*wear not were!!

Jolleigh · 18/09/2013 06:47

Seems like some people are ok leaving them in gawjus. I'd be concerned about the cleanliness of it though. RE not wanting to get rid - I'd had mine 8 years, been out for 6 months now. The hole is tighter but I can still just about get a bar through. Maybe you'd be the same?

Jolleigh · 18/09/2013 06:51

Ice - it was for me. Makes it feel different to the other - my pierced one can take some very rough treatment, the non pierced is really sensitive. Fecking hurts to do though. Glad it's not healed over because there's no chance I'd do it again. DP hates it, so I swapped the removal if it for the removal of his tongue piercing (which was fecking horrible looking and which he didn't seem to know how to keep clean Envy )

OwlinaTree · 18/09/2013 06:54

JK AFAIK with the washable nappies you use a nappy liner to catch the worst of the poo, then bung all the nappies together in the washing machine. No soaking or tumble drying I've been promised!

I've not actually used them tho. I only know a couple of people who have to be honest. I've bought some, wok give it a try, thought it would save me money in the longrun.

OwlinaTree · 18/09/2013 06:54

*will not wok

OwlinaTree · 18/09/2013 06:58

I had my bellybutton pierced, but took that out when I got pg.

Breast milk doesn't seem to come out of just one hole so I don't think piercing will effect anything.

JK10 · 18/09/2013 07:25

Thanks owl so the liners catch most of it and u put the rest of the nappy in your handbag to wash when u get home I guess. Well done for trying it, be interested to here how it goes. I too have my tummy button pierced but left it in with most of my pg's, I just bought a long bar, and piercing/tattoo shops sell special flexi ones that they cut to size, just to stop it closing up. I have no clue about nipples and tongues.

Rockchick1984 · 18/09/2013 07:29

JK you can get flushable nappy liners to catch the poo, store in a sealed smellproof bucket, definitely no soaking poo soup, lovely! then just wash when you've got enough of them. Some people wash with other laundry like towels but I prefer to just wash nappies together. Oh, and no fabric softener as it makes them less absorbent!!

Midwife appointment today - am stupidly worried in case she can't find the heartbeat Sad

Rockchick1984 · 18/09/2013 07:30

Oh and re nappies, if using reusables its advisable to carry nappy in a wet bag not just chucked into your handbag :)

BNmum · 18/09/2013 07:59

Morning all, Any poo update? Get yourself checked out jolls, I had minor spd towards the end of my last pregnancy and it was hell. I can't imagine what it must be like to have it all the way through.

I tried a few bambino mios reusables. They were ok but nothing special, I only used them in the house though. I struggled to get them under some clothing but it think they've come on quite a bit in the last few years. I've still got them so will use them in a similiar fashion and use biodegradable disposables when they're on offer.

FrankelInFoal · 18/09/2013 08:18

Good luck today Saggy, will be thinking if you.

Anyone else having itchy skin? The skin across my hips feels very itchy, but I've been moisturising like a good 'un and using bio oil on my bump.

Jolleigh · 18/09/2013 08:21

Operation Bowel Movement cannot yet be deemed a success BN...had a bowl of fruit and fibre this morning topped with chopped prunes and apricots, then chased down with syrup of figs and a glass of orange juice. Now in work and feeling uber heavy, but hopefully today will be the day...

lumpylumps · 18/09/2013 08:27

jolls I think your laxatives have worked on me!!! 3 times this morning, I've always been told I'm full of shit. Well not now!!!

I was exposed to slapped cheek before I realised I was pregnant. Both the boys had it. I was tested and immune. They can tell you if you've had it and also I it was recent or not. Hope you're ok.

rescoonetwothree · 18/09/2013 08:37

abi hope your tummy's feeling better they can be quite rough cant they haha!

jk and mummy thanks! will definitely be looking into it but I'm moving in a couple of weeks to a completely different area so am going to just hold on instead of messing around with different physios etc! i used to have to go a few times a week when i was younger as i did an ungodly amount of competitive sport, until i well and truly fucked myself over by ignoring their resting orders, whoops!

ice is the mmr a standard vaccine? i had it but loads of people around my age didnt seem to for some reason

frank the side of my boobs and sides of my tummy are the same, so so itchy!

good luck today rock and anyone else with appointments!

rescoonetwothree · 18/09/2013 08:39

also hoping lyra is ok Wink

anyone heard from blockette? anyone else we haven't heard from in a while?

HotCrossPun · 18/09/2013 08:50

Joll I've had both of mine pierced, they are out now though. Midwife said it shouldn't cause any problems. Sometimes the piercing can block your milk ducts, but most pierced chicks go on to breastfeed successfully Grin

And good luck with your evacuation procedure, we are all behind you. Well...you know what I mean Hmm

Lyra I can't be the only one wanting to hear all about your exploits last night. Get out of bed and give us all the juicy details!

I've got my 16wk midwife appointment today. Remember she tried to talk scare me out of a home birth last time? Well I'm armed with the facts now and I'm going to ask her to refer me to the home birth team.

Wish me luck!

Oh, and smooches to you all. I am in a very good mood today!

Beccadugs · 18/09/2013 09:07

grey - depending on how old you are, it may be that like me (28) it was very new so a) I don't think the MMR was available in some areas, and b) I think parents were offered the choice between the combined or not combined. I had the seperate ones, but by the time my brothers came along it was combined for all I think. If you are v young it might be because of the autism scare, but I think you would have to be about 13 for that to be the case!!

IceNoSlice · 18/09/2013 09:12

Good luck Hottie! Get her told.

Lyra - yes MMR is a standard vaccine offered to all babies at 12/13 months. There has been some controversy around it because about 10-15 years ago a study suggested links to autism and lots of people refused to give it to their children. I believe that study has been shown to be highly flawed and lots of other research since has shown no autism link. The measles outbreak in Wales earlier this year (or was it last year) was partly blamed on so few children of a certain age not having had the vaccine. The NHS set up special clinics to give people (not just babies) the vaccine as emergency measures to stop the spread. However there is still some debate about it, including several MN threads.

Personally I think we are blessed in this country to have vaccines and as a result, so few really serious childhood (and other) diseases compared to the olden days and developing countries. I'm very pro- vaccination. But that's my view and I don't usually get involved in any debates about it because I CBA. But you asked so you got my soapbox, sorry! Grin

IceNoSlice · 18/09/2013 09:13

Sorry that was to Grey, not Lyra

rescoonetwothree · 18/09/2013 09:22

becca/ice that's interesting, thanks! i'm 23 (i do look 13 though) so must not have been the autism theory as the reason for not having it! I'm behind vaccines 100%, dp loves a good theory about the government though. sigh.

Beccadugs · 18/09/2013 09:34

I am also behind vaccines, I imagine some of your mates probably had the seperate vaccines (which took much longer, and not offered any more due to costs!)

NoMaybeAboutIt · 18/09/2013 09:40

Morning all!

Good luck to those at the MW today! Exciting times! And go Hot. Put that foot down with a firm hand.

JK I'm Essex, innit Wink

Also very pro vaccine here.

x0gawjus0x · 18/09/2013 09:43

Gl with your mw hot was sposed to have mine today too :( nxt week now

Ordered a doppler today! Just had tomato pasta for breakfast

Jolleigh · 18/09/2013 10:38

Lumpy stole my poo! Angry

Grey - I thought I was the youngest here until now Grin

BadlyWrittenPoem · 18/09/2013 10:46

Nurse and Dr gave different time scales for results but I don't think either of them knew so I'm going to phone on Friday and then if they're not back then I'll just ask the MW when I see her on Tuesday.

Joll SPD tends to get gradually worse through pregnancy and the best way to reduce this is early intervention in the form of physio, a support belt and also you should be givien advice on what things make it worse so you can avoid them so it's best to mention it ASAP so that you get seen by physio as early as possible.

JK10, personally (although we don't have that many poos in nappies due to doing elimination communication) I used disposable liners when LO was doing more runny poos so it just got tipped in the toilet and then when they get bigger they tip out easily anyway. Then they just go in the nappy bucket and I just stick them in the normal wash because we don't produce enough to be doing a separate load and they're not that dirty anyway but I think most people save them up to do a full load. I line dry in summer and tumble dry when it gets too cold. Currently we're using disposables because I'm ill and DH struggles to keep up with the washing but TBH with all the bin emptying and nappy buying you have to do with disposables I don't think the actual workload is significantly different and personally I find using washables more convenient most of the time.

My brothers and I all had the single measles vaccine as that was the standard then (we're aged 28-33) but they were offered MMR in a catch up programme which my mum declined as they'd all had the mumps so would only have been for the rubella.
