oh MoN do I dare ask about cod and worms...??

warlin sounds delicious and easy. I may steal this recipe if he doesn't mind? We also love our food spicy!

We are really lucky to have a lovely Vietnamese here and so cheap too. Their pho is 6.50. Our entire lunch bill came to 14.50! By the way, there was a programme on BBC (last Saturday or Sunday morning I think) with Rick Stein in Vietnam learning to cook pho! I may try to find it on iPlayer later. It seemed surprisingly easy but I often find that Asian dishes are misleading - looks so easy but it's so difficult to get them right...

claphammama · 14/09/2013 21:01

tarlia I think Bombay Bicycle does only take aways these days. And do you remember they had a proper restaurant on Nightingale Lane? Closed about 2 years ago and had some random Italian places there instead.

And that independent book shop on Northcote closed about 3 weeks ago. I get depressed evert time I pass it now... :-(

Tarlia · 14/09/2013 21:09

Clapham I didn't actually realise they had a restaurant, but they do fine deliveries. Shame about the book shop :( The one along Wandsworth common is/was(?) lovely.

notso sounds like you'll be we'll fed post birth too! I was very impressed tonight as he'd made very good short pastry, where he often cheats and buys it, which isn't the same.

chickieno1 · 14/09/2013 21:09

nelly and falcon hope things progress for you ladies! Try and eat well and drink plenty of fluids. I won't tell you to sleep as it drives me crazy when people say that to me!

tarlia, pseudo and terrified hope your BP s are behaving and no progression of symptoms.

legally well done on feeding your babies yourself! You're doing a fantastic job and post CS as well. Hope you get a little cuddle time with dd too.

Re CS questions heff I was totally out of it after emcs so I think I had a lot of help from dh and midwives. I felt fine next am and first thing asked for my catheter to be removed. Had a shower and felt almost normal. Was even able to push little cot to examining room at the end of corridor for ds neonatal checks. I'm hoping for similar or better this time around.

clapham yay for mat leave!! You deserved the lovely presents and lunch for putting up with them this last while. Also good that they acknowledged your hard work! A real boost even if you decide not to go back!

I also feel a bit like wtf am I doing even though its dc2. I probably feel hat more this time and am a bit worried that haven't been really excited or emotionally involved this pregnancy :(. I can't wait to meet baby and want everything to turn out well but just a bit meh about pregnancy. It's probably to do with move and change in circumstances etc. find it hard to talk to dh or siblings or even friends at the minute. Feel like just want to be left alone until have baby and then can get on with new stage.

I'm cooking tonight, no inspiration though...........

Countdown to in laws leaving. They've been very sweet but wan my house back so can start nesting properly. We have to put cot up and drawers for baby clothes.

Sorry I know I've forgotten loads Flowers

Glad you got some rest today orange

And food in tommies is not great! M and S downstairs so get OH to get fruit, snacks etc. Also lifts there are terrible (slow and always full) so try and send others to get stuff for you :) (I know you're in already terrified, but know clapham due to go there too. Not sure who else though)

chickieno1 · 14/09/2013 21:13

Never tried Mien Tay although my sister loves it. Toronto not bad for Vietnamese food must try it.

Sad about te bookshop closing

PseudoBadger · 14/09/2013 21:18

We are having m&s dine in for £10 - pork medallions. DP has done the mash (my carpal tunnel!) and I've done the rest

PseudoBadger · 14/09/2013 21:23

Oh, and I can't sit close enough to the table to eat properly :o

ananikifo · 14/09/2013 21:23

Falcon and nelly I hope these babies come soon!

Congrats to clapham for finishing work on a high note. I have the same due date and am very jealous of your extra two weeks of leave. I hope you enjoy them.

Congrats mon in getting your dryer and good luck with the dishwasher. We don't have space for another appliance but wanted a dryer so we bought a heated airer from Lakeland. It folds when it's not being used but it dries clothes much faster than a normal indoor airer and uses very little electricity, too. We are very happy with it.

terrifiednewbie · 14/09/2013 21:24

Think I was a little harsh about dh earlier, who has actually been wonderful throughout this pr3gnancy and great today (once he got here)! Ive been on crutches for 2 months and so he really has been a brick.

Cant trawl back through the threads on phone, but love all the dh/dp love you are all receiving.

Clapham-i know the vietnamese restaurant you mean (its not too far from me) BUT has the Bolingbroke Bookshop really closed down? Poor michael. Food dire, staff are great on the whole so far if that helps.

Tarlia-glad you're making the most of your weekend.

Flyer-think you will have mixed feelings about being back in the skies later?

SeriousStuff · 14/09/2013 21:40

TMI!

Sorry to bypass all the recent messages but I wanted to ask a quick question. Since the last 2 days, I have felt increasingly bruised (inside and out) 'down below'. It's towards the front around and either side of the urethra and clitoris area. No pain when peeing though and it's not like cystitis, it's more a pain inside/on the skin.

There's a constant pain there and it's even worse when I try to get up from sitting or if separating my legs in any way.

Has anyone else experienced this? The only thing I can liken it to is if you ride a horse for the first time in a very long time...

pinkbuttons · 14/09/2013 21:42

Just checking in, very impressed by some your dinners they sound amazing. DH also cooked here but just lasagne, although was very grateful for an evening off.

Also wanted to say Im so sorry terrified I somehow completely missed that you had been admitted! Havent been keeping up as well as Id thought obviously. Really sorry to hear things have taken a turn for the worse and hope your not in too much longer and get some decent food at some point xx

claphammama · 14/09/2013 21:44

firstly, thanks for your lovely words chickie, ana and everyone else today xx

ana hope these two remaining weeks don't drag too much! I know easier said than done

And yes terrified, the Bolingbroke bookshop is no more :-( they had a closing down sale for a long time and a very dramatic note in the window, blaming Amazon, saying that their rent has trebled over the last several years etc. Very sad Sad, they are opening a boring looking "family holidays travel agency" instead. Do you also live in Clapham? I had no idea! And glad you are feeling better about DH

chickie how many days until in laws get evicted? Can't be long now? and 3 weeks is a loooong time to have people around, no matter how lovely they are

tarlia yes! The Bellevue Road bookshop is still there Grin and with a lovely selection of children books

OrangeBlossom2 · 14/09/2013 21:45

Yum yum Clapham!
My pizza was very good too.
I can't sit too close to the table either, it touches my tummy and the baby likes to lean against it.
Hope everyone has a good night.

claphammama · 14/09/2013 21:48

serious I had it for a few days, on and off - was told it could be due to pressure on some nerves down below. It felt a bit like strained sciatic nerve pain I experienced in the past. The only way I can explain it is like my skin there felt very raw, like I had all nerves outside. Does it sound familiar?

MrsHoratioNelson · 14/09/2013 21:55

clapham vietnamese food isn't difficult to cook, but some of the ingredients can be a little tricky to find in my neck of the woods. I can't imagine you'd have trouble in Londinium though.

As a starter for ten, try the Vietnamese turkey recipe in Nigella Lawson's Feast (we use chicken, the recipe is surprisingly authentic) and try making some summer rolls, they are delicious. I think The Guardian did a "how to" the other month or I can PM you a recipe if you like.

SeriousStuff · 14/09/2013 22:02

clapham it does feel raw when I touch it, especially when I wipe. To begin with, I thought I'd just been wiping too often/too vigorously, but I just started getting worried when I started getting pains when I try and manoeuvre e.g. trying to get in and out of the car

MotherOfNations · 14/09/2013 22:11

I want some Vietnamese food now. Dp works weekends at a hostel for young asylum seekers and there are a few Vietnamese guys there who are always inviting him into their rooms for food. I so want a job there.

ananikifo · 14/09/2013 22:12

Serious that sounds like what I have now. When I shift weight from one leg to another it gets more painful. I feel like the pain is in the soft tissue not the actual pelvic bone.

I went to a useless GP who told me to go to the midwife if I wanted my genitals examined and then when I thought I had reduced movements I asked about it at maternity assessment unit and the registrar had a look. Basically he said it was normal pregnancy irritation but took a swab for routine infections. The swab was clear and my urine sample was sent away and I don't have a uti either.

The moral of the story is if you're sore you can get it checked out and if it's an infection they'll treat it, but more likely it's something "normal." My self-diagnosis is vulval varicose veins but the registrar didn't say he saw a vein when he looked.

I am thinking I may start freezing maxi pads soon, and that's all I can think of to help.

MotherOfNations · 14/09/2013 22:16

I've been feeling a bit swollen and bruised too serious. Probably not helped by how "nice" I was being to Dp in order to get my tumble dryer Blush. Increased blood flow may be to blame.

PseudoBadger · 14/09/2013 22:17

Clapham I'm glad you're finished now, and that they were so nice to you :)

OP posts:
SeriousStuff · 14/09/2013 22:22

Thanks anan - urine sample was fine last week and I used a Canesten pessary the previous week because I had some thrush. So infection iwse I should be ok.

I'll see how it's feeling by Monday and then either call my GP or my MW.

ananikifo · 14/09/2013 22:26

Let me know if your doctor is more useful than mine, serious, and I hope you and mon do feel better.

ananikifo · 14/09/2013 22:27

Oh and clapham

I can't talk about my pain down below irl but at least on here I know I'm not that weird.

roofio87 · 14/09/2013 22:36

ouch, I'm guessing that baby's head has engaged more as im getting some very painful movements very low down and a constant pressure feeling. period pains have stopped again now so hopefully lo will stop moving so much soon and I can get some sleep!!

xuntitledx · 14/09/2013 22:39

I had a big curry tonight...needed it after today's activities Wink
