WELL this is all very exciting. Fingers crossed for Eliana.

Wickedgirl · 03/10/2013 15:48

I hope everything goes well for mon......she deserves something to go right

moonblues · 03/10/2013 15:50

Phew what a day!

At my pre-op assessment this morning, so phone switched off for half an hour, unfortunately just around the time my DS fell over at school and split his chin open. Luckily the school managed to get hold of my DH who got a taxi over to the school and I met them at home. So just back from the minor injuries unit where he had it steristriped and glued, though he's going to be left with a scar. :( Have just realised they told me to put antibiotic ointment on twice a day, but only change the dressing every 1 or 2 days. Hmm Tried phoning them up, but nobody seems to pick up the phone.

Sympathise with the slug problem, but think I've gone one worse - wasps! Finding about 8 wasps a day in our bedroom. Had the guys out twice to treat it, but when they came on Tuesday, they said we definitely don't have a nest, but that the house 4 doors down does and that the wasps are getting confused as we have a similar dormer window, roof line and so are coming into our house to look for the nest! So went down to talk to our neighbour, who I had only met once before whilst trick or treating, and she said that they knew about the wasp nest, but I think instead of getting the council to get rid of it, had just out some powder on the roof themselves... So we're going to have wasps until they get it treated and 2 days later there's no sign that they had anyone round. I was going to wait til the weekend and then go down and offer to pay for the cost of it, or offer to pay half, but not sure how this will go down. Confused. DH wants me to go down this afternoon, but feeling a bit fragile after DS hospital visit.

What do you reckon ladies? Should I just bite the bullet and go down? The neighbour seems nice, but she had 40 wasps a day in her 1 yr old DD's room and they seem to have just sealed the room from the inside, rather than get rid of the nest. Confused So don't think they'll do it for me...

Don't want to bring a new baby home to a room with wasps - think I'll end up sleeping downstairs...

Sorry for the rant...

Roxvox thanks for adding me to the list.

ananikifo · 03/10/2013 15:55

moonblues sorry to hear about ds's injury. I think you should talk to the neighbour. You can't live with wasps like that and any reasonable person wouldn't want to inflict that on the neighbourhood. I wonder if they didn't know the council treat wasp nests. Does it cost money when the council does it? It seems unfair that you should pay for any of it really but I agree it needs to be sorted.

MotherOfNations · 03/10/2013 16:16

Just been wheeled into recovery. I don't know what weight she is yet as they couldn't take her off oxygen long enough to weigh her. I couldn't even get a good look at her as she was in an oxygen chamber but was able to put my hand through the portholeand stroke her skin. She had quite a lot of fluid on her lungs which made breathing difficult but is a feisty wee thing and was trying to pull her tube out to breathe herself.

It took over an hour to get my spinal in and they kept hitting a nerve which sent electric shocks up my legs so not a pleasant experience. I didn't get stetilised. I asked the consultant how bad my uterus looked and she said it wasn't too bad surprisingly.

PseudoBadger · 03/10/2013 16:17

Well I've just got dressed Blush after finally spending a whole day in bed, the first time this maternity leave (and my last possible chance as it's my last day without DS before the baby arrives).
My new BP drug has given me headaches and diarrhoea and since looking it up on the net I see that I shouldn't be drinking grapefruit juice whilst taking it. So I've stopped and hopefully the side effects will ease off....
BP is ok today and was ok at bedtime last night so I just went to bed. Monitoring tomorrow again. I'm keeping an eye on movements as there've not been that many today.

I'm trying to catch up but I hope that all is going/has gone well for MoN.

Sorry about your poor DS Moon :(

Hope your bloods are ok Pink?

Good luck Rachel and Roofio!

Sorry to everyone I've missed....

PseudoBadger · 03/10/2013 16:18

Crosspost MoN! Lovely to hear from you, you rest now xxx

ananikifo · 03/10/2013 16:22

mon congrats! I wish you both the best and a smooth recovery. ThanksThanks

pinkbuttons · 03/10/2013 16:37

Congratulations MoN si glad to hear things went well for you and Eliana sounds fiesty already, hope you hear more soon and get to see her asap. x

Bloods all ok thanks pseudo really hope you feel better from not drinking grapefruit juice, what a weird thing to cause side effects. x
sorry to hear about your DS moon x

Slippysnow · 03/10/2013 16:39

Mon She sounds like a fighter :)

Moon, I would speak to the neighbour it may not be a big deal to her but it would be to me, especially with a lil baby, it could be dangerous. You could raise it casually like have you heard from the council, they take their time to act... Hint hint!!

MrsHoratioNelson · 03/10/2013 16:42

Great news MoN hope you get to have a proper cuddle later.

Managed finally to get out this afternoon after the rain eased off a bit, so I've bought yarn and bits to make this reindeer hat for baby Nelson's first christmas. It's very tempting to take pictures for Christmas cards for a few rellies, but we'll see how organised I can get with a baby to wrangle as well as myself!

I seem to have come out in hives on my feet and ankles and a bit on my hands which is driving me quite literally mad with itching. I had my flu jab yesterday and apparently it can be one of the side effects of that. Not adding to my overall comfort levels...

Congratulations MoN!

DH and I are off for a curry tonight...after cleaning the house from top to bottom, I'd be surprised and really disappointed if baby doesn't make an appearance soon!

PseudoBadger · 03/10/2013 16:47

The grapefruit juice affects absorption of the drug so that you get a bigger dose than intended, this makes side effects potentially worse. Apparently it's a common thing with lots of drugs!

moonblues · 03/10/2013 16:47

Welcome to the world baby Eliana. hope everything goes well for her MoN.

Thanks for all sympathy for my DS, he's been very brave bless him, and was more upset by the suggestion he might not be able to play football on Saturday.

ImpOfDarkness · 03/10/2013 16:50

Welcome Eliana, glad you sound like a fighter!

MrsH, itchy hands and feet might be cholestasis. You might want to get it checked.

moonblues · 03/10/2013 16:52

MrsH I would phone the midwives because obstetric cholestasis typically makes your hands and feet very itchy, and scratching can itself cause hives. Definitely worth getting checked out.

moonblues · 03/10/2013 16:54

Cross post Imp!

Natalieand · 03/10/2013 16:56

Thanks for your concern pinkbuttons I've had cramping in my back all day and a dull ache round the front as if I'm gunna get my period but no actual contractions(well not a contraction as I recognise it from my previous labour) so maybe its just another pre labour thing :-( SC@ 38+3

MoN sorry they had to whisk Eliana away so quickly before u could properly meet her. Must be such a difficult time for u and dp sending u lots of sympathy and Flowers xxx

moon sorry to hear about your ds, hope he recovers quickly x I would deffo be down the neighbours (or possibly send dh as I have a major wasp and bed phobia) and be getting onto them. A lot of ppl don't realise the council help with pest control as dh and I had to treat our house for fleas when I accident treated the cat with the wrong flea stuff and she picked them up and I was at my whits end with it all until I realise the council do it and around here pest control is only £30 which I think is a pretty reasonable price as they return until the problem is resolved.

Hope everyone is on the mend that had high bp/other illnesses bugs and general feeling crappiness xx

No idea what else I have read but I'm just feeling a little low and fed up the last few days so not really posting but keeping up too watch all the arrivals roll in :-) xx

roofio87 · 03/10/2013 16:57

just thought it was worth a note; after evening primrose oil, raspberry leaf, walks, bouncing on ball and sex for the last few weeks everything is still closed shut down there at 39+6!!! obviously nothing worked for me!!!

Natalieand · 03/10/2013 16:58

Wasp and bee phobia even lol not bed phobia

MrsHoratioNelson · 03/10/2013 17:01

moon and Imp thanks - I've spoken to the MW and she wasn't concerned about OC.

HeffalumpTheFlump · 03/10/2013 17:29

Congratulations MoN, keeping everything crossed and thinking of you and feisty little Eliana xxx

Pinkforboys · 03/10/2013 17:37

Congratulations MoN, so sorry that even the spinal was against you today, but hopefully now eliana will do well and you'll be allowed a few cuddles. xx

Nat love your wasp and bed phobia. I thought it was a great fear of being stung in bed rather than anywhere else....

OrangeBlossom2 · 03/10/2013 17:39

Congratulations MoN, so glad it happened for you today. I hope you get to have a cuddle soon.

Good luck to all those SWIL.

Glad monitoring went ok rox, though still doesn't sound like much movement. Perhaps it means baby is not he way very soon, fx. Do go back if you are worried again, jellys experience shows us how important this is.

Waves to little ducks.

One more day of work left for me yay! Back killing me, I think I will spend my maternity leave mainly on all fours.

TheFalconsmistress · 03/10/2013 17:44

congratulations MON xxx
