Ah, I don't like toffee - that explains it.

sunshinemeg · 17/09/2013 21:34

Greymoose, if you are looking in those areas you must be very close to me. I'm using the baby show as an excuse for a few days away.

Thanks for all the tips everyone, have been drinking as much as I can so fingers crossed things start to look up.

Btw pram it's good to see you more active again. Grin

rescoonetwothree · 17/09/2013 21:39

poem Shock

ooh sunshine where are you based if you don't mind outing yourself of course? unless you can use a secret code i may be able to deduce it from!

you should join the fb, we were meant to be having a meet but we haven't got round to organising it yet, we should probably do that haha!

Jolleigh · 17/09/2013 21:43

Think I need to have a word with my midwife and see if the pain in the small of my back could be that pelvis thingy. What's the name of it again? Just went to get up quickly from lying down and the small of my back let out an audible crunch. I seem to have a lot of lower back issues whenever I'm lying down Sad

NoMaybeAboutIt · 17/09/2013 22:08

I did indeed mean baby show Prambo Wink

We were going to London, but the in laws are descending that day, so we are going to the bluewater one. I'm excited loser

Hope you're ok Apprentice

BWP when will you get results?

IceNoSlice · 17/09/2013 22:16

Joll, do you mean SPD?

Symphysis pubis dysfunction, also known as pelvic girdle pain? linky

My friend had it, it can be v nasty Sad - I hope you haven't, could be something poo related I guess?!?

OwlinaTree · 17/09/2013 22:17

badlywritten I hear you. Deffo with you on the worrying more!

OwlinaTree · 17/09/2013 22:18

Crunchy poos? I hope not joll!

Jolleigh · 17/09/2013 22:24

haha, not poo related! I've had this a few weeks.

Think it is SPD I'm talking about...I'll have a look and see if it's consistent.

A bit premature but here's a list of essentials for hospital bag I nicked from another thread:

Flip flops / slippers
Warm socks
Something to give birth in (or use hospital gown)
Pyjamas or nightie for afterwards that allows bf
Something to go home in (comfy mat stuff like yoga pants, tshirt and hoodie is good)
Massive black knickers
Maternity pads
Nursing bra
Breast pads
Lansinoh cream
Water bottle
Dressing gown
Usual toiletries (miniatures are v good as you can pack a bag and just leave it in there)
Baby wipes (good for general wiping up of you and environment!)
Hair bobbles
Glasses
Phone
Charger
Purse
A couple of carrier bags for dirty clothes
Anti bacterial gel
Anti bac wipes (depends how grotty you think the hospital is - mine was fine but is very new and sparkling)
Camera

For the baby:
3 short sleeved vests
3 sleepsuits
Muslins
Nappies (about 10)
Newborn hat
Scratch mits
Cellular blanket
Cotton wool

They always say an outfit for the baby to go home in but I'd just leave them in a vest, sleepsuit and hat and put a cardie type thing on them.

I'd say they are the essentials. Might also want iPod, book or magazines, ear plugs, snacks and extra pillows. Some people turn up with mahoosive suitcases, I travel quite light so had a rucksack. Can be better to pack one bag for you and your change bag for the baby.

Anyway, the above should do you day of birth and overnight and then you'd hopefully be going home. Nothing extra for a section, just make sure you have the massive knickers.

Oh and a car seat if driving home.

Jolleigh · 17/09/2013 22:32

Symptoms fit SPD although they're not as severe or extensive as I'd imagine some people get. Midwife will be the judge in a few weeks I suppose.

rescoonetwothree · 17/09/2013 22:39

jol i think i have that as i am struggling to walk/move a lot, go to the docs they might be able to refer you for physio!

just watching midwives now, without spoilers does anyone else really get a bad vibe off that midwife who's usually on consultant led, i really didnt like her for some reason Confused

Jolleigh · 17/09/2013 22:46

Can barely move my bottom half when I'm in bed grey...it just hurts too much. Does quite literally feel like the two halves of my arse lower back are separating Confused

rescoonetwothree · 17/09/2013 22:55

That's exactly what I felt like joll - definitely get yourself to the docs so they can see if you need to be referred to a physio!

AbiBub · 17/09/2013 23:03

Hey ladies!

Scan yesterday went well, although the lady doing it was pushing really hard down and tapping and banging the ultrasound against my tummy really badly to 'try and wake baby up!' My tummy still feels tender today and im still suffering with ms. I feel lousy. Bubs seems ok, all healthy two arms, to legs etc but she wouldn't give me the ratio results? ! Just said everything looks to be how it should and you'll hear from midwife soon?! Thanks a effing bunch you Stooooopid scanee lady!!! Sorry rant over! happyhoppy thanx for tge ask :0) glad your scan went well!

Hope everyone is ok! :0)

AbiBub · 17/09/2013 23:04

saggy hope all goes ok for Thursday, this s a trying time for you for sure, so sending positive vibes and plenty of hugz your way. x

Happyhoppy · 17/09/2013 23:29

abibub great news! My sonographer pushed quite hard too - but it was uncomfortable rather than leaving me sore.

I'm aware this next question will make those of you suffering from ms hate me, but ... I've been lucky enough up until today to not vomit (no appetite though), but this morning's breakfast came straight back up. Huh? Ms doesn't start at 12 weeks? Confused

NoMaybeAboutIt · 17/09/2013 23:54

Happy hopefully just one of those things!

Great news Abi. Do you have your maternity notes? If you do, the measurement should be recorded in there. Strange they wouldn't give you the measurement!

Sorry to hear about the SPD. I was worried I had a bit the other day, felt like someone was tearing my bikini like apart! Has stopped now though!

JK10 · 17/09/2013 23:59

pram thanks for clearing up the whole banana, milkshake doughnut thing, I'm shopping on sun so may go visit greg and ask him for one and a pie. Thanks Joll I'll try your pie sani tips and see DP thinks thus time.

joll app heaps of brown sugar dissolved in hot water is meAnt to be good for constipation but I can imagine it must taste not so good or I've heard squirting water up there with a pipette does the same as a suppository, however I'm not sure if that sounds very comfortable.

Thank I for all your posts regarding dd and nursery, kinda makes me feel a little better. Still dreading it but not feeling quite so guilty now!!

saggy good luck tomorrow, my mum had an amnio when of with my bro, she had that Nicholas guy do it in London and was fine, I know that doesn't help u but trying to help u feel more positive. Let us know how u get on as we will be thinking of u.

apprentice don't u just love head spinning tantrums!! I sympathise.

These Eco nappies, so how do they actually work? So baby poohs on a flannel which u then have to scrape off, rinse out, boil wash and tumble dry to be made soft again for baby's bum? I don't really get it? Surely the extra washing and drying is bad for the economy and the extra man hrs and the extra work, time and effort. I'm sure someone will come back with all the stats and facts!!! But seriously how does it work? I honestly have no clue, I'm thinking terry towelling and safety pins and boiling them in the stove.

nomaybe I'm thinking u may be quite local, as a bluewater/London shopper? Bluewater is the place for my peanut butter and banana milkshakes!

Hope I haven't missed replying to anyone, so hard to remember when on the phone.

Oh and burnt toast clears up sickness/dirrehea bugs.

pram dead organised there with your list

JK10 · 18/09/2013 00:01

grey and jolls spd is horrid, had it with dc3 but recommend seeing a chiropractor, the nhs physio group sessions were pointless, but the chiropractor was amazing.

Teddybear4 · 18/09/2013 05:54

Good list Pram. I'd go for slippers and flip flops - you'll want the latter for the shower. Tens machine?

DH has just gone to work. I am now awake and it's not yet 6am. Long day ahead (oh, the childminder just cancelled too, great!).

MummyPig24 · 18/09/2013 06:12

Joll and grey you ought to mention it to your midwife as soon as possible, then you can get physio to help. I had spd last time and nothing was done about it. Every time I turned over in bed my pelvis cracked. It bloody hurt! I'm so worried I'm going to get it worse this time and it won't go away overnight when I give birth like last time.

I had some weird dreams last night. I also haven't heard from my midwife yet about my 16 week appointment that she is supposed to be phoning me about. I might chase that up.

x0gawjus0x · 18/09/2013 06:32

joll and bec I have my nipples peirced to and seriously didnt even think bout it with bf! Should i take them out now or will it be ok to take them out before feed etc? I dont rly want to tske them out but will if i have to mine are healed had them 3 years will it infect them or something ;s

IceNoSlice · 18/09/2013 06:43

Yay, today is my day off work at home with DS.

Pram - dont read Wink. We're off to the toddler group in the village this morning (fab as there are LOADS of toys, DS loves it and it's now run by some of the lovely ladies I met on mat leave so I get to keep in touch with them too). Then his MMR this afternoon Hmm

And no commuting or suit wearing, yay Smile

Impressed at the number of nipples pierced! Never crossed my mind to do that. Is if a sexual thing?

JK10 · 18/09/2013 06:44

mummy u may be lucky and not get it, i had jt with dc3 but not dc4! Like u I was dreading it, I remember one morn I woke up and literally couldn't move, went for regular chiropractor app which was amazing cant recommend enough. However I got Carpel tunnel with dc4 instead which was a piece of cake in comparison! The only thing is it didn't go away after birth and I still have it now, not so good for pushing buggys but I just were a wrist splint and have to try keep my hands inline with my arms when pushing if that makes sense!! Fingers crossed u may be lucky
