomorrow, just for three days but a bit apprehensive about it!!
