Had leaflet through today, Asda baby and toddler event starts 26th Aug! I will buy some nappies then! Smile

Tarlia · 16/08/2013 21:08

Starting to get a bit worried about these braxton hicks, I'm having lots. Some of which I have to concentrait on my breathing through. I'm sure it's not labour - I'm only 33 weeks tomorrow and CTG earlier was showing 2 small and 1 medium in the 20 mins when they were monitoring baby.
What could be causing so many? I shouldn't be worried about them should I? I mean they either turn into labour or they stop, right?

Natalieand · 16/08/2013 21:12

It may well be worth going in for another monitor tarlia especially with your PE. U shouldn't have to breath through a Braxton hicks contraction it should be painless. And if u are In the throws of labour u don't wanna leave it till last minute to get to hospital as they can give drugs in early labour to stop it on some occasions x

Soupqueen · 16/08/2013 21:20

I came on to moan about horrible heartburn, stressy day at work and having been awake since 3am, but 34pinklady's news just puts it all in perspective.

Huge congratulations, very glad to hear of Josie's safe arrival and that she is doing so well.

tarlia, I would phone up to see if they want to see you, best to err on the side of caution?

natalie, I mean this gently, but yes I do think it's a little ridiculous to put off packing your nursery bag because everything has to be new when funds are so tight. At the very least, pack the stuff you have and replace it with new as you buy it, but if money is tight, should you be saving it for something you have to spend it on? I'm a total hypocrite by the way - I haven't started packing mine yet!

pinkbuttons · 16/08/2013 21:28

Love that everyone is as unorganised as I am with packing Smile my aim is to do it at 34 weeks so have 1 more week to get bits.
tarlia I would phone up too, are they regular? I had regular BH a few weeks ago and they asked me if my waters had gone or if they were taking my breath away so if they are, definitely worth phoning. Hope all is ok though. Also mine were caused by dehydration so could try a drink if that might be a problem. x

PseudoBadger · 16/08/2013 21:29

I'd call Tarlia if it were me, thinking of you x

I will most likely pack my hospital bag a week before my due date. 1. I'm totally crap at getting my arse into gear 2. I'm the most disorganised person ever 3. I can pack a suitcase for a night stay in 5 minutes as I've had years doing it week on week out.

So fear not everyone who is worried about not being ready/organised I will be way behind you all in the organisational department Smile

Natalieand · 16/08/2013 21:33

I no its rediculous soup but good suggestions too pack my older stuff now and then replace it in the bag as and when I can just incase for some reason I am unexpectedly taken in cos then ill be annoyed with myself for not having sorted something to 'make do' in the mean time.

Racheld33 · 16/08/2013 21:34

Congratulations pinklady

What a beautiful name! Hope Josie keeps getting stronger everyday and will be coming home soon Flowers

ComtesseDeFrouFrou · 16/08/2013 21:53

Those of you who are old hands at this, can I ask did anyone labour or give birth in water?

enough of this childish excitement over the first "October" baby Wink

JellyCurls · 16/08/2013 21:55

34pink congrats on the arrival of baby Josie. I hope her stay in NICU is short and she continues to make good progress xxx

Tarlia are you dehydrated? I had strong labour like braxton hicks with dc2 that had me up all night and were coming every 5 mins. Thought was in labour so called in but was false labour caused by dehydration. Whatever you should contact hospital as they will be able to advise

char1eston · 16/08/2013 21:58

I did comtesse. Was in the pool for hours and I loved it. Gave birth in there too. Only sketchy point was when they couldn't find babies heartbeat with the Doppler - I think she was passing through my pelvis at he time.
Would highly recommend labouring/giving birth in the water.

char1eston · 16/08/2013 22:01

tarlia - I have also had some braxton hicks where I have to breathe through the pain. Maybe start monitoring how regular they are so you can tell the hospital if they go on or a while?

ComtesseDeFrouFrou · 16/08/2013 22:02

Thanks Char1eston

I never thought I would want to (I'm not a bath person), but the more pregnant heavy I get more keen on the idea of not having to support my weight while I labour.

Now to my real question - what's all this about sieves? I realise what they're for of course Blush but will I really need to bring my own from home? Shock

chickieno1 · 16/08/2013 22:03

OMG!! Congrats 34pink on the arrival of baby Josie! I hope you're recovering after a scary time. Well done on feeding your little girl! Hope the days till she's home with you go quickly. [ flowers]

MrsO27 · 16/08/2013 22:52

Congratulations pinklady! Hope you all get home soon.

tuckingfits · 16/08/2013 23:03

Thanks pinkbuttons. I might make an appointment with GP,the thought of another 8 or 9 weeks of daily breathlessness is too much for me to handle at the moment!

natalie I kind of agree (kindly too) with soupqueen - if things are tight then I wouldn't worry about needing new pjs etc for hospital - especially considering the chances of leakage etc. We are fairly strapped for cash & I will be packing things I already have. Frankly,I was so gubbed after labour last time I didn't care what anyone might have thought of the state of my pyjamas. Plus we all know that the new mummies we might encounter on the post natal wards will be utterly engrossed in their new babies & if they care about anyone's appearance it will be their own!! Seems a waste of resources to buy new stuff for potentially one night in hospital.xx

SeriousStuff · 16/08/2013 23:09

Woo-hoo! Congratulations pinklady!!! First baby of many for this thread...really glad Josie's doing well. Enjoy every second Flowers

SeriousStuff · 16/08/2013 23:16

natalie don't panic about your bag, just pack what you can. Chances are many of us won't be at home to collect our bags when contractions start and will have to make do with what the hospital has! Get your nappies, wipes etc. from Aldi - really cheap and have won loads of awards.

tuckingfits · 16/08/2013 23:18

Oh comtesse don't know about bringing your own sieve! Are you doing antenatal classes? Maybe they will cover it? Or ask your midwife next time you see her... Or if you're really brave start a thread & see what other water birth mums did - I had hoped for a water birth last time but didn't happen for various reasons & I didn't even consider taking a sieve - so you're already ahead on the organisation front!!

claphammama · 16/08/2013 23:50

tarlia best give them a call and hope they stop soon and you can relax that everything is OK. Thinking of you xx

gt good they keep monitoring you. must be tiresome to have to go so often but only a few weeks left for you!

flyer I made you proud today. I wore my heels from 1pm to 8pm although took them off under the table during the dinner. A big mistake. Massive. Switched to flats later and in bed only now at 11.30pm. DP still partying.... it's been a lovely wedding in a castle in the Forest of Dean but our room is in one of the towers. Top floor. Bloody 10 flights of stairs I kid you not. Every part of my body is killing me now and I think I will spend tomorrow in bed!

pinkforboys I'm also totally fed up and bored with my wardrobe. but really trying to resist buying more at this stage - seems so close and such a waste of money... it was really nice to wear a dress today though.

off to bed now as I'm dying. earplugs ready as expect major snoring from DP later tonight. hope everyone has a restful night x

Flyer747 · 17/08/2013 00:00

Clapham well done good going on the shoe front! 7 hours of high heel wearage you should be proud of yourself!

What earplugs do you use? They never work on me and just drop out, I have considered getting some industrial type ones (honest no joke his snoring is that bad sometimes)

Glad you had a nice day.

Tarlia I hope all is ok and it's merely a case of BH x

chickieno1 · 17/08/2013 01:58

Hope all ok tarlia I would also say try and drink plenty and ring mw/unit in the morning. I get quite strong Braxton hicks as well even though they're not supposed to be painful I think they are!! Hope you can get some rest tonight.

Wedding sounds lovely clapham, all those stairs though not so much! Hope you can rest tomorrow.

A friend from work just had her baby 7 weeks early. That got me going so this am bought stuff for my hospital bag! When I got home and checked the thread saw 34pink's news! It is getting close.......

ComtesseDeFrouFrou · 17/08/2013 04:49

4am I have seen rather too much of you recently.

PseudoBadger · 17/08/2013 05:10

I hope Tarlia is ok. Also haven't seen Falcon around?
