Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Feeling better Natalie thank you just tired and floppy now. An afternoon sleep was good. I think I will be ok to go to the second part of the first aid course tonight then have a complete slob around the house and do nothing day tomorrow. Are you feeling better MoN? You mentioned that you felt sick and dizzy today too. You don't have that indulgent option with children to look after already.

I have a note on top of my hospital bag saying phone, camera, charger, coming home outfit so we don't forget.

OrangeBlossom2 · 13/09/2013 17:39

Maybe you could just take your tights off after a while after any photo ops and making good first impression time is over!

Natalieand · 13/09/2013 17:40

Is it just me or does every imagen how they will go into labour? With dd I just had this 'feeling' I would go into labour at night and I did at 1am and this time I have a 'feeling' I will go into labour when dh is at work and dd is at playschool and ill be on my own :-0.... Am I just having an over active imagination or does anyone else think they no how its gunna happen?

LandsN · 13/09/2013 17:47

Hi can I jump in please better late than never! I am due 26 October but have a scan 26 September as they think baby might be big and they may induce me at 37 weeks I already have a ds 12 and dd 9 and had 3 mcs in trying for no 3 feeling very uncomfortable and got a feeling in my bones this one is going to come early not sure why as last 2 was 3 and 5 days late anyway hi to everyone who is as uncomfortable as me and just wants it to hurry up now lol :) x

doobeedee · 13/09/2013 17:50

I take Spatone too. If I run out or miss it for a few days I get a really sore tongue which is a sign of anaemia. Takes about a week of taking it again to get tongue back to normal. And definitely take iron with orange juice to help absorb it. I'm officially on maternity leave now. 37+4

MotherOfNations · 13/09/2013 17:55

I feel fine now Orange. The sick and dizzy feeling is a regular morning occurence lately. I think it's all the rushing around to get everyone off to school then standing in the playground for 20 mins waiting for bell to go because if I get the later bus we end up late for school. Glad you're feeling a bit better now too.

pinkbuttons · 13/09/2013 18:09

Glad your feeling better orange and MoN
and glad bloods ok today GT

Dont know if I just missed your post pseudo but how was monitoring this morning?

Welcome to the thread LandsN

Just reporting back from consultant appt. clearly I was worrying over nothing Grin and we are now signed off for the MLU with no SCBU for baby unless something changes. So as of tomorrow I will be 37 weeks and ready for baby to come Grin

Sending sympathy and extra energy to both nelly and falcon hope those babies stop teasing you soon and get a move on. x

Natalieand · 13/09/2013 18:25

Those who are planning to bottle feed (I no there isn't many of us) when will u be getting bottles and steraliser unboxed and washed etc?

Welcome landN x

cuillereasoupe · 13/09/2013 18:29

OK, I've checked online and it turns out I was thinking of tea reducing iron intake, not orange juice Blush

JellyCurls · 13/09/2013 18:29

Natalie, you could wash bottles now but don't sterilise till you going to use them. No point sterilising at 37 weeks when baby might not come till nearer 42. We never washed bottles till day we were using them

GTbaby · 13/09/2013 19:18

Welcome land

Nat I would wash and put in/store in steriliser. Then when you return from hospital all you have to do us add water and switch on.
I'm not planning on bottle feeding but do this when I go on holiday or to my mums so I don't have to faff about when coming home.

LandsN · 13/09/2013 19:20

I am going to bottle feed and had wondered the same thing as I don't remember with dcs also I was told that it is safe to put them in the dishwasher before I sterilise them does anyone else know if this is ok? I am a bit worried about chemicals etc! X

Pinkforboys · 13/09/2013 19:35

Evenin' ladies.
Last commute over for me (not that I do it that often anyway!) My 'handover' ended up with some extra tasks for me over the next 2 weeks, but nothing that will stop me from washing baby clothes and putting my feet up in front of the telly Grin

Welcome to the October bus LandsN

I'm prob too late for Hayle but my experience of mat tights on tues night was not good. I was convinced I must have put them on backwards cos they kept slipping under my bump and Madam kept kicking at them in protest. Turns out they were the right way round Hmm but at least my legs were warm...

I'm another one on Spatone (when I remember). Is everyone still taking the pregnancy vitamins religiously? I've just finished my last bottle of posh Fushi ones and debating whether to renew or downgrade. I'd love to give up but I'm planning on bf (you do need them still when bf, don't you?)
Seriously, my brain is turning into fluff.

JellyCurls · 13/09/2013 19:35

Welcome lands we used to dishwasher bottles but if you have dishes that are dirty with coloured foods eg chilli, bolognaise you end up with red bottles

Pinkforboys · 13/09/2013 19:38

Oh- and meant to add that a friend reminded me this morning that se had her DS at 35w (which I hit today). She's the one that had the itchiness. Rumour has it that it's a reaction to the male hormones that some Mums suffer from. It'll be interesting to test that theory with the itchy mums on this thread...!

monkeytree · 13/09/2013 19:55

welcome LandN

Natalie Yes I do think about the onset of labour. I think about it because of dd and the fact that my mum lives half an hour away. Other people have offered to look after dd but dd came along in the middle of the night and I don't really feel I can knock on their doors at 1.00am in the morning! I worry that we will end up having to take dd to hospital until my mum arrives to collect her. DD2 is due on the last day of term so in an ideal world she would arrive on this day whilst DD is off at school. However a lot of babies seem to arrive during the night and this is what I'm anticipating. I didn't notice of any run up symptoms last time just remember feeling a lot of pain so kind of thinking I'll know about it when it happens!

Getting tired now and feel like I'm slowing down at work (and also making silly mistakes). I'm trying not to be too hard on myself. I think most of this is due to the sleep deprivation I am experiencing. Planning to work up until 38 weeks but wondering if I'm going to make it that far but I have felt especially tired today.

I think I have high expectations of myself and find it hard to admit that I am struggling to function with everyday things 6 weeks seems a long time to carry on like this.

I am very grateful to all you ladies it has made a real difference to share your experiences and to have a listening ear. thank you.

Pannacotta2013 · 13/09/2013 19:56

Jelly if you are thinking of using evening primrose oil, check out starflower oil / borage oil (same product just different names) instead. It's the GLA (gamma linoleic acid) that acts like prostaglandins to soften the cervix, and starflower oil has much higher concentrations of GLA than evening primrose oil does, and it's cheaper. I used to take it pre preg to regulate hormones - it was amazing for PMT, and gives you nice skin too.

Tarlia · 13/09/2013 20:02

Our last weekend as a family of three sob snuffle I can't do much as on super strict bed rest but I've already asked DP to make fairy cakes with DS tomorrow. Then we can ice them with butter icing (for added squidgy fun) in piping bags and diff couloirs with sprinkles etc. Sunday hopefully some painting together. All sitting down and nothing terribly exciting, but just about manageable for me.

Can anyone else feel things (pelvis) shifting when coughing? Noticed this today, the feeling on e stopped coughing is so weird!

P-buttons so glad you can go to the MLU and def cross your legs for the next four hours and you'll be fine. I was wondering about badger too. I've not noticed an update...?

nelly and falcon you poor things :( I don't see why they won't break your waters since at 3cm they def can!

jelly any way you can get your Dr on board for eay induction/sweep due to family needs?

hayley have fun. I'm sure the tights will be fine. I didn't bother with maternity leggings, just had them under bump, which has been fine.

everyone else Cake Brew

Tarlia · 13/09/2013 20:06

Natalieand · 13/09/2013 20:12

Warlin · 13/09/2013 20:13

Sorry to all those with man troubles..men really don't have a clue. I must admit dh is more clued in this time round though it wasnt until about 35 weeks that I heard him tell people "it's beginning to sink in for us that we're pregnant"..... Er no that happened about 25 weeks ago for me :) I guess it's because they aren't living the pregnancy that they struggle to focus and it is a bit overwhelming for them the first time round. Dh was a brilliant birthing partner last time I must say so I hope our dps/dh's do you proud on the day. Bloody hormones make us all feel unloved at times x

Natalieand · 13/09/2013 20:14

Oh Jeeese my apologies that last message makes no sense at all. (Must be the magnum in my hand distracting me)

Attempt 2:

Tarlia · 13/09/2013 20:17

Saturday, all going according to plan!

ananikifo · 13/09/2013 20:24

pinkforboys I still take my pregnancy vitamins. You don't need posh ones but you should always make sure they have vitamin d. I went to another study evening last night about it and it only renewed my mission to get everyone on vitamin d. You should keep taking it while breast feeding but breastfed babies should really be getting drops as well.

I just finished at ikea with DH and feel like I'm going to drop dead. I haven't even been lifting things. umlauf I showed DH your picture of those spice racks and he's obsessed with them. We'll now be putting our wireless router and landline phone in one as the outlet for them is in a place thats too awkward for a table or shelf.

Wickedgirl · 13/09/2013 20:26

I went into labour during the night with my other 3 so am anticipating the same thing happening this time. My waters went in the hospital with 1 and 3, and in bed at home with baby 2. I hope they don't go this time until I'm at hospital. My fear is they'll go on the school run or when i run into waitrose for coffee and cake nutritious, healthy snacks. Blush
