Thought I would treat you to a new thread as you lot are far too busy growing new people to do it Grin

solars it's great that your scan went well. I agree with everyone else you should def come on here for a moan. The rest if us do so you may as well join us.

Hi nurse

solars that sounds very stressful, I think you did the right thing saying no to the baby shower. If you don't mind me asking what is other tradition for 6 days after baby arrives.

maybe when I was at my 12 week scan with ds they talked about a hospital tour but it was cancelled due to infection control. So it's a lovely YouTube clip now.

Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better today maybe.

I very randomly vomited today, I felt fine then changed ds' nappy and had to run to bathroom. He didn't have a clue what was going on, cried the whole time and kept trying to hug me. Made me feel guilty but nothing I could do at the time.

SweetieTime · 02/10/2013 20:36

Solars great news on the scan. As usual boo has some good suggestions, freezer food is genius, to distract MIL from bugging you. Can you also ask DH to have a discrete word saying that you are not wanting this sort of fuss especially with her friends.

EverythingIsTicketyBoo · 03/10/2013 07:14

Ladies, just a quick one to apologise for posting in here yesterday. I'm clearly still ttc, and therefore posted in the wrong place. Hopefully I'll be over here very soon, but I'll leave you all to it until then - wish me luck!! X

NoMaybeAboutIt · 03/10/2013 11:24

Don't be silly nurse! We love new blood

Thanks for the breakfast Boo Smile

Grin Sparks. I know what you mean, at the end of the day. You'll be in your room and then either on the ward or at home. Not all that much to see really.

Hope you feel better today Pen

How'd it go last night Keep?

ThedementedPenguin · 03/10/2013 11:37

I feel awful. I had a shit nights sleep, spent most of it in the bathroom, I felt faint all night, hot and shivery. Then this morning I came down to have toast and I threw up.

Feeling a bit better but having lots of stomach cramps. Not sure what to take to help.

How's everyone else? Doing better than me I hope?

NoMaybeAboutIt · 03/10/2013 12:27

Sounds like you might have a stomach bug pen. Not much you can do others than keep your fluids up and take some paracetamol for the temperature. You poor thing Sad

Solars · 03/10/2013 14:34

Oh Pen you poor thing. I would just stick with the paracetamol and agree with Maybe it sounds more like a tummy bug. The custom at 6 days birth is best described like a blessing for the baby but it involves inviting families and friends as I understand it. I know they do little foot prints of the baby and maybe even hand prints of the baby I think, it's a long time since I've been to one, as again not many people do them. Having said that different families do different things, so not sure what the mil will propose here. These days some women just call people around to 'wet the baby's head' so to speak! just a gathering really. But it's just dependant on how I feel after the birth and how baby is.

Oh Boo that's a brilliant idea of yours I was going to ask my mum anyway to make some freezer food because I regularly crave her food anyway but asking her to do some too would be good. Plus I like your custom of the 6th day after the birth Grin

Sweetie how are you getting now?

Nurse you're welcome anytime and glad to hear you're feeling better.

Trix glad to hear your itching problem was solved. Enjoy the yoga classes, I'm sure the teacher will make sure you're doing it at your pace and what you're comfortable with. I start my yoga classes next week.

Maybe I'm so pleased you've been able to eat more! hurrah!

Keep what was the house like? I don't think I'd ever been checked before for thalassemia and the dr looked through my records and found nothing but I thought it was a long shot anyway as the amount of blood tests I've had I'm pretty sure it would have been picked up by now. Thankfully I was right as it came back negative today.

The gp called so no thalassemia and my iron levels were ok but were on the low side of normal but my haemoglobin levels are still low so he decided I should have the iron tablets anyway, of what joy! I've also managed to get my flu jab moved forward to this Saturday now instead of having to wait a whole month.

keepitgoing · 03/10/2013 15:03

i agree nurse - you are very welcome! Anyway, you'll be here for real very shortly.

pen you poor thing, i agree that it sounds like some sort of a bug, or food poisoning? Try and keep your temperature down with paracetamol, and just rest and drink lots of fluids.

last night the viewing was good - loved the house but the garden was quite small. Plus DH is keen on seeing some places more rural before we decide.

Knowle, lapworth, Henley in arden, then round redditch maybe though not been there yet, and seeing somewhere in lickey hills on Sunday. Basically we don't know yet, but within 45 mins of heartlands. Though I think that's quite a long commute...

Hmm, which is why I'm keen on being cycling distance to work/town. Going to see somewhere on oxford road tonight.

keepitgoing · 04/10/2013 17:16

I think that tradition sounds quite lovely solars. Does it have to be so soon after birth?

We are going to an nct nearly new sale tomorrow. Apparently you need Sharp elbows, I'll let dh don round getting things while I protect my bump :)

Bumpiemalumpie · 04/10/2013 18:59

Hello all, sorry for the absence.

Sounds like lots of great things have been going on.

trix I started yoga, we chat for a bit, do some stretching, relaxation and about 20mins worth of yoga, then we have a topic to discuss (birthing positions, painrelief etc) and then some more relaxation, it is not taxing but has been great as our teacher is midwife and we can ask her anything!!.

I have lost alot of will reading through everything!! But it seems that lots of good scanning has been going on.

Have just come back a day early from our last 'babymoon' prior to baby's (hopefully) safe arrival in Jan. I got so bored!!! We went 2 hours down the road as I was scared to go abroad in case anything went wrong (medically) We stayed in a lovely little cottage, it really was cute but there was no internet or phone signal, I didn't know this would be an issue but my god! It took me so long to relax that by the time I was relaxed the weather had turned and we decided to come home as we couldn't do much that didn't cost lots of money :( sorry for the whinge.

On the upside, Bean has been kicking around like mad and DH has started to read to him/her which seems to be well received!

xx

Solars · 04/10/2013 21:23

Yes Keep it does sound nice but I think there is some significance why it has to be at 6 days which is a shame. I will double check with my mum, I wouldn't mind doing it but just depends on how the birth goes etc. let us know how you get on at the nct sale, I'm going to one next weekend so curious to know what they're like.

Shame your babymoon wasn't relaxing Bumpie. We are thinking of doing a short weekend break to Paris via the eurostar in November. How sweet that the little one is responding to DH's voice!

SweetieTime · 05/10/2013 12:01

Morning all, I am full of cold so feeling very sorry for myself but cup of tea and mini battenberg is perking me up. I proper luffs battenberg.

Sparks they don't do tours of our hospital anymore, I think there is a virtual tour but the link doesn't work. I think best not to know sometime as what will be will be.

Bumpie sorry your were so bored on your baby moon but I can totally understand it. DH kept wanting us to go abroad when first diffed, I don't think he understood the worry of medical issues and having to face those in a foreign place. Luckily never came to pass but I am not fussed that we may have missed a week in the sun.

Keep NCT sale sound interesting let us know what bargains you get.

Maybe how you feeling lovely? Hope the meds are sorting you out good and proper.

I went to see a twins Mum yesterday to borrow some books from her. She was telling me all hints and tips. I love meeting other twin Mums, all of who have been lovely. She text me this morning with some other things she found useful in the early days. She had twin girls who were about 2.5-3. One of her girls was also called our top name, do you think it is a sign????

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend making the most of the good weather.

keepitgoing · 05/10/2013 19:27

hey - how is everyone doing? sweetie i'm sorry you're feelingbad but good news on t eh twins lady. Do you think you'll keep intouch?

bumpie sorry you didn't enjoy your babymoon. We are going to go away i think in 4 weeks, which'll be the weekend i finish work. Not sure where. I'll be 36 weeks, so walking int he peak district may not be the best idea. Hmm. sparks any ideas? What about warwick or stratford. I don't mind really, it'll just be nice to get away and not have jobs to do all the time.

So the NCT sale was great, if tiring. Get there early, know what you want, split up. As we were getting some big things we had to take turns guarding the loot while the other one went round. We got a sling, bouncy chair, baby gym/mat thing, changing mat, some clothes like snowsuits, hats and gloves, muslins, sheets, blankets, sleeping bag. All for just under £100 so i think that's pretty good. DH is v pleased with the almost brand new mamas and papas morph carrier for £22!

Loopyaboutmy2boys · 05/10/2013 20:34

Keep Stratford is nice, I grew up there, depending on what you like there is Shakespeare stuff, lots of national trust places not too far away, lots of pretty villages, plenty of shops and restaurants, and a cinema and the theatres. Other places nearby to there are Broadway, Chipping Campden, and Mickleton which is home to the pudding club ;)

Places to live, Knowle is viewed as posh/nice. If you are thinking of a long term home, Henley would be good as that would put you in catchment for the grammar schools in Stratford, and I think possibly also for Alcester, if you want to aim for those schools. I went to the girls grammar and then moved to Alcester for my A levels, and am aiming to move up there so my dc's can be educated there. (But I know not everyone agrees with grammar schools/ single sex schools)

Loopyaboutmy2boys · 05/10/2013 20:38

(And personally I would also avoid Redditch, lots of rough bits and the accent isn't great, but Alcester is nice and Coughton has some nice houses too although the road that runs through it does get rather busy and is a pain with the speed cameras...)

Solars · 05/10/2013 21:03

Sweetie hope you're feeling a bit better now. It must be great to meet someone who has been through what you're about to go through.

Oooo Keep the sale sounds really good, looks like you got some bargains there! I'm looking forward to going to my local one next week now. I'm going with a lady who I met on my local mumsnet, she's due a week after me and we've met and conversed a few times now.

I had a terrible nights sleep, I seem to have them every now and again, although this time I woke up because MrS elbowed me in the head Hmm I went to the toilet after that and then couldn't get back to sleep but I think I got to feel a few flutterings in the night! not sure if they were though. We were meant to go to kiddicare this afternoon to check out prams etc but I was so exhausted this afternoon and have been dozing on and off all afternoon and evening. I also had my flu jab this morning, arm is feeling a little stiff around the injection site but otherwise ok. I was told to keep it moving so it doesn't stiffen up.

How is everyone else doing?

ThedementedPenguin · 05/10/2013 21:23

sweetie hope you are feeling better soon.

keep that was a fantastic day, I'm sure you are very happy with all your purchases. It's great when you can find some good bargains.

solars hope you have a better nights sleep tonight.

I'm finally feeling better. Yesterday I had the most awful stomach cramps, couldn't face any food, although I did manage toast and rice. Today I have felt so much better, I think my body is trying to make up the lack of food I've had past few days. I've been starving today. I'm just so glad I'm back to normal-ish.

How's everyone else?
