A new thread for you all to play with?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MacCrackles · 25/09/2013 14:46

Hi all Maybies

Sorry been bit hugely slack at posting! Am sat at ATS waiting for my car to be MOT'd.

After complaining mentioning that I had very few symptoms, I'm now just as I was with DD pregnancy. Except think a bit worse, I'm older Grin and more tired! Feeling icky in afternoons & evenings, gone off certain foods & tea, and heightened sense of smell! Still, really can't complain.

So pleased to hear of all happy heartbeats & scans! Yaaay!!!

I have my booking in appointment next Tuesday, have already had to lie at work. They are not going to be best pleased when I tell them. Ho hum!

I had a home birth for my DC2 and it was amazing. Not for everyone though and I think I'll be too high risk for this one but fingers crossed.

Sticky bean/raspberry/blueberry dust to all.

Between 7+4 and 8+1

hamncheese · 25/09/2013 15:08

Ah just found this post. Chatty lot you are!

Not been on, practically in bed for two weeks. Found it really hard to get water in for a bit there worried I'd end up on a drip or something. Its dire. Worse than DS. Oh and I have the cold too SUPER!

Anyway meant to have a booking in in a weeks time but have an independent midwife coming out tomorrow night to discuss that instead. Excited! Imagine... Continuity of care and no-one saying hey ham, I know you are having a back to back labour but I don't care, I'm not letting you move from lying on your back! Bliss!

Promise I'm not always doom and gloom its just the worst trimester is getting me down so much.

Anyone else checking out an independent midwife or a doula?

Getting taken to asda now to wander around pointing at things that may not make me feel sick, first time out of the house in a week.

8+4 (and counting every minute)

randdom · 25/09/2013 15:20

I am exhausted, I am sitting at work trying to keep my eyes open :( not fun!

mumof2aimingfor4 · 25/09/2013 16:34

I had an afternoon nap with the toddlers I look after. Age definitely plays a big part in how your body deals with pregnancy. I've guilted the OH into getting a takeaway tonight, asked him if he "would mind buying his baby making fiancé a takeaway so that she can sit on her lazy ass and watch a dvd tonight."

thistlelicker · 25/09/2013 16:36

I've just had a nap too! I'm awake from anything from 430am! I'm at work for the next two days then I think I have five days off!!

mumof2aimingfor4 · 25/09/2013 16:38

thistle did you wake up feeling better for it? I woke up with a hard dose of nausea!

ItalianWiking84 · 25/09/2013 16:57

Thanks all for the reassurance, so no bleeding Means no worringing?

thistlelicker · 25/09/2013 17:02

I just feel more tired !!

AliOh · 25/09/2013 17:09

Oh jealous of you all having afternoon naps! Can't complain though I only work 16 hours so get to finish at 2pm and chill for a couple of hours before I have to think about cooking/cleaning etc!

ItalianWiking I think it's natural to be a little worried/nervous and like someone posted earlier my mum said I will worry all the way through and then once baby is born too so get used to it! I wouldn't say there is any cause for concern unless you experience a lot of pain or bleeding. I know it's easier said than done because I worried an awful lot in the first couple of weeks

Lollywig · 25/09/2013 17:32

Hey Maybies, old and new.

Been a bit slack of late, due to feeling generally quite SHAGGED (and not in a good way, barely any romps here either) and not very motivated to do anything except sleep. I find when I'm at work and busy I'm fine but when at home - I just feel knackered and nauseous. Luckily DH has been sweet and is keeping on top of things and my mum visited which means for once the house is fairly clean and tidy!

Very pleased to hear that people are having positive results on their scans, that is lovely news.

The 7 week mark has meant I am feeling more symptoms, eg mega fatigue and off-my-food. I too have been craving lots of fruit and juices. Although tonight we're having Indian takeaway... Yum.

Went to a party on Sat night and had a great night without booze! Dancing all night, didn't think this was possible! What a revelation. Think the embryo enjoyed its jiggle.

Check this out for mega-preggo-brain. Parked up in a multi-storey in Leeds yesterday for a work meeting. Came back - car not there. Shitting self it had been nicked... Til I saw it on a lower level, smashed into a pristine Merc. I had forgotten the small matter of the handbrake. Slightly gutted about the £350 excess I'll be paying and the fact that 7 years no claims are down the drain but at least no-one was hurt. Mr Mercedes was really nice about it so I didn't have to play the pregnancy card, but I had it ready, along with the tears!

Take care all xx

impatientlywaiting · 25/09/2013 17:50

Lolly that happened to me about 7 years ago, without even pregnancy brain. I was gutted. At least you have pregnancy brain to blame.

MasterFlea · 25/09/2013 19:22

oh no Lolly that's terrible but like you said, no one was hurt.

ItalianWiking for me, the worry doesn't stop from the moment you see the stick with two lines until they are at least 9 months old. SIDS worries me sick when they are out. Then i was worrying about them getting out of my sight in the garden until someone told me to get a grip (in nicer words).

Not everybody gets morning sickness or all the symptoms. You sound like you've lots of symptoms already. I've no dizziness or sore boobs but the nausea and thrush are my constant companions at the moment.

Halfbaked · 25/09/2013 19:30

Evening all, I got my scan date through, 25th October, I'll be 12+5 by then!! It seems like an age away, quite excited though.

We might take DD along with us, just worried in case it's not good news. I must be more positive, it's more likely to be ok than not.

I have a lovely cold developing, normally I'd blast it with Max strength Lemsip, but I can't can I? I think I relied on those nasal sniffy things last pregnancy, they are crap though.

NannyPlumForPM · 25/09/2013 19:33

Can we not even LEMSIP?! Oh for goodness sake... I think whoever set out all this rules must've been a man. Or an old spinster woman that never wished for children and thinks that they are a waste of resources. Possibly called grizzelda.

Very grumpy this evening

I met my dh at the supermarket and the first thing he said to me was "you look crap" .... Shall ltb ???Wink

moominleigh94 · 25/09/2013 19:59

What is a doula? I know I won't have one, but just wondering what they actually are.

thistlelicker · 25/09/2013 19:59

Aren't they like somebody who can support your pregnancy but they aren't trained or qualified in pregnancy or labour

Tomkat79 · 25/09/2013 20:01

Hi guys...room for one more?

DS who's 6, 1 MC may :-( but now 7 + 5 :-)

Early scan booked for sat to calm my nerves hopefully.

Spirael · 25/09/2013 20:02

No, what you need to do thistle is burst into dramatic tears until he buys you the biggest chocolate cake in the store and a big bunch of flowers to make up for it. Wink

Lemsip is, as far as I'm aware, off limits. Sad I've been surviving on paracetamol and Vicks, which barely take the edge off. Saline nasal spray is considered safe, and I think some of the allergy sprays are ok as well - but check with a pharmacist.

Otrivine and the like are not tested for pregnancy, which doesn't necessarily make them unsafe. General consensus is that they're probably fine, as so little of the chemicals get into your system. But it is kind of a "Use at your own risk" choice.

Personally I'll be avoiding using a nasal spray for the first trimester but then might use one overnight for the later trimesters, especially if it's like last time and I get a cold every other week!! I might use the child one though, so the dose is weaker than usual.

I work in the centre of Leeds, Lolly. :) If it's convenient, maybe we could meet up for a drink next time you're in the area for a meeting? Very jealous of your takeaway! I was meant to be making a curry tonight, but I'm shattered so we just had pasta. Again.

Are you allowed to take your DD along to the 12 week scan, Halfbaked? Here there are no children allowed at the NHS scans. It's one of the reasons we're contemplating a private reassurance scan at 9 weeks then a gender scan at 24 weeks, so we can take DD along and manage her expectations.

mumof2aimingfor4 · 25/09/2013 20:02

We can use normal lemsip but not max lemsip its the extra ingredient phenylephrine(I think).

moominleigh94 · 25/09/2013 20:02

what is in lemsip? If it's paracetamol I was told paracetamol is ok in small amounts...

moominleigh94 · 25/09/2013 20:04

I cooked pizza and chips for me and my housemates tonight Grin and then baked cakes... I'm not usually this domestic Shock best part is, OH washed up Grin

BroodyTroody · 25/09/2013 20:45
