Looks like we need another new thread Blush- we've been rather busy!

Up to date (ish) Stats thread here:
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/a1694946-September-2013-STATS-THREAD

As previously- Welcome newbies! If anyone wants to join the Facebook group (better for sharing documents and pictures- especially picture of gorgeous babies), please message myself or jennimoo with your real life name and email address and we can add you to the group!

Bring on the irritating texts from family members and best friends to find out whether you've had your babies or not (like you wouldn't tell them.....), more weird and disgusting labour symptoms, more internal examinations than you can shake a stick at, and LOTS OF BABIES!

Big well done to all you breastfeeding ladies, sounds like you're all doing brilliantly...especially flip good on you for sticking with it Thanks

rake sorry your PILs are causing you stress - that's just what you need right now isn't it, grown up relatives acting like spoilt stroppy teenagers Sad I'm annoyed on your behalf!

PurplePoppySeed · 04/09/2013 08:32

Likewise, many of us have all this to come and I'm sure you'll all be pros by then Smile

Rake don't let it bother you, it's really good that your DH is fending them off, as many of us find our DHs don't notice their parents odd behaviour Wink I do think as ppl get older they loose a bit of perspective on how busy real life can be when your preparing for a baby-I've just had the same with my Aunt calling every day trying to arrange to meet when we're desperately trying to sort things out before baby arrives!

kim I had my app do weekly updates for a while but it wound me up by week 14 when it kept telling me how much better I felt at that stage - did I? Really? So it got turned off Grin

Well done breast feeding ladies, if it is any help everything I have heard is that is it hard work to start with as you and the baby learn how it all works. flip sounds like a dreadful hospital experience, if you can be bothered make sure you complain. Midwives are supposed to support you with breastfeeding etc post birth if you want to, and do everything they can to help you establish feeding.
The nct has a national helpline phone number which links to local breastfeeding supporters who can either talk things through on the phone or if they are local come out to see you.

Also, def try the mumsnet board.

badguider · 04/09/2013 08:53

Phew! Survived another night :)
My goodness the nights are tough.

Discovered last night that once ds has fed loads on both sides and still crying he can be slightly calmed down by sucking my finger. Partic during nappy changes which he hates. He won't take dh's finger though and hes the one doing nappies so i can sleep. So going out for a dummy today - to try when he's really fed but still upset. Apparently the stats (cochrane review) is it doesn't have ti harm bf.

Kittenkatzen · 04/09/2013 09:19

badguider I reckon this is definitely one of those times where you throw the books out the window and go with whatever works for you and your DS. And if DS wand a dummy then that's what he should get - sounds like you'll all be happier for it Smile

TripleRock · 04/09/2013 09:28

Totally agree Kitten

flipflump · 04/09/2013 11:01

Ladies, you are all amazing, thank you for your support. Expecting midwife any minute, hopefully all is well and she'll check latch etc. our local breastfeeding group has moved (we're pretty rural) and I'm very sore so don't fancy leaving the house. Today I'm going to make some calls, see who can offer help or if anyone can visit us. I'm feeling far more determined and positive that it's not causing harm thanks to you wonderful people.

Badguider I read a fab book called Blissful baby expert and she suggests using a dummy after feed otherwise baby will use you as a dummy and you'll become sore. I don't think I should try it yet as I think I need all the stimulation my breasts can get. Praying my milk comes in, it will give me a bit more hope. He's just so beautiful and worth every second. I'd like to think DH and I are still fairly relaxed and not getting too uptight. My parents arrive on Friday, can't wait, feel a million miles apart from them right now. Mum is planning menus and to do all my chores for me so I can feed, she's brilliant. Sounds like DH isn't pulling his weight, he most definitely is but I can see he's getting tired. Thanks again, I'm ready to take on today and feed like a demon!!!

jennimoo · 04/09/2013 11:24

Glad you're feeling more positive flip. I find its the middle of the night that's the worst: I convince myself I must be doing something wrong

Do let us know who you find most helpful though so we can know who's best to call when we need it!

Peregrin · 04/09/2013 11:53

My boy is still resolutely in frank breech so my consultant persuaded me to try for an external cephalic version tomorrow. Feeling a bit nervous about it! I've read the RCOG guidelines and the actual statistics, which make it sound quite safe, but it's still hard to ignore personal stories that ended up going tragically wrong.

On a totally different point, I had not yet gotten around to pruning my pubes and my (very handsome) consultant decided to do a strep b swab on the spot.. most embarrassing. Definitely purchasing some Veet today and getting the shears out.

PinkApple86 · 04/09/2013 12:38

Hello everyone. I've been hovering around the pregnancy boards for ages. Due on 19th Sept so wanted to come and join in. First baby. Getting nervous now.

TripleRock · 04/09/2013 13:07

Just had the news that my baby has flipped back to back, just like DD was :(

Gutted after presentation scan showed baby in an optimum position 2 weeks ago.

So I have now got an ELCS booked for 41 weeks and feel all up in the air now about a VBAC. Just wish I had a crystal ball and knew what the outcome would finally be.

fl0b0t · 04/09/2013 13:13

hiya pinkapple- Think you might have been on ttc thread last year with myself and dietcoke? Hope you're well! PM me if you'd like to joint he facebook group too!

Keepsmilingsunshine · 04/09/2013 17:17

Hi, been doing a lot of looking but not much posting of late. It's lovely hearing about everyones new arrivals and the pictures on FB are just adorable. Hope all the new mums and dads and babies are keeping well and those who are still waiting (like me) aren't getting to fed up.

Been to see the MW today 38+5 and baby is floating around very free and happy - head down (which is a relief after being breech at 37 weeks) but not even the slightest bit engaged. I on the other hand, would quite like baby to make an appearance as I am getting increasingly grumpy and feeling more aches and pains. The MW said that chances of baby coming anytime soon are very slim Sad. Trying to enjoy the last few days/weeks of being pregnant for what I think will be the last time but finding it tough. Planning on taking it easy tomorrow and hope to do some baking - nothing like eating cake to cheer me up!

EmmaDee · 04/09/2013 18:18

Hi all, welcome pinkapple.
I had my 37 week appointment with mw today, and she thinks the baby is too big so off to hospital on Monday for a scan. Typical I forked out 100 quid to have a private one last week that estimated the baby to be 7lbs but I didn't mention that to mw as any chance to see the baby is gladly recieved!!

She also found +1 protein in my pee, I've been resisting the urge to consult Dr Google, any one any similar experience? Have to drop in another sample in the morning.

Mw also reckons baby is too far on the right, she said the prefer left or centred? Any experience? How do I get it to move?!

PoppettyPing · 04/09/2013 18:28

Hey all, I haven't posted since waaay back in the beginning but it's great to hear about all the new babies!! Congrats all around!

Peregrin I had an ECV last week at 38 weeks, and it was SO not as bad as I thought it was going to be. It was successful and took all of 30 seconds! And this is my first baby, and I have pretty strong abs Grin

I think the risks are less than 1% overall, (trust me I was worried too, but was keen to try and avoid CS) and if the doc who does it knows their stuff they can usually tell straightaway if baby is going to co-operate or not. Mine was frank breech. I just did yoga breathing and honestly it was fine. They monitored baby before and after for quite awhile, all was well, and brought me and DH tea and toast. Good luck for whatever you decide though! I know how frustrating a stubborn little breechling is..

SGJ · 04/09/2013 18:53

Welcome new ladies/old posters! Our group is fab.
Just a quickie:
DD2 has only had 1 wet nappy all day so far. It's only day 3 and ridiculously hot here, and she has done a frankly quite astoundingly huge poo today, but is anyone else's baby not weeing much in the hot weather?

TripleRock · 04/09/2013 18:58

EmmaDee have you looked on the Spinning Babies website? It explains the different presentations and exercises to try shifting them.

From what I understand, baby's back bone curving down the front/LHS of your abdomen is optimal.

No-one has told my baby though who is in the dreaded OP or back to back :( As was DD 3 years ago, sigh!

Peregrin · 04/09/2013 19:47

Poppet, thanks for posting your experience and for the reassurance. Good to hear it worked for you! Hope your little one stays head down now, and nicely engaged.

EmmaDee, in my antenatal course we were taught that the baby lying on the right typically means longer labour. If I remember correctly, they supposedly rotate around to the left during labour as that way they fit better into the birth canal due to its shape.

TripleRock · 04/09/2013 20:02

SGH I only know what is says in the Mothers and Others guide which is around 6 wees in 24 hours by day 5, and a couple of yellow poos each day.

Not sure about the hot weather but presumably baby would be taking more feeds to make up for that, plus I'm sure that the make up of BM changes in warmer weather to take account also.

Although to be frank, it's easy for a nb's wee to get 'lost' in a nappy and or lost in the poo, so he may have gone a few more times? Have you compared the weight of his used nappy to a dry one to see if a wee is hiding in there?

Readytosettle · 04/09/2013 20:24

SGJ was the pee really dark? That would be a sign of a dehydration...

CheeseStrawCraving · 04/09/2013 20:27

Sgj mine didn't go more tan once/twice on day 3 but tbh think triple is bang on, think his got 'lost' in the giant nappies!

Re bf, my LO is feeding really well once he latches (day 11) but it is really hurting me, am sure my positioning is all wrong (more on one side than the other) which means my latch hurts.... He gets it right on the right 8/10 times, but only 1/10 times on the left. Any advice gratefully received, am feeding through gritted teeth/tears sometimes. Am doing cradle on right and rugby on left but have tried variations. He's so wiggly!

Readytosettle · 04/09/2013 20:27

Just sent u a Facebook message with some dehydration info....

WhizzsMum · 04/09/2013 20:34

Hi Ladies, I've not posted for a very long time but just wanted to say it has been lovely reading all the good news. Sorry to hear of those struggling with BF. I struggled with DD1 and was too stubborn/bloody minded to ask for help and then regretted it after lots of my friends later went on to attend lovely BF groups and had lovely BF support workers. Despite my difficulties 1st time I plan to BF DC2 and will seek advice/attend group if necessary.

To those of you who have already given birth or remember from a previous time - when you had your 'show' was it pinkish in colour? I really can't remember from 1st time round if I had a show at all.
