PseudoBadger · 07/09/2013 12:51

Rox please could you put in my cs date of 7/10? Thanks!

Tarlia I'll certainly have a look around :o

Wickedgirl · 07/09/2013 12:53

Last time (baby 3), I left home when my contractions were 8 minutes apart. I got to hospital (a 20 minute journey) and baby was born 40 minutes later. Trust your instincts. If you are struggling with the pain and/or your waters have gone....... Get yourself checked out!

Nellysgirl · 07/09/2013 13:07

Hi everyone, thanks for the messages. I'm only 36 weeks - due 3rd oct but they are happy for it to go ahead.
Lots of contractions at regular intervals but nothing too agonising yet. Had some v.strong ones at 5 am that had me weeping in the bath but now they are pretty tame and manageable again... Hospital gave me some coedine to get me through but I've already had the full 24 hour dosage so things might get interesting later.
I think this is going to be a looooong start/stop labour. Fine by me, I'm getting little rests here and there. Just praying it doesn't totally stop.
Good luck to everyone else. Ill have a proper catch up on the thread soon. Xx

legallyblond · 07/09/2013 13:43

Nelly - if I were you and you want it to hurry up/ not stop, I would walk walk walk followed by a nice bath, eating plenty along the way....

SeriousStuff · 07/09/2013 13:50

How exciting! Good luck Nelly!

And well done Legally it must be such a great feeling.

Gosh, this is all getting a bit real now isn't it?!

Natalieand · 07/09/2013 14:18

Last time I had been contracting for 14 hours every 3 minutes then midwife came to my house and checked me I was 1cm then 4 hours later I felt I couldn't manage anymore as it has been going on so long and hospital said I was 2cm but my bp was sky high up near the 200's so they put me on medication to bring it down and gave me a pessary to help me dialate as it had gone on so long with little progression which seemed to sort it out and I stayed on the 'early labour' part of the maternity ward until I was 4cm then moved back up too labour ward

diege · 07/09/2013 14:43

Good luck nelly Smile
Badger you are a very bad influence Wink. I am thinking of ways to try and justify spending over £100 on that gorgeous panda print winter coat for ds2 Shock
Hi caz! What ages are your dcs etc? Have you had enough of the The Comments yet? Grin
I know I am a newbie on this thread and that I would usually ease my way in with a slightly less direct TMI question, but I am at my wit's end Sad. I can hardly move and all because of a bastard pile. Anusol just isn't cutting it (literaly). I have a very strong cream but it gives me a blinding headache. Anything else anyone can recommend? It seems to have taken on 'edges' now and refuses to be pushed 'back in' Blush With that and the thrush I am not a nice person to know at the moment!

FeministInTraining · 07/09/2013 14:50

Exciting Nelly now that I'm on maternity leave I will be keeping up with the live birth updates! Eeeek there will be lots in the next few weeks!

Forgot to say earlier- thanks to reading about your MW experiences here and now I'm not at work I decided I didn't want the rest of my appointments at the hospital. I've seen one of the midwives twice and the rest have been one offs. It always seems really busy and impersonal and I feel like I'm on a conveyor belt. So I called my GP surgery and have my next MW appointment with Sue. No idea what she's like but I felt so much better just being given a name. So fx she's nice, I may even do the 20min waddle walk to the surgery rather than driving or getting the bus if I'm in a good mood Grin

FeministInTraining · 07/09/2013 14:53

X post diege sorry I have no words of wisdom but sorry you're feeling rubbish. I have had a pile (now a pile and a half I think!) for a while but it's not painful yet so I'm interested to see any good remedies.

roofio87 · 07/09/2013 15:04

whoever said further up the thread about feeling nauseous again like in the beginnig, me too!! constantly feeling a bit sick again here too!!

Iheartcrunchiebars · 07/09/2013 15:10

Good luck Nelly! I'm going to be glued to mumsnet now. Can't wait to hear what happens.

(Thought I was in labour at 4am last night, it wasn't, I think it was wind #shamefaced)

textbook · 07/09/2013 15:37

Oooh Rox can you change my date to 24/09 and highlight please Grin

OrangeBlossom2 · 07/09/2013 15:39

Hehe crunchie! Oh dear!

Good luck nelly! Hope you get to meet your baby soon! 36 and a bit weeks sounds ok. Do they still give steroids for lungs at that stage or is that only up to 35ish weeks?

Sorry no advice other than anusol but perhaps go to your gp for something stronger?

HeffalumpTheFlump · 07/09/2013 15:42

nelly how exciting!! Good luck!! Sorry I'm new to the thread, is this dc1?

roofio yep sickness is back here too. Especially if I eat anything too sweet. Confused

diege sorry to hear you are suffering :( sorry no advice, just lots of sympathy.

pinkbuttons · 07/09/2013 16:21

ooh hope things are progressing for you nelly although glaf your getting some rest. glad to hear theyre happy after 36 weeks.
Sorry diege no further advice but am sending you sympathy because am having the same problem minus the thrush. would definitely suggest seeing the GP for both if the standard remedies arent working?

thankyou tarlia I think it has knocked some sense into him. Turns out my surprise haircut was booked in for just before my surprise luxury facial Grin just lovely and now have hair ready for baby and just feeling generally relaxed. Hope everyones had a lovely day.

Does the fact we havent heard from you this afternoon mean your baby shower was today after all nat?? Grin

Tarlia · 07/09/2013 16:35

nelly how exciting, wishing you lots of luck! Def keep on the move and don't forget to eat, drink and sleep.

p-buttons a surprise facial!? Envy I wish my DP was that thoughtful.

diege sympathies, I have externals too :(. Sounds weird and a bit embarrassing to share, but in the shower running hot water over the area for 5 or so mins takes the kick out. I've heard you can alternate with ice packs too but not yet had to try this, as although still there they don't hurt at the mo.Never had any until after labour last time, now apparently I'm prone - joy!

crunchie sounds nasty :(

PseudoBadger · 07/09/2013 17:05

Buy it diege buy it!!!
Are you using Anusol suppositories? I've been surprised how well they've worked for me (and were great for my fissure last time too...)

Haylebop12 · 07/09/2013 17:05

Eeek nelly keep us updated!

Piles sound awful... I've never experienced them and tbh don't wish to!

With dd I had a show at 1am, by 3am I was contracting every 4-5 mins. Went in by 5am and was 4cm. They said they probably would have sent me home but as the weather was awfully bad (snow) they kept me in. After 8 hours they broke my waters and she was born within 1 1/2 hours. Mw tried to tell me I wasn't in labour when I arrived as my tummy was still soft even during contractions. She took that comment back when he realised I was dilated!

Well Monday was supposed to be my first day of mat leave without dd but as mil is here ill just have to wait a few more days.

nat were you right in the first instance? If so, did you enjoy your baby shower?! Haha!

roofio went to mothercare to buy that batman suit but they didn't have it so ended up with Spider-Man and a going home outfit and hat Smile I'm going to order it online instead.

HotSoupDumpling · 07/09/2013 17:08

Nelly - argh, good luck, how exciting!! We're here for any handholding you might need.

MoN, I haven't been given my elcs date yet. V jealous of those of you who have it!

Chickie, I've been retching a lot lately, a bit like the end of my morning sickness in months 4/5, but nowhere as bad as actual ms.

crunchie, you have my sympathies... I have had wind so bad during this pregnancy that I've been rolling around on my gym ball making mooing noises.

Natalieand · 07/09/2013 17:16

pink... hayley.... No baby shower the original text was from dh to my mum saying have u heard from (Natalie's sister) we were thinking on doing her a baby shower on sept 7th'
Then my mum later replied (this was obv at after time after I had seen the original text lol) saying were doing one on September 28th with 5-7 of her good friends and the family can U inbox the names on Facebook so I can Facebook message the people I need too. Dh then later replied to my mum saying
I've messaged u all the people that will almost definately come.
So now I have to wait until sept 28th (37+5) to see if it happens lol
I have just popped to my mums on my way home from next and she's in her pyjamas decorating the spare room so I doubt it will be this evening lol plus I was discussing with my mum things I still need to buy and she just said 'I won't give u all the things I've brought just yet' so I said no its nice to have something to look forward too

Lol sorry for the essay about practically nothing

And can I just add after we've all spent weeks saying how troublesome our toddlers have been (myself included) I don't think I have had to raise my voice even once to dd today. We've had a lovely day out together (she's almost 3) and now I feel sad I'm gunna ruin our life as she knows it. She done the cutest girlie thing earlier I was undoing the click and collect order in next changing room of 4 dresses she chose online and she whispered to me 'this is gunna be so exciting'

Feel free to ignore my completely crapy boring nonsense post but I just needed to have a little chat to myself out loud if that even makes any sense lol

diege · 07/09/2013 18:02

Thanks for the piles advice/sympathy Smile Tarlia I might try the ice packs tonight, though making sure they are suitably covered - wouldn't like to risk an ice burn...I have found some scheriproct cream that I was prescribed after the birth of last dc - not advisable in pregnancy but on further investigations only not to be used in first trimester. I am so desperate I may try for a few days. From reading other threads on MN this seems to be the cream of choice in late pregnancy - oh the glamour..
pink that sound a lovely treat. My 'beauty' aim for this week is to remove my varnish on my toes and reapply...
badger I am very tempted with the coat - would look very cute on ds2 (age almost 2)...plus could save for this baby who is also a boy. In fact that means I'm actually saving money!
Well returned from trip from town for hospital bag essentials and ended up buying one pack of facial wipes for me...splurged instead on h&m baby/childrenswear goodies and paperchase sale Blush

Tarlia · 07/09/2013 18:04

Lets see a link to this coat..

Natalieand · 07/09/2013 18:08

I was just thinking the same tarlia I think £20 is about the maximum id spend on a toddler coat I no I might sound right but trees no guaruntee she won't outgrow it half way through the winter plus I like to buy one 'nice' coat and one more suitable for playschool or if we go down the dark when its a bit miserable out/snow play lol

Natalieand · 07/09/2013 18:11

tight not right lol..

diege · 07/09/2013 18:36

I would link if I knew how Blush. It's the rondini one - yellow with pandas on.
