Thought I'd start a new one..

But will make sure no-one's left on the old one.

Hope everyone is blooming and not too hot!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Swizzler · 27/07/2006 15:46

I could manage the evening of the 21st, or lunch if it was reasonably central (trying not to venture out of air con at lunchtime, though!). Gemmitygem: are you back in the UK by then?

Gingeme: your poor ds with chickenpox. I had it at age 17 which was not fun. It's definitely much worse if you're older.

Whiffy: glad the new nanny looks like she's settling in. Have your doctor's decided on your due date yet?

Emmy: also feel like I've been hit over the head with a brick. Would be sleeping all the time if I a)wasn't working and b) could get cool at night . Also, though I'm happy that my LO is pretty active I'd prefer not to be woken at 4 every morning with some massive kicks!

catgirl · 27/07/2006 16:01

gingeme - - sorry didn't realise you had been through the pox twice before! Blaming the pg brain for forgetting the fact that you have other children! Will go an teach my granma how to suck eggs now!

would love to meet up again, but will wait to see what date is fixed, as we are away for two weeks in August.

majormoo · 27/07/2006 16:22

21st aug should be ok for me as long DH can work from home and look after DD in evening. T

Gingeme · 27/07/2006 16:50

He he thats ok catgirl. Because their is quite abig age gap between my first two ds's and these two it feels like Im strating all over again though. He seems pretty ok today though. Got loads of spots on his torso and behing his ears. Only a few on his arms and none as yet on his legs.Jst have to tae aeach day and see how he goes.

Swizzler · 28/07/2006 09:45

It's cooled down! Managed to get a reasonable sleep last night and it's supposed to get cooler from now on. Such a relief (until it heats up again). Am ignoring all the scary stories about another heatwave in August.

Can anyone remember when you're supposed to start antenatal classes? I'm going to the NHS ones which you don't have to book, but I need to get some dates out of the midwives before they start. Catgirl: are you going to any of the Hackney ones this time round?

Gingeme: glad to hear your ds is getting along OK. Hope you have a chance to rest as well.

marthahm · 28/07/2006 10:05

haven't posted in ages as have been completely knocked out by the heat. what a relief last night was better, i agree swizzler, just have to ignore the august threat.
hope you're doing better after the osteopathy whiffy.
my brain has gone into nesting overdrive. most peculiar, have taken up knitting, and am v slowly constructing a baby hat for the offspring. only problem is that i have to keep going back to the knitting shop to get them to sort my mistakes out. by the time it's finished i probably could have bought about 50 for the petrol money its cost.
still having heated discussions over girls names. i don't know about the rest of you, but i feel like i have put in the majority of the effort to produce the baby so i should get to decide the name.-obviously not a well received idea with dh.
question for the pros-are baby gros with feet the same as sleepsuits?

catgirl · 28/07/2006 10:54

swizzler - good point re NHS classes - my next midwife appt at hospital is at 34 weeks - 21 Sept - must find out before then - I think I will only do those this time to take a look at the wards - think they might have changed since last time! There was a fab one off class (couple of hours one evening) run by a Jessica James in N16, which involved partners and dh got a lot out of it - will see if she still runs them. They were more to do with labour and delivery and how partners could help, positions etc - worth it.

My brain keeps telling me to nest, and I look round my house and think I must sort stuff out, but have limited energy - maybe now the weather has cooled. Also we have not been at home for a weekend for about 3 weeks, and our next weekend at home is the bank holiday, so time is a factor too I guess.

wuzzlefraggle · 28/07/2006 11:22

hi ladies, hope that every1's ok

nothing much to report here (except that BandQ are gonna get a bolocking off me and dh today coz they didnt turn up with the last bit of our kitchen order yesturday, which happened to be the appliances, and this is not on...bear in mind now that we paid for the kitchen on 15th of april and that they are saying that they havnt got any of the appliances in stock..the store we bought from is going to have a day of it today when dh gets home coz we will be paying the manager a visit and we aint leavng till we get our own way) needless to say, im furious

but anyways, lol.

MrsBlobby · 28/07/2006 11:42

Good advice about the babygros - 0-3 months seems to be in order - and lots of them! LOL, Nice&2 about the baby squeezed in like a banana!

Swizzler - I think the antenatal classes start at around 34 weeks? I guess it also depends on when your local ones are being run...

Last night we had a work summer party on a boat along the Thames. We travelled all the way from St Katherine's Dock to Greenwich and back to Embankment. Was having such a good time I stood for the whole 4 hours and was then up most of the night with the most painful feet!!!!! - that'll teach me for not taking care!

On, and Aug 21 is fine for me! Looking forward to it

Swizzler · 28/07/2006 12:44

Wuzzle: definitely yell at them. If they've taken your order, they should make sure they can fulfil it!

Marthahm: I'm what is known as a 'good plain knitter' so could try and help if you get stuck again. Which reminds me, I must get back to the little jumper I started in June. Good thing about baby clothes is that they don't take too much time - the last big thing I made was a jumper for OH and that took me nearly 2 years. Have also knitted a baby hat that looks like a stripy condom

Catgirl: resting is far more inmportant if you have the time!

Wishing everyone rain and a nice cool weekend.

Gingeme · 28/07/2006 12:52

Yes Martham babygros with feet are the same as sleepsuits. Thankyou Swizzler. Hes much more himself today and eating like theres no tomm. Making up for the few days he didnt each much. Hes got mega spots today. Benn naked most of the day because his nappy area is realy covered bless him. Ive been giving him Piriton medicine which seems to be doing the trick as far as keeping the scratching at bay though I did catch him scratching his head earlier.Poor you wuzzle. My sister had so much trouble with them and her kitchen. They delivered all the stuff in dribs and drabs then they delivered two sinks and no carousel cupboard thingy. Wouldnt mind but shes only got a tiny kitchen. She got it all in the end though and it does look lovely. Hope yours gets sorted soon. Were off to get some wooden flooring for my boys room this afternoon. Cant wait to get it started.

catgirl · 28/07/2006 15:31

I was just typing out a really long moan about not being able to get my 30 week appointment at my GP, and it got so 'I said, she said' that I confused (and bored) myself! So won't! Guess it doesn't really matter if hospital or GP do 30 week appointment - does it really matter if I miss one?? Probably more to me than to them I guess. Am wittering now aren't I?!

Do you know, I went outside at lunch time and it is STILL HOT - that is the problem.

Wishing you lovely blooming ladies, a cool and restful weekend!

nowanearlyNicemum · 29/07/2006 13:02

hi all,
haven't posted in weeks but have been lurking and reading about your holidays, weddings, appointments and sweaty nights all the same. had two lovely weeks holiday early July in the UK at my parents place where I really had a chance to relax and mum took dd off my hands at every possible opportunity. since then it's been back to the sweltering heat of the south of France and sticking to everything, slurping lots and lots of cold drinks and despairing at dd. She seems to have suddenly hit the terrible twos and is driving me and dp absolutely barmy. She's not really any naughtier than usual it's just that the smallest frustration seems to send her into a massive rage and it's all very trying indeed. On top of that she's having a real mummy-moment where she's constantly stuck to me and isn't paying dp any attention at all. He's not dealing with it very well despite my constant reminders that he is supposed to be the adult in this situation. So with dd permanently glued to my side it's like having a hot water bottle inside and out. The bump by the way, seems to be doing fine.
Bet you're glad I haven't posted in a while, eh???!! Glad to hear that all is going well with you all anyway - and welcome to the newbies. There must be heaps of us now

Gingeme · 30/07/2006 18:50

Good afternoon ladies. Just to wish you all a good week next week. Im off to my parents down in Kent from tomm. Looking forward to the rest and change of scenery. Take care all. Cant wait to read through this thread when I get back. TTFN xx

twinkle183 · 31/07/2006 10:19

Just thought I would let all you lovely ladies know that I have just a positive BFP!!! Am really chuffed as had to have ERPC in March 06... I was originally on this thread but am happy to be on the April 07 thread!! Just hope this ones okay...??

Thought that I would pop in and wish everyone good luck and that its not long to go now....

Take care

Justers · 31/07/2006 11:46

Congratulations twinkle that's wonderful news. Hope everything goes well for you. X

marthahm · 31/07/2006 13:06

well done twinkle, that's lovely news

nowanearlyNicemum · 31/07/2006 13:16

fab news twinkle - thanks for letting us know

DogMum · 31/07/2006 16:32

Congratulations Twinkle. Hope you enjoy your pregnancy.

Welcome back Marthahm. Knitting is an excellent idea. (Wrap your baby in mummy's love.) I've only done a few bits for my lo, but I'm planning to get a bit more of a move on now. I'm doing mostly stuff in the second size as I don't know how big the baby will be. If we meet on the 21st, feel free to bring your knitting problems along - I've been knitting for at least 35 yrs now so am quite experienced.

Re: antenatal classes. Our NHS classes start tomorrow. Like Catgirl, I wanted to do them to have a look round the hospital and get a feel for the sort of care to expect and attitudes to interventions etc. We've got NCT classes booked as well and dp is coming to both. He's being v. supportive, but I worry about how knowledgeable he isn't. Reading a pregnancy book the other week, he thought I wasn't doing my pelvic floor exercises because he hadn't seen me!

catgirl · 31/07/2006 16:44

dogmum - you have just made my day re the pelvic floor exercises! oh bless!

Can't make 21st - now have my 30 week appt at 6pm that night - enjoy and if anyone fancies lunch in London in October let me know.

congratulations Twinkle!

wuzzlefraggle · 01/08/2006 08:29

twinkle, thats fantastic news!! heres wishing you a healthy and happy pregnancy!! xoxox

welcome back marthahm

well, i cant knit, but i have just completed a cross stitch picture to go on the babys wall

just to update you all on what happened with B and Q...dh went barmy at them, and got us a better appliances pack at B and Q's expense...only bad thing is that we dont get it untill the 15th september...horribly close to baby time, but they (apparently) will keep trying to bring the delivery date forward for us.

anyways, hope that every1 is doing well...we are all starting to enter the third trimester now

whiffy · 01/08/2006 11:04

Well done Twinkle. Fingers crossed it all goes well this time.

Nothing to report, am fat and hot and feasting on all the mini cornetto's that I had intended to give to DS as potty rewards (but feel entitled to do this as he is resolutely refusing to play ball and is instead weeing all over the house).

More or less finished at work now though am coming in the odd day or two (ie any day that co-incides with hair/waxing/osteo appointments). Had three people tell me this weekend that I look as if the baby has dropped, which has put fear of god into me. Off to Midwife Wednesday for reassurance that am not about to break water all over office. Still have 8 weeks to go by dates, but am getting slightly concerned with all the indications... Best bring forward that waxing appointment just in case...damned if I'm going to let some student nurse near me with a bic in the event of a CS...

Swizzler · 02/08/2006 10:12

Whiffy: lets hope your LO hangs on for a while and you enjoy your time off first! My family sem v concerned that I'm only finishing 3 weeks before I'm due - if the baby turns up early they'll enjoy being right, I s'pose.

Wuzzle: glad you got the kitchen (more or less) sorted. Hope B&Q come up with the rest of the stuff early.

Twinkle: congratulations and hope all goes well.

Feeling much better now it's cooler - even managing to do a fair amount of walking. My parents are down for a few days, but back in the office today (thank goodness). Noone has complained about their knees/feeling tired/needing a cup of tea for hours...

Oh, and we now have a mouse in the flat. OH sorting it out with traps etc. but parents felt the need to point out that we couldn't have rats with my baby (OH obviously v keen on feeding his offpring to any passing rodents). Grrr. Considering career as a diplomat by the time they go. Have at least managed to convince Mum that she couldn't come and stay (in a tiny 1-bed flat) when the baby arrives and Dad now keen on a day trip with brief visit. Phew.

Any ideas on where to meet on the 21st? Catgirl: not sure about heading into central London after I finish work (on the 20th Sep) but what about lunch/coffee in N London?

nowanearlyNicemum · 02/08/2006 13:41

whiffy, hat's off to you for doing the potty training thing at the moment - I really wouldn't have the energy. how old is your ds?

all you crafty ladies are making me want to get knitting/cross-stitching. have some half-finished attempts that I started when I was expecting dd 2 years ago

nowanearlyNicemum · 02/08/2006 14:19

FYI just noticed that twinkle posted on our old thread today to say:

"I don't whether you guys know but Piffle has just popped in to my thread to say shes due March 07 how great is that!!!
Hope everyone is doing well...."

Isn't that fab news!!?
