Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Souredstoneshasasouredpebble · 28/07/2013 08:18

I'm pretty sure this is a boy by all the grief it's giving me!!

Had a massive bleed last night so EPU has booked me in for another scan on Monday.

This is going to be the worlds most photographed baby before its even born at this rate!!

Volleyfeet · 28/07/2013 08:26

Holycow I am so sorry to hear your news. Look after yourself.

I had an early private scan yesterday and thankfully all was well. Saw and heard their heartbeat. Think DH finally realised there is something there!! Got my 12 week scan on the 27 th August too so looks like a few of us will be busy that day! The good news is the scan put me about 4 days ahead of my dates so need to change stats list as revised EDD is 6th march!

Hope everyone else is feeling ok and not too tired and sick!

PramelaAndherson · 28/07/2013 09:45

Great news, Volley.

Soured, you are one strong lady, it must be awful seeing this constant blood. I hope your scan brings you peace.

Ice, when are you due? End of Feb?

Coolhand, we're due date buddies! Smile

Welcome, Frat.

I put 5lbs on during IVF and since the BFP another eight Sad

PramelaAndherson · 28/07/2013 09:48

...correction: another five (10lbs altogether). Do you think it could be all the drugs and injections I'm still having? My eating habits haven't changed and I'm a normal size 12 or was

JBrd · 28/07/2013 10:46

Soured - poor you, hang in there. Hopefully, you'll get a better idea of what's going on tomorrow...

Pram - hormones can really trigger weight gain, and I imagine that you've been having lots of those with the IVF, on top of the natural ones. Do you think you might have water retention? That could also be a factor.

LittleMachine · 28/07/2013 11:09

Welcome frat, congratulations.

floatyflo · 28/07/2013 11:09

Hi all

Hormones are driving me and no doubt dp mad.

Feel very snappy and tired. Luckily no sickness and the nausea seems to be wearing off.

I have my 12 week scan Aug 27tg too! Feels like absolute forever away. Luckily going away next week so that will take my mind of waiting for scan.

Whilst away we were planning on visiting a theme park. Guess going on rollercoasters are out of the question now? Or is it whilst heavily pregnant or have at least a bump, that they should be avoided?? Anyone know?

rosyryan · 28/07/2013 11:15

I imagine so Floaty Grin

Welcome Frat. I am jealous that you are so far along already!

Pram stay away from the scales. That way madness lies. I am "allowing" myself a weigh in once a month and my next one is not due for another two weeks so no idea if I have put anything on yet. I feel like a barge though.

Stay strong and positive Sour and remember that little flickering heartbeat you saw.

I feel sick.

Writerwannabe83 · 28/07/2013 11:47

My hormones kicked in yesterday - I had a complete emotional breakdown yesterday morning - tears pouring out of me over something to do with the hoover Hmm

Last night me and hubby had a row - that at the time I thought was completely justified but in the light of morning was clearly down to me being crazy!!! I was shouting and crying and awake until gone 03.00am fretting about it.

Today I have also been a bit snappish.

I'm just so tired though - don't think that helps x x

Coolhand · 28/07/2013 12:41

Pramela I may have got it wrong - as my pregnancy app said 9 weeks today - oops! My EDD is March 2nd (haven't corrected that one on stats list yet) but wouldn't be surprised if it changes at scan anyway. I'm not keeping track of weight - I agree, that way madness lies!

The TED talk is available here www.ted.com/talks/annie_murphy_paul_what_we_learn_before_we_re_born.html

In short, babies know mum's voice and if you repeatedly read it the same passage in pregnancy it will recognise it after birth. After 7months babies' tastes begin to be shaped by the flavours of what their mums eat - in a study mums had to eat particular flavours (anise) and their babies had a preference for it from day 1 while other babies found it repulsive. Also, babies bodily systems adapt to the cues they get from mum about the environment they will be born into - is it stressful, is it calm - to help them survive. Babies whose mums have been through traumatic events in pregnancy will be more prone to post-traumatic stress disorder. That's probably a terrible summary but I think it's the gist of it! It means from 7 months on I'll be eating lots of broccoli, fish and things I want this baby to like!

Coolhand · 28/07/2013 12:42

Oh Soured you're having such a hard time. Really hope all okay and that scan tomorrow provides more reassurance.

MummyPig24 · 28/07/2013 12:58

Soured I'm sorry things are still crap for you.

I am being so grumpy to dh. Poor man!!

PramelaAndherson · 28/07/2013 13:26

Crikey! I was just about ready to leave for church when I get a phone call from some midwife wanting to come and do my booking-in. She's only just left! Because it's a Sunday she couldn't ring the hospital for a 12 week scan date so she will do that tomorrow. She's my one-on-one midwife which means she always comes to my home and from week 15 she will bring her machine so we can listen to baby's heartbeat smile

Apparently, I am being so looked-after because this is an IVF baby. The bad news is she said my consultant will not allow this baby to go full-term as they know how precious these babies are to us and we've been through so much to get here they want to avoid any complications. They absolutely would not, she declared, allow the pregnancy to go over forty weeks. She would be looking at an induction around 38 wks Confused

So, Coolhand, we wouldn't be due date buddies anyway; if I don't get my way it looks like this baby will be making an appearance in mid-February Sad

IceNoSlice · 28/07/2013 13:27

Pramela, EDD from first day of last period is 26 Feb but it took ages to translate to a BFP so I'm pretty sure I will be later than that when I get a 'proper' EDD at the dating scan.

Grumpy folks- as Olivia would say, Peace and Love!

It's still baking hot here. We had a bit of rain yesterday evening but not that much. When will it cool down?

HamwidgeAlive · 28/07/2013 13:52

Soured it must be really hard going through that. Have they said to go back if it doesn't stop soon?

Ah thanks ladies, I know I'm being daft about DS. He loves babies and would love a sibling to play with. I've gone all PFB!

Booking in went fine, have to wait for a scan appointment in the post. Last time I didn't book in til 10+1 and got a letter through at about 11.5 weeks for a scan at 12+1 so pretty efficient really. Hopefully I'll get more than a few days notice this time though!

Souredstoneshasasouredpebble · 28/07/2013 14:00

Thank you all for the kind words, I'm so stressed out at the moment it's not funny. I had hoped it would stop now, although it is now a lot lighter than it was, just hope it's a good sign.

Not sure what they are going to do if it keeps going, hoping they will say or suggest something tomorrow

So much for pregnancy being the one time in your life where you didn't have to deal with sanitary wear!!.

FraterculaArctica · 28/07/2013 17:25

Thanks all and hello! rosyryan I was on a work trip in the US between what I now think was 3+6 to 5+0, so just thought my period was affected by the air travel and jet lag!

Going to book a GP appointment tomorrow and take it from there...

Rockchick1984 · 28/07/2013 17:59

Floaty there was a thread on pregnancy earlier about bouncing on a trampoline and it can cause placenta to detach - not sure how true/accurate but personally wouldn't risk any big rides (although would probably go on kids stuff). Maybe check with mw or dr?

AndieDisestablishment · 28/07/2013 20:50

Just to add to what Rock said, Floaty it's the adrenaline from roller coasters that is bad for baby, your body releasing extra adrenaline will obviously pump some through the placenta and push baby's heart rate up.

lumpylumps · 28/07/2013 20:57

Evening, can I join?? I'm hopping over from the Feb bus!! My LMP was actually 4th May. I did a test 8 weeks ago that was negative, did another 4 weeks ago that was positive so I put the 1st down as a false negative. Enjoyed the last 4 weeks of increasing nausea, tiredness, mood swings, got to my 12 week scan on Friday to be told that I'm only 7+6!!! Talk about gutted, as if pregnancy isn't long enough without adding an extra 4 weeks!!

Anyway, there was a baby, and it had a nice strange heartbeat. A part of me is worried that I should still be 12 weeks and the baby isn't developing properly but neither the sonographer or mw even hinted at that and I'm booked in for another scan in 4 weeks!

EDD 8th March, 3rd baby!!!

JK10 · 28/07/2013 22:54

holycow so so sorry, wish u lots of luck

JK10 · 28/07/2013 23:05

Thank u to all the nice comments on thurs reg my gp app! Really appreciate it! Felt kinda rubbish after that so was nice to hear your comments!

I've been reading along each day but just do busy it has taken me a while to get up to date! Welcome to the new guys! Wow! lumpy can understand u feeling gutted!! Just reaching 2nd trimester and Bam! Put back 4 weeks! On a
positive note though, at least everything looks healthy.

soured hope scan goes well for u.

pram what are they planning at 38 weeks? A CS or induction? Would u rather go to term?

coolhand that ted talk thing looks kinda interesting! May have a read up!

PramelaAndherson · 28/07/2013 23:55

An induction, JK, can you believe it? All because it's an IVF baby and 'precious cargo'. What bullshit.

MummyPig24 · 29/07/2013 06:51

Pramela I've never hear of an ivf baby being induced before term. I can see their logic but surely the baby will come when it's ready, and won't it be extra stress trying to force the process? It's important that you are happy with the decision.

I've got my booking in appointment today at 3. So not looking forward to it. I hate having blood taken and I always feel faint and shaky. Any tips to avoid that?

lumpylumps · 29/07/2013 06:56

My friend had an ivf baby, they wanted to induce her but the only reason that they could give was like you said because the baby was precious. She refused and that was that!!
