Looks like we need another new thread Blush- we've been rather busy!

Up to date (ish) Stats thread here:
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/a1694946-September-2013-STATS-THREAD

As previously- Welcome newbies! If anyone wants to join the Facebook group (better for sharing documents and pictures- especially picture of gorgeous babies), please message myself or jennimoo with your real life name and email address and we can add you to the group!

Bring on the irritating texts from family members and best friends to find out whether you've had your babies or not (like you wouldn't tell them.....), more weird and disgusting labour symptoms, more internal examinations than you can shake a stick at, and LOTS OF BABIES!

ps. Boats never think you're being a drama queen when pregnant. By default we are always right Grin

Moneypennyf2 · 09/09/2013 21:30

Well done Rake, sounds like a challenge at e end but at least you ad the birth you wanted. I have been lurking on here for a while reading everyone's stories.

My first little one is due on Friday the 13th, we're not sure if it is a girl or boy. We are planning on having it at a birthing centre about 20mis from the nearest hospital (assuming everything goes smoothly).

im with you mynamesnotmichaelcane! If I could remove two words from the English language, they would without a doubt be "any news". Saw the midwife again today for another (failed) attempt at a sweep. once again my cervix is too posterior. So im booked for an induction on the 17th (term plus 13). Gutted that I might I still have another week of waiting. How are you getting on? Its lovely seeing all the new babies on here and facebook but I must admit its making me very jealous Sad hurry up baby Leavy. Its really not that bad out here I promise you.

fl0b0t · 10/09/2013 03:12

Hi all 3 am. .. What's going on? ! Baby Robin is almost 12 hours old. ... little boy born at 3; 35pm. Beautiful wonderful water birth three and a half hours after coming in! madness. Third stage more complex. ... retained placenta, so after almost an hour of waiting for natural third stage, then the injection anyway, then a crash team of 14 arriving whilst I lost some blood (benefit of this being I was mostly out of it by then) cue surprisingly unscary for me spinal block and visit to theatre to get my 'unusual'placenta out! daddy got lots of cuddles time with baby and we were all reunited about 7pm.

Mental day. Robin hasn't quite worked out latching on for more than ten seconds but enjoys a spoon of hand expressed colostrum. Accidental flooded catheter at one am plus other babies crying. .. not had any sleep yet

Thanks for all your kind words, realty makes a difference to read all this feeling tired and emotional at 3 am whilst working out whether it's rude to call the nurse to find out about plugging my phone in. .... not that I can find anything.

Biggest bestest tip.... if you packed your hospital bag ages ago like we did, double check what you have. I have no idea what is in any bag and legs still a bit wobbly to investigate. Midwives keep asking 'do you have x?'and u have no idea!

Also if you have a messy bloody birth, don't panic if baby's first sick and spit for hours after had blood in it! entirely normal apparently as poor mite has taken a belly full of gross stuff!

Mooster1709 · 10/09/2013 04:24

Oh thank you dietcoke and mrsmango, it's so nice to know this is sort of normal. My whole life is abit of a 'what the fuck have I done' moment at present, so that really really helped. Can't believe you're even attempting to make bread though! All I do at present is try to sleep, and occasionally eat something...

On the bras I can recommend the bravado seamless silk - really comfy and comes in s, m,l so a bit less stressful. My boobs gave settled down a bit now and the m and the l both seem to fit my 34d/e ok (depending on measuring system-with the mumsnet system I'm an e or f FWIR).

Mooster1709 · 10/09/2013 04:26

Sorry, posted before reading last page of thread - congratulations fl0, and well done!

mynameisnotmichaelcaine · 10/09/2013 06:32

Congratulations Fl0, lovely news :) Kim, failed sweep here too, am booked in for Sat (term +12). Had a little cry as had lovely home birth with ds and this just seems so different. Did think there might be something starting off last night, but obv not as absolutely nothing doing this morning.

Readytosettle · 10/09/2013 06:51

Hey Fl0, don't worry too much about sleeping just yet...u must have so much adrenalin coursing through u right now! I'm sure you'll get some once ur body calms down.

Purple I'm normally a 32G or 34FF, the hotmilk is 36FF. When I got it at 16weeks I was I the 3rd notch...as I grew I went all the way to the furthest setting, now I've 'dropped' I'm just 1 in from the furthest (so notch 5). This is it: www.boobiemilk.co.uk/product.php?id=154 I'm thinking that I might just order 1 cup size bigger & same back size....but it's so difficult to know as my boobs really don't seem to have grown at all so far.

All this talk of retained placenta's has confirmed I want that injection now....even if it does involve tummy rubbing!

mynameisnotmichaelcaine · 10/09/2013 09:54

Me too Ready, and I didn't have it either other time.

I have bought 3 of the Bravado seamless nursing bras, and they are absolutely lovely. I'm normally a 30DD, so have bought the medium, as I can always take them in eventually if need be, and at the moment they fit really well.

I breastfed both of mine for quite a long time, so ended up getting some nicer nursing bras (I think I had Elle Macpherson ones) once I had settled back into a size that was going to become more normal (once they were about six months old). I then mistakenly thought I would have a more generous cleavage forever. Bit of a shock when I stopped feeding DS when he was 3 and went from a 32FF down to a 30DD!

TripleRock · 10/09/2013 11:49

I was thinking that too about the injection Ready and Michaelcaine. Think I will have it too. If I get a VB

PurplePoppySeed · 10/09/2013 12:02

Agreed ready in fact didn't we talk about 3rd Stage when we met last week?

Oh fl0 I feel terrible if you went for natural 3rd stage based on our conversation and then that happened! Poor you! If its not a difficult question, can I ask - did the cord stop pulsing before they cut it? My NCT teacher kept saying that if we wanted natural 3rd stage then the cord had to completely stop pulsing before it is cut.

Thanks for the bra advice ready I think I might order one as whilst the M&S ones seem ok, they probably won't be once the milks in!

fl0b0t · 10/09/2013 13:18

purple sounds like this would have happened with natural or managed so that's. .. good?!I can't remember tomuch of what happened post baby arrival but they did delay the clamping.

I had lots of rubbing and jiggling and pulling and then the injection and more of that than a big man with his hands in me!!! I think it's an inherited issue so unless you know your mothers had problems with retained placenta then not to worry too much. What's amazing is that they literally make a placenta puzzle to make sure they have all the bits! ! I just had a chat with the doctor who did it for me. They are in disagreement about how much blood I lost! Not that it matters!

Amazing had to listen to Bounty hard selling to a few couples in my Ward (some just over a hundred quid! ) . I even heard s midwife apologise to the Bounty trip for interrupting her. ..wtf?! when they popped into see me I looked tearful and said I wasn't interested at all. They still have me the child benefit firm and then fucked off.

OP posts:
PurplePoppySeed · 10/09/2013 14:31

Oh so the rubbing and jiggling and pulling wasn't just my NCT teacher over dramatising, that's good to be prepared for! Funny to imagine a 'placenta puzzle'

Cant believe the bounty ladies, glad you were able to get rid! No visitors but the bounty lady is fine WTF!

jennimoo · 10/09/2013 15:59

Don't forget you can have the injection anytime. I went for natural 3rd stage and delivered the placenta fine and intact. However a shirt while later there seemed to be a bit more blood loss than there should have been (a little 'gush'!) so they recommended I have the injection at that point.

Peregrin · 10/09/2013 16:39

Looks like I've entered pre-labour, even though our due date is 28 Sept. DH is abroad at a conference that he very smartly organised... early this year he thought I was crazy for suggesting that maybe he should avoid booking trips abroad this month! As an expat, I don't have any family here either. Hang on in there, baby... and please don't come on the weekend either when the obstetrician I trust is away!

Currently 2 cm dilated (I'd had an appointment anyway at the hospital for follow-up monitoring after an external cephalic version). Last night was interesting... the pain of the contractions was fine but the soreness spread to my thighs, the way it feels before my periods, and I couldn't sleep. At some point I was shivering under a hot shower with my teeth rattling, but I am pretty sure that was panic rather than directly to do with labour.

flipflump · 10/09/2013 16:40

DH kindly announced my placenta looked like a sirloin and was bigger than the baby!!! Charming man!!

Fl0 sounds like you had a bit of a rough time after a lovely labour. Hope you're taking it easy and feeling better.

Joskar · 10/09/2013 17:27

Now it seems to me that there is some queue jumping happening. I must be nearly at the head of the queue and yet there are people after me with babies. A word of warning: I'll be tapping you on the shoulder and saying "Excuse me!" in a loud outraged voice if there's any more of this carry on!

RakeABedOfTyneFilth · 10/09/2013 17:34

Yikes Peregrin, that does sound like early labour, but don't worry, it can go on for a while. With my first, irregular contractions including that feeling down to my thighs went on for 48hrs and I was only 3cm at the end of it all. Obviously I don't wish a long labour on you but if you need time for DH to get home, then this is possible!! Have you got a friend or a doula if you did need to be accompanied to hospital?

Dorita75 · 10/09/2013 17:41

Good luck everyone who's yet to have their babies. I'm switching to the FB page for a while, just easier to keep track of especially as I have my c-section tomorrow and life will likely be very different!!!

BinarySolo · 10/09/2013 20:32

Good luck dorita, hope all goes well.

Manoodledo · 10/09/2013 22:38

Congrats to Fl0, good luck to Dorita. I can't seem to get my head around the Facebook page as I don't know who anyone is on it. Is there a Mumsnet name to real name conversion chart anywhere?

Now over a week late and starting to stress out about possible induction. With my other 2 I had really straightforward, fairly quick births and I just can't see that happening this time round for some reason. I might be wrong, there's still time. I shouldn't have been such a wuss and refused a sweep last week, although if you're not ready, there's not much they can do anyway. The midwife did say I could change my mind at any point. Might call her tomorrow...

juniper9 · 10/09/2013 23:32

man if you look on the spreadsheet then everyone is listed by MN name and real name.

peregrin good luck with the pains, and fingers crossed DH makes it!

Does anyone know if you can go into labour before baby has dropped if it's your first time? I've been getting weird and uncomfortable pains all day, but I know I haven't dropped (I'm either 37+2 by scan or 38+2 by dates). They don't feel like period pains, but they don't feel like Braxton hicks either. Baby is still moving a lot but it doesn't feel like that either. I'm meant to go to the hospital as soon as labour starts (strep b) and I'm scared I'm going to miss the early signs, then be too late for the drip.
