Looks like we need another new thread Blush- we've been rather busy!

Up to date (ish) Stats thread here:
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/a1694946-September-2013-STATS-THREAD

As previously- Welcome newbies! If anyone wants to join the Facebook group (better for sharing documents and pictures- especially picture of gorgeous babies), please message myself or jennimoo with your real life name and email address and we can add you to the group!

Bring on the irritating texts from family members and best friends to find out whether you've had your babies or not (like you wouldn't tell them.....), more weird and disgusting labour symptoms, more internal examinations than you can shake a stick at, and LOTS OF BABIES!

Oh ok thanks ready I'll boot up the laptop and have a look then - what a bloody unhelpful feature that is!

badguider · 30/08/2013 09:26

You can change your settings to allow messages from non-friends into your inbox but it means any page or company can spam you.

badguider · 30/08/2013 09:38

I've updated the stats list - can somebody check it? The 29th was our busiest day yet for babies - four mums and five babies :)

I think some people might have changed name between being listed in the EDD list and their birth announcement - so there might be some people below the line listed with an EDD who shouldn't be there as they're already above the line with an actual birth date.

The one to check is the very last post on the list, dated this morning, and that's the one to copy and paste if you can make any changes.

Thanks :)

I'm up for meet ups! Can do anywhere in/around London - have existing reasons to go to Essex (ILs), Kent and Surrey (mates), and there are lots of gardens I want to visit with my RHS card and I think you can usually take one guest in free/discounted. And they do good tea and cake. Honestly, taking a baby into London other than in rush hour is really not that bad once you have got into good habits of not taking every possible thing out with you. Daunting yes but difficult no.

Changing bags: when you come in from a day out, re-stock the bag so it is ready and stuffed under the buggy. Having a changing set either on the table in the nursery or in the room you end up spending most if your time should be a separate thing from the going out bag. Changing mats... Hmm we actually always ended up using a muslin, just to protect the floor, but we did have some more spill-proof mats too, no idea where they are from, and foldable slightly padded wipe clean mats. If you put the fresh nappy opened out under the bum before you start taking off the stinky one, you usually don't run the risk of any mess escaping at all.

RakeABedOfTyneFilth · 30/08/2013 09:49

We've lost some people to the 'due any dway?' thread too, badguider. E.g. I'm sure ladyflumpalot was one of ours some time back.

Kittenkatzen · 30/08/2013 10:09

Shock people are defecting to other freds?? Traitors!! Wink

rake I'm definitely up for a central London meet up too, will be looking for an excuse to take baby into the office for showing off!

MrsMangoBiscuit · 30/08/2013 10:19

That's where I'm lucky Kitten, my office is closer to the ward than my house is. I've already warned people that I will be waddling over for a change of scenery if they want to keep me in! Grin

RakeABedOfTyneFilth · 30/08/2013 13:33

Boooooo. Just had 40+3 appointment. Baby still pointing the right way but 4/5 palpable so not very engaged at all. Went for a sweep but cervix posterior and she could only just get a fingertip in. So it's basically not happening. Ah well, I can plan other stuff now. Think we'll go swimming, and go into London tomorrow to one of the museums. I could have booked a pedicure if I'd thought about it but my preferred places are probably booked up now.

Lovely lovely midwife had to mention induction to me, gave me a leaflet, but agreed it wasn't something we really want to think about now. At next Friday's appointment we'll talk some more probably, but I've had a look at the leaflet and they do 'outpatient IOL' for low risk pregnancies, where you are given the pro-pess and sent home to labour normally. I expect home birth is not advised by then (although if I really really insisted...)

So I am a bit grumpy now.

Manoodledo · 30/08/2013 14:02

Poor you rake. I remember that feeling with DS2. I was 40+3 too. Still, it can all happen really quickly. I got home from my midwife appointment in a right mood, gutted that it wasn't happening and my waters broke very soon after. I'm feeling a bit like that just now. It feels like weeks now I've been on edge, every morning you get up thinking it could be today, then at night you go to bed half expecting to be up in the night making a dash to the hospital, but no... Do you think if I finally sit down and sew up all the baby things I've been knitting the baby will make an appearance? Is that what it's waiting for? Or maybe I need to actually have the moses basket fully ready, currently it's just sitting by my bed full of sheets and blankets and some newborn clothes.

jennimoo · 30/08/2013 14:38

Rake - DD wasn't even 1/5 engaged a few days before she was born so means nothing. This one was 5/5s engaged for weeks...

TripleRock · 30/08/2013 15:41

And the cervix thing, you can be totally closed and go into labour within hours, or equally you can be 1-2 cm and nothing happen for days/weeks.

Totally get where you're coming from though. DD came 11 days late, and the whole 'babies come when they're ready' gets really old really quick «hugs»

RakeABedOfTyneFilth · 30/08/2013 15:56

Thanks for the sympathy Smile I know I am over thinking. Bit self indulgent. I have grown another 2cm over the bump in the past week too, so I know baby is getting bigger all the time and it can't be spacious in there any more, but I just weighed myself too and I have lost a whole kilo since a couple of weeks ago, which is very odd indeed. This may have something to do with the energy boost I think have had and the walks, berry picking, swimming... But still, bump getting bigger and overall weight not... is weird.

Ho hum. Yay for all the new babies especially the latest twins!

badguider · 30/08/2013 15:58

I thought that second children onwards didn't really 'engage' till labour anyway rake?
I doubt any of it means anything.. still could be any time.

frogchops · 30/08/2013 16:13

Rake, have been just reading a few 'signs to look for' articles and lots of which suggest mom will often lose a couple or three pounds just before things kick off....sounds like what's happened!

WaggyBlueElf · 30/08/2013 16:20

Rake, I feel your pain. 40+2 and saw the midwife this morning - mine's still not engaged either, and grown another 2cm since last time. They wouldn't even attempt a sweep with me! I have been getting a few cramps over the last couple of days so I did think things might be starting off, but had nothing today so I think I can safely assume not. Ah well, got a hot curry made for tomorrow night and will get bouncing on the gym ball to see if that helps.

Baby brain also seems to be getting the better of me. Been quite good til now but I have just managed to take the dog to the park in my pajama bottoms Blush Wearing them round the house as I decided to wash all my comfy bottoms this morning (can I blame that on nesting??!) and my jeans are just slightly too tight for lazing on sofa confortably but I fully intended to put them back on to go out. I realised midway round and then the odd looks I'd got from my neighbours on the way out suddenly made sense...

Gah! Trying to get our mortgage changed over using a brilliant independent financial advisor. Annoyingly they needed to see a bank statement with payments going in for our sallaries and are now asking "Are you pregnant" as there's some Mothercare purchases on there. CAB says www.adviceguide.org.uk/wales/housing_w/housing_moving_and_improving_your_home_e/buying_a_home.htm :
^A mortgage lender doesn't have to give you a mortgage. However, they must not refuse to lend you a mortgage, or treat you less favourably than other people, simply because you are pregnant.

If the mortgage lender has turned down your application because of your pregnancy, this is likely to be discrimination and could be unlawful. Get advice from an experienced adviser about what to do.^

But it's v annoying. When we first got a mortgage 5 yrs ago, we owed much more, were paying a much higher rate and were both earning considerably less between us than my husband currently earns.... so with our new much lower rate we'll be quids in- so they better bloody not refuse us a mortgage!!

Walked 4 miles yesterday and feet are the size of loaves of bread..... husband had the afternoon off and the chain snapped on his new mountain bike so he's hobbling around too! Rubbish pair!

Ha ha Waggy, that made me chuckle! Baby brain indeed!

Fozziebearmum2be · 30/08/2013 17:17

Fl0 try not to worry (although it is a pretty random question to ask!) I've just moved house and although our mortgage provider threw many obstacles in our way (house related) in the end they approved everything, so good luck

fl0b0t · 30/08/2013 17:32

Phew, thanks! Just did some dull maths and they'd be idiots not to approve!

SGJ · 30/08/2013 17:52

Rake - I've heard the same thing about losing weight right at the end as well; there's got to be a silver lining about going overdue!
Midwife has arranged for a sweep next Thursday (41+1) but didn't book an induction date so hoping that it'll all kick off naturally and I won't end up having to wait until 14+ days over due to September baby boom/busy hospital!

juniper9 · 30/08/2013 18:23

Flo I tried to hide my pregnancy from

juniper9 · 30/08/2013 18:25

Grr!

... Our mortgage advisor as we're first time buyers and I thought they might see me as too much of a risk. Trying to cover up a 6 month bump by standing strategically was not especially effective. When she looked through our account, there was a payment to NCT which she queried, but I just played innocent. Don't think we fooled her, but she never asked directly- just asked if we have any dependants (and the cats don't count, regardless of how DP feels about them!)

jennimoo · 30/08/2013 18:43

I weighed myself in labour on Monday and securely hadn't put on in the last few weeks, possibly a month. Might have even lost a pound but my scales are pretty unreliable. Looking forward to weighing myself soon and seeing how much has dropped off!

dexterpat · 30/08/2013 20:00

I weighed myself the day ds2 was born (after an 8lb2 baby + all the other guff had gone) and cried as I was 15 stone (5 stone weight gain!!!!!!!!!!!!) took me 2 years to get back under 10 stone then found out I was pg with ds3 am currently 12 1/4 stone trying not to turn into a whale!!! (Again!!)

Joskar · 30/08/2013 20:35

Support hose.

Two words to suck the joy and any residual glamour out of pregnancy.
