Oh yes I wasn't being too grumpy I promise :) she was very thorough which I prefer to being just ignored!! I just felt a bit like she didn't believe me which was strange. I'm not a southerner mumof2 Wink I'm in Worcester so bang schmack in the middle pretty much!

dobedobedo · 17/10/2013 19:31

I didn't do the massage thing either. I remember having lots of clary sage baths and depositing evening primrose up "there" to soften things. I had a superficial tear (superficial my arse. Couldn't wee without screaming for weeks). Maybe this time I'll try the massage. Is this something dh can help with? Wink

Have any of your Dopplers arrived to the people who have bought them. Just got back from working away last night and it took me about 10 minutes and I was just about to give up but then I found the heartbeat. Chugging away at about 160 beats per minute so there was no mistaking it for my pulse or the whooshing uterus sounds. Was lovely to hear, will try it out again when DH gets home.

rebeccax2 · 17/10/2013 19:48

My doppler arrived today and I couldn't find the heartbeat and got bored trying :-)

I think maybe it's just too early at 9.2 x

impatientlywaiting · 17/10/2013 19:52

Probably is too early Rebecca, mine said could find it from 11 weeks. Not long to wait, a week and a half and you should hopefully hear it.

mumof2aimingfor4 · 17/10/2013 19:59

If you don't mind me asking, how much did you ladies pay for your dopplers? I rented one last time and it cost a bloody fortune!

rebeccax2 · 17/10/2013 20:02

20 squid on Amazon. x

Flixy102 · 17/10/2013 20:05

Horray for lovely scans and happy mummys to be!

I was going to say about my doppler, it arrived today and I was able to hear the babys heart beating at 160 bpm so definitely not mine! Can't wait for DH to get home from work so he can listen too! Mine wads 20 quid from amazon.

dobedobedo · 17/10/2013 20:23

I'm too neurotic for a doppler!

Five more minutes and I can take ds's sodding homework out of the oven and go to bed. (his homework is baking cookies)

Am so tired.

impatientlywaiting · 17/10/2013 20:24

Mine was £20 from eBay.

mumof2aimingfor4 · 17/10/2013 20:34

Think I'll invest in one this time round then if they're that cheap now. DP and I had a car crash when I was 18 weeks pregnant with dd2 and I was so glad I had mt doppler as I checked baby straight away! And every half hour after!

Spirael · 17/10/2013 20:40

Congrats, Moomin! :) Glad it all went well today.

I had to do a carbon monoxide test, Nanny. I'm a non-smoker and my MW explained to me that it was to help pick up carbon monoxide from other sources, like a faulty boiler or car.

If the levels are raised, it's an indication to get potential sources checked out, as too much carbon monoxide is bad for anyone - especially teeny babies!

It probably is to pick up the lying non-smokers as well. Wink My result was fine.

moominleigh94 · 17/10/2013 22:11

Night girls. Got a feeling I'll be sleeping soundly tonight :)

LittleBairn · 17/10/2013 22:15

I'm pleased to hear there have been positive scans today.

I'm still waiting for my appointment my care had been very hands off to the point of non existence considering this is a high risk pregancy but I've lucked out with my community midwife she seems excellent and is chasing up a scan to be done ASAP.

When it comes to hospitals/Birth and decisions being made for you and actions being taken without consent the phrase you are looking for is NO presumed consent and you re making informed decisions about your care and expect them to fully explain themselves and remind them to ask permission to touch your body.
I had to do this with my delivery of the placenta (very tricky in early pregnacy) you will be suprised just how much their attitudes changes after that they can no longer do anything to you without your expressed permission.

Presumed consent is what they use often to do things without properly discussing it first like doing episiotomies without gaining your consent. It gives you a lot of power back and wakes up the medical staff tot he fact your in charge of your own body and care.

moobaloo · 17/10/2013 22:17

Glad everything is good for everyone today Smile

Dopplers sound interesting... but I may be too neurotic for one! At what point can you start hearing the heartbeat? I'm only 8+4 at the moment and feel very behind everyone else with their scans etc! Sad

I had to undo the button on my size 10 jeans at the dinner table today after just one potato Blush

Squiffie · 17/10/2013 22:50

Hey vikks I'm from Rotherham so just down the road!

Congrats on the scan moomin glad its good news for you Smile

rebeccax2 I have a scan tomorrow at 7:30pm - booked it private as couldn't wait for NHS one, too impatient.

I've made a note of the 'no presumed consent' littlebairn I'm going to write it on my notes.

I'm at work at the moment and spent my break throwing up Sad not told them yet so just have to try and pretend to be fine!

Chip86 · 17/10/2013 23:01

Wow good news on our thread today congratulations on the amazing scans
Night night ladies hope you all have a good night of rest

CbeebiesIsMyLife · 17/10/2013 23:23

thoes of you who have other children if you get a minute can you look at this and tell me what you think. I'm all over the place at the minute and I just dont know what to think. I really dont think its mental health related, i dont feel like i desperately need to speak to my therapist because I'm on the edge, but I feel all wrong, completely all over the place and on a different sort of edge if that makes any sense.

maybe I am just a mental case at the moment.

impatientlywaiting · 18/10/2013 00:06

Cbeebies I have no experience of pregnancy before but wanted to say I'm sorry you are having such a hard time.

I'd echo what people in the other thread said, I'd ditch the midwife for now and speak with your GP.

Squiffe good luck for tomorrow! Know it isn't til later but make sure you check back in to let us know how it goes.

Hezbean · 18/10/2013 00:15

Cbeebies - you should definitely get a 2nd opinion! It does sound like the gd might be kicking in already (my sister in law had it from v early in her last pregnancy) and you should get it checked out. Could your gp help?
In the meantime maybe try not eating anything sugary and see if that helps even things out.
Sorry you are feeling so stressed. Xxxxxxx

dobedobedo · 18/10/2013 06:27

Ceebies I agree with the others. See your gp and see what he or she says. I hope they test you soon. Your mw sounds like she's not taking you seriously enough. Thanks

This morning I could have swore I felt movement really low down. After the midwife earlier this week, I now have no idea how pregnant I am, except she reckons "over 12 weeks at least", but I felt a fluttering sensation low down in my tummy. It definitely wasn't a fart brewing Grin

I felt movements with ds at 14/15 weeks, so maybe it's possible?

rebeccax2 · 18/10/2013 06:37

Yes cbeebies I am appalled by your Midwife. You know your body! Speak to your GP.

Ooohh dobedbedo - movement. How exciting!

dobedobedo · 18/10/2013 07:29

Bit of advice needed guys.

Remember I said my work weren't paying me for being off for one day (I was constantly throwing up and exhausted after being forced to work the week before when I was sick and wanted to stay at home).
Well, I've been reading up on maternity employment law and it seems that if I can prove a male colleague got paid for being sick or if I can prove I was previously paid for being off sick when I wasn't pregnant, they're discriminating against me for being pregnant. Whether my contract says I don't get sick pay or not. It's implied if they paid me it before.

Well I had time off when I broke my ribs and when I had noro virus earlier in the year. And guess what? They paid me in full.

Should I speak up to the business owner? And what should I say? I don't want to come across as litigious or threatening. He might not even know they're docking my wages.

mumof2aimingfor4 · 18/10/2013 07:46

dobe were you signed off by docs for broken ribs? And noro virus is contagious so they couldnt havw tou in work. Im not fighring their corner in any way. Call citizens advice (I think) and find out where you stand.

mumof2aimingfor4 · 18/10/2013 07:51

cbeebies im really sorry you feel the way you do but also glad you felt you could talk to us lot about it.
This is dc3 for me and it feels like a whole new ball game! I feel like crap, cant sleep at night but can nap during the day, have gone off my favourite food and drinks and like you seem to have no patience wirh my own children. Personally I feel mine is due to age now.

Dont beat yourself up. Ditch the midwife and go to your gp, demand blood tests for gestational diabetes and don't take no for an answer.
