Hmmm, not sure how I'd feel about being given half a tube of nipple cream - I know it's expensive stuff but I don't think I'd ever dream of giving that to someone (maybe family at a push)

How long has it been open? I'm a bit germ phobic so probably wouldn't touch it.

BridgetandtheHairyBrigands · 04/09/2013 21:35

Oh forgot to say hello to chelly - welcome aboard this busy bus!

chellyyx · 04/09/2013 21:38

Thanks BridgetandtheHairyBrigands! :)

roxvox · 04/09/2013 21:39

Hi chelly! I will add you to the spread sheet tomorrow if someone else doesn't beat me to it.

Seems odd ana. Glad she gave it to you in amongst other stuff and not just on it's own! I'd probably keep it as back up (or as a spare in my changing bag or something). Not sure it would hugely bother me to use it, but I do like to have stuff new really.

Natalieand · 04/09/2013 21:41

Sorry I just realised I wrote I would use it but I had meant to write I wouldnt use it. Xx

roxvox · 04/09/2013 21:42

Baby is so active this evening... Stretching, wiggling around and now he/she appears to be panting and is also suffering from the longest bout of hiccups that I've experienced. Poor little mite, wish I could give him or her a little cuddle!

roxvox · 04/09/2013 21:44

Me again... chelly - a 10lb baby at 38 weeks! Wow Smile

HeffalumpTheFlump · 04/09/2013 21:44

Ana - I'm a bit of a germophobe too so I don't think I'd be able to use it.

Natalie - i'm the same, friends or family fine, anyone else not so much. I have seen some lovely baby bits at boot sales and been really cross with myself because I just couldn't get over that enough to buy them.

Bridget - if I go back there I shall sign up for one then. Thanks!

shelly - hello!! I only joined this yesterday, this is a lovely friendly bunch. I'm having a girl too :)

HeffalumpTheFlump · 04/09/2013 21:48

roxvox aww thats cute. I get the urge to cuddle my baby when she gets startled by a loud noise, its adorable! She has finally settled down after being bananas all day. I was sat in the antenatal class with my belly jumping about. It's nice actually as she has mainly been active at night lately.

chellyyx · 04/09/2013 21:48

Roxvox looks like this baby's going the same way lol 33+4 and my bump measures 39cm! So really extra feeling it now lol.

Natalieand · 04/09/2013 21:50

Also orange I just realised I never answered u from earlier, as they found nothing wrong the the baby it would seem his head had just had a growth spurt last time, his tummy has now caught up and his legs r a little on the short side but still within normal ranges but I'm only 5ft 2 so most likely just genetics anyway. Plus he weighs 5lb 10oz now at 34+2 so definately not small xx

chellyyx · 04/09/2013 21:51

Heffalump I've been lurking a while on and off here but thought why the hell not join in Wink

Flyer747 · 04/09/2013 21:52

Welcome chelly, blimin heck a 10lber!

It is a bit of a bizarre thing to give you ana, I'd probably use it, but I don't really mind second hand stuff (clearly I'm a scab) I've bought quite a few second hand bits, it's my way of economising and doing my bit for the environment in a round about way....

Although I think I have the worst carbon foot print on the job/commuting front so my recycling doesn't really count for much!

Natalieand · 04/09/2013 21:55

heffa that's exactly the same as me. I keep seeing lovely stuff on Local selling sites but I just can't bring myself to buy them lol. Its rediculous really cos sometimes I make myself miss out on some lovely things.
I'm still debating whether to buy a crib or not? I already have a Moses basket the thing is my nonsuprise baby shower is this Saturday (if that's the date they definately chose)i can't be sure as after seeing dh's original texts to my mum about it I've tried to steer clear of anything that could give me any more info and ruin it even more lol and I'm trying so hard not to buy anything else I may need until after the baby shower so I don't end up doubling up on stuff and my sister said she would buy me a crib when I first got my bfp and hasn't mentioned it since so she may have got one for the baby shower?

Ok now I'm waffling and over thinking things

What does everyone else have for the early days? Crib or Moses basket?

chellyyx · 04/09/2013 21:56

Yep Flyer :) was told he would've been about 12lb if they me go full term! He's 2yrs 10mnth and still a stocky little man lol

sisteroutlaw · 04/09/2013 22:03

Evening everyone! Welcome chelly!

Sad

I'm having a beer to relax me... I snapped and shouted so loudly at DS earlier to get up the stairs as it was bedtime that my throat hurts - he was refusing, limp, wailing. But now the anger has gone I just feel bereft. This was after doing all the softly understanding "I know you're upset because you want to continue watching programmes but it's bedtime now" bollocks. Yeah, like he cares that I acknowledge his feelings. Sigh.

Probably need a good cry.

And some [hugs]

roxvox · 04/09/2013 22:08

I said above that I like to have stuff new really - that's a complete fabrication. Every piece of nursery furniture I have bought has been purchased on eBay! But when it comes to products and stuff I just like buying new for the sake of having all new stuff lined up and ready to use (I.e. a money waster).

natalieand I have hired the NCT bednest for the first 6 months. However I would have otherwise opted for a crib over a Moses basket because a) they supposedly last longer (can accommodate a bigger baby) and b) you'll be able to see the baby through the railings from your bed without getting up, rather than have the solid sides of a Moses basket.

OP posts:
roxvox · 04/09/2013 22:09

Big hugs sisteroutlaw! I hate the aftermath of tension.

Flyer747 · 04/09/2013 22:15

Oh dear sister we all have times we lose our rag, hugs, I'm sure he won't hold it against you. Enjoy your beer.

Natalie I have a Moses basket donated by my best friend and a crib purchased second hand Grin it's a John Lewis one in white wood and is almost brand new (so she said) I bought a new mattress for it though. I prefer the crib idea but what do I know (1st timer) so not the best person to offer advice.

HeffalumpTheFlump · 04/09/2013 22:17

natalie I've gone for a Moses basket then will move baby into a cot. I would have gone for the bed nest actually but I didn't find out they existed until after I had bought my Moses basket! Never mind, i think this baby is going to be really long so I don't think she will be in the basket for long anyway.

Sorry you are having a tough night sister, all of you mums who already have kids have my utmost admiration. I've felt so crap through this pregnancy I just don't know how you manage it.

I'm off to bed to not sleep as usual. Night :)

GTbaby · 04/09/2013 22:19

Rox I am also taking a nail file! Lol and wrap around head band even tho I never wear one.

Nappy wise. I have 2size 2packets and 1size 3pack. Pampers size two are from 6lbs-13lbs i think. Lo was almost 8lbs so think bump will be similar.
If you buy to many in a bigger size at least they will get used. And in an emergency they will do the job on a smaller baby. Small nappies will end up unused.

Right off to bed
Night night

Smitten1981 · 04/09/2013 22:22

Natalie, we deliberated for months and then got a crib. It's bigger, won't creak when they move and it will last longer if we want to use it again. And it was actually cheaper than getting a moses and a stand.

PseudoBadger · 04/09/2013 22:24

Glad to see the new thread members are bumping up the girl numbers!

sisteroutlaw · 04/09/2013 22:30

Night everybody and sweet dreams (and Thanks for the hugs heffa flyer and rox). Am just a bit tense and volatile at the moment! Poor DS.

Nappies wise, I'm going to get size 2 - I did first time round and they fitted fine on a 7lb8oz baby (3.1kg) and they say this one is BIG. Gulp.

Seen any offers anywhere? x

Haylebop12 · 04/09/2013 22:34

nat I have a Moses basket but only really because it as dd's. if I didn't have it I would have gone for a crib since dd was long and grew out of the basket at 8 weeks.

sister I totally sympathize with you. Dd starts school Monday, she's 4.7, so we have been trying to get back into some sort of decent bedtime. Things have been let slip a lot during the six weeks. She's generally very compliant but the last two nights I've been ready to put her on eBay. Pissin about all the time!

I would never have considered second hand stuff until I started selling stuff myself. The decent stuff ie, well looked after or next etc I use eBay or fb selling sites. The rest goes to car boot. It's my way of recuperating money spent on clothes in order to fund the next lot. Anyway, I realised the stuff I was selling I would be happy to receive so I do buy a few bits now and again. Had some not so good ones tbh but also had some lovely bits and pieces that haven't cost the earth. (Also 80% of my maternity stuff was purchased on eBay :-))
