Twinks you are 100% right of course. I have had a few sympathetic head tilts in real life when it's revealed Dd came out the sunroof. People always need to make you feel bad about yourself in some way Angry Sympathies on the 5.30 wake up. It was 6 for me and I am currently 12.5 hours into a 14 hour shift. Argh.

Lyra they wouldn't let me go past term because of the GD and DD just wasn't ready to come out yet. I got to 6cm with the synto drip and then stopped for about twelve hours. They thought it was pointless to carry on, I tried for a bit longer and then DD started getting distressed, so it became ano-brainer. How about you? What happened with your cs?

LyraSilvertongue · 21/07/2013 20:46

Similar story, Rosy. DS1's waters broke about I week overdue but no contractions. They put me on synth drip but didn't progress enough fast enough and he was getting distressed so they whipped him out.

rosyryan · 21/07/2013 20:47

Grrr. That is so not true MummyPig. The FMC scan from 7 weeks and St Thomas's found a heartbeat for me with DD at 6+5. Your GP is making me mad! I'm hoping and hoping for your little one to stick fast.

LyraSilvertongue · 21/07/2013 20:48

I don't feel bad about my cs. It wasn't my choice and at the time it was the safest thing for DS. My body is rubbish at birth but it's great at breastfeeding (fed both DSs for well over a year). We're all made different.

LyraSilvertongue · 21/07/2013 21:02

Mummypig, if you go to a&e they'll scan you won't they? It's cruel to make you wait like this.

Writerwannabe83 · 21/07/2013 21:04

Lyra I only got my BFP yesterday and already I want CS Grin

Mummypig everything crossed for you. I had a positive outcome after loads of bleeding with DS, it is so common. Hope you're resting, and manage to get a scan soon.

Wrt to birth options, I am concerned my fanjo will never recover after a second Sad It's bad enough after one. Prolapses all over the show. Although I was lucky to not need stitches.
I have visions of developing an echo if anyone was to shout up it after a second birth.

Souredstones · 21/07/2013 21:21

Welcome aboard newbies nice to see you here!

I'm feeling rough today, still bleeding and still cramping, peeing razor blades now too so think I have a uti Sad which would explain the cramping.

Scan wise I had a normal one but bean was too small so had an internal one and they showed me a very strong heartbeat and said I was about 6+3 going on measurements. So whoever was told you can't be scanned....go to the EPU via the ooh service.

Hope you're all coping in the heat.

I'm already pushing for a c section as me and my last dc nearly died in labour last time and I promised myself never again.

Sorry just seen it was mummy pig. Go to the out of hours service, that's who referred me to the EPU x

Can I just balance the birth horror stories by saying both of my labours were really fast, I didn't have any interference, episiotomies or tears (I swear by perineal massage)

The only sympathetic looks I give to CS moms is when I can see how hard it is for them to move about while I help them wash. Any w

MummyPig24 · 21/07/2013 21:26

We don't have an epu at the hospital, when I phoned last week they said I have to go to gynae and have to be referred by the gp. Bleeding has tailed off now but if I get more in the morning then I will be getting an emergency appt with the gp and demanding to be seen by someone who knows what they are doing!

Kids have been horrendous going to bed the last few nights, tonight being the worst. They didn't get to sleep till 9 so I can look forward to two very grumpy children tomorrow.

AndieDisestablishment · 21/07/2013 21:26

Gah, thumbs!

Any woman who brings a baby safely into the world, no matter how, then cares for it and nurtures it is to be commended.

MummyPig24 · 21/07/2013 21:27

My last two births were very normal and straightforward, last one pretty quick, so hopefully this one will be even quicker! Dash off to the mlu, hopefully be the only patient, pop out a baby and back home again!!

MTBMummy · 21/07/2013 21:49

mummy keeping everything crossed for you, but also think you're GP is an arse!

Welcome to all the newbies I'll update the stats thread tomorrow

x

Coolhand · 21/07/2013 22:03

Mummy I can't believe there's no access to an EPU - that's shocking. To back up what others are saying - I was scanned at 6 weeks following a m/c before. They had to do an internal scan but there's no prob seeing what's happening at this stage. Got everything crossed that all is okay.

Rosy I know what you mean about the sympathetic looks. I find some mums are almost 'competitive' about their birth stories. We're all different shapes and sizes and babies get themselves into all sorts of weird positions. Those that have good birth stories to tell, I love to hear them because they can encourage us so thanks for sharing those as well. But the reality is, it'll be different for all of us.

The one thing I think I learnt from last time is to go in as flexible as possible and accept that things might change course unexpectedly. In terms of VBAC, I had 2 friends who went through a VBAC in the last year. One went a dream, the other had a terrible time!

PiratesMam · 21/07/2013 22:31

The people I know who had the best VBACs didn't actually mean to have them but went into labour early! And both were very quick and easy labours so I don't think they'd change it now, although it was a shock at the time. Best laid plans etc. All I wanted with DC2 was the epidural, but it was so quick I actually only just managed to get onto the hospital bed and out she came Grin A total doddle compared to the birth of DC1 which goes down as one of the most traumatic experiences of my life (although worth it in the end obvs)

This time I am just aiming to get to hospital in time. Grin

PiratesMam · 21/07/2013 22:33

Oh and is anyone else suffering with AWFUL skin? I've got some real humdinger spots at the moment which I'm guessing is hormonal but what with bloatedness too am feeling like a right minger. Blush

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 21/07/2013 22:43

Mummy I too was scanned at 6 ish weeks when I MC in January. It was more to see where the pg was as I got pg on the pill and there's a higher risk of ectopic. That's the first thing they rule out, then there are plenty of people who see a heartbeat at 6 weeks.
TBH GPS are pretty rubbish. Mine looked up there, poked my cervix with a bit of tissue and told me it was my cervical erosion bleeding.
Personally, and I know this sounds awful encouraging you to lie, but I would go to A&E in the morning, tell them the bleeding is heavier and you've had one sided cramps and see what they do. Brown bleeding on its own could be a lot of things, but add in the one sided cramps and you have the signs of an ectopic, and they shouldn't be ignored. A scan is then a necessity.

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 21/07/2013 22:47

I'd actually quite like a home water birth, but as I tested positive for group B strep last year, ill need to be tested again and probably require IV antibiotics every four hours during labour! Sad I'm a fat bird too, so I probably won't get the local MW unit as transfer to hospital can take up to an hour. There's a MW led unit attached to the hospital but it only has 4 beds and 1 pool. The chances of getting that are slim I suppose. I'm going to insist on a home birth and hope I get the compromise of the hospital MLU. Tbh I'd just like a healthy baby, but I really missed a water birth last time, and this is my last chance.

Wuxiapian · 21/07/2013 22:50

Here, PiratesMam! Big, fat, greasy zits. Galore!

My nips are itchy, too. Anyone else's? Tut.

mummypig, I hope you're ok.

impatientlywaiting · 21/07/2013 22:54

Just catching up on this thread. Congratulations Writer, I remember you from the BFP bus. Xx

JK10 · 21/07/2013 23:05

mummy wishing everything well for u.

I haven't had spots but have bbroken out with ecsthma (can't spell!) which I haven't had for yrs!

Labour is different for everyone and for each child, I thought my 3rd would be quick and easy but he was a week late and I had to be induced due to that itchy hands thing!! Took 5 days! Was a nightmare! I swear by walking for labour to get going! So with dc4 i walked all day round the park and woods with my 3 dc's having bearable contractions, suddenly my waters went and bam! I'm needing to push in the woods!! Got to hosp at 4.55 dd born 5.00! So unpredictable! Just need to go with it!

Hi to all the new ladies and congratulations!

JK10 · 21/07/2013 23:10

saggy what is group b strep? I was told by my midwife that visited my house after baby was born that I was positive with this when they tested if my waters had broke with my dc1, and she was cross that I wasn't given antibiotics, I then questioned another health visiter what it was and what could of happened but she dismissed it and said it may of been wrong?

Lambchop14 · 21/07/2013 23:23

Takes me ages to catch up on a days worth of chat! Lol. Mummy, hope you are ok. Got my fingers crossed for you x
