HaveALittleFaith · 13/09/2013 16:22

Hmm holiday is all well and good but there's no space for a travel cot and a bed so Faithlet and I are bed sharing while MSB is in a small room. Faithlet had been waking most nights at home but seems to regard co-sleeping as an all night buffet! I'm looking forward to going home for a rest! My sympathies pink.

Nah it's been nice, I don't recommend this accommodation though, bit naff. I'm trying to persuade MSB the best thing is to buy a VW camper!

pinkr · 13/09/2013 19:12

Well she slept perfectly last night...two feeds bit straight back down! Today was our first outing just the two of us to a local breast feeding group. Brilliant to get out the house!

MsJupiterJones · 13/09/2013 19:42

That's great pinkr, about the sleeping and the bf group.

JethroTull · 13/09/2013 21:00

Sounds like you're doing brilliantly Pink! It's lovely to hear some positive stories - long may it continue. GrinGrin

pinkr · 14/09/2013 11:45

Oh its all positive really...I think we've got the feeding cracked

She's so funny..pulls the cutest faces etc. going to join a few more groups next week and get walking more also. We're off for a day trip to st Andrews today...its where Mr df and I had our first proper date after our initial meet. He's keen to get me out of the house I think after being in most of week. Today well be our first out of house feeding and changing etc eek.

Pink you're brave going such a distance for your first trip out!

We went to St Andrews when J was about 2mths old. After a couple of disastrous nappy changes, didn't have any clean clothes for her (couldn't justify buying more) so we took her home dressed in a vest and wrapped in mummy's scarf.

Will be better prepared for such things when cub #2 arrives Grin

pinkr · 14/09/2013 21:21

We had a great day...lovely weather and a fab walk. Sandwiches on a bench overlooking the sea and then a walk on the beach. The only tricky thing was trying to change nappy in the back of the car but we managed!

OP posts:
HaveALittleFaith · 14/09/2013 22:24

Well done team pinkr! Changing in the car gets easier with practice :)

We are home. Faithlet was very well behaved - slept for a good 2 hours, happily woke at service station for bum change and refuelling (of people, not car!) and I entertained her in the back. Only last 10 minutes was she inconsolable! We enjoyed the holiday but it is so nice to be in our bed and have her in the cot

How are the differs?

SinkyMalinks · 14/09/2013 22:55

Glad to hear day out was luffly and smooth!

I'm good. Ghj is back from his travels tomorrow, which is a relief.

I've decided I'll probably need a winter coat (not sure layering and a scarf will cut it in feb! I can't do links, but does anyone have an opinion on the mammas and papas cape? (They only have 2 coats. It's the capey one...). Quite like, but worried I'll look more like the side of a house than I'll need too. Help! (Alternative solutions are also welcome!)

FriendofDorothy · 14/09/2013 23:26

I had a really nice monsoon swing coat. I had it way before I was pregnant tho was it was perfect.

SinkyMalinks · 15/09/2013 07:07

Thanks dor. Sainsburys has a nice looking (non matty) cape coat but never bought a coat from a supermarket and a bit worried at £40 it won't be warm.

I fell in love with one from Joseph. It cost £599. This isn't helping...

HaveALittleFaith · 15/09/2013 08:26

I wore one that I inherited from my Mum (non-matty) It was a size too big so roomy and lasted me - I even wore it to the hospital when I was in labour! Sick of the sight of it afterwards though so gave it to my diffed sister. She bought a cape from Next too,

FrankelInFoal · 15/09/2013 08:36

Haven't got so far as coats yet, but I dd have a bit of a spree in JoJo Maman Bebe yesterday - a very comfy pair of work trousers, two tops and a pair of jeans. They said their winter range is due to be released fairly shortly so hopefully there will be a good selection amongst that.

Otherwise, I'm good. Still knackered and find I can't eat as much as I used to - cant physically fit it all in!

I got a few books out of the local library on babies/parenting and am loving reading First Time Parent by Lucy Atkins. It's got good practical advice (plus photos of stuff like how to change a nappy!) and does not preach a specific "method". I shall probably buy a copy as its only £9.

SinkyMalinks · 15/09/2013 18:47

It's just so cold these last few days Frank! I wanted a new winter coat this year anyway, so normally, I'd have got a lovely new one by now. Instead I'm sadly pulling out my old one that's a bit shiny on the elbows! If jojo are getting stuff in soon I might hold out.

Are your jeans nice? The straight leg ones I returned had a pink diamanté butterfly on the back pocket Hmm. Not really me... I have another pair on order!

Books sound good. I've been given The Baby Whisperer. It's meant to be a bit like gina ford (so it has very clear advice and suggestions) but manageable without going totally baby crazy. So I'm told.

Faife, Next is a good idea. I'd actually not thought of looking there. Off to their website...

FriendofDorothy · 15/09/2013 19:36

Next maternity stuff is really good and you can return to store. My bear but from there was a pack of three mat vests. Kept everything warm and nice and long. I am still wearing them!

SinkyMalinks · 15/09/2013 19:54

Next don't have any maternity coats. And most of the normal "coats" are blazers. Disappointing. (Although was a quick look through the thumbnail pictures)

I always have a bit of builders bum problem (damn pear shaped ample bum!). I think I would invest in some mat vests now if v long. Was thinking of a bump band today to keep warm and keep my bum covered when running a hockey touch line!

HaveALittleFaith · 15/09/2013 20:13

I would like a new coat from Next but too was disappointed with the selection. I liked one but it was £150! Shock it was a label thing apparently I'm not cool My sister got this cape. Actually I bought a cream gilet that I wore til it got really cold. MSB said I look like a sheep but I luff it.

Vests wise I had a couple of maternity ones including a nice one from New Look (have you tried there?). My friend gave me a breastvest this week - it's brilliant! Easily accessible buzzwams for feeding but long and covers tummy!

SinkyMalinks · 15/09/2013 20:20

That's a nice cape faife. But it's quite cheap - is it coat-y or more jumper/shawl?

HaveALittleFaith · 15/09/2013 20:24

I guess more shawl. She's bought it as an extra layer for work to sling on over long sleeved tops etc.

FrankelInFoal · 15/09/2013 20:36

TK Maxx have got loads of long, baggy jumpers and cardigans in now for the winter. Could be an alternative to maternity gear.

FrankelInFoal · 18/09/2013 20:00

Evening all, hope everyone is ok.

Jeff how are you feeling? Nearly time!!!!!

Pinkr hope things continue to go well.

I've got my 16w appointment tomorrow, I've got my notes and things together but can't find my nuchal scan results to take with me. Will the midwife tell me off for not bringing them? Blush

HaveALittleFaith · 18/09/2013 20:19

Shouldn't be a big problem Frank, I'm not sure mine even looked? Did you get a letter with your combined bloods and Nuchal odds?

FrankelInFoal · 18/09/2013 20:28

Yes, 1 in 9,200

FrankelInFoal · 18/09/2013 20:29

Oops, posted too soon! It's the letter I can't find!

JethroTull · 18/09/2013 20:58

Don't think mine ever asked me about mine either.

Looks like I am having an ELCS on Monday. MONDAY!!!
