New thread :)

Natalieand · 12/09/2013 07:37

SC here at 35+3... Waters intact lol.

I'm not sure about the bedding rules when co sleeping but I would have thought if u are just having the cot along side your bed perhaps sleeping without a quilt or pillow seems a bit extreme? I don't think I would even be able to sleep without a pillow x

How r u doing tarlia I no u were concerned about being mean by evicting baby earlier but u were diagnosed with PE quite some time ago werent u? So you've done so well too make it this far! Have they given u steroids or anything?

Tarlia · 12/09/2013 07:38

Oh MoN that's awful :( you poor thing. Any more this morning? Hope not x

Oh no, terrified I'm sorry to hear that! How many weeks are you? Are they medicating? What's the plan for you?
I'm really hoping I can go home today, but depends on bloods. My BP is within safe range at the moment, which is really positive for me - still elevated but the extra medicine must be working.

Natalieand · 12/09/2013 07:39

Sorry newbie I cross posted with u. How r u feeling? R u in for monitorin or is iminant delivery likely? Xx

Tarlia · 12/09/2013 07:42

Morning nat pleased to hear coughing hasn't burst the baby bubble :D. How's the cold?
Yes, I've done incredibly well to get this far, as there have been some really hairy days, but joys of medicine and strict bedrest I think have really helped. I'm 36+5 now so they arnt phased if they have to deliver me soon, so no steroids.

Natalieand · 12/09/2013 07:53

Will they Emcs u tarlia or induce? Still absolutely full of cold my nose seems a little less stuffy and my ear is still blocked agh! The cough is gunna be the worst bit cos coughs literally seem to hang around forever don't they? I feel pathetic complaining really as some of u r really in well in hospital and a I have a winter cold and cough lol.

I really hope we hear from legally today!

Slippysnow · 12/09/2013 08:00

Thank you for all the congratulations :) to be fair, I was barely pregnant through my degree, it seemed to finish a lot earlier than most people's so if I remember correctly I was only studying for the 2/3 months of pregnancy- and i certainly didnt have it as rough as so many of you on here. it's so strange how I really can't remember such an important thing it's all a distant blur! But Thankyou again anyway

MotherOfNations · 12/09/2013 08:03

All stopped again this morning Tarlia. The midwife said last week that the discharge is just caused by my cervix preparing for labour. It's the accompanying back pain that starts me worrying as in my only experience of labour with ds all my pains were in my back.

JellyCurls · 12/09/2013 08:24

Question time and will catch up later.

Had WC vaccine yesterday and since then baby has been very quiet. To those who had vaccine, did your babies go quiet after it?

pinkbuttons · 12/09/2013 08:29

Morning ladies.

Glad to hear BP down a bit tarlia hope your able to go home today.
Sorry to hear your also struggling with PE terrified hope your not feeling too awful.

Sorry you had a hard night MoN glad your feeling better.

Also sorry to hear about OC ruby hope symptoms get under control a little bit for you.

nat sympathising with your cold as have got one here too and its beyond annoying. couldnt really breathe before with baby in ribs but now I really cant.

Has anyone else been gettong nightmares at all? for the past 4 nights ive hardly slept as just seem to have anxiety dreams and so vivid. last night I had one about being stuck in a lift with DS and tar started oozing through the gates and filling the lift and the next one was abiut him being kidnapped from a fair. woke up sobbing and had to go and check on him. so have been up since 5 and am fed up. Just wondered if anyone else had them or had any tips? im literally on the verge of demanding to sleep qith the light on Blush
Good Luck to all with appts today and check ups in hospital. I have scan today and consultant tomorrow to check thyroid isnt going to complicate birth plans. nervous to find out an estimated weight of her now Confused

PseudoBadger · 12/09/2013 08:29

No Jelly (but baby was generally pretty quiet back then anyway). Any change in movement please get checked x

OP posts:
pinkbuttons · 12/09/2013 08:30

sorry jelly cross posted. No quiet baby here after WC jab. would definitely give midwife a call if your concerned x

MrsO27 · 12/09/2013 08:37

Hi jelly it was a couple of days after my jab that I had to phone about reduced movement but all was ok and I'm not sure they are linked. Have you tried the cold drink/eat something sweet and sit in a quiet room for 30 mins with hands on bump? Sure all is ok. They're running out of room in there now so movements are a bit different.

roofio87 · 12/09/2013 09:35

morning all. sc at 36+6!! had a terrible sleep, strong bh with very achey cramps. mw said some people just feel more achey than others, defo not labour lol!!
jelly like others will say, if you're worried about movements go be checked, I'm sure everything ia fine!!

diege · 12/09/2013 09:57

Morning Smile Bra has just arrived pink, many thanks - it is gorgeous and should fit fine. I just hope I can do it justice!
I echo what others have said jelly re: movement. I really don't think any reduced movement could be linked with the injection, but if it is playing on your mind it would be worth a chat with the mw at the very least. I was in 3 times with dc5, the last time for increased movement Hmm and was always pleased I'd got things checked out.
34 +2 today and I have my scan this afternoon to see if my placenta's moved up. I am very anxious (I seem to have a 'thing' about scans) not least because every time I have a late scan they detect something called 'dilated renal pelves' (kidney issue) with the baby. Pretty harmless but needs monitoring post-birth with scans etc and occasionally further tests on the bladder. This has happened with all 5 of my babies, and it has always resolved by 12 weeks post-birth, but it does make me anxious. I wish they could just have a quick look at the placenta and leave it there, but I know they have a good look at everything in my hospital!
Hope everyone is ok - thinking of legally and the twins. I'm sure she's just super busy! Congrats skull, and love the name x

monkeytree · 12/09/2013 10:25

Congratulations Skull, lovely news.

Feeling a little left behind as only 33+6 today, plus lots of ladies are having their babies early. DD was a couple of days late so not banking on an early birth. A couple of friends have also had their babies early (thankfully they are healthy) so feel like I'm still plodding on with 5-6 weeks still to go.

Was told that I was unlikely to have any more children after DD and took a while to conceive DD2 also found out about this pregnancy early because of watchfulness so it has been a long journey which I think has made the whole pregnancy/baby thing feel longer (but eternally grateful that I am actually pregnant!) However having said all this I do hope that the baby does come near to due date (due the day dd breaks up for October half term) as this will give us a settling in period as a new family unit. Just getting tired, achy, big, breathless etc.

Slept better last pm but for some reason now feel even more tired today....really strange. Yes been having strange dreams on and off lately

I fell on the stairs whilst pregnant with DD1 but was holding the banister rail never really fell down the stairs before that, I think I slipped, maybe it's because our weight/balance is a bit different?

DH has a weeks paternity leave at full pay so glad about this and any other days he will make up with leave as big drop to statutory pay for him.

sending good wishes to the ladies who will be having their babies soon

claphammama · 12/09/2013 10:25

Morning all. I feel like my life can now have an official title: "Sleepless in Clapham"...

hope everyone has a good day today.

tarlia thanks for putting things into perspective for me - 2 days, 1 sleep etc... Smile and hope they will let you out today x

diege fingers crossed for your placenta scan today! we have a good track record of moving placentas on this thread. And I know what you mean about being nervous - I felt the same when she said "the placenta is now OK but lets have a quick look at the baby". I had no reasons to worry but felt nervous in case she finds something. The good thing is that you will know this afternoon and hope it will all be good news

jelly mine was actually much quieter the day of the vaccine. However, it was last Wednesday - our mini heatwave with 29 degrees in London and I've heard that they tend to be quieter when it's really hot so this might have been the reason. He was back to normal the day after. However, call and check if you are really worried.

orange sorry you are in so much pain... hope it's better today

claphammama · 12/09/2013 10:34

crosspost - I feel the same monkeytree as only 34+2 here and I found out I was pregnant 10 days after conception, even before my period was due (I'm not a very patient person :-) So it feels like I've been pregnant fooooreeeeveeeer... and the fact that some ladies are having babies now or will have them very soon makes my due date feel so far away! But there are a few of us here with late October dates and other ladies promised not to start the postnatal thread until we are all done Smile DS was 6 days early so I'm hoping this one will be 1-2 weeks early too.

Are you still working? I'm finishing tomorrow and hoping I will enjoy my last weeks a bit more if I can relax and have lots of rest. I don't want to wish this special time away

BridgetandtheHairyBrigands · 12/09/2013 10:45

Good morning all, I have definitely slipped behind on this thread so apologies in advance if I've missed important news or get people muddled up.

Congrats on your graduation Slippy - you deserve to feel very proud of your achievement. Do you mind saying what subject you've been studying?

MoN and Warlin - do you both have appointments today? Good luck x

HotSoup - I think we are buying very similar baby 'kit' as I've also gone for a little green sheep mattress for the bednest. I haven't taken the plastic off yet, so haven't yet had a good sniff of it Grin

The birthing shirt is ok, but I'm definitely not blown away by it. It's longer than I expected (but I'm a bit of a shortie); the front opening is good as the buttons go down quite far; it feels quite soft and I think it will be quite cool to wear. Apart from a bit of ruching it is pretty shapeless but for some reason my bump looks absolutely enormous in it!

Pinkbuttons sorry to hear of the nightmares. I've been having very vivid horrible dreams for the past few nights too (stuff like people being ill, arguments with neighbours, DP turning out to be gay and abandoning the family etc.) No tips I'm afraid Sad

Good luck with your scans Pink and diege

Oh, on the Michael Rosen question, it's nothing major. On the one hand I think it's great he's so passionate about children's books and literacy. But on the other, I really haven't warmed to him when I've heard him on "word of mouth" and being interviewed about phonics. I'd really like to like him, but find something about him really annoying.

Natalieand · 12/09/2013 10:47

Good luck with today's scan diege

I'm due 14/10 so I'm right in the middle of everyone and I often feel I'm far behind so I can imagen how u late October ladies must be feeling. Saying that ppl due on oct 31sr could easily have babies before those due on oct 1st if they r born at 37 weeks and October 1st babies r over due so don't loose hope lol.

Waiting in for the car seat to be collected today then ill have to wait in again for a new one to be delivered, I hate waiting in for deliveries I wish they would give time slots or at least an am/pm thing

I no we discussed briefly before but with those having second dc are u anxious for this baby to arrive? I'm worried I'm gunna miss it just being me dh and dd and worried I won't love this baby the same I was in a right state crying last night. Dh thinks that when the baby is born I will be fine and forget I felt like this he also says its just because I love dd so much I can't imagen loving anyone else the same. And listening to him it makes sense but it doesn't stop my hormonal self getting into a state about it. I just feel guilty for feeling like if, which makes me feel even worse. Please tell me I'm not the only one stressing over it? I keep looking and dd and just wanting to cry thinking I'm ruining her life

BridgetandtheHairyBrigands · 12/09/2013 10:55

Can I pick the brains of those who already have more than 1 child? Is there anything you did (or didn't do) when you made the transition from 1 to 2 that you are pleased you did or wish you hadn't done?

Is there anything you wish you'd known or been prepared in advance for?

I'm probably just being an old worry wart but can't help feeling I should be preparing DD more (not sure how though!) or that I'm overlooking something.

Oh Clapham, love your first trimester as an 80 year old woman comment. That's exactly how I'm feeling, especially now my sickness is back.

Natalieand · 12/09/2013 11:00

bridget I think our first dc are a simular age? Dd will be 3 on nov 1st x

BridgetandtheHairyBrigands · 12/09/2013 11:01

Natalie - x-posts with you but it seems we are both having concerns about going from 1 to 2 children and the change it will mean for our families.

I keep looking at my DD and thinking the same as you....

Pinkforboys · 12/09/2013 11:02

Bridget that's a great question- I'd like to hear the answer too.

Nat I'm with you. I feel like I'm about to be unfaithful to DS (funnily enough not DH- I went thru that when DS arrived and now he's waaaaay down on the list!) My Mum keeps reassuring me that your love just multiplies, a bit like being able to love chocolate as well as cake Confused but that you always have a special place in your heart for no.1 (she only told me that when I had DS as I'm no.3 of siblings).

I just want to curl up in bed already. Is it the weather? I have zero energy. And indigestion. Not acid (for a change) but bloated tummy which I don't exactly have room for... Bl**dy leeks. Craved them last night and regretting it today Hmm

Natalieand · 12/09/2013 11:05

bridget dd seems very excited she's asking when his car seat can go in the car? Asking if she can give him a dummy? Asking if she can share her grapes Hmm and share her baths and share her room but I don't think she truly knows what's going to hit her when he's here, she asks me every morning if he's ready too come out yet? Dh and I are gunna get her a little gift bag with a few goodies and when he's born dh is gunna take her to buy the baby a teddy of her choice to bring to the hospital for him
