Congratulations Skull. A lovely name & a lovely baby.

Two girls so far from the mummies on the thread. Wonder if legally evened things up! I do hope she's ok,I know we're all worrying about her,but to be honest the last thing on my mind when I had DS after a section was updating a thread! And she's got two! Fingers crossed all is well & she's "just" busy.

Glad you're home falcon :)

Pinkforboys · 11/09/2013 21:19

ana we had DS in our bed from night 1 as I completely freaked about how to keep him the right temp. We didn't change our bedding at all- kept pillows and duvet with no problem. I kept him close to me and far from DH so my body could regulate his temp. Was quite handy when I got so knack'd from BF that I'd fall asleep on my side while he helped himself 'buffet style' (that was when we were both pretty well practised at it)

Coincidentally I got an email from Avent today with a link to this about sleeping: sleeping

I'm getting worried about legally now. Hope they're all okay.

ananikifo · 11/09/2013 21:25

Thanks pink I've been looking at google images and it looks like all the bedside cots are being demonstrated with pillows and duvets. I think I just misunderstood advice I read months ago.

Pinkforboys · 11/09/2013 21:43

ana I should probably add that I didn't ever put a pillow/duvet in DS's moses or cot. I'm still in two-minds about the cot-bumper thing too.

Being behind most of you by a couple of weeks I'm only now understanding your comments about strange movements in the pelvic region. 'Sheila' must have moved the last day or so and is playing cymbals on my nether regions. Weird sensation.

ananikifo · 11/09/2013 21:47

And I should add that I'm not thinking about baby pillows or duvets. I've just got fitted sheets and sleep bags for baby, plus blankets that I imagine will be more for pram/car seat/non-bed use.

My baby has learned a new trick where he stretches out and pokes me in the diaphragm and nether regions at the same time.

Natalieand · 11/09/2013 21:57

Ok so I'm having a mini panic. Has anyone ever heard of a cough breaking your waters? I no it sounds dramatic but I've for such a bad cough I'm precticaly spending half the day coughing my guts up can the pressure break my waters? I'm desperate not to labour before 38 weeks as my midwife is not on duty now until then :-(

MrsHoratioNelson · 11/09/2013 21:57

I keep getting a heel poke out on my right side. DH being v squeamish about it. He doesn't seem to appreciate that I've been feeling similar for months, just not visibly on the outside!

OrangeBlossom2 · 11/09/2013 22:04

Went to nct class today. Neither me nor DH learnt anything new Sad.
PGP aggravated by the plastic chairs.
Everyone is behind us as it was actually a November class, but most of you are ahead of me so I have both sides covered.
Hopefully the breastfeeding one is more useful next week.

favellio · 11/09/2013 22:07

No advice I'm afraid natalieand, I hope it doesn't. Google might help in this case. Hope the cough eases soon Thanks

I've got to go for another GTT blood test tomorrow as baby's tummy is measuring 4 weeks ahead of other measurements and I've still got excess fluid. My GTT at 28 weeks was negative, so hoping this one will be too, otherwise I'll be induced at 38 weeks (36wks today) the thought of another 2hrs sitting around in the waiting room is not exciting me one bit Hmm

Pinkforboys · 11/09/2013 22:16

my sympathies to you favellio the threat of a second GTT test last week was enough to make me cry and want to stomp my feet in protest. That said I still haven't had my results back. Good luck (and hope you have a good book)

Is it officially bedtime yet? I'm getting grumpier by the day, can only hope sleep will help...

char1eston · 11/09/2013 22:38

MrsH I have the same heel poke on my right!

Congrats Skull Grin

MotherOfNations · 11/09/2013 22:55

I don't think so Nat but it can cause your staples post c-section to twist and inbed making it a very difficult job for the midwife to remove them.

My back is still aching and I've had a little more pink discharge followed by throwing up while trying to brush my teeth. I've got an appointment at the fetal medicine unit at 2.30 tomorrow. I'm dreading trying to get there on public transport but given how I'm feeling tonight I'm glad of the appointment.

AnythingNotEverything · 11/09/2013 23:00

Good luck with you GTT favellio - I suspect I'll need another before we meet this baby. I second the hope that you have a good book!

claphammama · 11/09/2013 23:19

good luck favellio and sorry you have to go through it again

nat doubt it will break your waters but you are likely to wee yourself now and then Grin

pink it's definitely bedtime now but it seems we can't sleep anyway so what's the point?

I've been feeling rubbish all night and have terrible nausea. It now feels like the first trimester again but experienced by an 80 years old lady

claphammama · 11/09/2013 23:21

tucking also forgot to say yesterday - so happy you got your maternity pay sorted! there is some justice after all, shame about the stress

moonblues · 11/09/2013 23:30

Pink meant to say I'd be excited to meet Michael Rosen too. He always seems exceptionally nice when I've heard him on the radio. Bridget what made you be in 2 minds about him? (if you don't mind me asking?)

I've also signed up to the PTA for another year, though not sure how much use I'm going to be. At least I've got a good excuse for missing the next meeting. :)

moonblues · 11/09/2013 23:35

Clapham sorry you're feeling rubbish. Totally identify with your description. I'm fed up with having to think before rolling over in bed, it's like a military operation, shifting pillows, moving in stages. Hmm Definitely feel old.

Sparkeleigh · 11/09/2013 23:41

skullbabe congratulations! Lily is a beautiful name!

Tarlia sorry they haven't let you out, but awh, that's so sweet of your son! Smile When will you be induced if they bring it forward?

Hope the baby turned for you warlin

Flowers to everyone who's feeling rubbish, hope tomorrow is better!

SeriousStuff · 12/09/2013 00:58

Trying to delay bedtime as have really bad heartburn and don't want to lie down yet. Completely self-inflicted...I've definitely eaten too much today!

OrangeBlossom2 · 12/09/2013 04:57

Good luck with appointments today MoN and favellio.
Hope you have good days falcon and Tarlia.
My hips really hurt so i cant sleep, stupid plastic chairs grr.
Clapham that description of morning sickness but this time experienced by an old woman is spot on.
Skull I hope you and DP are having a lovely time gaing at Lilly.

OrangeBlossom2 · 12/09/2013 05:51

Can't get comfy on either side, can't breathe because of a cold and nausea is back. Feeling very fed up tonight.

Those with pgp, have you researched labour positions? Worried I am going to do lasting damage with some. Nct lady didn't think it was an issue and said it is the front joint which is the problem which it isn't in my case. Also talked about importance of opening pelvis which involves wide spread legs - ow - both in labour but also to get baby in the right position from now. That goes against physio advice of legs together at all times so not sure what to do.

HotSoupDumpling · 12/09/2013 06:11

Me neither... Been awake since 4.30...

Sorry Ana, I got the wrong end if the stick! I'm using normal pillows/duvet in my own bed, should be fine as baby will only be feeing here, not sleeping here.

Good luck with the appmts tomorrow mon and fav. I have my fingers crossed for legally.

Tarlia · 12/09/2013 07:16

mon glad you are being seen today, I hope you are all ok.

orange so sorry you had such an uncomfy night. Can't wait to be back to normal! Two tips, measure the distance you can comfortably part your legs now and tie a string and remember where measured - perhaps at knees. This is mostly incase you opt for an epi, but the only scream I made in labour was when I was on my side and MW lifted a leg.
I wasn't able to be very active last or prob this time due to SPD and monitoring, laboured mostly on my left side, knees together and pulled up to chest. Didn't hinder my speed of 3 hours from first twinge.

clapham so sorry you are still feeling grotty :( Two more days to go! 1 more sleep. 16ish hours of actual work?

ana def advised not to use a duvet while co sleeping - we used seperate blankets and dressing gowns if super cold. Kept pillows as can't sleep without. However sounds like you'll be side car sleeping rather than cosleeping ie staying awake and putting baby to bed once fed? In which case sleep as normally would.

tucking SO pleased.

mrso can't believe you fell again - you poor thing! :(

nat I wouldn't think so. They really have to hook and pull to break those waters.

I feel so loved by you all from all of these kind words and support. Thank you, lovelies Flowers and sneaky Cake for breakfast - shhhh.

terrifiednewbie · 12/09/2013 07:26

Congrats skull!
im sorry I am completely lost with who has been posting what but whoever is taking ibuprofen in third trimester-please run that by your obstetrician as im pretty sure nsaids in third trimester can be an issue.

Hope everyone has had a better night.
Tarlia-i share your pain: I'm also stuck in hospital with pre eclampsia. Here's to hoping its not for too much longer.

orange- the physios I am seeing did an assessment to see how far I could safely part my legs and I had been planning to tie string so my knees didnt part any further than that and aim for a water birth (I have found hydrotherapy has been far more useful for my pgp than anything else so far). That plan is probably out of the window as I doubt the birthing pool will touch me with a barge pole right now but it may be worth talking to your physio re labour positions. On fours may also be an option for you?

Hope the twins are okay

MotherOfNations · 12/09/2013 07:33

Arrrgghh. I feel like I haven't slept. I dreamt that I woke up bleeding heavily and phoned for an ambulance that never came. That little bit of blood stained discharge must have been really playing on my mind.
