Oh wow Umlauf! Any contractions?

Umlauf · 26/09/2013 01:36

No I don't think so, I have a bit of period pain but it's so mild it's hardly worth mentioning and there's no tightening to go with it.

I scared the shit out of DH though because I jumped out of bed and I'm wearing my granny's 60s long white cotton nightie as it's the only thing that fits, and I was just stood in the dark with liquid coming out and my hair all bedraggled and he said it was a perfect reenactment of the scene from the exorcist where the little girl wees herself!!

I can't get back to sleep I'm too excited!!

SeriousStuff · 26/09/2013 01:39

I don't blame you! I don't think I could sleep either!

If your DH is anything like mine, he's probably already sleeping again...I hope you either progress quickly or manage to sleep though, as you'll need all your energy.

I'm so excited for you!

Umlauf · 26/09/2013 01:44

Haha he is frantically tidying the baby's room!

I'm quite scared!! But excited too!! Eek!!

Wickedgirl · 26/09/2013 01:51

How exciting umlauf

tuckingfits · 26/09/2013 01:53

oh corrr umlauf!! How exciting!! Honestly though, try to get some rest, conserve energy for now. I'm not sure if you should phone the hospital to let them know - that's what I was advised to do in the instance that my waters go,just to give them a heads up really, but perhaps you were given different advice in Spain? Oh,exciting!

Serious that sounds a bit odd. I've been feeling very hot lately but I'm not sure the burning palms thing sounds quite right. Neither am I sure what I would do about it though. Don't know if I would phone triage,or if I would google the symptom probably a baaaaad idea but I hope you feel better & that someone with better advice comes along to answer your query.

SeriousStuff · 26/09/2013 02:02

Bless him Umlauf! Keep us posted.

Thanks tucking it just feels a bit strange. Will keep an eye on it I think...

Flyer747 · 26/09/2013 02:11

Eeek umlauf just woken up for toilet call....so exciting keep us posted! I hope things go quickly for you. Smile

Umlauf · 26/09/2013 02:16

Hmm they said to go in immediately if waters had blood or meconium in but if they didn't it was fine to wait until contractions or a few hours. I don't have a number for them!! I think I'll go in early morning and let them know, try and rest a bit tonight and wash all the bedding I may have leaked on Blush

Waters were clear but the sanitary towel is a bit pinkish- not sure if that's significant.

tucking I felt really really hot yesterday so maybe it's a sign!

Flyer747 · 26/09/2013 02:23

Oooh I wouldn't know what to do either...one of the none first time mums will hopefully be along on here to offer advice shortly I hope. So no contractions yet?

Umlauf · 26/09/2013 02:25

No not yet. I'm a bit bored!

Flyer747 · 26/09/2013 02:27

Lol....it's just one long waiting game this pregnancy/childbirth malarkey. I guess keep moving around I think maybe that'll help speed up or start contractions. Do you have a ball to bounce on?

kiwee · 26/09/2013 02:46

How exciting umlauf! Hope things start properly for you soon...perhaps little one having a quiet day earlier in week was a sign?

Just had a call from antenatal clinic that my c/s all booked in for 8th October (though could still be brought forward if scan next week showing more drop off in growth or I go into labour spontaneously before that). It all seems very real now. I might actually have to get round to packing hospital bag now!

Haylebop12 · 26/09/2013 02:52

umlauf eeek!!

(I'm just up expressing so thought I'd check any potential labour news)

As you know my waters went, then I started having increased pinkness to my very watery discharge which, when I showed the nurse in triage said was very normal. I really hope your contractions start soon!!

Haylebop12 · 26/09/2013 02:55

Oh and ps... This could explain your decreased movements...

Come on Bertie!

FeministInTraining · 26/09/2013 03:18

Up for wee trip- adding my eeeek!!

Hope things start moving for you Umlauf and that you manage to get some rest in the meantime... Don't think I would be able to though, will be too impatient and excited I think! Good luck, keep us posted!! X

cherrycherry41 · 26/09/2013 04:14

Umlauf good luck!!
I second what everyone says about keep moving- bounce on that ball and do some walking to get them contractions going, the more u do now the quicker it will happen for you!! So excited Grin

PseudoBadger · 26/09/2013 04:16

Good luck Umlauf! That's almost exactly how my waters broke with DS :o

chickieno1 · 26/09/2013 04:56

Wow just looked at mn before bed and was actually thinking of you umlauf!!!

I think definitely keep moving and ty and stay hydrated.

Good luck xx

cherrycherry41 · 26/09/2013 05:02

Any updates from jelly and GT?

monkeytree · 26/09/2013 06:08

S.C at 35+6

Hope all is well with you umlauf you made me giggle when I read your comment about the exorcist which is pretty great considering I've been up since 5.00 am and awake before then. Grrrhhh to the insomnia! Also last night I had really strong cramps in my leg which were probably responsible for waking me up. Anyone else have/had these? Lots of groaning from me and DH didn't seem to wake up, think I'm going to have to give DH a nudge if I go into labour during the night!

Pink Can relate to cancelling evening out. I felt exactly the same a couple of weeks ago and I seem to have become very antisocial at the moment.

Asked my mother whether she had started knitting anything for the baby to which she moaned about the price of wool and how its probably cheaper to buy something? oh and wasn't my neighbour going to knit something anyway? I know she hasn't much money but I think she's missing the point. Still I seemed to have learnt lots of lessons from her bl*dy awful mothering (what not to do). Particularly aggrieved as a distant friends mother asked if I liked knitted stuff for the baby (apparently distant mothers friend has knitted something) Is it too late to put myself up for adoption?

Feeling jealous of lady who lives round the corner with her new born telling me she's glad it's all over. She had her baby early and appears to have shrunk to her pre-baby size already. Feeling rather large all over now and wanting to be pushing baby in pram in what ever sunshine is left this year!

Sorry about the epic post. umlauf very excited for you

Umlauf · 26/09/2013 06:54

I've just woken up with a stinking headache and no contractions to speak of. Starting to think I must have dreamt it! Will have a shower and go down to the hospital I think in a bit.

Natalieand · 26/09/2013 06:59

Aww sorry to hear u have a head ache unlauf perhaps take some paracetamol now before it worsens?

The one night I don't check my phone in the night and something exciting happens!! Adding my big fat eeeeek!!!! Hope baby Bertie comes sooner rather than later :-) xx

pinkbuttons · 26/09/2013 07:15

eek! exciting night, sorry to hear nohing has kicked off yet umlauf really hope paracetemol helps your headache and contractions start soon!

Wonder if anymore babies from jelly or GT overnight too??

SC here 38+5 and fed up of getting no sleep. 5 hrs sleep and up 3 times for a wee is just excessive. bleugh

OrangeBlossom2 · 26/09/2013 07:16

Yay umlauf! Exciting! And I like to see the queue is being more respectably followed now! You were an early due date weren't you. Hope things move along soon.

I think DH might just be annoyed if I stood and leaked waters all over the new carpets beside rather than in bed where we have bought a posh waterproof cover! Maybe I should line the route to the loo with maternity mats! Grin (only half joking...)

Hope things are progressing nicely for GT and jelly too, congrats on the c section date kiwii and waves to Hayley. How is baby shark doing? (Sure you can't be convinced?!)
