Ok, I can't see a May thread in here so I guess I will start one! According to the NHS due date calculator my EDD is actually 30th April but I think that makes me more likely to be having a May baby anyway!

Am feeling very tentative about starting this thread as I had a mc in June and it's very early days for this one but...anyone want to come and chat through these nerve-wracking first few days?

OP posts:

VikingVagine · 08/09/2013 11:23

I wonder if I could ask for chips instead of rice...

Cupcake11 · 08/09/2013 11:34

Ooh, curry sounds good! Strange the things you can stomach. I was really enjoying convent gardens chicken soup last week so I've stocked up but now the thought of it's turning my stomach.

VikingVagine · 08/09/2013 11:39

The curry smells divine. Still want cheesy chips though

moominleigh94 · 08/09/2013 11:46

Been talking to my mum, things are easing a bit. Going back tomorrow for a hug and to start packing my stuff Smile

Thanks everyone for your advice. Got a little bit worried earlier, symptoms seem to have disappeared, but the sense of smell is still as strong as ever, and the thought of chocolate still turns my stomach, so... anyone else been having sudden disappearance of symptoms?

bushprincess · 08/09/2013 13:32

Hugs booming, but do glad it sounds like your mum is coming round to the idea and hope she will support whatever decision is right forbyou.

Contrast thistle on your scan and goodluck viking and mcbaby on yours

Hiya hendricks looking forward to welcoming more of the Sept bus here!

Desperately need to get a bigger bra, but think I'll just stuck to a well fitted normal bra for now.... m and s here i come!
Nice, short run this morning, but a better sports bra is also needed! No nausea yet, but some funny twinges, only 4+ 5 though so time yet for more sign!! Sure I'll be fed up of them when they start though!

bushprincess · 08/09/2013 13:33

Ahhhh... wretched auto correct, that's moomin obviously!

bushprincess · 08/09/2013 13:34

And congrats not contrast!

Allypallyjelly · 08/09/2013 16:39

Hi girls just a quick update. Went back for second scan following from the first one last week.
Last week based on LMP was 5wks 5days and gestational sac diameter of 10.2mm with yolk sac seen.
Today, I'm supposed to be 6wks 5 days but scan shows 13.2mm and fetal pole seen only at 1.2mm. Sonographer just said that it was too small or too early to say anything like dating it. And told me if I want a reassurance then go after 2 more weeks to see better and heartbeat. Anyone else experienced the same? I was surprised to find within one week the sac had only increased by 3mm? Maybe I'm thinking too much..

impatientlywaiting · 08/09/2013 17:39

AllyPally I have no experience at all with scans so don't know if that's the kind of growth that would be expected. Did the ultrasound tech give you any indications about whether it was expected?

McBaby · 08/09/2013 17:43

Allypally it does sound a little worrying if you are sure of your dates. The first think I would do is contact your GP or the Whittington epu they have been very good when friends have had concerns in the past.

I would have concerns about the sonographer as they should be able to tell you more esp having done two scans in last two weeks. Also did they do the scan on your tummy as it can be too early to see properly that way which could be the problem.

I had a early scan at 6w5d at Highgate private hospital last time and they were very good and sonographer was very helpful. It was transvaginal but the foetus measured 9mm.

Sorry if this is not what you were wanting to hear and have rewritten it a few times and debated posting but hoping something will be helpful.

Allypallyjelly · 08/09/2013 17:49

Hi mcbaby
Thanks I really appreciate your comments and totally understand where you're coming from. I was a bit baffled by the Sonographer too as when I asked both times (they were diff tech) but couldn't tell me how far along I was. She said nothing to worry just wait a few more weeks for it to be further developed. Well I'm 100% certain of my lmp and have started charting since dec 2012. But I guess this being a first I just don't know how to question her when she told me this is it..too early just wait. I did mine at ultrababy in highgate. I didn't know the highgate hospital does pregnancyultrasound scans too as I much prefer that hosp.
Anyway she did a transV scan and the foetal pole was teeny weeny well 1.2mm :/ I have another u/s which my husband bought at Harley street for our supposedly 8 weeks scan so I guess we will find out in 2weeks time but it is v nerve wrecking.

ThunderbumsMum · 08/09/2013 17:58

allypally I hope all is ok. This is such anxious time. FX for you and bubba. X

impatientlywaiting · 08/09/2013 18:01

It's awful that you've come away and not really had enough info to know what's going on AllyPally. Hopefully you're concern will turn out to be unnecessary, but I think that as a company even if they are unsure they should try and be clearer about what any next steps should be.

I think if you go to your GP with the info they might be able to give you more info or they may be able to at least speak with your local EPAU who might be able to reassure you everything is ok, or bring you in for a free scan sooner than the 8 week one you have planned or they might take HCG blood testing which again could give you reassurance?

Allypallyjelly · 08/09/2013 18:17

Thanks thunder , thanks impatiently
Yes I think like you've suggested ill bring in my scans and reports to my gp and see what he/she says.
Well the Sonographer recommended another scan at 2 weeks and said that "give it a little time to grow" to which me and my hubs just blindly agreed. I'm hoping the bub is small because perhaps ovulation happened later than I expected so I'm actually 5wks 6 days if going by the gestational MSD of 13mm = 4wks plus 13 days.
Ill let you girls know what gp says but thank you so much you lot are so encouraging xxx

impatientlywaiting · 08/09/2013 18:41

Well it sounds like the sonography wasn't overly concerned, as their recommendation was to leave it 2 weeks, so its good they didnt seem worried.

I hope they aren't being unscrupulously vague, as in being less reassuring than they should be in the hope that you are more likely to pay again to have another scan. Is this third one at the reduced rate if £30 AllyPally or back to full price?

impatientlywaiting · 08/09/2013 18:42

** sonographer not sonography - damn autocorrect

moominleigh94 · 08/09/2013 18:45

Hugs allypally , hope all is ok.

Allypallyjelly · 08/09/2013 19:41

thank you impatiently - i think she says that it is too early to say so let's wait 2 weeks and that the scan didnt reveal anything to be worried about i.e.when i spoke about the spotting and cramps she said she couldnt see any bruises or bleeding in the uterus so they may be old implantation blood. no, the 2 weeks scan from now will be at full price but i am not going to the same place, my husband has bought the session from babybond in harley street.
well my symptoms have kind of diminished - other than still waking up at ungodly hour to the loo and from not wanting to eat at all to being overly hungry , everything else is like BAU.
thanks moomin xx

McRedHead · 08/09/2013 20:34

Hello all! I was going to post last night, but really had nothing to tell. No symptoms to report and still not very sure of my dates!

But woke up this morning to ridiculous looking rash across my whole tummy, chest, back and hips! Thankfully a trip to trip to out of hours and a prescription for diprobase has put my mind at ease! So with that, and now very tender bb, definitely feeling a whole lot more pregnant!

Can't wait for my booking appointment to come through so I can be more sure of my dates! :)

5-8weeks

thistlelicker · 08/09/2013 21:01

Hi! Hope everyone is well! I've had a little scare
Today with a tiny bleed and Egu have done another hcg and progesterone!!! Last Saturday my hcg was 277 today it's 3179b!!!!!! My progesterone is 59.1 but I don't know what that means! Anyone help?

moominleigh94 · 08/09/2013 21:27

Can't pretend to know anything about all this stuff thistle but big hugs for you :) But if you've got high HCG, that's a good sign isn't it?

thistlelicker · 08/09/2013 21:32

I hope so!;-)

mrsmummytobe · 08/09/2013 22:39

Fx for you allypally. How frustrating! Really interesting to hear of yours & mcbaby's experiences of early scans - we've paid to have one on 22nd. I will be exactly 7 weeks pg by then & apparently they offer them from 7-11 weeks but now I'm wondering if 7 weeks is a bit too early after reading your story allypally. Also has anyone got experience of a transvaginal scan? Sounds like it might be quite painful!

mrsmummytobe · 08/09/2013 22:40

Hope you're ok thistlelicker! I have no idea what those numbers mean either I'm afraid but sounds good :)

YikesHereWeGo · 08/09/2013 23:02

mrs - I've had a fair few dildocam scans Wink - not at all painful, just a little un dignified - but then we'll have to get used to that being pg!! 6.5 weeks onwards is generally ok to see a heartbeat. I'm going for a scan on Arthur's when I'll be 6+2, so it will be touch n go whether it's too early. You should be fine.
