Heffalump crappy news about your dh Hmm I hope he gets something soon. Talk about timing hey!

My dog keeps running off with babies socks and scratch mittens....I seem to have odd amounts and missing socks...naughty pooch! She is off her food today (after the enchilada incident) I've just got back from work and dp has fed her mackerel as he was worried she wasn't eating, she wolfed it down, she's such a manipulator and we are too soft with her.

Falcon dp owns a recruitment firm and his main client is a big pensions company. He has just been hiring for a few web developers, a good career to get into with technology, Internet expanding so quickly. So it's a career that can take him many places I guess.

Still haven't packed my bag, planning on starting it in a few weeks Shock lets hope I don't spontaneously go into labour or else I'm screwed.

OrangeBlossom2 · 04/09/2013 19:20

Clapham, A foreign language isn't in the curriculum until KS2 (year 3) though some schools might start earlier. It doesn't have to be French but often is.

Natalie, good news on no c section or early induction. Did the baby just have a growth spurt last time that has slowed down a bit?

Jelly, me too on missing the wee pot or not being able to see where I am weeing. doobeedoo we have to reuse the same pot every time too so I put loo paper round it so I don't smudge the label with wee. Nice.

Legally, glad to hear you were less tired breastfeeding than when pregnant. You have given me hope!

Heffalump, so sorry to hear DH lost job. Are they allowed to give him such short notice? Has he checked his contract? Is this something citizens advice bureau could advise on? They might also tell you if it makes you entitled to any benefits.

Pinkforboys, I was told to do a first morning midstream wee for my repeat sample after having sugar in my post-lunch one.

Sparkeleigh not convinced they can accurately tell baby's weight from your bump size?! They aren't even that accurate when doing a scan.

Hayle agree on using a laundry bag or putting little socks etc in a pillowcase so they don't get lost and clog up the washing machine. We had a couple of break downs due to that when I was a child.

People tell me my bump is neat and all at the front which is a boy bump, but I am more sweet than savoury, have developed a fat spotty face, and have been drinking lots of orange juice and eating satsumas which are boy things so could be either. HR is always just under 150, some people say 150+ is girl, some 140+.

I am knackered after long day at work. Sitting on hard chairs for hours gave me a sore coccyx again and was very hot and sweaty. The other teacher who I thought was pregnant confirmed she is 4 months today. There will be lots of us all over a two year period, I think we could almost mill the whole children's centre nursery which has 9 baby places. Or maybe I should quit and be a childminder just for staff children!

OrangeBlossom2 · 04/09/2013 19:27

I meant sugar/face and oranges are meant to be girl things.

Flyer747 · 04/09/2013 19:28

Orange I hear there is a baby boom for 2013/2014

I keep getting a really uncomfy out of breath feeling and lots of pressure at the top of my bump, I presume my baby is still breech.

Nat pleased to hear your positive news on c section and induction front.

HeffalumpTheFlump · 04/09/2013 19:56

Hotsoup I have had sock and scratchmit issues too! I havent got any laundry bags!

flyer that really made me smile about your dog Grin

orange checked his contract and they have done it all by the book :( hopefully because he is classed as being made redundant we should be able to sort benefits. Off to the cab tomorrow. Great tip about using a pillowcase as a laundry bag! Using that one.

Thanks again for the support re dh's job everyone.

Thanks for the advice about taking a bowl for water to clean baby's bum. I haven't seen it on any of the lists, but I was wondering what we would use.

Oh and I'm having a girl and I got 3/5 girl ones by the way.

PseudoBadger · 04/09/2013 20:09

Pink no actual heart rate, just FHHR (fetal heart rate heard and regular). But I do have 2 lots of ctg trace in my notes too!
I'm going to get them to write my GTT and other bloods in my book tomorrow.

Natalieand · 04/09/2013 20:27

tarlia I thought u might like to no that dh has had his one day off a week today and been moaning on and off all day about his back and each time I've just said 'oh right' although in fairness to him - he hasn't made me do any thing physically challenging to a pregnant women ie. lifting dd and carrying the shopping lol

doobeedee · 04/09/2013 20:27

Orange at my school there are 4 of us due within 2 months!

PseudoBadger · 04/09/2013 20:33

Well I went to Boots today and spent £60 Blush on hospital bag stuff. Oops.

Natalieand · 04/09/2013 20:35

Hospital bags don't come cheap pseudo lol no wonder the hospital don't supply to it all.

PseudoBadger · 04/09/2013 20:40

It was all the expensive stuff like Lanisoh, nappies, peppermint oil capsules (post cs wind!) etc etc

roxvox · 04/09/2013 21:02

£60 pseudo! That surprised me, but in actual fact if I hadn't bought all of my stuff staggered then I probably would have had a similar bill. I always seem to spend too much in boots, which surprises me as someone who isn't in to beauty products etc.

I've posted a bare bump picture on Facebook. After my job of being 1/5th engaged earlier I am sure that baby has moved already as my stomach is going in to all kinds of weird shapes right now!

PseudoBadger · 04/09/2013 21:05

Yes rox I literally bought it all in one go. I just need snacks now another £60 should do it :o

Natalieand · 04/09/2013 21:10

Hehe pseudo £60 in snacks sounds ideal. I got breast pads maternity pads deodorant toothbrush toothpaste wetwipes and Capri suns towards my hospital bag stash today. Might have a little sort out when dd is at play school tommorow and see what else I need. I no for sure I need snacks. But shopping budget just didn't allow for it.

Anyone else got dry nipples? They aren't sore or cracked just quite flaky. Will normal moisturiser fix it do u think? As I don't plan to breast feed so don't want to pay out on an expensive nipple cream x

Also does anyone else have an appt with the health visitor? I got a letter the other day for an appt with the health visitor for tommorow to give me babies red book and have a chat... I remember having the same with dd briefly but just wondered if all areas do the same or something simular? X

OrangeBlossom2 · 04/09/2013 21:11

i hope you all have advantage cards And boots parenting club. it is all expensive isn'it.

HeffalumpTheFlump · 04/09/2013 21:12

We did the same in boots a few days ago. Luckily I already had some of the bits but still managed to spend £30. I was very impressed with their 3 for 2 offers though, we saved £17 in total.

I just need to pack the actual bag now.

How many packs of nappies have you guys bought in advance? I didnt want to buy too many because I've heard that babies grow out of the first size pretty quickly. What brands have you gone for?

roxvox · 04/09/2013 21:13

pseudo DH looked in my hospital bag the other day and exclaimed (jokingly) "Look at all of these snacks and sweets you're hiding from me, these are my favourite too!" ... He went quite sheepish when I pointed out that they were for him (and me) for the hospital Smile

I enjoy knowing that it's all just sitting there ready and waiting to go. I've also added in some random bits like a full over the head hairband (not something I normally wear, but the girls on OBEM always seem to be brushing the hair out of their eyes), plus a nail file because I will be cursing not having one if I have a nail snag and keep catching it on things!

roxvox · 04/09/2013 21:16

heffa I am probably the least clued up to help, but I bought one pack of the size 1 Pampers (I think there are 24 or so in a pack) and then 2 packs of size 2. I figure that, if baby does fit better in the size 1 nappies, then I can send DH to get some more.

HeffalumpTheFlump · 04/09/2013 21:16

natalie - mine are a bit dry right in the middle. I am hoping to bf so have just used my nipple balm. I would have thought a bit of Vaseline or lip balm would be better than just moisturiser. I only say that because my nipple balm says it can be used on lips so I assume they need similar sort of moisturising if that makes sense.
No appointment with a health visitor yet.

orange is the advantage card and parenting club worth it? I never usually go to boots and actually only popped in there because I was looking for lanolin free nipple cream. What sort of benefits is there to having one?

Sparkeleigh · 04/09/2013 21:18

orange - I doubt it's accurate, but I was a bit Shock when I calculated the weight from kg into lbs and ozs! I was 6lb and my bro was 7lb so I'm hoping this baby is around that size!

I'd completly forgotten about scratch mits, thanks to whoever mentioned those!

Haylebop12 · 04/09/2013 21:22

I seem to have the opposite with my nipples. Very soft Hmm

chellyyx · 04/09/2013 21:22

Helloo how do I join the list??? Pg with number 2 a little girl due 19th October :). I'm in the middle of getting a date for second induction 2 wk early so around the start of October.. She's measuring big just like DS! Had growth scan on Monday she's est at 5lb 13oz upto now :). DS was induced 2 wk early and he was 10lb1/4oz.

ananikifo · 04/09/2013 21:24

natalie I've had dry or flaky and sore nipples too. I'm convinced it's not crusty milk. If you're not planning to bf you could use a cheaper nipple cream or a moisturiser that's gentle. I would just worry that nipples are so sensitive so I wouldn't use anything that could cause irritation.

A colleague thinks I'm poor (and I found out later she's told others that's why she's giving me stuff Confused) and she has given me half a tube of Lansinoh. I took it like I accept everything but I can't decide how I feel about it. One one hand it seems a very personal item but on the other hand the stuff is expensive and she only used half a tube in total. Honestly ladies is that gross? Should I stop being so cheap? (She also gave me a bunch of other baby things. It's not like she just handed me an old tube of Lansinoh.)

BridgetandtheHairyBrigands · 04/09/2013 21:25

Heffa - I definitely think the advantage card and parenting club is worthwhile. Doesn't cost anything to join and the points really do add up. I spent approx £25 in Boots today and paid for it entirely with points.

Natalieand · 04/09/2013 21:27

Lol ana why do they think u are poor? :-/ orquad. Personally I would use a half used tube but then I can be a bit of a snob with second hand stuff, ill always use second hand stuff if a family member of v good friend had given me if but if someone not so close gave me it I wouldn't use if and I wouldn't use second hand clothes off ppl I don't no too well either x
