Can I see pictures from my phone app? I can never figure out how to see them?

Alex - you know I didn't have it. I did read though that whilst it's a new policy to give it to preggers women here, it's been standard practice in the US and other countries for years. Plus the baby has the same jab at 8 or 12 weeks, and they've been doing that for years too. There's no way I'd risk a newborn catching it in London, especially in winter, but you know what I'm like - always happy to be vaccinated against anything!! Smile

Alexandra6 · 10/09/2013 20:34

Do you mean you did have it janey? Confused I thought you did.

How is Miles cheek?

Purplemonster · 10/09/2013 21:10

I had it, didn't seem worth the risk not to.

Anyone else got a Duracell bunny baby? Mine just doesn't sleep in the day unless you go out in the pram or car she's awake all bloody day. Where's the 'off' switch? How do I make her sleep, apart from conking her over the head or lacing her milk with brandy...

MotherOfCleo · 10/09/2013 21:11

alex yep I had the jab a couple of weeks back, it has 4 things in it, not just whooping cough. I didn't want to risk not having it as I'd have felt awful if he then got whooping cough.

Left me with a sore arm for a few days but was worth it in my opinion.

Janey is right its been routine in the states for years, plus its not a live vacine so they aren't actually giving you any germs. The nurse I had was great and explained everything in great detail, if in doubt ask lots of questions first.

MotherOfCleo · 10/09/2013 21:12

oh and alex your boss sounds as much of a tool as mine....grrr. Sad Angry

janey1234 · 10/09/2013 21:17

Oh god, yes I DID have it. Can you tell I'm tired?!

AngryConfusedAngry

Cavort · 10/09/2013 21:30

I had the whooping cough vaccine Alex. And sod your boss, just take baby into work for cuddles when they're not there.

I am quite ashamed to admit I bought my first ever onesie today. Blush I have never been tempted previously but I couldn't ignore the front zip 4am easy boob access as the nights get colder as I am far too tight to leave the heating on all night. It's practical for winter BFing but I feel ridiculous. Blush

cavort it's fine, sounds cozy and practical. It's when grown men pop to the shops in them it's a problem! Wink

janey1234 · 10/09/2013 21:48

Oh cavort, thank god. I found myself eyeing them up in primark yesterday and was so disappointed in myself I stormed out the shop. But the thought of sitting in it the early hours on the nights Miles plays up was sooo appealing. As you have one I now consider them acceptable mum attire and will dash out and buy one tomorrow might consider getting one.

Cavort · 10/09/2013 22:24

Ha Janey I am so glad it's not just me! I now feel exonerted. Grin I got one from Asda and I think it's made for a 6 footer like you because it's bloody massive on a short arse like me! Grin

Popping in to say congrats Merkin on your healthy scan. It's such a relief, isn't it, and starts making it all feel real.

Operation Get Fat is going well over here, I have definitely grown a fair bit in the first week of my holiday. Downside is - the last couple of days after a big meal I have been so stretched that i have felt what seems to be my bellybutton piercing scar tearing! Ow! No one warns you about that one! Other downside is feeling too fat to walk about after dinner, so I think I might need to rethink my strategy a bit!

Alexandra6 · 11/09/2013 07:18

Grin ha I know exactly what you mean with the stretched feeling, and feeling absolutely stuffed after a meal! People are still telling me I look so small for last trimester which is hard not to secretly take as a compliment but I'm not worried as my mum says she was the same and ended up having huge babies! A bit too big with me - 10 and a half pounds!

Alexandra6 · 11/09/2013 07:35

janey I googled primark onesie to see what styles they have in case I want to get one in winter and it's really making me laugh as one came up on eBay and it's a cow onesie with a hood like a cows head! Grin Might pass on that style especially with all the breastfeeding! Wink

Cavort · 11/09/2013 07:45

Alex I think it's quite hard to buy one which isn't a novelty one. I just wanted a plain one in a dark colour and I thought I'd found one... until I looked at the hood and it was Minnie Mouse's head. Angry Who are these fully grown adults who want to relax on their sofa on a winter evening looking like Wonder Woman? Confused

OP posts:
Alexandra6 · 11/09/2013 07:56

Ooh they do a Wonder Woman one! Wink

Alexandra6 · 11/09/2013 07:59

There is def something wrong with the novelty ones like baby playsuits, they really do remind me of those adults who act like babies on that C4 programme a while back!

janey1234 · 11/09/2013 08:44

I really don't miss that stretching feeling at all. And how itchy my belly got towards the end - must also be stretchy skin related. Gallons of bio oil with stretch mark butter on top did help with the itching for me - and no stretch marks here. Could just be luck, but my mum got loads and I don't have one. except I'm paranoid that I might have some on my boobs once they go back to normal

Think I might go onesie shopping later. Mentioned it in passing to DP who didn't rip the piss too much either.

Miles is so cute, he really tries to have conversations now, is cooing away to DP as I type. Plus he always seems cuter after a good night Wink and he slept 7-8 last night with 20 min feeding sessions at 10 and 4. Lovely.SmileSmile

MotherOfCleo · 11/09/2013 09:51

Snap with the small stomach, I see food I want to eat but can't fit it in and if I do act like a porker and shovel it down I feel too full and like I might be sick. So attractive. Blush

Whenever my stomach gets itchy I moisturise it to within an inch of its life, I figure itching means stretching and stretching means stretch marks Angry.

My mate has a leopard print onsie, not my bag but it does look comfy! I think I'd get too hot, may change my mind when I'm up at 2am doing night feeds in December brrrrrrr.

BelissimaLol · 11/09/2013 10:18

All this talk of onesies is making me want to get one! I'm already getting chilly when u get my boob out at night!

Alexandra6 · 11/09/2013 12:35

I ideally wanted a summer baby so it wouldn't be cold for the first breast feeds/late nights and also so it would be nice to be out and about walking etc but I've decided it will be cozy cuddling up with the baby and wrapping up for winter walks and getting hot chocs and the odd mulled wine Plus beggars can be choosers in our case! Onesie sounds like a plan for winter though (and bet our heating bill will be high!)

Alexandra6 · 11/09/2013 12:36

Can't be choosers!

Cavort · 11/09/2013 13:31

Alex I personally think Spring would be the best time to have a baby. I didn't really get to enjoy the hot weather too much this year as I was still finding my feet with a newborn and getting no sleep, but if we had a heatwave now she's a few months old I would be out all the time in it. The one big advantage for me of a Summer baby was the light mornings. It made me feel so much more awake when it got light at 4am in those early weeks when she had me up for longer periods at all hours. I think it will be hard to do all the night wakings when it's cold and dark until 8am. But then your Autumn baby will apparently fare better at school than our Summer sprogs so every season has it's advantages and disadvantages. Smile Mulled wine, mmmm!

janey1234 · 11/09/2013 15:08

Agree about totally missing this summer as I was stuck on a sofa feeding. Bit of a shame really. Also agree that a spring baby would be best - avoid being heavily pregnant in the heat, get to enjoy the summer. Bit I honestly think a nov baby will be lovely. The first few weeks you'll be pretty much housebound whilst you find your feet - at least you won't be missing much outside! Agree with cavort though - I think the inky downside to a nov baby is that the nights are so long - somehow getting up for the day at 4am withMiles wasn't so bad when it was light outside....

MotherOfCleo · 11/09/2013 15:14

I agree, the nights are going to seem soooo long. Although it will be dark for longer so fingers crossed that might encourage him to sleep as if! I will no doubt encourage me to be a lazy cow and do very little exercise outside.

It also means I have less hours of daylight to fit in dog walking. The paths round us aren't overly good, very bumpy, and the usual places I walk her aren't lit well or aren't lit at all. Might be ok to navigate in the pram but not with the sling I hope to get. Actually thinking about it I wonder if I can somehow strap a torch or reflectors onto the pram, just to ensure we are seen when crossing roads etc. Hum, there is a random thought.

MotherOfCleo · 11/09/2013 15:19

Oh and I put on my waterproof coat yesterday to walk the dog, it no longer zips up. Blush So winter can't arrive yet as I refuse to buy a new coat to use for just a couple of months.
