So I used the magic 1000th post in the last thread... ooops Grin

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
sunflowered · 13/09/2013 17:41

Congratulations milk Smile

I can't remember who asked but I'm not sure whether what I'm feeling is movement or sluggish digestion. Though it did kick the doppler at mw appt and was moving all.over the shop while she tried to hear the hearbeat. It was really wriggly at the scan too so think I'm in for an uncomfortable few months if it keeps this up!

sunflowered · 13/09/2013 17:41

And congratulations on the dissertation jazz Smile

Poppy954 · 13/09/2013 17:46

Congratulations milk. Is this your first can't remember from previous posts?

I'm so jealous of all the nesting instincts. I'm the opposite, so tired to the extent I rang the mw today to ask if I cam have my bloods taken again. Last had them done at 8+3 when my hb was 11.3 now 18+0 and I know it's dropped lower. She was a bit obstructive said 'it is normal to feel tired in pregnancy you know' I said 'yes i know this is my third baby but I wouldn't expect to feel this tired in the second trimester'. She then said 'eat a healthy diet including lots of red meat and chocolate'. !!! I told her I'm vegetarian so she said eat loads of green leaves. I said it's easier said than done when I'm at work full time. She then latched onto that and said it's because I work full time and I've got two other children. I pointed out that they are 14 and 8 so hardly running me ragged. Eventually she conceded that I should see my own mw on weds and ask to have my bloods taken. Bet she'll be strict and not do anything else like listen to the hb seeing as I've sneaked an extra appointment.

Well done jazz.

Poppy954 · 13/09/2013 17:57

Missk tesco have loads of comfortable looking boots online.

Also - sorry to keep being a drama queen but does anyone else experience sudden blood sugar drops once or twice a day? They are truly horrible. I go from feeling fine to almost fainting / shaking ( can't quite describe it) in minutes. It happens if I don't eat every two hours.

pettyprudence · 13/09/2013 18:08

poppy I was getting the very sudden blood pressure drops too but either they have subsided or I am eating better/regularly...

vix206 · 13/09/2013 18:22

Poppy - yes I had these up until 19 weeks. They have gone now though.

Milkandtwo · 13/09/2013 18:48

tiny was convinced it must be a girl as every one of my friends has boys so it seemed about time for a girl! poppy it is indeed my first...
misskat I add scholl heel insoles (from boots) to all my shoes and boots - they just give a tiny lift and bit of cushioning/spring that makes quite a difference when you're stood for long periods. (I find 100% flat, like ballet flats) quite painful after a while...
Aldo do comfy boots. DM's, once worn in are the most comfy shoes ever (perhaps after legitimate-outdoor-slippers aka Ugg boots) I've never quite got over my teenage longing for 19 hole cherry reds with rainbow stitching. One day.

SugarMiceInTheRain · 13/09/2013 19:08

Milk congratulations! I guess we should make a list of team blue/pink/yellow as I am completely losing track, then we could C&P as we have our scans...

Quite surprised at how many people have had to send in their own exemption forms. The guy on the phone said the MW normally sends it in after the first appointment or first scan Confused, once there is confirmation of pregnancy. sunflowered I am on the whole so grateful for the NHS and think it's a wonderful thing. Just getting unnecessarily wound up about what is actually only a minor inconvenience. Anyway, got form, filled it in there and then and handed it straight back to GP receptionist, so hopefully that'll get sent early next week. Fingers crossed. I'm in dire need of a dental check up. It's been a couple of years Blush

SugarMiceInTheRain · 13/09/2013 19:17

DMs are fantastic by the way. If you're in or within easy driving distance of Northants, try the DM factory outlet in Wollaston. Boots which retail at £100 for £35!! I bought myself 2 pairs Grin I'm finding at the moment I prefer something with a slight wedge - finding ballet flats for example uncomfortable - need more of a sole. Boots work well, but I have some slip on shoes which graduate from flat at the front to 1.5 inch heel and find them very comfy.

vix206 · 13/09/2013 19:19

I'm 10 miles away from there sugarmice. Another amazing local factory shop is the Eveden one which is just 2 miles from me in Desborough. Fantasie and Freya bras for a fraction of the cost with expert bra fitters Grin

misskatamari · 13/09/2013 19:51

Ooooh thanks ladies! I will definitely get some of the scholl heel things! I've been wearing my biker boots for the last couple of days which has helped a bit but I want some lovely comfy soled boots so I'm very tempted by some DMs. I can't wear ballet flats at all any more as they just kill my lower back and I end up in agony Hmm sensible shoes all the way for me! Will look into how far away the outlet shops are (as I also need new bras!) although I haven't heard of them so probably a million miles away.

Ikea trip done too and I now have loads of boxes so hopefully will tidy this weekend, along with lots of resting! Smile

marzipanned · 13/09/2013 19:53

Lovely news milk, congrats!

So far I can think of two team pink and two team blue but I'm sure I'm forgetting people...

I haven't bothered sending in my exemption form as prescriptions are free here in Scotland anyway. Must say that my experience of the NHS up here has been so much better to that south of the border, but I think the per head spend is quite a bit higher up here so shouldn't really be surprised...

DawnOfTheDee · 13/09/2013 19:58

Fab news milk - glad the scan went well and congrats!

vix206 · 13/09/2013 19:59

I updated my entry last week on the Facebook list to show team pink Smile

vix206 · 13/09/2013 19:59

Congrats milk by the way. Boys are just brilliant Grin

jazzcat28 · 13/09/2013 20:39

Thanks all! Am dead chuffed the uni work is now complete, I'm having a weekend of catching up with DH and friends and then the nesting commences!

milk congrats on your successful scan and yay for team blue!

I'm still team yellow but feel more and more tomboyish in myself every day (spent today in DH's hoodie) so much so I think I'm also team blue. Still gonna hang on for the surprise though.

Didn't have sponge pud in the end but a fish finger sandwich instead. Heaven!

OP posts:
LittlePandaBear · 13/09/2013 20:56

Just adding my congrats for Jazz on uni work done and Milk for finding out that you're team blue! It must make it fell more real to know which gender you're having. Can't wait for my turn in two weeks.

I had a sober work night out last night, supplier buying £80 bottles of champagne and I'm there with a non alcoholic cocktail - not the same! And I had to take the drunk girl back to the hotel in the taxi since I was the sober one! The drunk girl used to be me! Wink Wine

Having a nice quiet weekend though where I'm actuallly going to sort out loads cupboards for things to throw instead of just talking about it like I've been doing for the past month. Nesting instinct is kicking in!

Somanychanges · 13/09/2013 21:38

Well done jazz bet that's a huge relief.

Milk great news that the scan was all good and your exciting news.

Poppy can you not just make a doctors appointment for the blood test. My doctors have been much more helpful than the midwifes. Hope you feel less tired soon, I'm right there with you and it's no fun.

Something funny for you ladies. I was at the hospital seeing consultant on Tuesday. She was asking me about something I can't remember what it was but I said I had not had it during pregnancy as I had gone off it (must of been coffee or something) then my 6 year old son comes out with
"But she hasn't gone off alcohol, she drinks that all the time while she is pregnant." Shock

I don't even drink that much when not pregnant I'm lucky if I have 1 glass of wine every few months. And I certainly have not had a single drink whilst pregnant while I've been spewing my guts up for the last four months.

She just laughed along with me hopefully she realised my son was just being silly. But what a weird thing to say the little monkey.

jazzcat28 · 13/09/2013 22:00

Just woke up in a sweat realised I forgot to sign the bloody hard copy dissertation before I handed it in. Am gonna have to hope that's not an immediate fail and beg for forgiveness on monday afternoon which is the earliest I can get there again (1hr drive away and I have a meeting at work first thing)

Bloody baby brain!

OP posts:
CalloohCallay · 13/09/2013 23:55

Just posting to moan - had day from hell as discovered I was bleeding while at work this morning. Been into hospital and all checked out, baby fine but doctors not sure what's causing it. Is it too much to ask for a non-eventful pregnancy? [rant over] Angry

Sassy20 · 14/09/2013 07:04

Callooah - I had bleeding a couple of weeks ago. It's so scary but I was told the same that it happens quite a lot and that baby was fine. Hope you're ok. X

Thingymajigs · 14/09/2013 07:45

Same thing happened to me, its so scary and impossible not to worry about despite everyone telling you its ok. If it helps though I had unexplained bleeding for two weeks at 14-16 weeks and again after sex at 18 weeks. Hospital wouldn't check me but baby is currently doing somersaults so I'm assuming everything is ok. Smile

EeyoreIsh · 14/09/2013 08:05

oh callooh how scary. The same thing happened to me, it was utterly terrifying but seemed to have done baby no harm. I hope you don't get any more bleeding.

misskatamari · 14/09/2013 08:09

Callooh, I'm glad everything's okay. It must be so scary and worrying.

Oooh I've just joined a fb group for local mums my friend at work recommended and it seems really good for telling you about what's on in your area. There's also one for buying/selling baby stuff too so good for bargains. I think most areas have them (and they are closed groups usually so thins don't show up in your news feed). I've no clue about baby things around here as a first timer so hopefully it should prove quite useful.

Oooh got a craft show today so hopefully I will find some nice wool - and not spend too much money on things I won't have time to make!

Also I have apples and bananas that need eating - so am hoping to make apple pie and banana cake but of current form is anything to go by I'm not holding my breath Hmm want my baking mojo back! Hope you've all got lovely Saturdays planned (even if they involve not moving from the sofa Grin)

EeyoreIsh · 14/09/2013 08:12

that sounds like a fun day planned katamari. I'm going to finally do things with the blackberries I picked last weekend, jam and those crumble cupcakes Grin

then onto the highlight of the weekend... stripping wood chip wallpaper. Oh joy!

Does anyone else feel like they need to be a bit more active now? I did no exercise yesterday and I'm really itching to go for a run of swim.
