I didn't know about vitamin d. I will have to get some.

LittleMachine · 23/07/2013 16:24

Just catching up, glad everything is ok MummyPig!

faithfulandtruthful · 23/07/2013 16:31

Hello all,

Checking into thread no2.

I haven't really been too unwell, have started to feel slight MS symptoms but I haven't been sick. I am also very hungry (most of the time) but can only eat small meals. I have an aversion to chocolate, I can eat it but it doesn't taste nice, I don't like sweet things either, I have become addicted to raw fruit and veg. Not bad thing to have really. I have also worked out I feel better if I steer clear of fatty foods such as crisps (makes me feel more sick) and I have started taking a pro biotic and this also helps too.

I have my booking appointment at 9+1 at my local hospital my DH has insisted that he is coming to all my appointments, I'm not sure I want him at my booking in but since he is so keen and might be helpful to have an extra brain in the room, he will be coming along.

I guess I will find out at my booking appointment when my scan is, I want to wait as long as possible so the baby looks the most like a baby and not like a bean (the opposite of most on here but I am feeling laid back after an initial panic about MC).

Does anyone know the best point to mention the fact you want a home birth, is it best to ask asap or wait until later on, I am reading a home birth book that recommends telling asap but it is not necessarily the most up to date. The NHS stats say that the unit is equip for Home birth but I don't know anyone who has had one in the area (one of my friends has had two but she lives oop north). Any thoughts?

Please to hear so many who were worried about bleeding have had their beans confirmed as in residence.

Take Care ladies.

I wasn't told about Vit D either BUT she also didn't ask about my diet, which is bad as in my notes (which she probably didn't look at) it sates that I am wheat, Gluten and Dairy free, I will be bringing this up with my MW at my appointment.

So long story short went out and bought tesco finest preg vits three for two, which has folic and vit D in as well as lots of other 'stuff'.

AndieDisestablishment · 23/07/2013 16:49

Ice I think that's what my "period" was with DD; an implantation bleed.

F&T Mention you want a home birth straight away. They normally ask quite early on if you have any "thoughts on the birth" so you'll have opportuniy to tell them. They can keep an eye on anything that starts to make a homebirth look unlikely then too. With my DD I started to get a bit anaemic so my MW put me on a high dose of iron and willed my Hb levels up as she was desperate for me to get the birth I wanted. I'll be mentioning it fairly early on.

I'm taking FA&VitD along with Iron&VitC (I dont want low Hb again and VitC aids absorbtion) that I got along with some multi vits ages ago in a Boots 3 for 2. (Until you get a prescription for pregnacare it works out cheaper.)

goldielocks23 · 23/07/2013 17:05

Hi again, thanks for the nice welcome! I'm so relieved to have found this site as I was going mad not being able to talk about it with anyone (other than my DH, but he is busy at work!) It's so great just to know that I'm not alone, particularly regarding the emotional side of things, as this is something DH definitely can't understand!
Thoughts and prayers for all your bumps -Goldie

faithfulandtruthful · 23/07/2013 17:35

Andie Cheers will do. I have been reading lots of scary things about having to fight tooth and nail for a home birth, I have no intention to go into hospital unless me or baby is actually 'sick' as that is what hospitals are for, not healthy people. I will feel safer at home. Neither my DH or my Mother is terrible happy with the idea so I am praying the MW will be on my side, so to speak.

Goldie I felt the same, I don't want lots of people knowing early on so only my Mum (she knows because we live with her, we didn't feel we should keep it from her) and DH knows, it is also good to have a mix of people too lots of brains to pick and sympathy to be had.

Hey all, I've just spent about an hour reading this thread in it's entirety - and got all emotional for the ladies going for their scans today. I really got to get a grip on these pregnancy hormones!! ;) This is my first time being pregnant, it wasn't planned (was on pill, but had a stomach upset - same way my mum had me) but I'm coming round to the idea of it all. I've done no prep, but am attempting to catch up fast. I'm booked in for my first GP appointment this friday but as i'm as regular as clockwork i can pretty much predict my due date as 25th March. I'm 34 now but will be 35 on my due date. I totally feel like I'm late to the party right now!
Anyway, nice to meet you all/read your stories. It's been fantastically reassuring and educational.

HotCrossPun · 23/07/2013 18:12

Mummy I was holding my breath the as I was reading down to find out about your scan, i'm so pleased for you that everything is okay Thanks

Great news for you as well Saggy what a lovely Tuesday updates Smile

HamwidgeAlive · 23/07/2013 18:26

Ahh mummy that is fantastic news!

So sorry your meds aren't working Becca - I was in last week for the same and got really nervous when they ordered me down for a scan immediately in the morning. They could be a little more reassuring! So pleased all was well.

I am feeling vaguely human today, actually out of bed woohoo!

MummyPig24 · 23/07/2013 18:40

Hello to the new preggo ladies!

Thank you everyone for your support.

I'm seriously tired and hungry. Dd has been packed off to bed, for someone who was falling asleep at 4, she is doing a good job of being noisy! Dh is reading to ds on the sofa. Aww.

charley33 · 23/07/2013 19:07

Great news mummy and saggy!!

No spotting from me today so I'm a happy bunny n now chillin out with the what will be will be attitude!

Welcome all the newbies - good to have you all on the (little bit bonkers) March bus!!

charley33 · 23/07/2013 19:08

Oh and re Vit D I was told by my mw to start taking it if I wasn't already!

Sarahb8990 · 23/07/2013 19:16

Hi glad everyone is ok and all the scans have gone ok!

I had to have scan on Friday do to havin a lot of one sides pain. They could only see a start of a pregnancy and couldn't be sure it was failing so I had to have blood tests done. Had the results from them today and my hcg levels are that high they think I could be having multiples!! Which would explain all the pain and cramps. Not sure if that would be a good thing or a bad thing haha!!

How is everyone else gettin on?

rosyryan · 23/07/2013 19:25

Eep Sarah! How far along are you? When will you find out for sure? That would freak me right out. I guess statistically one of us should have twins at least! Grin

Big waves to all the newly diffed people.

rosyryan · 23/07/2013 19:27

I mean of course that it would freak me out if I were having multiples. If you were then I would think it was lovely Wink

Sarahb8990 · 23/07/2013 19:43

Haha rosy it's def freakin me out not knowin aswel lol! Ill find out 5th aug, it's the earliest they can scan me.

impatientlywaiting · 23/07/2013 19:59

I've just caught up with all of today's posts. I got a bit emotional reading about your scans Saggy and Mummy, i'm so so pleased everything was ok, and you got to see your beans.

I read about the Vitamin D thing on the NHS page, but weirdly when I mentioned it to my GP he said that I shouldn't be taking it. I got my iphone out and showed him the NHS page, and he grumbly admitted it must be right. He then spent the rest of the appointment trying to emphasise he knew what he was talking about. I felt a bit sorry for him, but it's pretty poor practice, I knew I was right as I'd seen the NHS page, but other people might have just taken his word and stopped taking the supplements.

Eeek Sarahb!! Multiples?? How terrifying, but incredibly exciting too. The 5th August seems so long to wait though!

I'm 4+4 today, I have mild period type pains every few hours or so, and my boobs are really tender, but haven't had any other symptoms yet. I don't want morning sickness or anything but would quite like some of the less annoying symptoms so that I know I'm definitely still pregnant. Sometimes I forget all about it.

rescoonetwothree · 23/07/2013 20:07

Feeling extremely emotional yesterday and today - yesterday was more angry and today I just feel a bit lonely and bleh. Me and my partner are engaged and we had brief conversations sort of saying wed both want to get married before the baby gets here, today I tried to have a serious conversation about this and he said it would be too stressful so it's a no right now.

I see where he's coming from but I think in my head its sort of like we'll let's get this done before the baby or we might never have a chance to 'get round to it' - I also really want us all to be a proper family and share the name etc.

I'm probably being over sensitive it's just made me really miserable as I wasn't expecting it and its not how I want things to be at all.

Sorry to be a moaning Molly!

PramelaAftersun · 23/07/2013 20:11

Brilliant news, MummyP!

Sarah, my HcG levels were massively high at 18 and 20 days past ovulation and I was told to expect twins. There was only one in there at my six week scan and I was almost disappointed Blush

My beach ball tits are colossal - and really perky. They were a DD before pregnancy but I suspect they're immeasurable right now Th'usband can't keep his hands off 'em

impatientlywaiting · 23/07/2013 20:13

Greymoose don't apologise. I love this thread, it's a place we can come and talk about anything we're thinking without telling the people who actually know us.
Hopefully some of your upset is pregnancy hormones (I just cried watching the video of Kate and William leaving the hospital with the baby). Have you asked him which bits he thinks will be stressful. Friends of mine got married when they were 5 months pregnant. The bride looked amazing, they had a meal for just their 30 closest friends in a restaurant and then had drinks in a really nice bar and other people popped in to give their congratulations. It was such a lovely day, planned in about 6 weeks and I think every bit as special as my wedding which we planned and saved up for for 2 years.

Perhaps if you talk with him about you wanting to be an official family all sharing the same name he might come round. There is a lot for all of us to be thinking about at the moment, so it might just be a bit much for him to take in.

PramelaAftersun · 23/07/2013 20:21

Grey, maybe your fiance just needs to think about this a little more before he agrees. Men are frigging weird when stuff like this needs to be rubber-stamped but I wouldn't become fretful just yet. Would you be prepared to marry in a registry office when you're pretty far gone? I would, in your shoes, and it would give your fella plenty of time to get his head around it. He really should not be digging his heels in for much longer; he has a responsibility, as your fiance, to get his finger out and to assuage your fears now baby is on its way.

Souredstoneshasasouredpebble · 23/07/2013 20:26

Hi all, hope you're well this evening.

I don't know what to do for the best. I'm still bleeding and cramping and really not coping with that stress and work but if I go sick I'm up for a disciplinary. Stressed doesn't come close Sad

LyraSilvertongue · 23/07/2013 20:34

Soured, I'd risk it and go sick. Your baby's welfare is more important. And your health. You need to take it easy right now. Maybe the doc can sign you off sick. Can they discipline you for that?

LyraSilvertongue · 23/07/2013 20:36

My boobs are getting ridiculously big (for me). I actually have cleavage for the first time since I stopped BFing DS2. They actually wobble when I walk is is a strange sensation for me.
