mon I would have thought a planned section would make it easier to plan time off so sounds like your dps work are being awkward just because. It's not like you don't know the date your baby is coming and therefore last minute rearrangements to get him covered...

Dh has been in his current Job almost 2 years and to say he works for a massive security firm (prison sector) his pay us ludicrous. He can take 3 days full pay or two weeks at spp. That's £137 a week... Means he loses around 700 by taking two weeks off. Definitely think our pay options are better...

Fortunately he's a saver so is taking two weeks off plus he's already booked first week in nov off before we knew about pg. if the holiday overlaps his paternity leave (I'm due 13th) they will move it for him... Maybe it's not all bad.

Very annoying nat that they are trying to blame you but glad you got it sorted!

I'm saying one of each for legallys twins :-)

Umlauf · 10/09/2013 16:45

Hi, I've finally caught up properly, I've been lurking but the thread is running away and I'm too lazy to sit up in bed and actually type most of the time!

mon and serious I am in the same boat regarding paternity leave. Actually DH is entitled to 3 days immediately after the birth and 2 further weeks any time up to 12 months after, but because he only gets 4 weeks' holiday a year and we are so far from family we made the decision for him to take those 2 weeks at Christmas instead so we can go home to England for a longish (3 week) holiday and still have 3 weeks left to go on a summer holiday and take some time at Easter. I am really nervous about being home alone on day 4 with just the baby, but DH is going to come home during his lunch hour for at least the first couple of weeks and then my parents will be here for 2 weeks.

flyer would you be interested in a post-baby egg each other on exercise/healthy eating routine?! I'm very miserable about my weight gains especially as its managed to be mostly on my bum and thighs and hips and so I know it's not going anywhere in the hospital! Im just so sick of wearing Bloody leggings and want to wear my normal jeans again! I'm hoping to walk a good hour or so a day, but I do live in a city of torrential rain so not sure how best to go about that! In terms of diet I'm hoping to breastfeeding so I have to be careful but just going to home cook everything very healthily and try and avoid sugar for the first few weeks.

natalie that sucks about mothercare but the pebble is a lovely car seat! I've been very wary of leaving anything until the last few weeks so you definitely did the right thing sorting it earlier.

37+1 today, no signs whatsoever of anything, I just know I will go to 42 weeks and have him forced out, making it too late to apply for his passport in time and therefore having to cancel Christmas! Grr.

notsoold · 10/09/2013 16:51

Babies are coming!!!!
Legally thinking of you and refreshing the page every few minutes!!!
SC at almost 34 weeks and going for a scan on Thursday...

roofio87 · 10/09/2013 16:53

yes I'm feeling very forthnate that dp gets 2 weeks at full pay paternity leave and can take it whenever he wants, all at once or space it out odd days here and there.

AnythingNotEverything · 10/09/2013 16:53

Favllio - I'm not sure how much extra I have but my notes say I had 25cm at 30 weeks. It was only picked up then because I was measuring big. I see my MW next week at 36+2 and I think she'll send me for another scan then.

She's very clear that its not a concern (although I don't think they'd let me have a home birth) but she's a bit blasé. Had a GTT and TORCH screening and no reason why I have so much fluid. Hope it reduces as I've got 5 more week's growth yet!

Glad to hear yours has reduced. Maternity bed mats are 3 for 2 at Boots at the mo though Wink

AnythingNotEverything · 10/09/2013 16:55

Oh, and also, if anyone hasn't bought their car seat yet, quidco offer 5% cash back at mothercare and you can deliver to store and get them to fit them for you for free.

I love quidco.

Flyer747 · 10/09/2013 16:56

Def Umlauf. I feel like a big fat thing and having someone spurring me on would be totes amaze balls.

I'm going to do the GI diet post birth. It's just healthy eating and has always worked for me in the past.

B'fast: Porridge (small bowl)
Lunch: salad with fish or chicken
Dinner: fish or chicken with steamed veg and small amount of brown rice or a sweet potato.

Low carbs and low sugar is always the trick for me plus lots of water to flush all that cellulite out of my arse cheeks and thighs Grin

Really really want to be in a size 10 by Christmas, what's your target?

Natalieand · 10/09/2013 17:00

I've always been big anyway so I won't be Shrinking back to size 10's any time soon but I have only gained 1 stone so far as 35+2 so I'm hoping I don't have actually put on much weight by the time the baby water and placenta are out and just take it from there

Come on legally its lucky my phone is touch screen or I would have worn the refresh button out by now lol

xuntitledx · 10/09/2013 17:08

Just returned from midwife, baby is head down and in the perfect position and engaged - I'm hoping he comes in the next week or two (wishful thinking!) as I'd really like a September baby!

doobeedee · 10/09/2013 17:09

Well 37+1 and 3 days left at work. Hopefully then I'll have more time to contribute on here!

Sorry for all the crappy Xmases last year. I also had a shitty year. 3 early miscarriages, the last one started on Xmas Eve. Happily, I then conceived this one the next month. Once I'm on maternity leave I'm going to make a real effort to remember what everyone has said and start name checking! Can someone let me know how to join the Facebook group?

BowlFullofJelly · 10/09/2013 17:18

On the dieting post birth, those planning on breast feeding you will be starving for at least the first few months - and also remember you need a lot of calories to produce the milk. I think it uses about 1000 calories a day, though not quite sure.

Can't believe legally is probably cuddling her babies and recovering from major surgery rather than updating us, just outrageous!

diege · 10/09/2013 17:20

Hi everyone! I really can't keep up, but lovely to read through the new thread and see where everyone's up to.
Re: exercise and the separated muscles thing, I was referred to the physio for this at 6 weeks post-birth and was given exercises to do (pelvic tilts, sit-ups etc) I think the concern is that, done incorrectly, sit ups and other forms of exercise can make the separation worse, but that when done properly they work wonders. I am having to return to work super early this time (February) which is certainly inspiring me to get back on with Slimming World asap! 34 weeks today Smile

notsoold · 10/09/2013 17:22

Another for a difficult Xmas as after a mc in the summer we had a cp in November.... But baby Joseph is coming!!!

DH will have 3 days at full pay and we couldn't afford to have his salary at spl for 2 weeks so back to work he goes!!!

And i don't know if I shared but again I will go alone to have baby. Anybody else doing the same???

Umlauf · 10/09/2013 17:29

Excellent flyer you're my workout buddy! I think we've got similar targets and weight gain as well? I was a 10/12 (big bum!) and about 9'10 and am now something awful and think I'm looking at 13 stone for the 40 week weight (hard to tell as they do everything in kilograms and my brain can't handle the maths!) Target... Maybe size 12 by Xmas size 10 by my birthday (February?!)

I'm a little nervous as I've suffered from bulimia since aged 15 and don't have a healthy attitude to diet, if its not working quick enough I tend to starve myself for a bit or purge. However I'm determined to be really healthy and sensible for the sake of my baby, so might need to your shoulder to cry on at times!!

nat you're totally welcome to join us but I think you'll be losing it all in the delivery suite you lucky thing!! Doesn't baby + placenta = about a stone?

Also refreshing for legally come on twins!!

Has anybody thought about a christening or naming ceremony yet? I've been chatting to my vicar today (although I don't go to church in Spain at all and am by no means a full on Christian) about maybe doing a thanksgiving service as DH is atheist and a full christening doesn't seem right somehow, but then I feel a little bit like I'd be letting my baby down a bit by not giving him the full shebang that I had. (I totally appreciate that will sound insane to any non-religious people!)

MotherOfNations · 10/09/2013 17:31

Sorry or everyone who's in same boat as me. Wether they give him the leave or not he's taking it. There's no way in the world he'd miss the birth of his first and only baby.

MotherOfNations · 10/09/2013 17:36

I'm aiming to be back in a size 10 by Christmas too, but as I'm not allowed to do too much in the way of exercise for 12 wks I don't know if I'll manage it. I've always lost dramatic amounts of weight shortly after birth before so I'm hoping this time is no different.

Natalieand · 10/09/2013 17:36

It's funny umlauf I'm a very big girl and usually gain weight very easily yet I have made no conscious effort not to gain a rediculous amount of weight this pregnancy it just kind of hasnt happened lol. Shouldn't complain though.

Christenings- dh and I and both our families are not religious in any way at all so have no intention of christening we didn't christen dd either

Paternity leave- dh is self employed so he too won't be earning but is going to take a week off and then in the second week possibly work part time were gunna see how I feel at the time I think.

:-0 just noticed we haven't heard from falcon since this morn , she had a consultant appt at 2.20 maybe they kept her in or gave her a sweep and its helped things along? Eeeeeek

roofio87 · 10/09/2013 17:42

natalie im the same, made no effort to not gain weight, just haven't really. only gained about a stone so far too. Don't really feel like I've put weight on anywhere else so will just have to see what my tummy is like after!! also sorry about your travel system mix up and what a pain you have to pay extra!!
I'm the same with christening. I believe in God etc but don't go to church now and dp doesn't believe so don't want to have him christened. don't think pil are too impressed!! I want to bring him up to know what I believe and read him Bible stories etc but I'll also teach him that daddy doesn't believe it and other people believe and follow all different religions!! (sorry, bit of a random tangent but had been thinking about this this week!!)

ananikifo · 10/09/2013 17:47

No babies yet?Sad

Sorry for everyone whose partner has a rubbish leave allowance. DH is new at his job so technically not entitled but his work have said they'll work something out for him. This reminds me that I should actually confirm that they are paying him for the time he gets off. Unfortunately they have also decided he needs to go to France for four days in the first week of October when I'll be 37 weeks Angry

Natalieand · 10/09/2013 17:50

I just no as soon as I go to bath and bed dd or eat dinner I'm gunna miss a birth announcement lik

ananikifo · 10/09/2013 18:00

As for christenings: religion means a lot to us and we want the baptism as soon as possible but I think 2-3 months is the earliest that's realistic. It's a shame bc my family would miss it, but they're not religious at all. I'd want to avoid the huge party with 50 people and a wedding-style cake that some people seem to have these days. Party planning fills me with dread, not to mention the expense.

I have always been overweight and gained weight easily so it's been a complete surprise that I haven't gained any. The best weight loss advice I have these days is to get pregnant!Grin

Shootingstarsandcomets · 10/09/2013 18:02

Checking in.....still in France but couldn't resist seeing if there were any babies yet?! Has abortive had one in the last few days? How is legally and the twins?
I'd ike to be a size 10 by Christmas too so am up for weightloss buddies. Last time I ate cake and breast fed and it dropped off in 6 weeks without me doing anything! Not sure ill be so lucky this time but I think the breastfeeding helped a lot.
Antibes is lovely and ds is being a super star. Just putting him to bed now whilst DH has popped out to a local restaurant to pick up rotisserie chicken and chips to eat on the roof terrace mmmmmm........
Good luck to anyone about to give birth!!!!

Wickedgirl · 10/09/2013 18:03

I will be having this baby christened but will wait until it's 4-6 months old. I'm not a regular church goer any more but I do want my children being brought up within the Christian faith.

I too am hoping to be back to a size 10 by Christmas. Once this baby is born, I'm hoping the SPD will clear up and I can get back to nice long walks again. I so can't wait to be able to move properly again.....it's really starting to get me down now. I feel that I never leave the house and an going stir crazy. I can't do too much around the house either as I just get really sore and them I'm good for nothing at all.

Shootingstarsandcomets · 10/09/2013 18:03

Abortive???!!!!! Stupid auto correct, I mean anyone!
