Dp's mates are all coming over tonight for some food and a movie etc. I'm happy to have them over (most still live at home so they tend to congregate here and obvs won't be doing it much longer! !) and they're nice lads but at the same time I so can't be arsed!! I want to slob out in my pjs alone!!

BowlFullofJelly · 21/09/2013 17:27

You're very nice roofio, i would have a proper strop on if i had to stay in clothes after 7pm.

Ok hospital bag now packed, so come on baby, mummy is ready!

JellyCurls · 21/09/2013 17:31

Can I just come on here to rant? DS was playing upstairs and came down to tell me he put the clothes away. Bit confused so I went to check and he has unpacked my hospital bag for me. So far have found maternity pads under his pillow, my Jammies under my pillow and my slippers in the washing basket. Think I going to have a long night finding the bag contents...

PseudoBadger · 21/09/2013 17:38

DS just told me that his baby sister is coming home soon and he's going to give her a little pink bunny toy. Love him
I said I hope she comes sooner rather than later :o
I'm getting sharp pains on my right hand side through my lower back and lower tummy area, but not lasting long at all, not regularly spaced and only on one side.

Sorry wicked but it did make me laugh!

TheFalconsmistress · 21/09/2013 18:04

HI everyone just catching up :)

Willow had a lot of poops of meconium last night but she has got to the milky poo as of this morning and has been sleeping and eating all day very contented Smile

Pseudo sounds promising!

clapham I have been crying on and off all day but i'm not sad at all its bizarre I cried because DH spilt my juice over with his big clumsy feet Confused so it not seeming to calm down as of yet for me!

I am 28, 29 very soon and really not sure I could go through another pregnancy like that I always wanted lots of kids but in reality 2 would be perfect for now at least!

On the BF/FF subject it is really emotive but I think that only happens to me when I talk to militant bf's especially who even when dc's get very ill and need tops ups etc you would think your feeding arsenic Hmm I have always just thought do what's right by you and your dc. DS for example was a hoover straight on the boob post delivery great! the not so great part was I lost so much blood milk did not appear at all so he had FF but he still rooted till he was about 18 months even on the bottle!
DD here no root reflex in her at all she has been offered boob periodically since delivery I really hoped to try do some with her but she just does not "get" it and get frustrated and upset so I give her a bottle and she sleeps and smiles in her dreams and it makes me so proud to know she is so content. I could not give a flying fig what people think the fact she is happy and healthy is the most important thing! Im sure its not age Nat just what suits you and your family.

Other than that I tried to go food shopping not a good idea 32 hrs after birth I could have threw myself on the floor crying the pain i was in. Its the after pains/contractions and muscle pain MW came out and said I was mad and should rest!!! so away to do that have great big snuggles on the bed with Willow watching some bad tv, Miss being so easy to catch up.

Oh and thank you for all your lovely comments on FB im very proud of her!

nellys and tarlia and baby thinking of you oh and hope twins are doing well legally

roxvox · 21/09/2013 18:08

Is anyone using evening primrose oil and/or red raspberry leaf tablets?

chickieno1 · 21/09/2013 18:10

Aww clapham hope you're feeling better now. Had a craving for maltesers early on in preg but the chocolate here tastes different boo.

jelly it's great your ds is tidying up :). Not so much fun trying to figure out where he put everything! We went through that, not so bad at the minute. Now we just have toys books etc lying all over the place.

I'm in the geriatric mums group :) 38. I think this might be the last preg although when dh said that a few weeks ago I wanted to cry :(. We ll see what happens. I was definitely knackered this time think combination of age and having a toddler to run after.

Seeing bf mums was very common in sw London. Nobody cared, not sure what it'll be like here. I know in Ireland not so common. In laws didn't say anything to me but they were a bit Hmm. I'm in no way militant about it though and every woman should be supported in her choices!

And flyer I would love a stash of hotel slippers :). My dh always steals mine!

Hope you're progressing well ruby

chickieno1 · 21/09/2013 18:13

Xpost s falcon. Thanks for the update. Glad little willow is contented. Take it easy no shopping unless its online!!

HotSoupDumpling · 21/09/2013 18:13

Oh no Jelly!!

Re muslins, I've said it before, but don't get the mothercare ones! Really rough compared to the others.

I'm pretty sure my dates are wrong, since I know when I ovulated (was using the clearblue monitor). But whatever!

Agree so so emphatically with all you guys about not judging other women's births/feeding plans etc. Seriously, the differences between the options (ELCS/vaginal birth/FF/BF) in terms of risks and consequences fior mum and baby are minute compared to other factors. (Unless anyone is thinking of e.g. using a rusty machete to cut it out of you in the middle of a jungle then banging it repeatedly on a rock then feeding it vodka through its eyeballs.)

HotSoupDumpling · 21/09/2013 18:13

Whoops, sorry guys!

GTbaby · 21/09/2013 18:14

Just wondering. My friend who is 41 is preg was told she would be induced due to still birth risk. Has anyone else had that?

chickieno1 · 21/09/2013 18:15

I agree hotsoup the mothercare muslins are terrible!! Ikea ones not too bad. Thick and quite big, very cheap although that was few years ago

OrangeBlossom2 · 21/09/2013 18:30

Oh dear we only bought the mothercare ones and one pack of ikea. If they are hideous we will buy some more.

Back from nct class. A fun practical one today with bathing, nappy changing, massage etc.

Hope you are feeling better now Clapham. I was very emotional and fed up last night too and just needed a cuddle.

Soupqueen · 21/09/2013 18:34

GT, here they would induce at 39 weeks if no natural labour before that - I think from age 40 onwards.

I'm 37, DH is 40 and I'd love another (I reserve the right to change my mind after I've had this one though!), DH not so keen, partly age but mostly financial. Dread to think what age we'll be working to in order to put more than one through university, if we could afford to at all (I know that may not be the path they choose, but I'd hate the opportunity to be denied them) We're both overanalysers though, it's one of the reasons we waited so long for this one, we wanted to be in a secure position.

xuntitledx · 21/09/2013 18:35

roxvox - I've started taking raspberry leaf tablets but only since Wednesday - doing nothing so far!!

Soupqueen · 21/09/2013 18:37

I've been having period like pains this afternoon, along with achey thighs. I'm assuming this is just my body gearing up for what's to come and not a sign of anything happening?

Shirehobbit · 21/09/2013 18:38

Lol @ machete and vodka hotsoup Grin

We have some Boots muslins and a couple of sets that were given as gifts. I've washed them and they all feel soft enough to me?

A lovely friend brought over a gift bag packed with stuff for me today - a home knitted bunny and a gorgeous homemade changing bag, packed with a gro-bag and loads of sleepsuits. So kind and thoughtful - I was speechless.

OrangeBlossom2 · 21/09/2013 18:39

Making my first cup of raspberry leaf tea now! Brew

Shirehobbit · 21/09/2013 18:46

I've been having raspberry leaf tea for a week and will start the capsules this week.
I'll start the oil once I'm on Maternity Leave.

HotSoupDumpling · 21/09/2013 19:04

Orange - don't worry, they'll still function well as muslins! I was given some and will use them and baby won't know the difference...

Ladies, humph, I overheard DP going into detail on the phone to my ILs re exactly how much weight I had gained in 1st, 2nd, 3rd trimester. Now, I am not sensitive about my weight, and generally happy to discuss pregnancy weight with people, but AIBU in thinking this is inappropriate for my DP to hold forth on without me agreeing? (Even worse, he exaggerated hugely and got my weights WRONG!) So cross with him.

Shirehobbit · 21/09/2013 19:08

Totally not unreasonable at all - I'd be steaming Angry

Slippysnow · 21/09/2013 19:16

I really wanted to start raspberry leaf tea early and ease myself starting with a low dose and increasing. But I chickened out due to midwife not giving me a definitive answer, she said she'd avoid them until 35weeks because they work so well for some women, then she said to consult a herbalist (who reccomended 36weeks). On the nct website it said 32 weeks. So I've had mixed messages, the midwife then concluded by saying but if you start that late you may not get all the benefits and your cervix may not strengthen in the short period helpful .

I know some people on here have started early and have been fine, my head is saying it will be fine but my heart is having doubts. Pathetic all in all!! But I've decided to start 35+ 5 then I'm in the middle ;)
