Mouses!!

I was born at 37 weeks exactly when my mothers waters broke at Walthamstow dog racing track (my patents swear they were being ironic!) at 36+5. Labour was 8 hours, like mine with DD. I weighed 5lb 10oz and was a good baby except I always wanted to be close to my mum, not in my cot etc! Mum had an episiotomy, as did I with DD. my mother's labours then got later (gestation) and shorter within each of my three siblings, until my little brother who was two weeks late with a 45 minute labour!!!! Mum bf us all until we were 18 months - 2. She's then became a bf counsellor!!

Sorry to hear pain isn't amounting to progress Falcon.

Tarlia - rest as much as you can tonight.... Could be a big couple of days coming up!!

My news: Hugo is well up over his birth weight and Valentina us also nearly there.... The breast feeding is working great!

legallyblond · 19/09/2013 18:52

God - excuse all the typos.... Tandem feeding as I type!

JellyCurls · 19/09/2013 19:10

I was born 3 weeks early at 6lb 3oz and mum was induced due to high BP. A jaundiced sleepy baby I spent my first week lying on the hospital window ledge catching sun as it was a hot sunny June. Mum says I was born talking!

Getting lots of cramps in tummy and back tonight so DH away to run me a bath. Feel a bit damp down below but not convinced my pelvic floor hasn't just given up although doesn't smell like urine, will keep a pad on and see how things progress. Lets see if any truth in the story that a full moon encourages waters to break naturally

MotherOfNations · 19/09/2013 19:18

Amnioic fluid is sweet smelling Jelly

BowlFullofJelly · 19/09/2013 19:20

Ohh jelly, how exciting. You could be our first term natural labour!

Kudos for typing at all while tandem feeding legally, how on earth is that physically possible?

Just has midwife round so birth plan is done. She has also agreed to attempt a sweep at 40 week appointment.

Wonder how tarlia is getting on.

PseudoBadger · 19/09/2013 19:37

Right consultant's plan is to keep going towards section date of 7th Oct. Monitor bp, urine and baby every Monday and Thursday until then with a scan next Thursday for growth and fluid check. I monitor bp at home and go to triage if its above 150/100 or if I think there are reduced movements, labour etc. so that's it!

Evening all.
SC @ 36+4

I am just sorry not to be able to name check everyone, just a little bit exhausted - I think I'll be on my knees by next Friday pm, as the verbal inspection report is delivered. Off to Castleton for a Geography field trip, tomorrow. Ironic yay Wink

I do enjoy lurking and reading, though. As ever, hope those suffering get some respite, massive congrats on the bf legally and sounds like a positive consult pseudo.

I arrived, mid-afternoon, after a 6hr-ish labour, a day after EDD, at 8lb something.
My elder brother was very late though (over 2 weeks, in the pre-induction world) and was over 9lb. So anyone's guess is when this one will make an appearance.

KarmaBiatch · 19/09/2013 20:23

I was a 9lb2oz baby who was 6 days late after a 14 hour labour. My big big brother was 4 days early and 8lb11oz, so anything could happen with my labour! I'm hoping she's early though, got a scan tomorrow to see what they think baby's weight is, so that'll be interesting Smile

Having a bit of a shitty 'I don't feel right' kind of day, feels like the beginning of flu or something, and I'm still in my jammies! Had a day infront the tele catching up with crap on tv.. not got the energy for anything! Hoping a good (ha) nights sleep might sort me out!

Looking forward to news of any babies born today Smile

OrangeBlossom2 · 19/09/2013 20:30

Happy full moon. Hope things progress for those wanting them too tonight!

I was induced 10 days late and weighed 6lb 12.
DH was also quite late and weighed about 8lb I think.

We looked through his baby book at the ILs a few weekends ago.
His was more detailed than younger brothers and long standing family joke that there are no photos of his sister - third child.

My tens machine arrived today. Presume it is ok to try out while not in labour?

monkeytree · 19/09/2013 20:49

Orange Hope you have recovered from your dizzy spells and are feeling O.K

thanks for your tips re pencil grip etc, will look in more detail over the next few days. Also got some very useful feedback from the education board and feeling calmer about the issue. Parents evening in November so will re-evaluate at this time.

OrangeBlossom2 · 19/09/2013 20:59

Glad you are feeling calmer about it monkey. Felt a bit dizzy again in the shower this morning but probably just too hot this time.

KarmaBiatch · 19/09/2013 21:58

nobody has added a comment in an hour.. how unusual for us Octobees! I wonder if you're all in labour due to the full moon! Grin

monkeytree · 19/09/2013 22:03

Somebody posted about all the things that are frustrating them about pregnancy. Now getting very frustrated myself with all the things I can't do which are quite trivial really ie struggling to pick up after DD. Normally manage to juggle everything really well but over the last weeks little things seem to trigger me off and I'm finding myself with little patience. I'm most concerned about having so little patience with DD. She really needs me at the moment as there is change going on with the new baby on the way and she has just started junior school where more is expected and mixed classes etc.

It's making me wonder how on earth I'm going to cope with two DD's. DD has already told me she wishes that I had just her although on the other hand she can be really excited about the arrival of the new DD.

I'm finding it difficult to relax and DH also gets it in the neck although he does work really hard both at work and at home but I seem to keep having a go at him due to my frustration and the silly little things he does like not watching the clock when putting DD to bed.

Really don't like feeling so irrational and normally we pull together to get things done - housework, gardening decorating, looking after DD etc. Need to relax a little but its easier said than done when I struggle to get about and feeling breathless at times. I think I'm a bit larger with this DD. Have very little other practical or emotional support really in terms of parental/friendship support. Sorry about the long post just nice to have somewhere to express it all.

Pinkforboys · 19/09/2013 22:12

Have we all been glued to the telly? Peaky Blinders here- and oooh, I could just dive into Cillian Murphy's ice-blue eyes....

Ah monkey sounds like you're having a very normal emotional flutter. It's going to be interesting to see how our DCs cope with the change- and us too! But in the long run it's got to be worth it.

orange be wary of the tens pre-labour. I remember DH turning it on when I was still in early stages of labour and hated it, but it really worked when I was more established.

Off to bed now, reflux permitting. Sleep well all- tho I look forward to reading your 3am chatter over brekkie xxx

HotSoupDumpling · 19/09/2013 22:13

Thanks for the tip on baby bundlers! I was going to by the John Lewis ones (been eyeing them up for ages...DP can barely button a duvet cover competently much less poppers on a babygro at 3am...) but the M&S ones are cheaper, come in Newborn size and don't have a cartoon on them - perfect for me!

Sending positive vibes to Falcon. And Jelly, re the leaking.

moonblues · 19/09/2013 22:17

Hey everyone - so much to catch up on!

Tarlia hope the induction is going well. pseudo glad to hear we're still c-section date buddies. Hope your BP stays down with the meds.

falcon sending hugs. I had a really long labour with my DS so I sympathise. He still likes to do his own thing (ie not what he is being asked to so) at his own pace, so I think it was just his personality exerting itself early. Maybe you'll end up with a very chilled, laid back baby.

I could also use advice about nursing bras that don't break the bank. That Bravado one looks nice though so might order one of those. I'm not very good at spending money on myself, I'd much rather go shopping for the kids.

I'm so tired. Can't wait to finish work next week. Starting to get uncomfortable in any position if I'm sitting, lying or standing for any length of time. I seem to have a foot under my ribs most of the time.

Good luck for Sat ruby. Hope you managed to get tomorrow off work and get a chance to rest.

legally amazed that you can type and tandem feed at the same time. Takes multitasking to a whole new level! :)

ananikifo · 19/09/2013 22:23

How many nursing bras does a woman need? That makes a huge difference in which ones I can afford.

Wickedgirl · 19/09/2013 22:27

Legally...... Well done! I hope you are as impressed with yourself as we all are. Bf two babies must be exhausting!

Pink......I've given up with normal shoes and am just wearing ballet pumps style of shoe all the time as I can slip them on and off easily so no bending down.

Pseudo......how do you feel about that?

I got my bloods back today......my iron level is now 11 which means that I can use the MLU as it had to be 10 or higher. 37+1 SC.

xfilefan · 19/09/2013 22:29

Orange - I think my tens machine said not to use before labour, or maybe before 37 weeks, as it can bring on labour? I cant remember exactly what it said but it was in the instructions somewhere?

funkky · 19/09/2013 22:30

Saw midwife today at 39+1. She examined me internally to see if they could do a sweep but while she could feel baby's head was 3/5ths engaged, cervix is quite tightly closed so no chance of sweep. I screamed my head off during the examination and when she saw I requested no pain relief during labour, she said 'you might want to reconsider having some form of pain relief in your birth plan!'

I know my pain threshold is very low and its got me worried how I will be able to cope in labour, when am screaming just to gt examined internally.

Jealous of new mums, I am due next week but no pains, no twinges, no show, no leaky boobs, cervix closed, DH's work from home allowance is starting to expire - i better get bouncing on tht ball!

MrsO27 · 19/09/2013 22:30

End is in sight monkey Cake Brew Do you have time to have some fun family time over the weekend? Get away from the chores etc.?
I'm feeling odd tonight too. Just sunk in that I might have to have a cs if lo remains breech. I know loads on here are having a section, I just never imagined it myself for some reason. Always pictured me huffing and puffing it out!

Flyer747 · 19/09/2013 22:36

Funky get taking that evening primrose oil. I've been reading up and people are saying great things about it. I've just bought some this evening.

PseudoBadger · 19/09/2013 22:37

Wicked DS was born at 38 weeks (induced) so I was kind of hoping they'd move the cs forward. Especially since I've had the steroids. But that's very selfish of me. If I can manage my BP I know it's best she stay in as long as possible. It's only a couple more weeks of numb hands and heartburn and no sleep after all!

OP posts:
favellio · 19/09/2013 22:42

I got 4 nursing bras from a big mothercare store. They were £16-£18 each and been wearing the last couple of days with no problems. I've also got lots of the soft crop top style bras to wear when breast feeding at home.

I'm in so much pain in my pelvis. Feels like a bowling ball is resting in there (fingers crossed it means heads engaged!) and combined with severe SPD it feels like my pelvis is splitting with every step I take Confused

On the plus side, I have managed to eat lunch out every day this week Smile

Has anyone else got a non-maternal, childless best friend? I love my best friend to bits, we've grown up together and do everything together....holidays, nights out, shopping etc but she hasn't got any other friends that she's particularly close to like we are to do that stuff with, so now I'm having a baby and won't be at a disposal to do all this stuff at the drop of a hat, she's unintentionally making me feel bad coz I know she won't get to go on holiday, nights out etc til I can go again (her DH is a DJ and a workaholic who won't take time off so they can go on holiday- prick!) I know she'll love the baby and I'll include her as much as poss but it's hard to make her understand that although my life is gonna change massively, hers doesn't have to!

sillyoldfool · 19/09/2013 22:43

Sorry for jumping in rudely. I've been lurking, I'm due on the 8th with dd3.
I just had to say don't worry funkky- I gave birth to dd2 with nothing but a tens machine to help, she was back to back all the way out and 10lb 3oz....I screamed when they tried to do a sweep though! And I was induced with dd1, had some gas and air, the worst thing of the whole birth was the internals and having the pessaries put in to induce me. So you'll probably be fine. Labour pains build up slowly so your body has a chance to get used to them, totally different to a sweep/internal.
