Oohjeffyou're going to have an actual baybee! ! How exciting to know the date etc. enjoy the time before it all kicks off...I thoroughly recommend some couple time like a meal or a day out.

Ooooo Jeff how exciting!!!!!!

HaveALittleFaith · 18/09/2013 21:10

Oh jeff I was going to ask you about meeting up but you're having a baybee instead! Squeeee! Are you nervous/excited?

JethroTull · 18/09/2013 21:41

There's still a chance that MiniJeff might move. I get a scan on Monday morning & if baybee has flipped then I get sent home. That would mess with my head now so I'm sort of willing it to stay put. It's taken me a while to come to terms with a section.

I'm excited & nervous. I'm also ready to meet him / her - feel like another couple of weeks of being a differ would push me over the edge. SmileSmile

Ginfox · 19/09/2013 11:44

Hello luffly ladies. I have a story to relate (get comfy).

At work on Tuesday, starting bleeding quite heavily, no cramps, feeling fine but terrified. Fearing the worst, took a taxi home and headed straight for local gynae ward (on GP instructions). Told me 99% sure I'd miscarried, booked scan for today to see if I would need an op.

Yesterday...longest...day...ever (bleeding had now stopped, just pinky fluid now and then).

Today, scan showed 1x empty sac, and 1x full-of-healthy-baby sac (nearly 10wks, so further on than I thought).

Torn between feeling happy we are still diffed, sad for loss of Smallest, and relief that we aren't having twins (also feeling much shame about feeling relief IYSWIM).

But mostly...Yay!

Ginfox · 19/09/2013 11:49

Very exciting Jeff, but it would be weird to have psyched yourself up for Monday, only to be told to go home and wait.

On the other hand, you are def going to meet your baybee very soon, one way or t'other, so huzzah!

FrankelInFoal · 19/09/2013 14:51

Gin, firstly sorry for your loss and glad to hear that the other bean is safe and well. What mixed emotions you must be feeling. I'm pretty sure a similar thing happened to another ESH in the last year or so.

Had my 16w check today: all well and the bloods and tribe came back "perfect" according to midwife Grin. Also hot to hear baby's heartbeat for the first time

JethroTull · 19/09/2013 17:24

Sounds very traumatic GinFox, glad that your other bean is staying stuck.

Hurrah for hearing the heartbeat Frank. It was that little sound that made things 'real' for me at 16 weeks. I went to the appointment on my own because SSG was abroad with work. I cried in the car after that appointment. I just felt so bloody relieved!

I've had such a lazy day today. Went to a friends house for lunch then cane home & have sat on the sofa watching catch up tv. It's all a bit mental thinking I will have a baby next week.

pinkr · 19/09/2013 20:53

gin I saw that on t'other place and was typing a reply when a major Poo explosion distracted me. Glad everything is ok.
Oh Jeff this time next week you'll be sat cuddling your wee one and looking at their little face...its strange as I know her face so well and almost recognised her as soon as she was born!
Little pink was weighed today and is now 8lb 12..so she's put on 10oz since last weigh in two Weeks ago. I have a cracked nipple that just won't heal up however and its getting me down.

JethroTull · 19/09/2013 21:36

It's mad. I will go to hospital on Monday & when I come home it will be with a baby! Pink I've been wondering what miniJeff will look like & if I will think - "oh of course that's you" or if it will take me a while to get used to them.

So I'm sat on the sofa watching my whole bump move around. I just saw a foot and maybe a knee Grin

HaveALittleFaith · 20/09/2013 07:52

Gin I did reply on t'other place but what a mix of emotions. I guess all you can do is give yourself time to process it and focus on your wriggly baybee.

Oh Frank I cried when I heard the heart beat too! Such s wonderful sound :)

Jeff yup, totally mental that you've been growing the baybee all this time and suddenly they'll be out! How many weeks are you? I found when Faithlet came out she didn't look how I'd imagined at all (especially since she was tiny and I'd anticipated a 7/8lber!) but she behaved just like she did inside, even down to the way she kicked her left leg out (which had been battering my right rib!). It was surprising but familiar. What was funny was I knew her cry immediately. We were in a bay with 6 other Mums and babies but if I put her down to go to the loo I could tell if it was her crying before I got back!

FrankelInFoal · 20/09/2013 08:12

Right PESH, I need some reassurance please. I know I'm getting way ahead of myself and probably over-thinking, but I'm worried about labour. Not the pain aspect, but the timing.

As you all know HWHNN works in London during the week and I'm really worried about going into labour with him down there and him not getting back in time. In a good run he can get from his flat/office to home in 2 hours, probably about the same for him to get to the hospital I'm going to. I guess I'm asking, how much "notice" did you all get that labour was kicking in? I don't want to call him at the first twinge, but I don't want to leave it too late.

Arrgghhhh! Stress!!

HaveALittleFaith · 20/09/2013 08:35

It's natural to worry but unhelpful! :)
Even though I technically had a rapid labour, I still had 13 hours notice. Waters went at 6.30pm. I got checked out and sent home. Started with labour pain but didn't really progress (I was 1cm at about 4am). so I was induced at 5.30am, was fully dilated at 7 and had Faithlet at 7.22am! Most first timers have a longer labour.

FrankelInFoal · 20/09/2013 09:08

Thanks Faith, those are the kind of things I need to hear!

pinkr · 20/09/2013 18:26

I was induced but mr df had gone home, about an hour away. My waters went at 6am...8cm by 830Am and baby pink born at 11pm so I guess plenty of notice too!

OP posts:
FriendofDorothy · 20/09/2013 22:14

Um, I had an unnaturally quick labour for a first timer - 3 1/2 hours from start to finish. I have been told I am a bit of a freak though so don't panic too much.

JethroTull · 20/09/2013 22:28

I'll rock up to the hospital on Monday & will wait for further instruction! Bring on the section.GrinGrinGrin

Ginfox · 21/09/2013 06:55

Frank I would say get him home at the first twinge - even if it's ages before anything really happens, you will probably feel better for having someone with you.

HadALittleFaith · 21/09/2013 18:29

I agree with ginfox, even if it's a false alarm or two before you actually go. First labours are unpredictable! Is there anyone else locally who can be with you while he comes back?

PESH I have a bra recommendation. I bought this comfort bra from Asda to wear during my op (didn't want to leak through the gown!). It is soooo comfy I don't know I'm wearing it and has easily removeable pads and easy to wap boobs out. I think it would ideal for the first couple of weeks while milk comes in. Only 6 quid too.

FrankelInFoal · 21/09/2013 18:41

Thanks, for the advice. Yes I have friends nearby who I plan on asking if they'll be on standby to keep me company/potentially take me to hospital. I've also been toying with the idea of getting a doula, the lady that runs the ante natal classes I'm starting in November offers a doula service so perhaps I'll see if I get on with her.

JethroTull · 21/09/2013 21:01

Frank I thought about a doula when we thought SSG might be in Singapore around the due date. I would still consider a night nanny if he has to go away within a few weeks of miniJeff turning up. I just think it would be so helpful to have someone that experienced around to help you through birth.

Faith thanks for the bra tip - I'm going to get a couple tomorrow, can't go wrong for £6!

My friends came over this afternoon for some pre baby 'afternoon tea', it was lovely. I feel very lucky. Can't believe in 48 hours I won't be pregnant anymore and miniJeff will finally be here Grin

FrankelInFoal · 21/09/2013 21:40

Wow Jeff, it really is that soon isn't it!

I've thought about the doula thing before, what with HWHNN's job meaning the potential for him being sent off at short notice. Thankfully he's planning on taking 2 weeks holiday immediately after his paternity leave so we'll have a full month together to get to know the turnip (as he/she has become known) Grin

pinkr · 21/09/2013 22:35

Oh Jeff the countdown begins! hard to believe for me that little pink is four Weeks old tomorrow! !
The poor wee soul had spent the last five hours screaming the place down...we've not had a poo four a while and I think its trapped gas. Mr df is giving me a break from rocking and rubbing...I feel like crying seeing her in obvious discomfort. Praying she'll pass it soon...we had a brilliant night last night too with only one waking and a four and a half hour interrupted stretch of sleep. Oh yes just realised that in the last month i've never slept for longer than three hours in one go..

OP posts:
JethroTull · 22/09/2013 08:46

Pink I'm hoping that actually having MiniJeff will bring me better sleep!! In the past 6 weeks I've not had more than 2 hours consecutive sleep because my hips hurt so much. I'm glad in a weird way - it's made me realise what lack of sleep feels like!!

Faith was it you that recommend Orange is The New Black on Netflicks? Started watching it last night & love it!

Last day of being a preggo today. Weird weird weird feeling.
