I prefer pack ;) I wasn't necessarily meaning from you lovely ladies / it's the midwives that tend to get shirty. I was informed last time that bottle feeding was akin to neglect! Luckily I rollocked politely informed said midwife that was my boobs my rules and she could either ring social services and see what they had to say or BACK OFF ;) I think dh was v scared hehe

Squiffie · 17/10/2013 13:12

So I may just have booked a scan for tomorrow... Wink

rebeccax2 · 17/10/2013 13:17

Hi Everyone.

GREAT GREAT NEWS!

9 weeks, 2 days with a wriggly little baby and a heartbeat of 174BPM.

My symptoms have stopped due to the placenta taking over, and nothing more. She told me to count myself lucky and enjoy it, as they could come back at any moment.

I have a tiny tear which has caused the pink spotting which is now resolved. The tear was 100% nothing to worry about and is quite normal.

So, I am resolved to stop being such a worry wart. It's really hard though, isn't it?

Thanks for all your messages of support!

xx

Welcome back Little Bairn, glad things are going well :)

Welcome IfYouLoveSomebodyLetThemSleep - we were TTC, so as soon as I was expecting my period I tested and got the happy result :)

Nanny No judging from me :) I think its whatever suits the mother and baby. My mum tried to breast feed both me and my sister and neither of us would take to it and my sister would only take milk off a teaspoon at one point! Haha. I'm going to try and bf, but if it doesn't happen then I will ff. So long as the baby is happy and healthy, all is fine :) xx

mumof2aimingfor4 · 17/10/2013 13:20

nanny good for you, I had a mw come to see me at home when I had dd1, she was insistent that I was bf wrong which I wasn't as it didnt hurt and baby was gaining weight. She said, "look, see, you've got a blister" (pointing to my nipple) I said whilst laghing at her, "thats not a blister, thats from where I had my nipple pierced" needless to say she flushed and dropped the subject.

Squiffie · 17/10/2013 13:22

Spirael I asked when I rang but they just don't have the appointments available!

Welcome to all the new Maybies! X x

Dobe good idea keeping a diary - acas (think that's what they're called) are great if you need any info/to clarify rules and regs with regard to employment law.

I feel quite strongly about bf so will stay away from that topic but I will say that 'preparing the nipples' made me giggle!

bushprincess · 17/10/2013 13:22

rebeccax2 wonderful news! that's so great and a huge weight off your mind! Brilliant!

mumof2aimingfor4 · 17/10/2013 13:23

Oh and as for the perinium massaging, I didnt do it and tore badly with dd1. I would do it and use whatever produxt they advise to 'loosen' things up! I didn't do it with dd2 either but when I said to midwife can you cut me if I look like im going to tear, she said oh dont worry about that my love, your body's done this before it'll stretch perfectly!

Squiffie · 17/10/2013 13:24

Great news Rebeccax2 Grin

mumof2aimingfor4 · 17/10/2013 13:24

Fantastic news Rebecca now we just have to wait to hear from moomin

impatientlywaiting · 17/10/2013 13:25

Excellent news Rebecca, so pleased!

Also welcome back LittleBairn, glad that you are feeling more confident. Especially after what sounds like a scary time a few weeks ago.

Squiffie · 17/10/2013 13:26

mumof2 my mw told me that because I've had previous 3rd degree tear that I'd be offered an elective section Shock

mumof2aimingfor4 · 17/10/2013 13:28

squiffie ouch! Admittedly my tear was not to that extent! Plus my 2nd was prem so not as big as dd1.

bluestone85 · 17/10/2013 13:29

Thats fantastic news rebecca :) Congratulations!

I must say I'm getting slightly jealous of all the scans people are having. Can't wait to have mine!!!! :D

Squiffie · 17/10/2013 13:30

It sounds weird but I didn't even notice! Anyway, I won't be accepting a section on those grounds.

mumof2aimingfor4 · 17/10/2013 13:34

squiffie strangely I know what you mean. I didn't notice tear but I definitely noticed the painful injection she gave me down there before I was stitched up.

Squiffie · 17/10/2013 13:43

I had to have an epidural to have the repair done which pissed me off no end considering I'd given birth without one!

randdom · 17/10/2013 13:47

Congratulations Rebbecca.

I wish I wasn't so far behind everyone :( I only just make it in to May and have just turned 8 weeks. The waiting is so hard! I don't book until the 29th!

A random question! For the last week my husband has been feeling really nauseated, tired and bloated! I am wondering if he might be getting sympathetic symptoms.. weirdly he did mention that when his mum was pregnant with his sister (he was about 11) he would throw up when she did. Strange huh? I was just wondering if anyone else's partners are experiencing anything similar?

mumof2aimingfor4 · 17/10/2013 13:49

That would have really annoyed me too. Did you have no pain relief at all? Im not balsy enough to go without completely, I had to have gas and air for pushing bit with dd2. Had pethedine with dd1, horrid horrid stuff, made me feel awful!

mumof2aimingfor4 · 17/10/2013 13:51

ranndom my oh is fine, but I have heard of men suffering alongside women though.

Spirael · 17/10/2013 13:52

Agree with the tears! I didn't notice I'd torn either, but being sewn back together was worse than giving birth.

In part because the local anaesthetic they tried to give me was ineffective and they'd sent the G&A away when it arrived because I'd already given birth and they thought I wouldn't need it.

Determined to have some G&A this time around! Wink

Squiffie · 17/10/2013 13:55

randdom never heard that before. DH has no compassion though, lol.

mumof2 I had diamorphine and gas and air with ds (1st child) and just gas and air with dd. I blame the midwife for the horrific tear as I was on all fours and told her dd was coming; she didn't believe me and insisted on me lying down to be examined!

I've told dh that this time if similar happens that he's to intervene and tell the midwife to fuck off that I know my own body and to leave me be.

Spirael · 17/10/2013 13:55

Don't worry, randdom! You're ahead of me - I'm only 7+5 today.

No nausea and bloating for my DH... But he is being tired and grumpy. Could be hormones. Wink

Xavielli · 17/10/2013 14:03

I have the utmost respect for anyone who tears then goes back for more. I have managed 4 births without tearing and consider myself truly blessed to have done so. Same with morning sickness, if I'd have had any with DS1 none of the others would have happened

rebeccax2 · 17/10/2013 14:05

Thank you so much everyone. I feel utterly elated.

Just waiting on Moomin!
