Glad you're ok Alex. That must have been a bit of a scare. My Mum was involved in quite a bad accident while pregnant with me. No airbags in 1978 but bump got quite a whack on the steering wheel and I was absolutely fine tho some would argue otherwise.

That's great news Janey. You are so motivated to be bothered to diet with a small baby. I really don't think women should feel they have to lose baby weight too quickly but at the same time it does feel good when it comes off. Smile I think I am still losing around half a pound per week without making any effort whatsoever, but I am under pre-pg weight now so I could just do with maintaining it rather than losing. DH's Wealth Manager came round yesterday (sounds more fancy than it is, he's just a bloke who tries to sell us pensions, insurances, etc.) and told me in a very strategically-worded and polite way that I will look gaunt if I lose any more. Hmm He's probably right, I am just not someone who is suited to being skinny.

A better night sleep-wise. She woke twice to feed as normal and then just woke once more for a few minutes so a vast improvement on the previous night. Still haven't cracked the 40 minute nap though unless she is in the pram. Confused

Janey I tried a swaddling (of sorts) last night to get a better sleep. I daren't swaddle properly in case she rolls onto her front but she spent the whole of the previous night doing as you describe (except with her arms), so I tied the sleeves of her babygrow together across her chest - extreme I know and could just be coincidence but we had a much better night. Apparently babies sleep in cycles of 40ish minutes and the first 40 minutes is not a deep 'proper' sleep, so they can wake grumpy if they don't have longer than 40 minutes. This is why I am out with the pram every day now to break through the 40 minute threshold. Confused

Funny you should say that - miles was just refusing to sleep so I swaddled him up for the first time in ages and bingo he nodded off....

janey1234 · 11/10/2013 10:00

And exactly 40 mins later woke up grumpy damn it.

Alexandra6 · 11/10/2013 10:26

Thanks cavort that's really reassuring to hear, I'm trying to resist googling whiplash/shock etc and pregnancy as it will accomplish nothing! If anything bumpy has been even more active than even this week - again I'm not googling whether a baby can be too active! I'm just trying to relax and think how bloody lucky we were.

I'm glad the diet is going well janey - I take it this is a non-fast day as I'm ready to be a piggy when we meet soon for hot chocs! Grin

Cavort · 11/10/2013 10:38

I feel your pain Janey. Sad Just getting waterproofs on to go out walking in the rain for nap number 2....

MotherOfCleo · 11/10/2013 13:04

Yuck to walks in the rain!! Sad Having a dog to walk in winter is rubbish. Noticed my OH left his phone at home this morning, along with the lunch he got me to make him lets hope I dont desperately need him today then huh

Thanks for the news re baby being engaged, seems like shes been told otherwise, I thought it wasn't much of a sign though. We have a mutual friend who is treating the whole think as a competition, lots of 'guess what, her babies engaged now', 'your bumps small you'll definitely be late, not like Kay, she'll be early'.....yawn...very annoying.

HazleNutt · 11/10/2013 13:24

The good part is that you need to walk the dog anyway, so there's no extra work besides getting the baby dressed.

MotherOfCleo · 11/10/2013 14:14

Nice positive slant hazel Grin I am praying Cleo walks as well with the pram outside as she does in the house and garden, otherwise I'll be tied in knots. Blush Confused

Cavort · 11/10/2013 14:14

The dog thinks it's Christmas with all these 2+ hour walks. He usually gets an hour a day during the week.

OP posts:
Cavort · 11/10/2013 14:15

... abd he walks great with the pram Smile

OP posts:
MotherOfCleo · 11/10/2013 14:48

Phew, FX Cleo does too, I thought she'd be a pain but she is really interested/scared of it so walks right next to me so I can protect her.....daft dog! Grin

Quodlibet · 11/10/2013 21:09

See this is another reason I want a dog... I want someone to make me get out of the house and tramp round the park in the rain!

I have had a duvet day today feeling dreadful with this cold, and was awake at 4am this morning unable to sleep with my stuffy nose. My immune system is clearly buggered, I never normally feel this bad for so long with a cold!

Alexandra6 · 11/10/2013 21:27

I'll join in for a moan quod, had my whooping cough earlier so not sure if it's that or the weather but I'm feeling really tired and drained tonight! They did a bit of monitoring of the baby and while they were doing it, they said the head isn't engaged yet, but then I'm only 33 weeks.

No dog to walk here but just a cat who weirdly likes water so goes for a run around and then wants to have a snooze on our bed with her little mucky paws - luckily all of our bed sheet sets are dark!!

Purplemonster · 11/10/2013 21:35

Quod - help yourself to one of mine pick the wolf, pleeeease It is so frustrating that I can't walk the dogs because his stupid wolf is totally mental excitable and is so big and strong I literally can't hold her and I can't even just walk my own dog because the wolf goes mental and wrecks the house if you leave her behind. I had all these dreams about walking my dog with the pram which I can't do. And of course he's working so many hours the dogs aren't getting nearly enough exercise which isn't so bad for my older dog but isn't at all fair on his young dog.

Just more empty promises he made that never materialised - I didn't want the damn dog in the first place as we had a nice easy life with just my dog that I looked after myself but he was desperate for a puppy and promised he would walk her in the morning before work which happened twice in two years, that he would train her well enough that I could handle her which I can't, that we could still have holidays which we haven't in over two years, she's wrecked the house, pisses everywhere if you leave her at home and he does none of the jobs like brushing, picking up poo, flea treating etc, it's all down to me.

I'm not sure quite how our relationship has survived this dog actually (just barely is the answer). Between that and the attic conversion that isn't... Oh and look, its gone 9.30pm and he's not home from work. again and is going shooting all day saturday. He might as well be a NRP, they only see their kids on Sundays too. Sorry, moan, moan moan Grin

Cavort · 11/10/2013 21:36

Yup, there's nothing like a dog standing by the door looking at the lead with his bottom lip out to make you feel like a nice walk in the pouring rain and howling wind like today, especially as I seem to have misplaced the zip off hood from my outdoor coat so I had to hold the dog's lead while pushing the pram and also holding an umbrella. When my mobile then rang I came to the conclusion that I clearly need more limbs.

Purplemonster · 11/10/2013 21:39

My GSD doesn't like the rain - if you try and walk her in the rain she whines and asks to go home, it's great, you don't have to get wet, guilt free and she's been the same since she was a pup Grin

Purplemonster · 11/10/2013 21:41

Oh and hope everyone feels better soon- pregnancy really does knacker your immune system (sorry, didn't mean to be all me me me, woe is me)

Cavort · 11/10/2013 21:44

Sorry Purple cross post. Ummm......

OP posts:
Alexandra6 · 11/10/2013 21:44

Now we have no car, I'm doing a daily walk to the food shops which was a pain today in the rain but at least gets me some exercise even though no cute dog or scary sounding wolf to walk! Really need to be organised and do a big online food shop ASAP!

Alexandra6 · 11/10/2013 21:45

Oh my god I would love a Wine or three tonight, really would!

Purplemonster · 11/10/2013 21:50

Mmmm Wine now there's an idea, I wonder if we have got any? (Sorry pg berries!)

BelissimaLol · 11/10/2013 21:50

Wow Alex that must have been scary. Glad you're ok though.
We had bcg jab yesterday and it's not as bad as the full jabs but baby has been very clingy today and only wants me. Dh got upset I think as she clearly wanted nothing to do with him serves him right for being a dick last week
I went to a church playgroup today and really enjoyed it. Will even attend mass next week!
Also got a place in the best swimming school around here so we have our first lesson on Monday. Not looking forward to showing my flab around but other than that it should be exciting!

Purplemonster · 11/10/2013 21:58

Lol - I'm still wearing my maternity swimming costume Blush

Cavort · 11/10/2013 22:12

I never bothered with one, I just stretched an old tankini thinking I would buy a new one afterwards, which then never happened so now I am going on a posh spa day tomorrow wearing a misshapen tankini. Oh well, fuck it, I have 10 hours off from Mum duties tomorrow and fully intend to make the most of it even if I do look like a twat.
