Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
roofio87 · 11/09/2013 09:03

morning. SC here at 37+5. got to wait in today for my new travel system to be delivered. its coming between 07 30 and 17 30. fun! but as my mum pointed out if the baby's arrival was that specific It'd be great!! haha
sparkleigh I saw your post and you're braver than me for getting new boiler fitted that close to due date, but if thats the earliest it can be done then I'd say go for it and get it done with. only major problem would be if you were actually in labour in hospital the day it was meant to be fitted!!

roxvox · 11/09/2013 09:06

Sorry to hear that falcon Thanks

MrsO I hope your ankle is feeling better today.

37 weeks today and SC, but had a night time scare. Home alone (DH about 200 miles away) and I woke up choking on my own vomit. Only a very small amount, but at first the blind panic was that I couldn't breathe. Once I'd got over that and made it to the toilet to be sick (although I actually wasn't in the end despite lots of threats) I noticed that my pyjama bottoms were wet. After an initial panic thinking my waters had gone, I did the obligatory (and oh so graceful) sniff test and realised it was just urine that must have seeped out when I was choking for a breath a few minutes earlier! Phew. Baby can come at any time, but preferably not when DH is so far away!

HotSoupDumpling · 11/09/2013 09:12

spark - I think you'll be more than okay... the baby will do better than you! It's not snowy/freezing weather, babies do well in the cold (and they just stay wrapped up all the time) and you've got the kettle for baby baths and milk. I'd be more worried about how I was going to fill an adult sized bath up with all the kettles and shampoo my hair etc!!

Haylebop12 · 11/09/2013 09:24

roofio I had dd at 37+5. Just saying Wink

Sorry to those feeling rough but the end is in sight and we will all get there!

SeriousStuff · 11/09/2013 09:30

Spark I'm in a similar situation - getting a new boiler in 1.5 weeks when I'll be 37 wks. Has to be done before winter though and that's the earliest the engineer can come out!

Agree with other posters though - at least babies don't require full baths and long showers! Luckily, we have an open fire in the living room if it gets really cold, and if we do get a freak snowstorm before your boiler is sorted, maybe use an electric fire?

I thought maybe this article would put your mind at ease: www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-21537988

GTbaby · 11/09/2013 09:37

Falcon. Sry I cross posted last night. Hope your feeling better this morning.

It's tradition to go to maternal home after baby is born. Well originally at 7months you were sent "home" to have baby and stayed there until 5weeks post natal. Now it's more of a 2week visit after baby is born. Dh won't come with me. But houses are 5min apart so he will visit.

At hospital. Don't worry. SC. got dr app to discuss OC.

MrsO27 · 11/09/2013 09:43

It's mrsh with the sore ankle, I just have a sore arse from my fall! Blush. Thinking it's slightly better today though, fingers crossed it's just bruising. Will be taking much more care on stairs from now on though.
roxvox That's scary, glad you're ok. Am I right in saying that fluid/waters smell sweet? Is that what you were sniffing for?

BridgetandtheHairyBrigands · 11/09/2013 09:44

Oh roxvox that sounds horrible and very scary - my sickness has come back too but thankfully not in the middle of the night.

I am struggling to keep up with this thread but massive unmumsnetty hugs to everyone having a tough time - hang on in there.

Spark - I think I'd press ahead with the boiler. You may go overdue and the whole thing will be sorted before baby arrives. I agree that the main inconvenience could be hot baths/showers for you.

Pinkforboys - Did you mention that Michael Rosen was visiting your DS's school today? Would be interested to hear how that goes - I have mixed feelings about him. Do you think you'll carry on your PTA duties post- baby?

One of the things I'm going to miss is being able to go in and help regularly at DD's school. It shouldn't make a difference (as lots of parents just aren't in a position to be able to volunteer) but being a known 'face' up at school has definitely had its advantages.

roofio87 · 11/09/2013 09:46

haha hayley combination of baby brain and wishful thinking. ... I'm 36+5!!!!

Smitten1981 · 11/09/2013 09:49

Falcon I hope things are sorted soon, you must be so fed up.

Rox I keep getting the same, the sleep vomit thing has happened once and was scary for the same reason, I couldn't breathe for a moment. This week I keep getting acid in my throat at bedtime and it wakes me up all night. I'm knackered today.

Haylebop12 · 11/09/2013 09:51

Ah buggar roofio well maybe another week then. Btw it was spontaneous labour... Smile

roxvox · 11/09/2013 09:58

Thanks MrsO. Yeah, I think your waters are meant to have a sweet smell. I wouldn't know what smell to expect, but it was obviously urine.

Thanks Bridget. I have actually been fortunate enough to not have any sickness at all throughout this pregnancy, so perhaps this one-off night time one is an attempt to make up for that (not saying that last night was equivalent to those who suffered for months with MS by the way!)

Smitten I struggled to get back to sleep afterwards (kept sitting up thinking the sick was coming on again) until I took a Rennie. Not sure if it was indigestion related or not, but it seemed to help.

GTBaby I hope it goes well at the hospital today.

Sparkeleigh · 11/09/2013 10:09

rox flip, that's scary! Glad it was a false alarm!

Thanks everyone for the reassurance! I think I'll invest in some dry shampoo as a backup, thankfully I've got short hair and I can always go and gatecrash some friends or relations for a shower! Thanks for the article link serious, that puts it into perspective!

I got the MSE email this morning and Vertbaudet have £15 off £20 spends for new customers and 20% off for existing customers. I'm now dithering over what to get, useful stuff vs. nursery stickers Smile

roofio87 · 11/09/2013 10:09

roxvox im the same, didn't really have any nausea or vomitting in early pregnancy, but feeling very sick today. generally feel not great, wondering if I'm dehydrated so just had a pint of water and will sip another now!!

Warlin · 11/09/2013 10:11

Thanks char I have been wracking my slowly dying brain to work it out!

Wickedgirl · 11/09/2013 10:14

SC and 36 weeks today.

I too was awake (4hours!) with Braxtonhicks contractions. I will be going up for a sleep soon.....just wanted to sit down and check in first.

My 3rd labour was less than 2 hours, no tears and no stitches (baby weighed 9lb 4oz), so not everyone has a bad time of it 3rd time round. I'm hoping that this one will be just as quick and "easy".

We should hopefully hear some baby news today Grin

HotSoupDumpling · 11/09/2013 10:25

Whoops, cross-posted with roxvox - that does sound really stressful... I've got more nauseous and vomity lately, was it on the last thread that someone said it was because our hormone levels increase again?

(Our Little Green Sheep mattresses have arrived...I would recommend them strongly to everyone, although beware they do smell a lot like sheep! It's not a particularly offensive smell, but did remind me of an agricultural show - because that's the only time city-girls like me get to see proper sheep.

spark, thanks for the Vertbaudet link, I'll have a look.

roofio87 · 11/09/2013 10:25

I was my mum's third and she kindly informs me that I "practically just fell out!" Grin

Flyer747 · 11/09/2013 10:28

SC 35+3

I just looked at my pregnancy app and it says 4 weeks and 4 days to go or 32 days. I prefer the 32 days it sounds less time than 4 weeks 4 days!

Can't wait to hear baby news.

Hope you are feeling better falcon. Thanks

Pinkforboys · 11/09/2013 10:28

Morning Brew
It sounds like everyone is falling apart! is that what happens to us in our last few weeks??? [hugs] to all those suffering.

Bridget I'm curious as to your 'mixed feelings' about Michael Rosen...please say more.... or maybe not until after I've seen him! Yes- I'm planning on staying core to the PTA at least until sanity hits I doubt I'll spend much time at events, but I like to think I add a bit of value thru things I can still do on my 'puter when BF (I love designing posters!). Not sure what I'll do when I have DS demanding to go to the Hallowe'en Disco and I have a 1wk old at my boob Confused

I don't know if I was suffering bad BH last night or if my tummy was just protesting against wearing tights. I seem to be suffering major fashion crisis now it's got cold again- what's everyone else doing?
My Seraphine jeans have ripped at the belt loops cos I keep hoiking them up. 5 weeks left, I can hardly justify a new pair.

SeriousStuff · 11/09/2013 10:37

For those worrying about 3rd births - my mum said her 3rd was easiest. 1st (me) was a caesarian as I was breech, 2nd had to be induced, 3rd was really fast and straightforward, 4th was the most painful.

Pink I'm with you on the clothes front. My maternity jeans don't fit that great over my stomach anymore so they keep falling down, all my leggings have holes in them and the black 'stretchy' maternity trousers I bought are way too tight! And I'm determined not to buy another item of clothing until it's from a non-maternity section in a nice, trendy high street shop! What I am enjoying though is being able to wear scarves again!

Warlin · 11/09/2013 10:57

gt that sounds stressful, maybe your mil would be secretly pleased if you went to your mums. I take it your dH could stay at your mum's too?

JellyCurls · 11/09/2013 11:00

Pink my seraph one jeans have also ripped at the belt loops so I have my belt only connected at the back which is no use at all but makes me feel better. Refuse to buy any more mat clothes with 2 weeks left and no more planned babies.

I really need to pee but can't be bothered moving from couch, how lazy have I become?

MrsHoratioNelson · 11/09/2013 11:03

Blimey we're all at it - falling, choking. This is not good ladies!!

We've also got work going on in the house - we bought it as a wreck nearly 3 years ago and it's nearly done now, but the roof is leaking (after we'd replastered and decorated the room immediately below it Angry). So we had scaffolding put up on Monday (supposed to be last week...) and the roofer was meant to start yesterday... But didn't... Angry

It's at least partly DH's fault because he delayed for ages sorting it out and telling me not to so anything about it and now look where we are. At this rate we'll have people scampering about on the roof while I'm in labour!

SeriousStuff · 11/09/2013 11:10

Just a quick questions - is anyone else experiencing really painful movements down below? All morning, it's felt like the baby is either trying to head-butt or claw her way out. It's really taking my breath away and bringing tears to my eyes. When it gets really bad, I have to get up and walk around. MW said yesterday that it's 3/5 engaged, whatever that means...
