Just on way home from early scan. All fine Grin Dates confirmed.

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 22/07/2013 11:25

Hope you are ok Mummy.
Lyra that's great news.

rescoonetwothree · 22/07/2013 11:32

sorry if everyone's already said when they're booked in for - but how far will you be for your dating scan/booking appointment?

mine's 12 weeks and it's a combined booking/dating appointment - does this seem a bit late for the booking etc?

MTBMummy · 22/07/2013 11:35

Great News Lyra

My booking appointment will be at 8+1, and only then will they book my scan, I've gone for as early as possible as it can be a real nightmare getting a scan slot, but iirc your scan only needs to take place between 12 and 14 weeks for the Nuchal fold test

rescoonetwothree · 22/07/2013 11:39

thanks mtb - i'm fine with the scan as that seems about right at 12 weeks, it;s just that it being a combined booking in means I'm essentially 2-4 weeks behind? perhaps I'm being fussy.

charley33 · 22/07/2013 11:51

Crikey so many messages since I last logged on!!

Had an eventful weekend - Started spotting a little Fri night and through the weekend (no blood though and not very much spotting at all)

Gone through thefull range of emotions to it's gonna be ok to I'm in the early stages of a mc (although last mc was very different if this is the case)

So now just confused!! Rang 111 this morning who told me I needed to speak to a GP at my practice - Just waiting for them to call me back anytime now!

Hoping I might be reffered to the local EPU for an early scan if not have my private one next Monday!

Souredstones · 22/07/2013 12:33

Best wishes mummypig

I'm bleeding again today, heavier than at the weekend. I've come into work to try and ignore it but that's not working at all.

Not sure what to do with myself really. Just clinging onto the hope the heartbeat I saw on Saturday was strong enough to withstand all this stress

Sorry for being a bit selfish and whingy, I'm not always like this.

babybear9 · 22/07/2013 12:38

Mortified totally the same which is so out of character for me! Spent 20 mins yest wondering round tesco and couldn't find anything I wanted. Rang in sick today. Thrown up three times before leaving house. Only way I can keep anything down inc water is to lie in bed. Have bucket next to me just in case!

LyraSilvertongue · 22/07/2013 12:43

Not selfish at all, Soured. That's what we're here for. Whinge away! fingers crossed everything will be ok.

LyraSilvertongue · 22/07/2013 13:26

Our very own Frankel has been quoted in a DM article about the royal birth Grin

impatientlywaiting · 22/07/2013 13:26

Sending lots of positive thoughts and fingers are all crossed for Mummypig and soured. Hope all is ok.

Mummypig let us know how your appointment goes.

FrankellyMyDearIDontGiveADamn · 22/07/2013 13:39

I know Lyra, thank god no one who knows me in real life a) knows I use MN and b) reads the DM Wink

MTBMummy · 22/07/2013 13:42

Soured - it's what we're hear for - it's a terrifying time, and one where we are conditioned not to share our news with those closest to us - but that's another rant.

Hoping little bean hangs in tight

LyraSilvertongue · 22/07/2013 14:14

Still can't believe I saw my tiny kidney bean on the screen today. He/she has legs and arms and a heartbeat! DP cried when he saw him/her Grin

Blockette · 22/07/2013 14:19

Hi everyone!

Wow that was alot of posts to catch up on!

Soured - fx everything is ok, keep thinking of that strong heartbeat.

  • I finally think I'm getting symptoms, I don't feel like I'm going to be sick, but I do feel like I have the flu or something. - I took a pillow and hid in the boardroom for a 10 min sleep and told everyone I was on a call! (It's a really quiet day!)

Also, is anyone one else struggling to brush their teeth? every time I put the tooth brush in my mouth this morning I was retching Blush

LyraSilvertongue · 22/07/2013 14:19

Now I want to tell everybody but I'm scared of jinxing it. Silly superstitions! I've told more people than I intended to at this stage.

Blockette · 22/07/2013 14:20

ahh that's lovely Lyra!

Beccadugs · 22/07/2013 14:20

Should I be worried, I have been sent to hospital with nausea and vommitting, and after prodding my sensitive tummy they want to so a scan...

MTBMummy · 22/07/2013 14:25

Becca - they're probably worried abou dehydration, which can be common with extreme morning sickness - fx for you

LyraSilvertongue · 22/07/2013 14:25

It's good that they're scanning to see that all is well.

PramelaAnderson · 22/07/2013 15:02

Hiya, I've changed my name from JuicyFatSteak (it was starting to make me feel sick Hmm).

Lyra, great news about your scan.

Mummypig, I'm hoping for the best for you.

Soured, hope the bleeding dries up, what a worry.

If I'm not around the next couple of days it's because of my pathetic broadband connection which Sky have deigned to fix on Wednesday (and I deliberately don't use a smartphone).

Does anyone remember my question about the condemned hospitals in my area and whether I can have a home birth? I'll be 42.

Rockchick1984 · 22/07/2013 15:15

Pramela they can strongly advise people not to have a home birth however (no matter what the reason) you can insist on it, and they have to send midwives out to assist you. Personally if age was the only risk factor I'd plan on a home birth, then if you develop any other risk factors during pregnancy you can always change your mind.

OnTheRunFromTheAcademe · 22/07/2013 15:17

pramela the choice of where to give birth is yours and yours alone. It is not the role of hcp's to "allow" a homebirth, they can only advise based on their clinical experience and expertise.

Legally the only way you can be forced into hospital is if you are sectioned under the mental health act. Afaik this has never been attempted with a labouring woman. If you call in labour and request a midwife to come to your home, they have a duty of care to attend and would be breaking the law if they did not send someone.

Personally, I have a mental list of circumstances in which I would rather be in hospital than at home (pre-eclampsia for example, or stargazer breech). In the absence of any of these I will damn well be staying put!

OnTheRunFromTheAcademe · 22/07/2013 15:18

Also I second what rockchick says - you can change your mind and go to hospital at any point - up to and including in labour!

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 22/07/2013 15:55

So, my question of the day: got my scan date through. It says one adult and my own well behaved children. Will I get away with taking my dcs 14 and 17? Grin they are my children and they are well behaved!
