Hugs ananikifo Glad you got it sorted. Maybe they're just trying to find things to distract them from reality. DIY might be his form of nesting? Weirdly, DH has started playing some football manager game on his phone this week (he's 31!) and i'm pretty sure if i asked him to research a new car he would be able to prepare a thesis on it.
Nelly I had no idea labour could go on that long! Are you able to sleep ok?
orange Has your bp been low during pregnancy? Maybe it's dropped a little causing the dizziness etc.
Hugs to mrsh and umlauf too.
Hope your car seat turns up soon nat. I hate waiting about for couriers.

roofio87 · 13/09/2013 14:39

Gt ive been having period pains for a week now, mw said its just my uterus getting ready for birth, but could still be weeks!!
I'm having an hour on my gym ball now to encourage baby down!! balancing out the exercise by eating biscuits at the same time though!!

ananikifo · 13/09/2013 14:43

MrsO I definitely think it's a distraction. The baby stuff is a scary unfamiliar thing for him. He kept trying to tell me that baby is due 22 October as though he didn't understand it would be completely normal for baby to come 2 or even 3 weeks early.

I hope your DH gets it soon. Don't back down or apologise. I think these men are 100% wrong and need sense knocked into them! At our worst I insisted I would rather sleep on the couch than with him and I've never done that in our 9 year relationship. I think that was a turning point for him to realise that this is very, very important and he needs to support me.

Umlauf · 13/09/2013 14:44

Thanks for your kind words xx

Blimey nelly I may have been really naive but I had no idea labour could go on that long, poor poor you. I hope you're not too uncomfortable and that nelly junior gets a move on!!

GTbaby · 13/09/2013 14:50

Oh no roofio. I want this baby out.
And with fil heart opp in two weeks its just more convenient to have baby now. Grin I know I know babies don't come at a convenient time. But one can hope.

JellyCurls · 13/09/2013 15:00

Have been looking for ways to encourage baby to make an appearance and found a thread today in pregnancy about evening primrose oil capsules. Has anybody thought about this or tried in previous pregnancies?

I know inside me is safest place for baby just now but at 37+ weeks its getting very difficult to carry and help DD (6yrs but already 4'2") when she needs it. When I last spoke to mw she won't intervene till I 14 days over

Natalieand · 13/09/2013 15:08

jellyi spoke about the NICE guidelines with the midwife at last appt and she said unless a consultant says otherwise for first pregnancies its a sweep between weeks 40-41 then induction between weeks 41-42! And for a second pregnancy a sweep is to be offered at 41 weeks and induction between 41-42 weeks xx

Are u seeing a consultant for any reason? If so they r the ones u need to ask for early induction or sweeps mine ha agreed to a sweep at 38-39-40-41 weeks then induction no later than 41 weeks xx

JellyCurls · 13/09/2013 15:14

Thanks Natalie, was signed over from consultant to mw after 20 weeks scan was clear. Guess I will just need to turn on the waterworks at next appointment and in mean time try everything possible to get baby in motion. Am now off to do more research into evening primrose oil softening cervix

OrangeBlossom2 · 13/09/2013 15:59

No mrsO my blood pressure been normal at each check up but much lower than pre pregnancy so maybe. Feel a bit of a fraud with so many people really struggling but very glad to be in my bed.

Nelly that is slow labour! You and falcon both having frustrating weeks. Biscuit

Haylebop12 · 13/09/2013 16:09

At what point of my night out am I going to regret not buying
Maternity tights? I just couldn't justify £10 for one wear! The plan is to wear my normal ones...

MrsHoratioNelson · 13/09/2013 16:12

Hayle I have found hold ups to be the best - at this stage, even maternity tights felt too constructive and baby certainly seemed pleased when I took them off!

They weren't as worrying on the falling down factor as I feared and at least even supermarkets stock them. Can you get hold of some before your night out?

Haylebop12 · 13/09/2013 16:20

Doubtful... We're not out long, 30th party and taking dd so will be out about 3 hours. Think I'm just gonna have to shave and tan!

Natalieand · 13/09/2013 16:37

Hmmm I think id be the same as u Hayley... Or do u have anything to wear that covers your legs?

I'm nesting this afternoon. De cluttering sorting the baby's clothes into there rightful places etc. I keep looking at his stuff and thinking he might need more ... But then I can't go and buy anything I need to hold off till the baby shower and if necessary buy after ... What a dialemma lol

Haylebop12 · 13/09/2013 16:41

I have got an alternative outfit nat of skinny jeans and a tunic top but this dress makes my bump look good!

MrsO27 · 13/09/2013 16:45

orange was just catching up on emails and reading my 34 weeks one from babycenter and noticed this -
"Now's the time to slow down and save up your energy for labor day (and beyond). If you've been sitting or lying down for a long time, don't jump up too quickly. Blood can pool in your feet and legs, causing a temporary drop in your blood pressure when you get up that can make you feel dizzy."
Might explain things, however I would mention it to your mw too.
ananikifo I won't be letting him off lightly on this one. You're right, sometimes you need to make it very obvious for them to see sense!

GTbaby · 13/09/2013 16:58

Reminder. Put camcorder and or camera on charge and make sure your memory cards are empty Grin

Just put mine on charge. Sorting out memory cards tonight.

Natalieand · 13/09/2013 17:05

Funny u say that GT we will probly just take our phones but I can't pack my charger until I go into labour and the thought of it makes me panic... Everyone knows what an iPhones battery life is like lol

Natalieand · 13/09/2013 17:06

Sorry I must have skimmed past your reply hayle hmm definately a dialemma. I would go for what makes bump look best- especially if u r likely to be in pictures lol

OrangeBlossom2 · 13/09/2013 17:09

Thanks all, I will mention at appointment next week. DH wants me to start mat leave early and is convinced I am going to have the baby early, I think I will reassess at the end of each week and will stop work if any issues with blood pressure at next appointment. Presuming going home sick hasn't triggered mat leave already. Think it can but hopefully not (though I wouldn't be too upset).

Hayle can you wear the dress over jeans or leggings?

GTbaby · 13/09/2013 17:10

Prob I found nat is my phone is so full (also on to do list is back up all video and pics) that I can only take a few short videos.
Camera is a back up incase memory gets full battery dies.

cherrycherry41 · 13/09/2013 17:12

Orange might be worth getting the midwife to check your bloods as what youve experienced today is exactly what happened to me 2 weeks ago, and i had my bloods tested and they came back that i had aneamia and needed iron tablets (funny everyone has been talking about iron today!)

SC @ 36+5, baby kicking so much last night he managed to kick some part of my digestive system which made me projectile vomit at 2am! Blush
17 days and counting until elcs! Grin

Natalieand · 13/09/2013 17:25

Eeek 17 days!! How exciting cherry not so exciting about the mid night vomiting tho xx

falcon I hope your quietness means that u are in established labour and well on your way to meeting your lovely little bundle

legally I hope u managed to get discharged yesterday evening or today and are enjoying lovely cuddles from the comfort of your own home

Valid point GT I may well dig my camera out as a back up plan

How r u feeling after a quiet afternoon orange? X

OrangeBlossom2 · 13/09/2013 17:27

Possibly cherry, iron was fine at last check but worth asking. I will have some dark chocolate just in case! Smile Sorry you were sick last night. I never knew about 3rd trimester sickness but it seems to happen a lot.

Haylebop12 · 13/09/2013 17:34

Hmmm orange leggings are a possibility. Tan is definitely off the cards as its now raining and I only have wash off tan. Gonna get ready early and see how I get on with normal tights!
