cazboldy congratulations!

bowlfulofjelly claphammama flyer I laughed out loud at your posts, you've totally ruined the pretence I had going that I was working Grin

also claphammama only it's not the tummy that explodes made me snort laughing too.

I might as well just give up the pretence and go home Wink

Haylebop12 · 22/08/2013 15:48

When I do some odd office work for my mum I have accidentally signed the letters haylebop12, assistant secretart! Good job I noticed before I sent it!

Dd is quite interested in the baby and how it comes out etc. she knows the term placenta and umbilical cord and what they do but that's about it and ive showed her a couple vids on youtube. she did watch an episode of OBEM with me once. Oh and that it comes out my "lady bits." I second the term vagina being a little strange for a small person to use! She calls a mans bits his "man parts" since he constantly jumps all over dh frequently hurting them!!

Wickedgirl · 22/08/2013 15:56

My boys say "willy" and my daughter has always said "girl bits". Girls don't have a "child friendly" word like boys do

cazboldy · 22/08/2013 16:02

my dd's call it their mini

BowlFullofJelly · 22/08/2013 16:07

There really isn't anything 'normal' like willy for a vagina though is there? Lady bum is anatomically incorrect, 'mini', 'tuppence' and a like are all a bit cutesy. Think it was a front bum when I was little, but do remember assuring all of my classmates it was a 'virginia' when we were doing sex ed at about 9 or 10.

I've been guilty of giving people my best retards a few times in email.

Flyer747 · 22/08/2013 16:12

And they say romance is dead, DP just emailed me to tell me he had bought me a gift, this is what he has bought me:

Gillette Compatible Razor Blades
£10 instead of £34.95 (from TheGiftShop UK) for 16 Venus, M3 Power or Mach 3 razor blades, or £18 for 32 blades - save up to 71%
16 Venus, M3 Power or Mach 3 razor blades from TheGiftShop UK

A wowcher deal :-)

Is he trying to say I need to shave more often or he is sick of me nicking his razor....!

Sparkeleigh · 22/08/2013 16:36

lol! flyer reply back saying thanks and since he's giving presents early you've bought him a nose hair trimmer Wink

PseudoBadger · 22/08/2013 16:44

I've spent all day stressing about my BP which is up slightly on my home monitor, my swelling which seems to have gone up, feeling a bit weird. I thought movements were reduced but I'm happier about that now. I am so fed up with pregnancy being one long worry....

OP posts:
Pinkforboys · 22/08/2013 16:45

Oh ladies -thanks for the laughs!
I'm loving the romantic gift flyer especially at a time when you can hardly reach those bits in need of a trim!!! (Is he offering to help? Wink)

Re: lady-bits, a friend said she taught her girls the french or belgian (?) 'zizzi', which was fine until they saw the restaurant chain with the same name....

Pinkforboys · 22/08/2013 16:50

clapham I"m an architect by training but feeling less like one every day as I've been working in (related) community/charity work instead. I dream of going into interiors, or teaching, but am terrified of being that mature student and sacrificing any income for a year or two. Scary. Makes being immersed in nappies for a year sound appealing...

Q for those with Bugaboo-Bees (I've lost track who it was). I sized them up today. loved it. But my Mum got practical and asked how you keep wind and rain off bubba when they're just in the cocoon as there's no side protection as there is with a carry-cot style buggy. Any answers? Is it a prob??

PseudoBadger · 22/08/2013 16:56

Do they not have a rain cover Pink?

OP posts:
Pinkforboys · 22/08/2013 17:08

pseudo yes they do have a rain cover and nice shop lady said the cocoon is treated so it's okay with a bit of water, but my Mum was still worried about wind from the side, esp as I'll be out walking thru winter.
The carry cots are all about 5inches deep with firm sides, the Bee cocoon is soft and snuggly, but no added side protection. Hopefully it's not a problem otherwise surely there would be numerous outraged BugBee owners across the country...

claphammama · 22/08/2013 17:10

just had to do over two hours of solid work... awful

haha flyer - the most romantic gift winner! is he trying to tell you something? that's a lot of blades!!

personally I call it my hoo hoo - this is how my almost 70 years old yoga instructor in India referred to it. He was telling us to "bend forward lifting our hips so that our hoo hoo points at the ceiling". He was a very decent and respectable old family man and was saying it with a very straight and spiritual face. So, since then, it's my hoo hoo.

warlin we are best friends with my ex which is very unusual, very weird and very lovely at the same time. He is an amazing dad and he really gets on with DP so we spend Christmas days and DS's birthdays, other similar days together. He sees DS very often and lives about 5 min drive from us. My ex is a bit technologically challenged so DP always helps him do things with his phone or computer and I help him draft texts or emails to his girlfriends when he gets stuck and doesn't know how to deal with women / situations. He also shows their photos to us asking us what we think... I think we split up because we got together very young (I was 20) and after years we ended up being like brother and sister. The last years were very much like this and it had to explode at some point. This doesn't happen to everyone of course but happened to us. So it wasn't nasty at all but really heartbreaking for a long time. Sometimes I think it's even harder when you still love someone and care so much. When something bad happens, it's more black and white and you don't doubt your decisions so much. I still worry about him all the time which annoys DP a bit and always go to pick him up from the hospital when he has tests (he has some health problems) etc. Life can be so strange... Sounds like your sister is definitely better off without that guy... gambling is like a disease - it would really scare me... I'm sure she will meet someone but I understand she is worried about the timing and age... it's so hard for women when these things happen, we have so much more pressure...

PseudoBadger · 22/08/2013 17:19

Warlin a few weeks ago i mentioned my best friend's sister who had just had a baby in her mid 40s. She didn't meet the right man until she was 41 and they then had the agony of unsuccessful IVF etc. She then fell pregnant naturally just after they had given up all hope after the final IVF failed. There is always hope xx

That sounds lovely clapham I am similar with my only ever other boyfriend.... who is also my best friends brother. We talk most days, I advise him on his women problems as he calls them, and we often shop together for my friends birthday, and even go halves on pressies for her. He's lovely! Grin

Just bought a mamas and papas pram system thingy off a local facebook site, and going to pick it up in a min. only £30, and supposedly only been used at grandparents house. Looks in nice condition on the photo - I only want it for taking LO over the farm to do the calves and horses, thought the pram bit will be nice when it's freezing! Smile

MotherOfNations · 22/08/2013 17:40

Hi everyone .I had a morning of baby shopping in town planned but ds woke up complaining that he could barely walk on the foot he injured last weekend when he stupidly jumped from an 8 ft wall and landed on a rock. The result was a morning spent in A&E. The x-ray showed nothing wrong with it, he just has to rest it thankfully.

This afternoon was better. I went round to the house of a fellow mumsnetter for coffee with youngest dd. We added each other on fb a year ago after realising we stayed near each other on a meet up thread (the meet up never happened)but we finally decided it was about time we met for a coffee. She was lovely and dd loved her house as she had guinea pigs and a rabbit. I had bother getting her to leave.

Dp usually cooks Christmas dinner here too though I do have to supervise because he gets drunk and forgets to watch his timings.
It would be nice to be invited somewhere but nobody really wants to cook for 6 extra people.

With regards to rent. We're really lucky. Our 3 storey 4 bedroom housing association house is under £400pm.

I think Christmad

MotherOfNations · 22/08/2013 17:42

Very strange. Post I typed has appeared in a different order from what I typed with an extra bit on the end.Confused

MotherOfNations · 22/08/2013 17:47

Just to add , though dd knows the correct names she tends to use front bum and Willy.
When she asked how the baby got in my tummy I told her that daddy put a special seed in one of the eggs that are on my tummy. The inviteable question was how did he get the seed in so I just told her that he gave me a very special cuddle.
She knows that I'll be having a cesarean but that babies usually come out of "front bums".

BridgetandtheHairyBrigands · 22/08/2013 18:19

We have always used the terms vagina or 'privates' with DD. We never gave it any thought; just happened naturally as they're the words I grew up with.

Although DP's mum did nearly have a heart attack when DD started talking about her vagina over a family meal a year or so ago!

However, only since coming on Mumsnet and reading threads on the topic, I've realised that vagina isn't usually technically correct anyway and it's usually the vulva or labia that is being referred to...but I can't bring myself to teach DD all the various parts.

I have to confess, even as an adult and knowing it's not 'correct', I still use vagina to refer to the whole general area.

Shirehobbit · 22/08/2013 18:19

I've never really thought about lady part nicknames, but I have a friend who calls it her foof, which always makes me smile.

I've not seen my ex since the day he told me he wanted a divorce. It wasn't an acrimonious split (despite him leaving me for an 18yr old), but my self preservation kicked in, big time, and there was a hell of a lot of emotional wreckage to process and it was important that he played no part in that. He is the only ex partner I was not able to have a friendly relationships with, post break-up, and there are good reasons for that.

Current DH pre-dates ex-husband as an old friend, btw.

Natalieand · 22/08/2013 18:20

Wow u chatty lot

Ugh my tooth is still absolutely killing me it seems to keep changing which tooth it is that's hurting

Christmas- dh and I usually go to my mums one year then with his grandparents the next (they r equivilant to his parents to him) an they like to eat out for Xmas dinner but they always pay for us so I've never had the pleasure -stress-- of cooking an Xmas dinner as of yet. This year it should be my mums turn but, she thinks she will be working all day so not entirely sure what were planning to do tbh. We'll see.

Dd calls her downstairs a 'mini' and tbh she's never asked about dh's bits so I've never had to come up with a name for it but if she did I would most likely say its a willy. She often enquires about nipples/boobies so I just say boys have nipples girls have boobies and nipples and she seems content with that answer for now lol. When she wants to talk to the baby or feel him wriggling she always heads for the belly button and she has the impression that that's where he's coming out of but she knows mummy has to go to the hospital to get him out. Ahh the delights of a toddler lol.

Congrats to your son caz little brain box :-) u must be very proud. What is he planning to do now he's left school?

hayle did u head anymore from the letting agent after they called u for feedback on your viewing? X

I have to say after we all moaned about our dc's being handfuls the other day dd has actually been an angel today! But its bath time now and she turns psycotic when it comes too hair washing so my chilled out bliss is about to come to an abrupt end xx

Shirehobbit · 22/08/2013 18:23

How are you feeling now, Pseudo? Should you be getting some medical help?

Popped into Matalan while getting dog supplies from Pets at Home - they have oodles of button top nightdresses, perfect for bf, at only £6.
Grabbed some hospital bag bits like dark towels as well at barginous prices. Never been in there before!

Natalieand · 22/08/2013 18:27

shire did I just read that right? You've never been in matalan before ?

Shirehobbit · 22/08/2013 18:28

My family are not big on Christmas or birthdays (and as I've mentioned before, I have a difficult relationship with my Mum, anyway) so my perfect Christmas is tucked up here with DH, dog and lots of champagne.
His family go for it, big time, though. And I find their family traditions very wearing. They also unashamedly use emotional blackmail to get their way. We've negotiated a year on/off rota recently. It is meant to be a private year for us this year, but I bet they play the first grandchild card at some point to press DH to bring us down. Harumph.

Shirehobbit · 22/08/2013 18:29

Yep, Natalie - I have lost my Matalan cherry Grin
I was under the (wrong) impression you had to be some kind of member, like Makro.
