Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

mummypig I'm not good with needles so I asked if I could lie down and she was fine with it. Eyes closed and focus on deep breathing, then don't try to get up too quickly just take as long as you need. Oh, and have some chocolate in your handbag for a sugar boost if needed or as a reward afterwards for doing well

Pram I wouldn't agree to induction in those circumstances - surely all babies are precious and the earlier inductions are the more they lead to intervention! Just see how you feel nearer the time, don't let them pressure you if you don't want it!

Got another scan this morning, am so nervous, wish me luck!

MummyPig24 · 29/07/2013 07:54

Thanks Rock, I will ask to lie down. I don't know why I get like that. I don't feel nervous before or worried that it will hurt because I know it doesn't really. It's just afterwards I get hot and sweaty and sick! Good luck for your scan today.

faithfulandtruthful · 29/07/2013 08:14

Mummypig as Rock said ask to lie down and explain why, I used to suffer very badly with faiting when poked with needles but lying down really helps. Take your time getting back up too, chocolate sounds like an excellent plan!

At my hospital they have also stopped alcohol swabs so you don't get that stinging sensation either which I found helps too.

I cant say im looking forward to my booking in appointment which is a week on Thursday (I'll be 9 weeks + 1day) for excatly the same reason.

Best of Luck.

pram how frustrating for u, I always think that they come when they are ready, not really sure why they think 38 weeks is safer? I had to be induced with one of my babies but when I got to term last time j went for acupuncture as was determined not to be induced again. If of course there are signs of distress then of course u would listen to them but as u are being so closely monitored I'm suprised that that has already been decided for u.

mummy hope booking in goes well and I'm sure the bloods will be fine! I don't have a date for booking in or scan yet, hopefully it will come through in a couple weeks as I'm on hol over the 12 week stage.

JK10 · 29/07/2013 08:30

rock good luck today x

FoxMulder · 29/07/2013 08:47

Does anyone know what this rash-thing is I seem to have? I've got loads of red marks, like insect bites, clustered on my crotch! It's where my knicker line sits on my thighs. Never had anything like this before.

LittleMachine · 29/07/2013 08:49

Good luck Rockchick. Hope your scan goes well.

I have my scan at half 6. I'm very nervous.

Souredstoneshasasouredpebble · 29/07/2013 08:51

Good luck with the blood test! Lay down and look away. I have my booking in appointment this week and am bricking it!

Nervous about my scan today but am taking it as a good sign that I've been throwing up all morning...Envy

rosyryan · 29/07/2013 09:14

Everyone seems so far ahead of me! 6 weeks today. Private scan booked for next Monday. Time is dragging.

Hope everything goes well today Rock and Soured.

Pram I would be loathe to be induced unless there's was a medical reason. I was induced at term with DD for GD and it was a complete farce. And that's two weeks later than they are proposing with you!

stephie101 · 29/07/2013 09:45

Scan day number 3....shoukd be 7 wks +6
Epau said i can pop in weekly if i get worried....i just want reassurance really....

LyraSilvertongue · 29/07/2013 09:54

Pramela, I wouldn't accept being induced so early if I were you. I was induced with DS1 and it ended in an emcs. Induced labours tend to lead to lots of other interventions. I say let your precious cargo come when he/she's ready.

Souredstoneshasasouredpebble · 29/07/2013 09:57

So i get here to the EPU and the person who made the appointment has booked me in under the wrong week. The ladies here said there is no point being here next week if the bleed was this week and I need scanning today. So they're gonna try and squeeze me in but could be here a while.

Was going to try and go back to work today. Dunno if I'm going to make that now!

Rockchick1984 · 29/07/2013 10:07

Good luck Soured hope they squeeze u in.

Scan went brilliant, heartbeat strong and measuring 2 days ahead Grin

MTBMummy · 29/07/2013 10:09

Morning all, and welcome to the new additions - stats will be updated later, when I'm not having to make a mad dash to the loo to throw up - feeling so awful, I thought last week was bad, but today it's even worse.

I'm not sure who mentioned the localised stabbing pain, I'm also getting it on my left side, it's always the same spot and I can point out exactly where it is - as I'm only 6 weeks, it's apparently not much of a concern, but I have been told I need to go for an early scan next week to just check it's not ectopic.

Good luck mummyPig if you have the normal local midwife, you might be lucky and find she's her normal useless self and forgets to do the bloods (she forgot every single one of my tests with DD, and never booked in my induction, in case I went over due because she "was sure I'd be early" - stupid woman! Actually looking to sign up to the other local surgery so I don't have to deal with her again)

Good luck Soured - I hope you get seen soon, I think write work off for today and just try and relax

Souredstoneshasasouredpebble · 29/07/2013 10:37

Bean is well and measuring 8 weeks. Puts me a day ahead of my dates but its all good. The lady who scanned me thinks the bleed is coming from my cervix as has no indication of bleeding round baby.

She did say bleeding can last up to 15 weeks. Hope it doesn't!!!! I want to relax at some point!!

I've come into work. Will see how I get on.

FoxMulder · 29/07/2013 10:44

Great news Soured!

Beccadugs · 29/07/2013 10:46

Really pleased for good scans!

It has taken me nearly 2 hours to catch up having been in the Scottish wilds for the last few days!

I also have the left sided pain, have been scanned so not ectopic. Think for me it might be to do with being so bunged up... It gets worse when I can't poo Blush

LyraSilvertongue · 29/07/2013 10:50

Great news, Soured Smile

Coolhand · 29/07/2013 11:28

Pram agree with everyone else here. Towards the end if you're feeling anxious and you want to go early, then fine. Otherwise, there is no real medical reason for it. Induction is more likely to lead to medical interventions as well.

Mummy I have low bp and am similarly inclined to faint (though some people are def more skilled at taking blood than others). I usually tell them I'm inclined to faint at outset and they will then suggest I lie down. I have tiny thread like veins as well which they find hard to access (took several attempts for my cs, with different people trying). They have told me to make sure I'm well hydrated as this makes it all easier. Good luck!

mimili · 29/07/2013 11:54

Great news soured

April13 · 29/07/2013 12:06

Congrats on all of the good scans :)
I have an appointment with the Dr today to see if they can help me with the constipation...my MW said they could...... Got my scan date through too, 28th August, was hoping for the week before, but have booked an early scan for tomorrow, so not too concerned now -however beginning to stress like mad about the scan tomorrow-

April13 · 29/07/2013 12:16

Can someone help me with this. At my booking in appointment the MW gave me a wee bottle of vitamins and told me that as we are in Scotland I had to take extra Vitamin D. The ones she gave me had vitamin D and folic acid in them. Looking at the quantities they are the same as the vitamins I bought (and was taking) from Tesco; however the Tesco ones seem to make me feel sick, and aslo have loads of other vitamins/supplements in them so...Question; am I meant to take both sets of vitamins or just one?

MummyPig24 · 29/07/2013 12:22

soured that's great news!

MTB yes I have the useless mw. Seems she is famous for her head in the clouds approach! I said to dh as long as I don't expect anything from her then it will be fine! She said I had good veins last time so I suppose that's something.

Coolhand · 29/07/2013 12:28

Great news on the scans!

I've been fairly calm this pregnancy but have started to get very wobbly since I had the pains on Sat. I keep imagining my symptoms are declining and yet I don't really think that is the case. I just don't trust myself - can't decide whether the symptoms are in my head or whether a decline of symptoms is just my imagination! I feel too silly to go to GP as have had no bleeding and boobs still v tender so nothing to report bar a few pains! Sigh...just a wobble and need to get it together again. I wish I had a scan date to make it all more real!

TotalShock · 29/07/2013 12:33

Hi everyone, all the lady's that have had early scans and had a problem in the past - have you had to book a private scan or have the doctor or mw booked one for you. The doctor told me 2 weeks ago he would send a letter for me but no contact from anyone. I having booking app on Thursday and will ask but on the phone MW said they couldn't do it and epau said only if I start bleeding. I'm a drepressive person and my only experience with pregnancy was the mmc so was hoping for a little reassurance this time. Have felt a little upset as I hardly ever bother anyone or go to the doctors and the one time I would like some help and reassurance no one seems interested.

Sorry for the moan its just sometimes when you read some epau saying drop in if your worried but not like that round here obviously. Just wanted to know others experiences and whether its worth calling again

Thanks x
