I will be having the cord cut immediately and baby will also recieve the vitamin k jab and I will have the injection to help deliver the placenta too xx

PseudoBadger · 25/09/2013 21:48

MrsH I think no timescale is defined apps.who.int/rhl/pregnancy_childbirth/childbirth/3rd_stage/cd004074_abalose_com/en/ this is quite a good WHO article.

pinkbuttons · 25/09/2013 21:52

Just a quick one as heading off to bed, but just wondered if anyone had any good information about the placenta injection. just wondered about positives and negatives of it. Last time I just went with it and was nearly rushed to theatre with retained placenta. Not sure if that was due to the injection or just to tiredness as they told me.

caz glad all was ok at monitoring. hope your not feeling too bruised in the morning

jelly any more painful BH??

Glad things sound like theyre progressing GT

Looking forward to logging on in the morning with possible new babies Grin

whistlingdixie · 25/09/2013 21:54

Pinkforboys - you're right, its not a happy dilemma but when I pressed my new consultant for evidence / study info he said that he understood that the risks of and associated with c-section was marginally less than delaying beyond 41 wks at my advanced age (41yrs). So I opted for sweeps prior to induction at ~40 wks (exact date yet to be agreed).

GT good luck - hope things speed up for you this evening!!!

Caz so glad you're alright but I have to confess that I did sort of smile picturing a freak, carry-on-style horse-pig related incident!! Us city girls have no clue!! Grin

ananikifo · 25/09/2013 22:00

pinkbuttons the NCT teacher said evidence was inconclusive about whether the injection or no injection was better for reducing risk of retained placenta. I lost my brain months ago so I haven't done my own research to back this up.

MrsHoratioNelson · 25/09/2013 22:02

Reminds me of the time I emailed friends in London to say "I don't want to reinforce West Country stereotypes, but there is a cow loose in the car park and one of the partners is herding it..." Grin

Flyer747 · 25/09/2013 22:05

Caz glad things all well with baby. I never knew horses were scared of pigs, you learn something new everyday.

GT hope the contractions speed up and come morning you have baby GT.

Clapham did mil like the curry? Hope you didn't blow her head off with spice.

Dp poured me a glass of wine with dinner, I now feel light headed and tired. Cannot believe what a lightweight I am compared to 9 months ago.

Desperate measures in flyer household after dinner, really wanted something sweet, only thing we have in is cooking chocolate, anyway just polished off half a bar, it's bloody awful stuff Grin

Baby going wild tonight and lots of tightenings down stairs.

JellyCurls · 25/09/2013 22:05

Caz glad you ok after your fall

Pinkbuttons no more BH but lots if bloody show so hopefully it won't be too much longer. As of bedtime I am SC

chickieno1 · 25/09/2013 22:06

Fingers crossed things progress well for you gt

Hope all ok jelly

Glad monitoring was ok caz

Thinking of you and Isaac hayley

I think I missed your post iheart but hope all ok.

Had pizza today too, went for lunch date with dh. Had spicy diavola with extra chilli oil yum!

Sleep tight ladies

chickieno1 · 25/09/2013 22:07

How are you and baby tarlia?

And hope all is ok terrified

Flyer747 · 25/09/2013 22:07

Oooh exciting Jelly...baby hopefully on its way soon.

chickieno1 · 25/09/2013 22:16

Xpost s jelly show sounds promising!

Natalieand · 25/09/2013 22:36

Eeeek! GT is ip and we have someone else that could potentially go into labour any time even though technically we all could but that's not the point

I've had a lot of BH today too basically everytime I started being active perfect excuse to sit on my arse but now the kitchen cupboards are all de cluttered and the bottles and steraliser ready to go seriously shocked at how much out of date food I had in the cupboards!!

Hope every one manages to get at least a few hours sleep tonight xxx

claphammama · 25/09/2013 22:45

MIL survived my curry flyer. I went easy on chilli today and also prepared a much milder version for DS. He was OK and ate it but kept rubbing his tongue afterwards hehe Grin. It was quite funny really. Tough shit - the boy needs to get used to chilli if he wants to live in this house.

I also didn't know horses are scared of pigs!

Good point chickie - we haven't heard from terrified for a long time... and I also keep thinking about tarlia and her little boy

hope gt is LIT right now and good luck jelly! Who knows what news we will wake up to tomorrow - I will try to stop myself from refreshing throughout the night!

ps. I thought the injection was supposed to prevent retained placenta... interesting to know it's all inconclusive and just a theory ana...

moonblues · 25/09/2013 22:51

GT hope everything going well. Also the ladies who were having sections over the past few days. Good luck Jelly.

Strangely glad to hear that I'm not the only one who's feeling a bit irritable. So tired today, really couldn't face dragging myself into work, but made it through and now only 2 days left... How are all the other ladies who are still working getting on?

claphammama · 25/09/2013 23:02

by the way, pinkforboys loved your "urge to be rude to people"! Well put!

moonblues · 25/09/2013 23:02

Hayle hope Issac gets back to you soon.

Caz hope you're feeling better. You must have got such a fright.

tuckingfits · 25/09/2013 23:04

Haha clapham love the tough shit - the boy needs to get used to chili!! Hilarious. Grin

I have read that having the injection for a managed third stage (the placenta thing) only reduces the length of that stage by,on average,10 minutes. I did not experience it last time, having had a c section in the end. Feel very free to ignore all my random nuggets of information!

I had no idea there could be a drawback to allowing the cord to stop pulsating before cutting it. There really are so many aspects of childbirth to consider & make decisions on...

claphammama · 25/09/2013 23:12
Grin
tuckingfits · 25/09/2013 23:16

caz how scary for you. Glad all turned out ok,hope you aren't too battered & bruised when you wake up.

Good luck jelly - whichever way you hope it goes over night - I can't remember if you would prefer to have your baby now or wait until your DH has got rid of his germs!

chickie you look very glam on fb! Can someone remind me of what's going on for terrified please? I have lost track. And need to go back & check out what iheart posted.

Will do that now & then I think it's bedtime. I would have had a nap when DS did this afternoon but had to do masses of research into suitable second hand cars. Does anyone here have a Mercedes B-class?? Or a Ford Focus C-Max? I think we'll be deciding between those two. I'm swaying towards the b class,my parents will help us out (a lot) but it will basically be our car until it is run into the ground & dies like my poor Mazda which I've had for many many years & is costing more & more to keep running. I think the Mercedes will cope better with living outside (not in a garage rather than not watching tv with us of an evening) in a wet & often salty environment, than a Ford would. I do feel this is a terribly first world problem & am massivley grateful to my parents for making it possible for me to have something else to concern myself with!!

tuckingfits · 25/09/2013 23:25

Oh iheart sounds scary. I do hope you're feeling better & that the blood results were good.

presci good point on the antibacterial wipes - I bought a pack especially for my bag but they haven't made it into it yet,so I will endeavour to remember to take them upstairs with me when I go. Thanks for the timely reminder :)

funkky · 25/09/2013 23:26

Re: sweep. I tried to have one done last week at 39 weeks, but when consultant checked if possible, my cervix was still closed so it was not possible to do actual sweep. She Suggested sex as sperm helps soften the cervix or something like that...........,

SeriousStuff · 26/09/2013 01:19

Is anyone else feeling really hot? It's not quite like a hot flush because the one I'm having at the moment has lasted nearly an hour already...it doesn't feel like a temperature, I just feel like I want to strip off and stand in the garden all night!

Umlauf · 26/09/2013 01:24

Eek waters broken!!!!

Not sure what to do...

Going to try and get some sleep!!

SeriousStuff · 26/09/2013 01:32

...palms of my hands feel like they're on fire!
