From the Daily Mirror:

The 31-year-old looked glowing in a cornflower blue bespoke crepe de chine dress by Jenny Packham, which refreshingly still showed a hint of a bump, as she told the crowds it was "a special time for any parent".

Has any woman, ever, in the history of humanity, gone back to a flat stomach 24 hours after giving birth? I don't think so.

IceNoSlice · 23/07/2013 20:52

Soured surely they can't discipline you if you have a doctor's note? Maybe you should tell them you're preggo. There are all sorts of employment laws around pregnancy and employers seem to back off in case they are breaking them.

IceNoSlice · 23/07/2013 20:53

Lyra that dress was lovely. I'd love to get my hands on some of Kate's preggo fashion. Wonder if she'll hand them down to me?!

MummyPig24 · 23/07/2013 21:20

My boobs are already an H! They never went down after my last baby. They are seriously sore. Especially my nipples.

Lovely, lovely Kate and Wills! So happy for them!

iamusuallybeingunreasonable · 23/07/2013 21:47

Can I join you ladies please :-)

I'm 5 weeks pregnant and feel like a whale already, how I'm going to keep this quiet at work is beyond me, and suffering night sickness already, blurgh!!

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 23/07/2013 21:47

Soured do you work for a certain supermarket that starts with T?
Bastards
First thing tomorrow, go to the GP and get them to sign you off and write on the sick note that it is PG related.
If not, phone in and explain that you are PG and whats happening. Follow this up with a written letter, possibly get DH to pop it in.
Whatever happens they are screwed. You cannot legally be penalised for having time off for PG related issues. If they give you a disciplinary, take a union rep with you if you are in it.
I was fired by my employer when PG with DS. I took her to a tribunal. They chewed her up and spat her out!

Writerwannabe83 · 23/07/2013 21:52

Welcome Iamusually

I'm just entering my 5th week too, due March 31st. Smile

I'm not having any sickness yet but I can't stop weeing and yawning. My feet are a bit swollen too Grin

iamusuallybeingunreasonable · 23/07/2013 22:00

My feet hurt too, but I can't work out whether its because its hot or not, I'm busting out of my trousers with bloating and tummy aches non stop, and to top it all off I'm sat watching OBEM repeats to torture myself Confused

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 23/07/2013 22:00

Hi Iam, welcome! That sounds like more than enough symptoms! Grin

iamusuallybeingunreasonable · 23/07/2013 22:15

Indeed, I preferred a winter pregnancy I have to say

Coolhand · 23/07/2013 22:38

Soured I hope you get sorted with work. You and baby's health have got to come first - a GP should be understanding of that. It's a stressful situ to be in.

Can't remember who was talking about their healthy eating but you have inspired me to sort my eating habits out. Not really worried about weight gain (was told off by my GP 2 months after DS born for being half a stone underweight - if I'm busy I can't keep it on and DS kept me busy) but know for me and bean should be doing better. As I've been feeling tired, irritable and awful, I've fallen into the habit of eating lots of comfort food with lots of refined sugars in between meals. Really need to sort it out!

JK10 · 24/07/2013 00:11

mummy very happy for u!

soured on what grounds can they sack u? U need to go to your gp explaining how I'll u have been do at least they have it on record. Good luck! Hope u start to feel well soon

Hi to all the new joiners x

Volleyfeet · 24/07/2013 05:52

Just read the whole new thread! Are we the most chatty group ever?! Great news for saggy and mummy. Got my booking appointment today, am about 7+3 I think. Hoping to see my own little bean on sat, fingers crossed. Been feeling really sick last 2 weeks and eating very little but had a better day yesterday and immediately started to worry! Wish time would speed up a bit as really want to start telling people why I am so tired and grumpy!

MortifiedAdams · 24/07/2013 06:47

Soured being off because of pregnancy doesnt count as sickness - please.please speak to.a GP or MW.

Sorry if this is TMI but has anyone else totally gone off sex? Since becoming pg Ive felt bloated,.tired, sickly, aching, 'stretching' etc. Which has meant no.mood for anything Sad

Im really hoping it all improves over the next week or two.

PramelaAftersun · 24/07/2013 08:15

Sex? What's that? It's tit-wank central round here Hmm

MTBMummy · 24/07/2013 08:17

Welcome Iam

Soured second the view that you should get the GP to sign you off - pg issues don't count as sickness

mortified I'm in the same boat, thankfully DP is grateful to have a break from the sex every two days that we did when TTC.

Saw my GP this morning, she's sending me for an early scan in 2 weeks a they want to get the best view of baby and heart beat. Also having bloods done later this morning, to verify hormone levels. She mentioned that there's been a study in Sweden has shown that women who have more care and tests in the early stages are less more likely to go full term.

FrankelInFoal · 24/07/2013 08:19

Sex? Ha! We haven't done it pretty much since we conceived! To be fair though, DH lives away during the week and we spent two weeks apart a few weeks ago. It's not possible to feel in the mood when you are bloated/queasy/bleeding so I am waiting for the elusive second trimester sex addiction to kick in Grin

mimili · 24/07/2013 08:20

Morning All. Just catching up and checking in. This thread is moving so fast at the moment. Welcome to all the newbies.

I just wanted to say Soured, I definately think you should tell them. I have told my workplace off the record and I feel so much better for it, and actually they were really good about it. So pleased that I did. It's one less worry for me now.

rescoonetwothree · 24/07/2013 08:31

impatiently you're probably right, i think i just wasn't expecting it too!

pramela i would be happy with anything to be honest! ideally i'd like to have a sort of quick get the job done wedding with 10 or so people just real close family, then once we're able to have a 'proper' wedding - i hope he does too!

soured i agree with everyone, definitely tell them!

Lambchop14 · 24/07/2013 08:53

5 weeks today till my first scan! So excited!

Writerwannabe83 · 24/07/2013 09:02

I'm seeing my GP this morning to let her know I'm pregnant Smile Smile

What happens afterwards??

Does the local midwifery department get in touch with me??
And how long does that typically take??

Lambchop14 · 24/07/2013 09:13

Writer I told my GP who basically just advised me to take folic acid etc. I then had to contact the midwife myself and make an appointment for an initial assessment which is in 2 weeks then my scan at 12.5 weeks. I think they are all different though as lots of people on here seem to be having scans at earlier weeks than me.

LyraSilvertongue · 24/07/2013 09:21

Morning all

I haven't gone off sex at all, quite the opposite Smile Dp and I still doing it at least once a day, often more tmi?

PramelaAftersun · 24/07/2013 09:30

Sex every day?? Don't you have a telly?

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 24/07/2013 09:59

HAHAHAHAHAHA! Grin
