misskat I'm now in tears at the thought i have been missing project runway! What channel is it one? I can't fecking find it....

littlestgirlguide · 08/09/2013 20:05

*ill, not I'll. Bloody iPhone.
17+5 today by the way.

Also, Jazzcat, my sympathies - my DH does the silent treatment row very very well. It's awful. Sometimes I wish he would just throw something and yell and clear the air. It's all stress, for both of you. Not long now and the dissertation will be finished with and the redundancy consultation over and even if that's bad news at least you will know and be able to plan for the future.
In my experience (having never suffered from anything more than very mild nausea in pregnancy!) we are amazing when we have a child to care for. Everything has a reward - spending all night awake with a crying baby is rewarded with sleep in the end, and you can get through because you know you will get that reward - a smile, a sleeping baby, that burst of pride when they do something new, these things will pull you through the early sleepless nights. It is all SO worth it :-)

misskatamari · 08/09/2013 20:10

Littlest - I'd say if the reviews are good for it then it's a good deal Smile I've got the angels sounds 20 quid one which I've had no problems with tho if you did want to spend a bit less.

Dawn - alas DH has downloaded it from America. I love it so much! Had never watched it and made DH download all of them last year and now I'm up to date and watching the new one. I love Tim Gunn! I found out today there's gonna be a new all stars series too which I'm so excited about! Grin

jazzcat28 · 08/09/2013 20:10

Thanks guys, reading your kind words just tipped me over the edge and released full on preggo tears! We are kinda speaking again after DH decided to break the silence but the end isn't in sight for him. My deadline is Friday so once that's done I can chill more

evening all

sorry to hear some of you are still feeling/being sick. It must be so exhausting.

I've had a busy weekend and I'm tucked up in bed already. I spent most of yesterday cleaning the house... the nesting urge has come early Grin then we went blackberry picking, followed by dinner with my SIL. Then today I spent time at a zoo with my nephew and SIL. It was great fun, we see our nephew infrequently do it was lovely to spend time with him.

I'm 19 weeks today and bump is still pretty small and no movements. I'm starting to worry, I'd like the reassurance of movement.

I hope we all have amazing night's sleeps! zzZ Grin

DawnOfTheDee · 08/09/2013 20:39

I love the zoo EeyoreIsh! Sounds like you've had a lovely weekend Smile

Don't worry too much about the movements - do you know if you have an anterior placenta? I did last time and didn't properly feel movement till after 20 weeks. Everyone's different - I was talking to a friend at work who said she didn't really feel any movement right the way through...think it was just the way she carried, etc.
If you're ever really worried though just phone your mw or hospital and they'll advise/whizz you in a for a check.

laura0007 · 08/09/2013 22:09

Hope you've all had a good weekend. Sorry to hear some of you are still feeling poorly. I've hit a whole new level of tiredness now Confused and with it comes the uncontrollable sobbing! Argh, I thought we were meant to love pregnancy. So far I 80% bloody hate it. It's times like this I wish I had an oh to take it out on!!!!!

Somanychanges · 08/09/2013 22:20

Haha marzi & champagne you will be glad to know I found having a newborn much easier than dealing with HG. Not that having a new born was easy because night feeds when I just didn't know how I could keep my eyes open to feed made me cry. But having HG makes you feel like you are dying at its worst and having a newborn is beautiful. Even though I was tired I was still able to get out of the house meet friends go to baby groups and go for walks. With HG you end up bed bound. So ladies if you can deal with HG you can easily cope with sleepless nights of a newborn.

I am getting a but worried though about how tired I will be as first time around I could sleep in day when baby slept. Second time around Dd was 21 months when I had DS so she still had a nap in the afternoon. This time around I have a daughter who starts school at 8am and a son who is so very challenging. I do wonder what came over DH and I when we decided to have another one.

jazz sorry about your situation with DH it's really upsetting I bet. Sounds like you are both under a lot of pressure. I hope he comes out of his mood soon and gives you a big hug.

barebranches · 09/09/2013 06:09

aaahhh backache all night Sad i dont think i can deal with this for the next 6 months..... Sad Sad Sad

Thingymajigs · 09/09/2013 06:55

So sorry to hear everyone is having a rough time of it. Hopefully this is just a period of adjustment and we'll all soon be blooming. Or maybe not.
I actually slept last night! Dp folded up a duvet to help separate my legs while I slept which cut down restless leg syndrome issues. After weeks of managing on 2 hours sleep a night I feel amazing today. I now need to apologise to my family for shouting at them yesterday. Blush

Sassy20 · 09/09/2013 07:04

Bare - maybe try and get a referral to a physio who specialises in preg back ache - I think my friend saw one during her pregnancy.

Thingy - glad you had a good night. Let's hope it's the first of many.

Mine was another crappy night. Went to sleep at about 10pm only to wake up at 00.30 and then couldn't get back to sleep till 3 only to wake up again a couple more times. Woke up at 6.45 and now waiting to phone work to say not coming in today and then try and get docs appt when they open at 8. Can't cope on this lack of sleep with dd and work so I'm afraid work is going to have to give for a few days till I feel human again. X

Shropshiremummy2B · 09/09/2013 07:15

Another terrible night here too.... Have such a sore throat which kept waking me up. At 4am I caved and had a couple of swigs of cough medicine. At 5am I woke again and looked at the bottle 'do not take if pregnant or breast feeding'. Needless to say I haven't slept since with worry. My eyes are stinging like buggery. Euuggghhhh.

Sassy20 · 09/09/2013 07:39

Shropshire - I wouldn't worry too much if its just a couple of swigs of it. I think it's more if you had a load of it and also more in the first trimester. I'm sure you're not the first person to do it. Hope your throat is better soon - lots of hot water, honey and lemon. X

vix206 · 09/09/2013 08:17

I had backache + leg cramps all night too. It's no fun but you do get accustomed to having less sleep in the end. Wink I think it's mother natures way of easing you in to the newborn no sleep madness!

pettyprudence · 09/09/2013 08:26

im joining in with the back/bum pain. I had it last pg too and just like now it started at 16wks. I was hoping I wouldnt get it this time but apparently it gets worse with each pg Shock I am definitely going to mention it to the mw this time though (I paid for a lot of chiropractic sessions last time which didnt work).
I had a pg massage last time and it was AMAZING and really eased the pain. shame I was 36w before I discovered this! in that spirit I made dh massage my bum last night and it did help a bit Grin im going to see if I can book in some more for this pg.

somany thank you for the reassurance. It does sound like it's going to be tough for you when little one arrives, but you will make it work - Mums always do, right? Are you close enough with either your or DH's Mum (or another family member) that they could come and stay for the first couple of months to help you with things like school run, nappies, etc?

shropshire worry not, the medicine prescribed for my HG has 'do not take while pregnant or breastfeeding' on it

marzipanned · 09/09/2013 10:20

champagne I had awful cramping after Saturday night's sickness bout, it's gone now but I was up a lot last night with nausea. I'm insisting on having the window open but it is now REALLY cold here at night (bliss!) so every time I grabbed the sick bucket I had to try to maneuver between DH curled up as tightly as poss and the cat - oh the joys of cold air though, was thinking back on the dreadfulness of July and this is sooo much better.

vix206 · 09/09/2013 10:39

I paid a fortune on a chiropractor last time for the back/bum/leg pain. Did nothing. Massage definitely the way to go.

My therapist gave me a tip for sciatic pain. Get a tennis ball and sit on it or put it between you and a wall and roll it around the point where the pain comes from. It's a tough place to reach but I've found it really helpful.

winterflowers · 09/09/2013 11:36

I hear you laura am exactly the same. When I feel really low I try and force myself out of the house for a bit else I think I'd be surgically attached to tissues and my bed. But it's getting harder now that walking is so painful.

My dr referred me to a physio for the back/hip pain but otherwise was pretty useless, think she said 'unfortunately for you it'll only get worse' l. Nice and reassuring! So maybe will try and find a pregnancy massage, feel like we should be able to treat ourselves after everything we've been thru.

Shropshire don't worry abt the cough meds, like everyone said it's not like you were downing it. They give so much advice to be on the safe side these days.

And marzi such a good point abt the colder weather being nicer... do think we are looking lucky in some ways with winter babies and don't have to be humongous in the heat :)

SugarMiceInTheRain · 09/09/2013 12:35

Hello all! Just checking in. Sorry to hear about all the hip/ back pain some of you are suffering from. I've had more than my fair share of that and am dreading the (inevitable for me) onset of SPD in this pregnancy - with DS1, I couldn't walk with it, only shuffle. :-(

Having thought my sickness was over, I was very sick last night - though more due to my sensitive gag reflex which has gone into overdrive due to pregnancy. Tried to take paracetamol for a cracking headache and ended up being more sick than I've been in a couple of weeks. Urgh.

I appear to be having some kind of early nesting instinct - Saturday before I had to work I sorted out all the boys' clothes (even with DH helping this took 3 hours) - cleared out the wardrobe in what will be the nursery. Chucked out 2 bin bags of clothes for textile recycling, 2 bags into the loft, and one to a friend's son. Today I have decluttered and deep cleaned my bathroom - nearly a whole bin bag of rubbish/ half used lotions and potions/ mouldy bath toys have been chucked. Oh the shame Blush It took nearly 3 hours to declutter and clean the bathroom - how is that even possible? It's the smallest room in the house!! Am knackered now and have just rewarded myself with a nutella hot chocolate Grin I am itching to get on to the next declutter and clean project (believe me I have a long list!) but I'm too tired. Grrrr.

Shropshiremummy2B · 09/09/2013 12:36

Thank you guys for your words of reassurance.

I feel so bad coming here to complain when apart from a sore throat I have nothing to complain about. I read all your posts thinking 'what the hell have I done right in life to deserve such a lovely pregnancy?'! I know I sound super smug, so apologies, but I keep thinking it was so easy to conceive, I feel fantastic, something must be about to go wrong.

littlestgirlguide · 09/09/2013 12:45

Shropshire stop worrying!
They are so strict about meds these days, it's not like you had a whole bottle or anything.

I spent the morning today feeling horrifically sick, Boston through my interviews at work, till I realised that it was my non-maternity tights making me feel ill! So I popped out to buy some maternity ones in mothercare and now I feel loads better.
