trying again
Well merk you have all that to look forward to!!!! Baby was hungry so one's gotta do what's one's gotta do GrinGrin

HazleNutt · 10/09/2013 09:50

Victor generally manages to self-settle, sometimes if he's in a grumpy mood I have to bounce the hammock to get him to sleep (I seriously love that hammock).

MotherOfCleo · 10/09/2013 09:55

I have a wriggly baby today...yay! Grin Little brat scaring my like that yesterday!

Cavort · 10/09/2013 10:15

Merk the lack of sleep and night waking really isn't that bad. I used to need 8 hours minimum and now I don't get anywhere near that and I feel fine. Your body somehow just adjusts to needing less. Having said that, there's no denying the early days were hell on the sleep front but they don't last long Smile How was your scan?

I tried a self-settling experiment this morning after the 6am feed... she was awake but still tired so I put her back into the basket in the dark and lurked out of sight gently rocking the basket and repeatedly putting the dummy back in. This resulted in 25 minutes of her lying with her eyes closed but frantically waving her arms and legs around while making an unhappy straining noise. And then I gave up, got her out and rocked her and she was fast asleep in 2 minutes. Confused So I had an extra 2 hours sleep.

Ah, that's what miles used to do - lots of waving arms around. Even the sleep sheep somehow manages to get him to sleep on the occasions he does that now. I bloody love that sheep... £30 well spent!xx

Cavort · 10/09/2013 10:41

We have something similar to a sleep sheep and she is completely indifferent to it. Angry I will try further experimentation. She self-settles great after the 11pm and 3am feeds so she can do it, I just have to work out how to encourage it during the day.

Budge up... I'm officially 12 weeks and all looks fine on the scan! We even saw toes and fingers with an amazing degree of clarity! GrinGrinGrin

MotherOfCleo · 10/09/2013 12:17

Welcome 12+ week Merk and MiniMerk. The scans are amazing aren't they. Grin You can start to enjoy it now.

janey1234 · 10/09/2013 13:28

Plenty of room here merk Smile
Big congratulations on the scan

Purplemonster · 10/09/2013 13:58

Congratulations Merk!

Cavort · 10/09/2013 14:01

Absolutely great news Merk, welcome aboard! If the pre-12 weekers are hovering in a helicopter then I reckon we're on a boat over here. Preferably a luxury cruise liner to make the remaining 6 months as comfortable as possible but BerryFerry probably sounds better. Grin

MotherOfCleo · 10/09/2013 15:13

What a love gift cav!!! Some people are so kind!

Ohhh yes please, never been on a cruise before and lounging around the pool in the sun does sound good. Needs to be HUGE though so we don't get seasick. Grin

It's a big old ship with room for all, who else am I going to ask stupid questions about labour, birth plan, Bfing, lack of sleep etc if you ladies aren't around? You can't leave us!

MotherOfCleo · 10/09/2013 15:15

cav just looked at the photo, she is so beautiful, bet she gets away with murder with those big soulful eyes. Gorgeous toy box too. Oh and also loving the fact she is wearing blue Grin

HazleNutt · 10/09/2013 15:38

congratulations merk! feels more real now?

HazleNutt · 10/09/2013 15:40

cavort just out of interest, what colour are Elodie's eyes? They look quite dark, but that might be the light.

MotherOfCleo · 10/09/2013 16:42

Grr just had a run in with my boss, he can be such a cock. He expects me to do everything, I am here to Account Manage although I seem to do invoicing, admin, reception duties and anything else he can think of. He asked me a really techy question which I have already told him I don't have the knowledge or skill to answer (all to do with web coding) he doesn't like out coder though so insists on asking me.

Then threw his toys out the pram when I stood up to him and told him I can't explain the discrepancies and that it wasn't within my remit to understand the technical workings of the code, I could account manage and create his reports but with technical queries he needs to ask the coder. He then threw the report in question in the bin.

Such a charmer.

Cavort · 10/09/2013 17:30

Hazle they're very dark blue at the moment. When she was born they were so dark you couldn't make any colour out at all but they are getting lighter gradually. My eyes are dark blue so I assume hers will finally end up my colour as DH's are brown.

Mother your boss sounds like an arse, as most bosses generally are.

I often wonder how people who have no skills, neither people skills or any other, manage to get promoted. I have some at work as well who are not only useless but also assholes.

MotherOfCleo · 10/09/2013 18:28

It is crazy hazel. What was funny was he had to come an ask if I was talking to him 10 mins later as he needed me for something else. What a joke!!

Alexandra6 · 10/09/2013 20:15

That toy box is great cavort! And totally agree Elodie has gorgeous eyes, she's so cute!

I'm really sorry because I know we've covered this before but I just can't remember - did everyone have the whooping cough vaccine here? I'm 99% sure I'm going to have it as obviously the alternative risk is awful, but I did read a recent thread about it and how new it is and untested. I just remember that awful drug in the 60s or 70s which caused fertility probs in babies when they were older but it wasn't proven until years later! Did anyone not have it?

mother just to join in on the boss-bashing, we're moving offices soon and need to pack up and chuck out LOADS of stuff and my boss said to me yesterday we should do it soon while I'm still "feeling strong" - as if I'm up for doing heavy lifting and bending in my third trimester! I've never felt less strong! Then, one of my colleagues is starting mat leave tomorrow and we were signing her card, and my boss said she might as well write she can't wait to see the baby because "she's just the sort of person to bring her baby into the office to be made a fuss of"! I made a mental note not to bother bringing my baby in for a visit! Wink

Oh and most importantly, huge congrats merk and minimerk!!

BelissimaLol · 10/09/2013 20:28

Yes Alex I had it. It was a no brainier for me tbh x

Alexandra6 · 10/09/2013 20:31

Thanks lol even though that thread freaked me out a bit, I think I'm still going to have it.
