The one where hopefully we are feeling less nauseous and knackered (although we develop hippo hands and feet due to the heat!), we are entering or are in our second trimester (phew!), we continue with 12 week scans and test results (ekkk!), we have 16 week midwife appointments and hear the heartbeat (OMG - aw!), we potentially see the beginnings of bumps and feel the first flutters of movement (wow!) and the 20 week scan for some is just around the corner! Grin

Oh and we try to improve our diets after surviving on one food group during the first trimester!!! Wink

Bring it on thread 7!!!

(pod hope I did you proud)!

penny I will be the same, but once I see bubs wriggle on the screen am hoping I will calm down! Wink

Toby that really is ridiculous! As u say, who doesnt keep the old system running as a safety net until they know the new one is solid? Their head of IT wont be popular! Sad

Congrats on the scan penny!

book and Toby I hope your hospital gets its arse in gear soon!

Finally bought some buttons for the little Cardigan I've knitted today, very proud of myself now it's finished!

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 05/08/2013 22:47

penny oooh a girl! How lush!

Toby I am still appalled at WHH and the shit they've put you through. It's ridiculous - it's been SIX WEEKS FFS. Sort it out. I'd be thinking along the lines of formal complaint at this stage, but I think you are a much nicer, calmer person than I not that that's hard, ragey-brain today

Itchy like a mo'fo tonight. Grrr.

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 05/08/2013 22:47

sultana 19+3 you say, okay that's reassuring. Bump has ONE WEEK and then I am 'aving a very stern word. Grin

TarkaTheOtter · 05/08/2013 23:17

Wow book and toby, your hospital sounds worryingly incompetent! Can you transfer to another? I'm guessing probably not as that would give them some incentive to get their act together.

TobyLerone · 06/08/2013 08:32

I don't think there's any point in making a complaint. It's a computer system. What can they do about it now?

Also no point in transferring (not that I would -- the others are too far away) because this doesn't only affect the WHH. It's the whole trust, and another 3 in Kent (Dartford, Medway and Tunbridge Wells), which must be all of them.

It's just one of those things. Ordinarily I wouldn't have to worry about it after 20 weeks because I wouldn't need any more scans. But I'll be having them at 20, 28, 32, 34, 36, 38 and immediately pre-delivery, so I'd better get used to it!

MrsAVB · 06/08/2013 08:43

Morning all! Congrats on team pink penny!
toby sounds very annoying... Grr!
At my hospital they do this next scan between 20 and 23 weeks, mine is at 22, boo, but the last few weeks seem to be going quickly and I don't want to wish it away!
Am definitely feeling movement; have any of your DPs felt it yet? I think it's probably too soon to feel from the outside, plus DH gets bored after about 5 seconds and bean won't perform on demand anyway! Exciting though!
Have a good day all
X

Sultanajo · 06/08/2013 11:32

mrsg thats so cool! Well done you!

humpty! I cant remember who was talking about itching yesterday - well suddenly last night and this, morning I too have been more itchy than usual. A tad annoying!

OP posts:
Sultanajo · 06/08/2013 11:33

toby they had better have sorted it out by the time you are 28 weeks ffs! Grrrr!

OP posts:
Sultanajo · 06/08/2013 11:36

mrsa my DH gets bored within seconds too. I think the scan on friday will hopefully wow him again! I was getting excited each time I felt bubs move yesterday and kept telling him and I could see him glazing over! I couldnt help it! I wanted to call BBC news and have them broadcast it for me!,Grin

If we do find out what we are having on Friday there is no way I can keep it to myself! Grin

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 06/08/2013 12:42

Sultana it was driving me batshit yesterday. Better today, so I hope it keeps coming and going in waves - presume it's when my skin is stretching (yeuch)? So maybe bump is popping out more, that's a good thing.
I'm using the Oatmeal Aveeno body lotion which helps a little - oatmeal meant to be ace for itching.

Today I am mostly watching the filming of the Xtra Factor outside my office and in our Events room (makeup and sitting down space). I have never heard so much squealing in ALL MY LIFE. It's like being at the front of a Beatles concert #nanface.
Also, they ALL say 'looking good' as a greeting (these are ex-X-factor contestants). ALL of them. Is that a 'thing'?

LittlePeaPod · 06/08/2013 13:13

Congratulations Penny. Team pink.... Yeaaaaa

Mythreeknights · 06/08/2013 14:56

Is anyone else seriously up for it at the moment? I'm coming up to 17 weeks and my word, DH doesn't know what's hit him Grin

Mythreeknights · 06/08/2013 15:55

Oh and for all those itchy ladies out there - just be on the safe side: Severe itching

Severe itching could be a sign of the rare liver disorder obstetric cholestasis. (Source: NHS choices website)

lovelilies · 06/08/2013 16:15

I'm v randy too mythree although I have been pretty much all through! Blush
Re itching, someone said earlier could be a sign of anaemia so had blood done today and I'm anaemic (Hb 10.9) so going to docs for iron tabs today.
Best get your bloods done ladies Grin

Bluecarrot · 06/08/2013 16:28

mythree I'm the same since nausea stopped. Having the bleeds meant we spent time doing other uh, things than penetration for a few weeks and its been great for us.

Sultanajo · 06/08/2013 17:00

humpty thats hilarious!

Thanks mythree - my itching has mainly gone away again now - just the odd itch now and again. Think its to do with stretching and heat!

All u horny ladies out there - I was really up for it a few weeks ago before the heat kicked in. Now I can bear to be hugged let alone anything else and my nips are so sensitive that I think I would not react well to DH going near them....! Sad I did say I didnt mind doing other stuff with him but it hasnt happened yet. Plus DH freaks out touching my belly - he is super worried he is gonna hurt bubs I think bless him! Dont think he would be up for full on nooky even if I pounced on him! Blush

Sultanajo · 06/08/2013 17:02

humpty thanks for the oatie tip. May invest! Grin

love glad they have worked out you are anaemic. Seeing mw next week so will mention, but my bloods were spot on last time so hopefully its just normal itching....Smile

MrABC · 06/08/2013 18:09

Oh no toby not all this again. We've still got a few weeks until our 20 week scan so hopefully time for them to get things sorted ( although I seem to remember thinking that last time!) Just can't believe the sheer incompetence of the whole thing.

Had our 16w check up today which was great and we were able to hear the baby's heartbeat too! Wasn't sure it was going to happen after hearing a few of you ladies haven't had the option to hear it so feel really lucky that we did!

Next step will be dealing with getting the 20w scan date so that could be all sorts of fun! Still, as MrsAVB said, not going to wish the time away too quickly as I'm sure in a few months it will feel as though we blinked and it all flew by far to quickly.

Still haven't purchased anything we will need yet and the more we look into it the more stuff it looks like we need. Must look for an essentials checklist of sorts so that we know the its we MUST get - I'm sure the Mamas&Papas checklist had a few extras thrown in that we probably don't need!

Great to hear peeps are getting their blue/pink news. Although if I remember right the girls are so far outnumbering the boys!

TobyLerone · 06/08/2013 18:19

:o MrABC, I was wondering if you were still about when I posted that. My mw advised me to chase them in my 18th week if I didn't yet have a date, but as you can see, I didn't get very far!

If you don't hear anything and need the special 'East Kent Radiology Hotline' number to chase them on, give me a shout.

Glad your appointment went well :)

I have THE most annoying cough in the world. It's dry and tickly and pretty much constant.

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 06/08/2013 18:19

MrABC yay for heartbeat!
I agree on the 'what do you ACTUALLY need' list front - I had an email from Mothercare, advertising offers on 'baby essentials'. The pictures were:

  1. Baby in sleeper suit - fair enough, they need these.
  2. Toddler in activity centre/walker thing
  3. Toddler in paddling pool
  4. Mobile above crib.

I so nearly sent them a cross email, but then I realised I would make some poor person's life worse and they wouldn't be the person who'd designed that advert/email.

MrsVDB · 06/08/2013 18:42

toby I've had that frog in the throat cough thing for a few weeks now, pretty much the whole time I've been in my new job. Bet they think I'm super annoying! Got the glycerin tablets from boots but think the liquid might be worth a try?

Sultanajo · 06/08/2013 22:23

mrsv and toby how seriously annoying! Stupid coughs! Hope they both bugger off soon! No fun!

Yay mrsabc for the heartbeat!

Well after feeling movements the last two days, today bubs has decided to rest up I think. not going to panic as this is obviously normal this early, although will be reaching for the doppler in the morning despite having a scan on friday... Grin

OP posts:
TobyLerone · 06/08/2013 22:25

I've barely had any movement today either, sultana, if it makes you feel any better.

Sultanajo · 06/08/2013 22:32

Thanks toby. Who was I kidding - "I will get the doppler out in the morning..." Hilarious! Of course I went and grabbed it as soon as I finished posting! No will power whatsoever!! However, I can now go to sleep happy knowing I heard bubs! Grin
