Hee, hee, x-posts with you again Natalie Smile

No, my DD is a fair bit older - she is going to be 7 in December. You'd be forgiven for getting the impression she was younger though as I probably baby her far too much!

I'm a far from perfect parent and have PFB and helicopter parent tendencies that I have to do my best to fight.

Pinkforboys · 12/09/2013 11:07

ps- Michael Rosen was quite civilised. I got to chat with him over lunch. He's great with the kids- suitably wide-eyed and crazy, but I wouldn't want to judge him personally. I gather he's on wife/family no.3 with kids from primary to post-uni age, very sadly lost a son to meningitis at 17. My Mum's a great fan for his championing of reading 'real' books. Something she's always been passionate about too. I hadn't realised how local he was so I'll keep an eye out for him now...

Diege- glad it arrived safe and sound! Wink

Hello all

SC 36+3 Smile midwife coming round later.

Huge Congrats Skullbabe Smile

Hope all went well legally - one of each is my guess x

Hope all goes well with the ECV Warlin - or that baby has turned already!

sorry to all of those whose dh's/p's have time off work issues. My dh is self employed too. Really don't know how much time he will have. Really depends on when LO decides to arrive...... though they are flexible, and as long as someone gets the older ones off to school for a couple of days, I'm sure we'll be fine Smile Biggest issue is that he and my eldest 2 boys are going to be away for the 3 days before the baby is due, at the national calf show. He said he won't go, but I have to think about the dc we already have too, and It's really special for Harry to be able to show his calves at the national breed show. He will be 3 hours away, so based on previous labours if it happens he might miss it, but think I'm ok with that. Would be worse if they didn't go, and then we all sat around waiting and nothing happened! (sod's law!)

Exercising after birth - last time I went out for a sedate plod round the block on the horse when dd2 was 3 weeks old - couldn't wait any longer!!!

3rd labours - mine was mega quick - 45 mins from first twinge to baby! Dh delivered him, as mw didn't arrive until 10 mins afterwards.

Slippy Well done you!!! xxSmile

Sorry about the OC Ruby

Moonblues and Pseudo, I am due the 7th, and my last baby came on her due date, so it might happen!! Grin

Falcon sorry things have been so up and down for you xx

favellio hope the GTT goes OK x

Mon good luck for your appointment x

diege and Pink Good Luck for your scans x

Jeez - think writing my french essay yesterday was easier than this Grin Sorry if I have missed anything/one xx

cazboldy · 12/09/2013 11:30

x posts Nat and Bridget

I would say that the most important thing (but sometimes the hardest!) is to make sure to spend a little time with the other children. Just read a book together/ do bathtime/ have a cuddle - whatever you would do now.

It gets harder as the baby's get older. as long as LO is changed and fed they have everything they need, whereas the older children need you more if anything x

Umlauf · 12/09/2013 11:46

Good morning pregsters! 37+3 and SC here.

ruby sorry to hear about the OC (had to google it as I was confused about why you were talking about a tv program from years ago!) and it sounds really frustrating, hopefully they can manage it well now you've been diagnosed?

Congratulations to slippy what was your degree in?! Kudos for studying through the horrible first trimester!

It's really nice hearing about your older children and how they are preparing for big brother/sisterhood! When my baby sister was born my dad bought me a doll (I didn't have one before) so I could have a baby too, and apparently in hospital I insisted on the midwives giving the doll all the same treatment they gave my baby sister. They indulged me too, even had her own cot and hospital wristband!! Midwives in the eighties were very nice!!

Midwives in Spain... Idk its very impersonal. In my doctors practise there seems to be a different one at each appointment and I assume completely different ones at the hospital too. I'm trying to stay positive but bedside manner is really important to me during traumatic times! At least ill have DH, if they try and get him to go home god help them!

Still nothing from legally I'm so impatient to know the genders and names! I'm sure she is absolutely fine and the thread is the last thing on her mind, two must be quite overwhelming as well, finding time to mumsnet! Maybe she's floating around on a newly created October postnatal thread on her own! skull you'll have to check!!

flyer and the other size 10 by Xmas dreamers hopefuls!! I'd definitely be up for a thread, where would it be best to put it? In weight lost chat or postnatal? I've downloaded the couch to 5k podcast, I didn't realise it was free, it looks really good.

KarmaBiatch · 12/09/2013 11:47

Anyone with previous births have a 'feeling' that baby was going to come early, and actually did?

34+3 and have 'the feeling', but as it's my first then know the odds are more likely to make me go over the EDD. Smile

monkeytree · 12/09/2013 11:58

Natalie I know exactly where you're coming from. DD has been an only child for 7 years she has not been use to sharing my time and attention and I do wonder how the new baby will impact on us all. DD tells me that she doesn't think she will get so many cuddles when the baby comes along because I will be cuddling/feeding the baby. I have tried to say that I am worried that I will be the one left without any cuddles because everyone will be cuddling dd1 and dd2 so to make sure mum has lots of cuddles too (bizarre reverse psychology I know) and then I reassure her that there will be plenty of cuddles to go around. I have tried to keep her involved along the way - attending scans with me, shopping for baby stuff etc and dd has been really good, still I can't help but worry how things will turn out when our neat little unit of 3 will be disrupted. It's so hard to imagine after all this time.

The drive for a second DC came from me as DH was happy with just DD (although I know he will love dd2 very much when she comes along). Still that makes me feel even more anxious as I was responsible for this decision.

I also worry about how much love I will have for DD2 compared to DD1. We thought for various reasons that DD1 would be our only child and I have developed a really close bond with DD1 it's hard to imagine anything else comparing to that. I too have been a bit of a helicopter mum in the past and I am hoping that I will relinquish DD a bit from that when dd2 comes along. In the long run I think it will be lovely for DD1 to have a sister especially when the girls are grown up. DH and I are not young parents (especially DH).

Still working (though only 33+6). I work part-time hours 13 hours a week so trying to work up until 38 weeks. I work with some lovely people and enjoy my job and it distracts me from birth related thoughts although I am struggling to function with the sleep deprivation and working.

sisteroutlaw · 12/09/2013 12:00

Hey everybody! Just checking in. Actually had some work to do these past few days Shock. Hope legally and the babies are well, along with the rest of you.

Am 35 weeks today - time flies eh?! Getting more excited but have developed a bit of birth anxiety... first-timers look away now. Had a 3rd degree tear last time but lots of mitigating circumstances - meconium baby > stirrups > ventouse > no stretching time allowed. Anyway, would really like a birthing centre birth (attached to labour ward) but am fearing the conflict when I come to the assessment unit in full-on labour and having to state my case despite me getting the consultant to write in notes "is keen for birthing centre"/"knows risks". I feel that the midwives in attendance there will have more of a calling for it rather than getting a jaded one on the ward. Plus don't wanna be in a poky room with a bed against the wall. Obv can't predict what will happen. Having a tour of facilities this Sunday.

How are you all feeling about the big push? Hmm

Smitten1981 · 12/09/2013 12:13

Morning all 34 + 1 here, SC.

I'm so hot today I don't know what to do with myself. I'm sitting in the office in a summer dress with the fan directly on my face and I'm still boiling. It's not a sign of anything is it?

I'm going home after lunch for the afternoon, I have the midwife this afternoon so used that as an excuse. I'm expecting to be told my bump is too big. It's huge this week I measured it as 37cm last night - eep!

I'm starting to really struggle now.

Oh, and I tried the perenieal massage last night, OUCH, I lasted about 3 seconds then decided not to put myself through that again.

roofio87 · 12/09/2013 12:18

smitten when I attempted to measure my bump I came up at 34cm at 36+4, the mw put me at 37cm so I was very wrong!!
karma I have a feeling that my 'feeling' about baby coming early is purely wishful thinking. 37weeks tomorrow and I'm now desperate for him to arrive!!!

legallyblond · 12/09/2013 12:19

Hello!

Huge congratulations Skull!

So, sorry - been a bit caught up...!

Hugo and Valentina arrived on Tues at 13.46 and 13.47. Hugo weighed 6lb 2oz and Vally weighed 5lb 3oz. Both are fine and neither needed any help with breathing etc. I am so happy!

The c section was surreal and uncomfortable (lots if pulling and tugging) and the first 36 hours..... Urgh. Not good. The spinal wore off fast (within a couple of hours from it going in... So in recovery) and my god, getting up the first few times. Until late last night it was horrid pain wise but really really fine now (just under 48 hours after the op) and I now feel more comfortable and mobile than I did 48 hours after DD's birth, although that was because of the episiotomy.

Both twins are breast feeding fine. Hugo took a while to learn to latch and is still quite mucussy... Vally knows what she's doing no probs but because she was so little, they started checking her blood sugars... Huge palaba over the past two days (lots of tears from me!) but I agreed to formula top ups after three feeds (and argued out if tube to feed her in SCBU) and she's just passed the required blood sugar tests with flying colours! So that drama is over although only on v

legallyblond · 12/09/2013 12:20

Sorry... The condition that I keep post fed topping up until my milk comes in.

Hoping for a discharge tonight, but I am sceptical....

Will catch up later! Thanks for the lovely kind wishes x
