How many Cadbury chocolate fingers can you eat after a portion of chips, fish and gravy from the chippy?

This is not a joke. I actually know the answer Sad

apprenticemamma · 07/08/2013 20:12

Yep work is a bloody chore! Today I pulled over at side of rd for a snooze. A day of meetings and trying to make a useful contribution..challenging. tonight ate with ds and am chilling before cracking on with mince tatties and veg galore (random and not my usual thing) . Hunger/ greed only slightly outweighing exhaustion and the only thing to get my arse off the couch...Wink Wink

PiratesMam · 07/08/2013 20:21

Once I sit down after putting the kids to bed, that's IT - I'm good for nothing. DH not home yet but I'm about to have a nice bath so he's gonna have to make himself an omlette or something! I've just had a plate of filled pasta for the third day in a row.

I think it's now really obvious I'm pregnant. I can't do up any trousers. Had to wear a baggy shirt today when I went to my friends house. No way am I going to get away with this for another 3 weeks...Shock

Dabarai · 07/08/2013 20:32

I really love this thread - it's funny, it's sad, it's reassuring.... What a great ladies you all are. Today I come to throw my bit of wobbly, as I sadly can't drink myself senseless. Got a tenancy renewal letter today and landlord wants to increase the rent. Not too much, mind you, but it would be very difficult for us to pay, as I will be going on maternity leave next year and I earn more then my OH. :( I just want to cry, don't want to move, but might have to try to find something that is neither as big nor as conveniently located as our current place. All I can think now that I am such an irresponsible person to be bringing child to this world if I can't make sure I can afford it. Probably nothing comparing to other people's problems, but I just can;t imagine a stress of looking for a new place and moving and getting used to it. Hate it in a best of times but just can't face it now. Sob.

Sorry for being such a moan :(

rescoonetwothree · 07/08/2013 20:38

Hi all! Just went to see that alan partridge film and ate a large popcorn so am now feeling a little worse for wear!

Not sure about seeing the group on your phone but I'm pretty sure i added you to it earlier Smile

Anyone else want to be added to the Facebook group? It's all private so no one can see it or see you're in it - if so message me your profile link!

HotCrossPun · 07/08/2013 20:42

Pramala I could manage 5. Then I'd have a 3 minute break and eat another five. Repeat accordingly.

PramQueen1971 · 07/08/2013 20:43

Dabarai, I'll join you on the pity couch for housing traumas. My landlord is tearing our house down in five weeks and building six houses in its place, which means we have to get out. We'll never afford to rent anywhere else in this village and it's so beautiful and full of old codgers tranquil. I don't work and I used to feel guilty that we were planning a family when we don't have a car or a mortgage and only one of us works. Neither of us smokes or drinks and we are really good people, though, so now I don't give it a second thought.

PramQueen1971 · 07/08/2013 20:45

Hottie, take away the 3 minute breaks and you've pretty much nailed it with that guess.

HotCrossPun · 07/08/2013 20:53

I wish more people called me Hottie Grin

Well that's impressive. DP went to the sweetie shop earlier and asked me what I wanted. I asked for a Kit Kat Chunky (peanut butter obvs) a bag of Bobbys cheese curls and 2 dime bars.

He had the good grace to comply and not comment.

He's been known to get up in the middle of the night and eat half a jar of jam though and he's not even pregnant!

rescoonetwothree · 07/08/2013 21:05

dab don't be so hard on yourself! i think generally the things we fret about isn't going to affect how much love you can give a child! 100% agree with pram!

i'm also having housing issues, but am so glad we can get a normal family home now not a show-off impractical place (my partner is a bit that way inclined up to now)!

we're torn between where i'm from which is where we used to live, it's perfect but expensive for what you get, and where he's from which is cheap and good value for money, but newport. also his family would live near and it will be more awkward when we don't give them our address if we're just around the corner (long story) - having such a dilemma.

SoSurprised · 07/08/2013 21:09

I have just been sick again. I wonder when it's gna stop? I need to eat some food. But every little thing I eat comes back up.

PiratesMam thanks for the suggestion. I will get se medicine tmrw hopefully.

FrankelInFoal · 07/08/2013 21:14

Hmm, I think I have the beginnings of a bump. My best friend commented on it (she's the other person that knows I'm up the duff) this evening and I swore blind it was bloating. But, having stood in front of a mirror just now and tried to "suck it all in", there's definitely a bit that doesn't go in!

I'm only 10 weeks, plus I'm reasonably slender (size 10, flatish but not taut, stomach), so I'm surprised to see something so soon.

IceNoSlice · 07/08/2013 21:15

Ok Hottie, your wish is my demand. Peanut butter kit Kat chunky mmmmm. Have you tried Starbars. Bloody lovely, they are.

Pram I can put away a lot of chocolate fingers. How are you with chocolate digestives? I have banned myself from buying either. If I do buy them, gone within 24 hours. Every time. Are you in Yorkshire BTW? I'm a Yorkshire lass but don't live there now. What's your plan for finding somewhere to move to? We moved when I was 6 months pg last time. Bloody glad we have no plans to move again. Although it was nice to have moved before the baby came as I've met loads of lovely people (mainly other new mums!) since moving and feel really settled now.

HotCrossPun · 07/08/2013 21:30

I've tried them all Ice , confectionary is a bit of a speciality of mine Grin

Dabarai · 07/08/2013 21:33

Ooooh, we don't have any chocolate at home..! Probably for the best, as I just starting to breathe in to check if I am showing at all. I think that under all that extra padding and bloated bits might be a hidden tadpole!

MTBMummy · 07/08/2013 21:39

Sorry for making you all panic - you're all allowed chocolate, I'm not because of my slightly dodgy ticker - so I have to cut out every little bit of caffeine.

Please please do eat chocolate on my behalf - it's a fair share that won't be eaten :-)

MTBMummy · 07/08/2013 21:44

If it makes anyone feel better I bought my first maternity wear last week, a couple of pairs of jeans - and it's so nice to be comfortable and not have a waistband digging into my tum

Teddybear4 · 07/08/2013 21:49

Welcome to all the newcomers! Getting busy again after our quiet (and a bit sad) days which is nice.

Who mentioned bumps? I look massive. Normally a size 10 and on DC3 so perhaps not a surprise. People seem to have given up pretending it isn't there and are just asking when I'm due, how I feel etc. All quite amusing but I hope no one inadvertently mentions it to my children (I'd rather they didn't know until after 12 week scan). I bought some maternity jeans too and they look fine -like a pregnant women with a bump should look in them... This will slow down right? Clearly not helped by the fact I seem to be practising for some kind of Eatathon....

TotalShock · 07/08/2013 21:53

What's all this talk of how many fingers you can eat?? Surely you just eat them a box at a time...? Maybe it's no wonder I'm fat.... Hmm

PramQueen1971 · 07/08/2013 21:54

Hottie, when my husband goes to the shop for me he finds it more pertinent to ask what I don't want from the shelves Grin

Grey, move to the place where you will have the most access to the ones you love. We're all going to need those people.

Ice, no, choc digestives don't do it for me. Mind you, after the rant I've just had about the diddiness of chocolate fingers these days I don't think I'll be buying them again. No, I don't live in Yorkshire, I live in Lancashire about 45 mins from South Lakes.

Th'usband has given me a stern talking-to about my paranoia regarding this pregnancy. He says I need to get a handle on my fears as we are not going to be able to rely on scans every fortnight for the rest of gestation. He's right, of course, and I'm determined to do my best to drive away these demons. I just wish my 12 wk scan wasn't at 13+3 Hmm

LyraSilvertongue · 07/08/2013 22:04

Pram, to be fair, the first trimester is the scariest bit. I think you'll naturally worry less as time goes on. We're all a bit panicky during these early weeks when things are most likely to go wrong.

LyraSilvertongue · 07/08/2013 22:06

MTB, I can't face maternity wear just yet. I'm still in denial. I lived through the whole of last winter in skinny jeans in many colours. Only one pair (the stretchy ones) fit me now sob.

PiratesMam · 07/08/2013 22:15

Lyra is right - once you can feel it moving frequently you'll worry a bit less. It's impossible not to worry though, this is 3rd time for me and I'm still worrying, although a lot less than first time around!

To more important matters - chocolate digestives. Just to ensure you all do realise the dark choc ones are FAR superior than the milk choc ones???

Generally I'm more on the savoury at the mo though. Meat flavoured crisps, chip butties and cuppasoups. And lots of pickle with everything. I think folklore (?!) would say these are baby boy cravings but my instinct is still saying this is a girl. It will be interesting to see how many of those here with bad morning sickness have girls!

HotCrossPun · 07/08/2013 22:18

I'm in the maternity wear as well. I've fallen in love with a nursing bra I bought. My boobs are so happy now. I doubt ill ever wear an underwired bra again.

Same with maternity tops, my belly has always been the largest part of me anyway, so they are perfect!

firsttimekat · 07/08/2013 22:23

I've also already given into maternity wear, bought a lovely dress on eBay for £6, still had the tags in. Just has a better cut to hide the bloating. Spent all day in my jeans the other day and regretted it by the end of the day so think that will be my next purchase. Because I'm curvy
