Shropshire - don't worry about it, just enjoy it for the rest of us! Smile

bugsyburge · 09/09/2013 14:26

hi ladies,

I haven't been on all weekend so will catch up tonight but just wanted to ask a quick question.....

this weekend I was decorating for about 4hours.... we both used emulsion & then I did the glossing. I've just looked online & I'm now worrying about my exposure to gloss paint.....am I over-reacting?

please help!!!

EeyoreIsh · 09/09/2013 14:48

Don't worry bugsy, ideally you wouldn't use gloss paint but one day of exposure isn't too bad. I assume you kept the room well ventilated? If you're going to do more painting, try using satin finish gloss with low voc. That's what I'm making DH use!

I'm trying to have a quick nap as I'm so tired but indigestion keeping me awake. And now I have to get back to work Angry

pettyprudence · 09/09/2013 15:07

Shropshire dont worry about medicines. my bff is a hospital pharmacist and she said it says not suitable for pg/bf on everything due to ethical grounds. my dr gave me some anti sickness pills post pg but said I would have to give up bf, when I checked them with my friend it turns out that they are also given to women to increase breast milk supply Grin Shock

off to Google pregnancy massage now as the place I had it before has closed down Sad

Milkandtwo · 09/09/2013 15:33

hang on... NUTELLA hot chocolate?!!! Where? HOW? Sugarmice please tell me now!

bugsy I've been glossing away for days - that doesn't mean it's ideal mind, but I've not been worrying unduly about it. But then I've also been up a ladder stripping wallpaper, lugging furniture about, taking bags and boxes up a loft ladder etc. Not very good at being pregnant generally! I'd dearly love to put my feet up but then sod all would ever get done around here. (which was actually the catalyst for a big row this morning that saw me on a wet park bench at 8am crying like a maniac in front of droves of commuters. For shame.)

Sassy20 · 09/09/2013 15:39

Been to the docs and has signed me off work for two weeks. I just feel immense relief that I now only have to cope with looking after dd and growing a baby whilst getting very little sleep. X

laura0007 · 09/09/2013 15:57

I LOVE Nutella!!! Tell me also where is it from?!?!?Shock

jazzcat28 · 09/09/2013 16:00

Second the Nutella hot choc!

Also saw a 1 cup choc cake recipe mentioned on another MN thread which can make a choc cake in a mug in the microwave:

4tbsp self raising flour
4tbsp sugar
2tbsp cocoa
1 egg
3tbsp milk
3tbsp oil
3tbsp choc chips (optional)
Splash vanilla extract

  1. Mix dry ingredients in a large mug. Add egg and mix well.
  2. Pour in milk and oil and mix well. Add choc chips (if using) and vanilla extract and mix again.
  3. Put mug in microwave, cook for 3mins at high/1000w. The cake will rise over the top of the mug but don't worry! Allow to cool a little before turning onto a plate.

NB: the recipe should serve 2 people!

I have yet to try it but it was entitled 'the most dangerous cake recipe in the world' as it allows people to be 5 mins away from chocolate cake at all times!!!

Am gonna give it a whirl tonight...

Oh jazzcat that sounds amazing! You have to post a picture of it if you?re going to make it. Sounds like it would be heavenly with some cream poured on top too! I am loving the cake and chocolate at the minute, normal healthy food doesn?t really get a look in.

It?s national cupcake week next week and I?ve got the whole office baking cupcakes! I?ve drawn up a rota so there?s not one day we?ll be cupcake-less. Little do they know it?s just so I can indulge my need for cake Grin

Glad you?ve got some time off work to recover Sassy

Bit of a quiet weekend for us, sorting out our junk ready for the move in a couple of weeks. I did manage to bake a batch of cookies and a cake though to keep me going through the week Grin but nothing as glamorous as the amazing cakes on the fb group! I am very impressed with those!

Another one who is loving the cool nights. Last night was the first night in a long time where I?ve actually snuggled into my duvet and didn?t throw it off once. Bliss.

Totally agree that this summer has been grim and I?m glad to see the back of it. I have too many associations of sickness, smells, bad experiences etc. Summer 2013 is going down as one of my worst in history! Now I can?t wait for snugly clothes, woolly socks, hot choc, warm pj?s and stodgy dinners (and xmas of course ? no more work!).

I?m feeling huge today. My belly button hurts and I?m wearing a new jumper which makes me look even bigger. Apparently it?s a maternity top but I can?t see where the bump?s going to go! The front is actually shorter than the back Confused maybe I?ve got it on the wrong way round Hmm

I think I?ve been feeling the bean doing summersaults, but not sure. Looking forward to getting some proper kicks!

18+6 today (we?re practically half way through ladies!)

Sorry for the epic post Blush

marzipanned · 09/09/2013 16:50

Oh I'm with you tiny, this summer was even worse for me than the summer when my Mum died, which I feel awful saying given that this summer I've been growing my first baby which should be an amazing enough thing to counteract all the grim-ness.

This morning I had two really strong twitches in my lower abdomen - could that be baby moving?! I have no idea. I'm 19 weeks tomorrow so feel like it should be happening now or soon!

laura0007 · 09/09/2013 16:58

Still thinking of Nutella here! Just remembering my breakfast, lunch and tea on holiday in Mallorca of Nutella ice cream! Grin Yum yum

tinypolkadot · 09/09/2013 17:06

Sorry to hear about your mum marzi Flowers I know what you mean about being pregnant being enough to counter-balance the awfulness, I feel bad thinking about how awful the summer has been but hopefully we can enjoy the rest of our pregnancies soon.

I was only ever allowed a dollop of nutella with my ice-cream when I was a kid ? how mean! Now I have it on toast and sometimes just straight out of the jar

misskatamari · 09/09/2013 17:25

Oooh jazzcat that recipe looks fab! I keep wanting to bake but can't be arsed but surely I can manage a microwave quickie cake Smile. National cupcake week too - hopefully I will get my baking mojo back this weekend and make some yummy things for next week! Mmmm maybe red velvet with cream cheese frosting!

Sorry so many people are suffering with no sleep and acheyness. I'm joining the achey club today after being back teaching and being on my feet all day. Got a sore bump cheek and sore shoulders too so am definitely gonna look up pregnancy massage or see if my Physio massage lady and accommodate me now I can't lie on my belly!

God my bottom set class ended up having even more nutters in today - but luckily they weren't too bad. Drug lord even took his earring out so I'm just praying they stay relatively manageable! I'm hoping after I've had my 20 week scan next Monday ill feel more okay about telling people and can use the "be good the baby is sleeping" on them!

Sassy - so glad the doctor has signed you off, the rest will do you the world of good Smile

Right time to cook tea and probably pass out by 9 o'clock!

marzipanned · 09/09/2013 17:36

Aw thanks tiny, it was a long time ago and I just feel sad about it at the moment as she would've been so excited to be a grandma.

But on the topic of Nutella, she used to make us something which I'll definitely be doing for my kids - Nutella sandwiches in the toastie maker. With marshmallows/smarties/other little add-ins if we were particularly lucky. Sooo good.

misskatamari · 09/09/2013 17:44

Sorry to hear you're feeling a bit down marzipanned. I think it's natural to feel that way as you would obviously love to share all this with your mum and have her as a grandma. Her Nutella sandwiches sound absolutely amazing tho! I will definitely be giving those a go Grin

marzipanned · 09/09/2013 17:49

Thanks missk :) Glad your first day back wasn't entirely horrific - love the thought of your very own drug lord, though I'm sure the reality is somewhat less entertaining!

misskatamari · 09/09/2013 17:55

Lol - he's just a bit of a weed fiend - although I think he might have quit now. He was quite hyper today so deffo not stoned lol!

milk I'll be stripping wallpaper next weekend... We won't actually be painting the hallway and other room for two months yet, but I want to do it before the bump gets too large. In one room there's two layers of lining paper over vinyl fake brick wallpaper! I think bare plaster might look better. In the hallway it's woodchip wallpaper on the walls and ceiling. Sigh.

I've got about two kg of blackberries in the fridge but no energy to do anything with them. Any ideas?!

CubanoHabana · 09/09/2013 18:56

Marzipan that Nutella toaster sounds amazing! We lost our toasty maker when we moved and planned to get a new one, as recently I have been craving cheese and ham toastys... Will have to get one now just for the Nutella toastys!

CubanoHabana · 09/09/2013 18:57

My resident drug lord also seemed very good today in lesson... His friend has moved school and hoping he has turned over a new leaf! Can only wait and see!

CubanoHabana · 09/09/2013 18:59

Sorry to hear so many are struggling - but it's kinda reassuring too. I feel so depressed with hormones + bipolar chucked in to the mix, and for some reason my OCD is going utterly mental. It is so tiring, never been this bad, so it's got to be the pregnancy! Convinced 100% of not having more than 2 kids now :P

About the bum/hip pain, I have had that for a few years actually, although it certainly has come back in the last few weeks. Really heavyhanded bum massage helps, as often it can be tight (and I mean really tight) muscles that are causing the pain. I used to go to an amazing physio in Essex, which really helped, but didn't remove the issue - it keeps coming back. Chiro which can help for loads of things doesn't seem to have anything to do with that particular pain to do, so wouldn't go for that. But yes :P deep tissue bum massage all the way!

B You're carrying low. (Little One's heartbeat was found for a brief second right by my pelvic bone today!)

G You've missed the "blooming" period altogether.
G You suffered morning sickness during your first 12 weeks.
? Boobs have not changed size yet
G You look at yourself in the mirror for at least a minute, but your pupils don't dilate.
G You crave sweet things, such as juice, fruit and sweets.
B You combine your age at the time of conception with the number of the month you conceived and the resulting number is even.
B You are more prone to headaches.
G Your skin is soft.
G You are more moody than usual.
G You were the less aggressive partner during love-making when you conceived. (tmi, sorry :p )

So most likely a girl, or dreads a crossgender confused child! Oh dear !
