Natalieand · 26/09/2013 07:19

Question to all fellow cat owners? Do u think there is any truth that they know u will go into labour? Since yesterday the cat won't leave me alone she's even got into bed with me this morning and she NEVER does this? Maybe I'm just wishful thinking ...

MrsHoratioNelson · 26/09/2013 07:21

Crimey Umlauf what excitement in the middle of the night - makes me glad I put a glamorous incontinence disposable bed mat on when I changed the bed at the weekend.

I think pink waters is fine - it's only yellow or green you've got to worry about. Good luck!!

JellyCurls · 26/09/2013 07:29

Wow congrats umlauf hope things start moving soon. Take paracetamol and make sure you not dehydrated, labouring a baby is very thirsty work, and try get some rest. With DD my waters broke in middle of night and as we're clear was advised to go for a warm bath and then get some rest. Bath started contractions though so never got rest so maybe worth a try.

SC here at 39+3 but as DH still floored with whatever virus he's picked up its for the best. Still passing my bloody show, and lots of it, and tummy still got tightenings. Going to spend today upright and mobile to see if I can get things moving a little bit

Natalieand · 26/09/2013 07:33

jelly I suspect dh will recover from his man flu once things fully kick off :-)

Pinkforboys · 26/09/2013 07:36

Ooh, exciting Umlauf, like Badger that's how my labour started with my DS too. I expected to be in delivery by the morning but it took all day for the contractions to get to the 3min apart business. I second the advice to keep fed, hydrated and active (ish). Definitely don't forget to eat- you need the energy.

JellyCurls · 26/09/2013 07:37

Natalie would prefer he recovered now so he can help with school run and getting house organised!!!

Pinkforboys · 26/09/2013 07:43

Monkey at the rate my Mum and MiL are knitting I could probably send you some spares and kit out the rest of MNet!! I sent my MiL the wool cos it's so expensive in Australia and I'm a pure wool snob terrified she'd use some scarey polycrapalene yarn Baby knits are so small they only need a few balls so not too expensive to supplement her knitting habit.

In fact Warning: shameless friend promotion coming up for any keen knitters out there, my friend has just published her second knitting pattern book full of gorgeous knits for babies (some quite difficult mind) lullaby knits here

AnythingNotEverything · 26/09/2013 08:10

Fx for you today Umlauf. Hope things get moving I second (or third, or fourth) the advice to eat and stay hydrated, but don't forget to wee too. Our NCT facilitator was very keen to remind us of the need to keep seeing while in labour.

It's my birthday today! I am surrounded by vouchers for post pregnancy clothes and a spa day voucher for when baby may only be 6 weeks old. Another reason for baby to come ASAP!

I'm getting to that essential part in pregnancy now where I'd do anything to get the baby out. I'm ready to stop planning how I sit down/get up, how I turn over in bed and where my pillows are, regular wees to avoid a UTI, constantly checking for meconium stained discharge etc etc. Sorry for the self indulgent moan!

Thinking of all those who are struggling even more than me Thanks. I know how lucky I am really.

favellio · 26/09/2013 08:17

Happy birthday anything SmileWineThanks
How exciting umlauf, keep us posted Smile xx

PseudoBadger · 26/09/2013 08:26

Happy birthday Anything!

Keep going Umlauf, hopefully the headache is just dehydration and the stress of wondering when things will start properly :)

On the bus on the way for monitoring and then a growth scan at 11.20.

cazboldy · 26/09/2013 08:31

First of all thanks so much for all of your good wishes xx

Good Luck Umlauf xx

Re injection for the 3rd stage. I had it with my first 2 births, but had a nasty reaction to it the 2nd time, which left me with a hard and sore lump on my thigh for weeks.

Refused it the last 3 times, but they have pretty much said I have to have it this time, as apparently the more babies you have the higher your chance of bleeding.

Yes wicked she spooked, to be fair we spooked the pig first, then it ran off making a load of noise, she jumped - I let go, thinking it was safer (though totally not something I would usually do), but was already off balance, and fell onto my bump/right side. Am a little stiff/sore this morning, but not too bad really.

takingachance thats what's happening to mine (also kept at home) but they are living out anyway atm.

And Flyer (think it was you) ime I have healed better from healing naturally, than stitching, although only happened once each. I tore a little the first time and was stitched, and tore the 3rd time (probably as noone was with me to tell me not to push at crowning!) but left it and was much more comfy and healed quicker. - but have to say both were tiny tears.

Hope all those with tiny babies are doing ok?

Off to mw for 38 wk appt later.

cazboldy · 26/09/2013 08:32

oh and Many Happy Returns Anything FlowersCake

and Good Luck with the scan pseudo x

Mnippy · 26/09/2013 08:41

Good luck Umlauf! This is it!

Serious, I have very hot palms all the time. It's bizarre.

I've had the bed pads on my bed for some time now, as we paid a ridiculous amount for our mattress when we first moved in. But somehow it does make me hotter having the layer of plastic (even if it's below the sheet) as the bed can't ventilate, and I end up with boiling hot sweaty gross back. EUGH.

Anything - Cake

Mnippy · 26/09/2013 08:43

Oh, and note to baby - I would VERY much like to evict you now!! I feel like one of those trees that get taken over by a parasite plant and eventually die due to the weight of the plant.

roofio87 · 26/09/2013 08:48

oh exciting umlauf and interesting that you've not had many other signs that labour was imminent! !
me and dp are off for a full day of shopping today, including getting cot etc from ikea. left it a bit late, but only got our car yesterday. thinking after umlaufs night I might pop a sanitary/mat towel on just in case of any leaking while out!!

Umlauf · 26/09/2013 08:52

I know, it was lucky it was such a hot night as we were sleeping on top of the duvet which protected the mattress, otherwise the (new) mattress wouldve been ruined! In the waiting room now feeling a bit of a fraud as I still havent felt anything but its been 8 hours!! Sorry for no namechecking (on phone)

SWIL @39+3!!!!

pinkbuttons · 26/09/2013 08:54

MrsO27 · 26/09/2013 09:04

Good luck umlauf and happy birthday anything

Still have a stinking cold but loads to do today, including a presentation scan this afternoon. Bit nervous that they'll do that ECV thing afterwards if baby is breech but assuming I would have to make a separate appointment for that if necessary. Anyway, better drag my fat butt into the shower. Best of luck to everyone else labouring - or wanting to labour - today.

Flyer747 · 26/09/2013 09:19

Happy Birthday Anything ThanksWinehave a lovely day.

Good Luck to all that are scanning having appointments.

Umlauf you are on the home stretch now, it's all happening (well hopefully it'll start asap) I also found the exorcist comparison highly amusing Grin

We still need a LIT from someone umlauf...will you be the lady to deliver such news?!Grin

PseudoBadger · 26/09/2013 09:23

MrsO - do you want the ECV? They can't do it if you don't consent.

JellyCurls · 26/09/2013 09:35

What does LIT actually mean, sorry for being a bit thick
