Have a lovely holiday Molly! I took DD away when she was 18mths and she now thinks aeroplanes always mean chocolate croissants! I definitely second frouby's advice to suspend normal rules around treat foods, as the croissant definitely seems to do the trick!

On her first two flights I did also give a pre-emptive 5ml of calpol as I got advice (probably from mn!) that their ears can get sore on a flight, so this stopped any pain before it could start. I have no idea if that helped but I do know that she has always been a great flier since, although we did only do the calpol on that first trip. In fact she usually just falls asleep from the noise of the plane.

I had an appt with a midwife this morning to discuss whether I will have a c-section or a VBAC. I have already discussed with a consultant and another midwife and was beginning to feel real pressure and disappointment from them because I was veering towards a c-section, so I was dreading this morning's midwife meeting. BUT, she was so lovely, not pushy at all and I still don't have to make a decision for a good few weeks - I could actually wait until 38wks before making my mind up!

Does anyone have any experience of VBAC vs. C-section? DD was a c-section because we discovered at 39wks that she was breech so had the section within a couple of days of finding that out.

itsliz congrats on your wee boy! Smile

hetsto I've only just allowed myself to buy something. They're drying on the line right now! Grin

Had my 22 week midwife appointment today. Midwife was very nice but she did call me darling about twenty times. I seems to get a lot of 'pets' and 'loves' and 'darlings' from the midwives, think it just be because I look about 12 my youthful good looks. I know it's petty to be bothered by it, but it does feel a bit patronising Confused

MrsShrubs · 20/08/2013 17:32

violet i picked up the bra extender this afternoon from M&S and put it on as soon as I got back to work and I have never felt so relieved before, the extra room makes such a difference I'm so happy. They come in a pack of 3 from M&S - you get black, white & natural for £5.

ccsays I think sometimes people do that because they forget quite easily your name because of the amount of people they see in a day and it's easier to just say 'love' as a blanket name for everyone!

CryingGivesMeAHeadache · 20/08/2013 17:37

I brought some bra extenders off ebay. Cost me £2 for 8. 5 two hook ones and 3 3hook ones. they came in red black white blue and tan They have been a life saver and I am once again comfy in my bras :D

PistachioTruffle · 20/08/2013 19:37

Awwwwww CC, look at the wittle tiny babyee clotheses on your washing line! Soo cute Grin

I bought quite a few bits from the next sale, some neutral and some girls/boys before the scan, thinking that when we found out at the anomaly scan I could return the ones I didn't need. Of course, as the little monkey didn't cooperate and we couldn't get it for the private gender scan for a couple of weeks, the time limit to return them lapsed, so I've now got the girls stuff on ebay. Thankfully I must have known as got far more boys than girls stuff! I still need a lot more though, as the bits I got I bought in a variety of sizes. I haven't washed anything yet either! I'm saving that job for a bit later on.
DH is on holiday next week, and is going to paint the nursery! It seems a bit early, but as he's got so much coming up with work it makes sense to do it sooner rather than later.
I've started with horrendous heartburn this past couple of days too, any recommendations? The Tums aren't really doing the job!
Congrats on your little boy ItsLiz!

weechops · 20/08/2013 20:25

Congrats itsliz on your boy! :)

Molly hope you gave a fab holiday.

I never knew you could get bra extenders! I so need to get some as mine are getting uncomfortable now and I'm not shelling out more cash until I need nursing ones.

Had a bit of a splurge yesterday - got lots of vests, sleep suits, little outfits with feet . And a lovely snowsuit from tkmaxx for a tenner!

weechops · 20/08/2013 20:26

Oh and pistachio - love heart sweeties help with my heartburn. Much nicer than tums or rennies too :)

Chilli81 · 20/08/2013 20:32

pistachio I had a bottle of gaviscon next to my bed during my last pregnancy which I used to gulp from in the middle of the night when I couldn't s sleep from the heartburn. hasn't kicked in yet in this pregnancy bit I know it will soon.
Molly good luck with the flight. very jealous of your holiday. We had an early one in June this year and it feels like such a long time ago. enjoy.
Hope everyone is feeling ok.

Chilli81 · 20/08/2013 20:34

crying great tip on the eBay bra extenders. hoping they still have them for that price as so far my attempts at saving money are going terribly.

CryingGivesMeAHeadache · 20/08/2013 20:38

bra extenders I brought

Brought them yesterday morning and they arrived in the post this morning!

MsCatShoes · 20/08/2013 21:30

Have a lovely holiday molly and that's a great tip about the lovehearts weechops thanks Smile I think we may even have the same snowsuit from TK too, managed to pick up a newborn sleeping bag today. We have managed to pick up a pine nursery furniture set secondhand and I can't wait for it to go properly into the nursery (once DH has done the flooring!)

I've been okay with bras so far across the back, it's been the leaping up the cup sizes that's been my problem - more people look at the boobs than the bump at the moment!

Is anyone getting reactions to music? Little munchkin seems to really like the Best of Queen I have going in the kitchen and kicks along.

Really should not be watching Midwives at the moment too ...

Dasie · 20/08/2013 23:23

Jumped on the bra extenders bandwagon! Thanx for the tip!!

I have started with the heartburn and I have to say I totally detest the mint or aniseed Gaviscon so any alternative recommendations will be gratefully received!! Grin

itsliz · 21/08/2013 10:56

Thanks for all the kind words, ladies Smile
Think I'm still slightly in shock as my instinct was telling me I was having a girl, right from the start... So excited to be having a little boy though!

Is that the last of our 20 week scans done now then?! If so then it's just buying cute things, having check-ups, growing, and growing a bit more to worry about now! Crazy!!!

I've ended up skipping the bra extenders completely and getting a maternity/ nursing bra. Sooo comfy! The only thing is that the cups come up quite high so I have to be careful when wearing low cut tops Blush
Out of interest, does anyone know if wearing underwired bras during pregnancy is as bad for you as everyone says it is?

itsliz · 21/08/2013 10:57

Oh and weechops, I may have just squealed a little bit at the thought of the little outfits with feet! Grin

MsCatShoes · 21/08/2013 11:46

My midwife said underwires were fine for as long as they were comfortable for you and to ditch as soon as they didn't.

Welcome to team blue itsliz!

mumoftwoboysS · 21/08/2013 14:39

pistachio I also rate the big bottle of gaviscon for heartburn- those free prescriptions are handy!

itsliz I've also heard that underwires are ok as long as they're comfy- tho my underwired bra- its not the underwire that's the problem it's that I'm falling out of them- so new maternity bras it is! And I agree, the ones I have come up high which is annoying- even with scoop neck tops they sometimes show. why do they have to look so granny-ish?? the two I have are hideous- am hoping I can at least get something a bit prettier... I didn't have any luck in mothercare last time round tho- they don't seem to stock smaller than average sizes just the huge ones- even online! I think mothercare discriminate against smaller chested gals like me!

Stom91 · 21/08/2013 15:54

hi all im 22 weeks and due on 21st december. first pregnancy.. having a lil girl :D .. its going soooo slooowww .. i wish december would hurry up, i just want to meet her!! .. im thinkin about water birth? anyone else? x

Roselau · 21/08/2013 16:20

I've been in nursing bras since week 8. my boobs exploded in the first trimester. I cannot wear anything else.
I got a pack of two from John Lewis for £28 I think, they are not too bad looking actually. I mean it's obviously not super cute because they are a 30GG (ugh, I'm very petite with MASSIVE bazongas - makes it hard to find bras that fit properly). Hopefully they will still fit for breastfeeding, but I hear they get even bigger. I think I'm going to tip forward.

Anyways welcome stom91! I have the same due date and also little girl :) I has thoughts of water birth, but I'm moving to the US, so first need to see what the facilities look like over there.

Stom91 · 21/08/2013 16:41

thanks Bold:Roselau wow thats awesome! have you got a name yet? we are calling our girl Amelia :) wow id love to go to the US x

mumoftwoboysS · 21/08/2013 16:46

rose actually I have a few nursing bras- didnt think of them, will dig them out and see if they fit. Yup they do get even bigger! When my milk came in I went from around a B cup to a D (the only place I got stretch marks was on my boobs from the sheer stretching within a day!) so of you're starting at GG you may well tip over-lol! (Your comment made me laugh!)

I'd like a water birth but it was on my first two birth plans and I didn't get one so I'm not setting my heart on it in case I can't have one again. First time the room was taken already (they only had one birthing pool) second time I didn't quite make if to the hospital! Who knows tho, maybe this time I'll have time and the pool will be free!

Chilli81 · 21/08/2013 18:25

roselau I hate to break it to you but once the milk comes in your boobs will double in size. mine did. I'd always been a respectable c/d cup but went up to a g!

Chilli81 · 21/08/2013 18:29

welcome stom91. I also wanted a water birth but the only two birthing rooms at the hospital were busy when I went in. the midwife was very good about it and I spent a while in the big bath in the en suite in the labour ward. you really can't plan your birth so while it's good to have an idea of what you want it's sensible to be flexible on the day and that way you're not disappointed if it doesn't go exactly as you'd planned.

Gannetgob · 21/08/2013 19:48

I haven't had chance to read right back, so just sticking with a couple of recent topics!

I would kill for some of those bra extender things now, but I'm on holiday so I will just have to wait! Luckily I only have to wear a bra for a few hours - breakfast and dinner each day!

I don't know how I feel about a water birth. Some silly questions - does the water just go cold (have to keep topping up with hot) or does it keep the temp up somehow? How long do you stay in for - all the way through? Just near the end? (I don't like getting wrinkly hands and feet!)

In terms of baby stuff I've bought, I feel like I have gone a bit mad! I have been buying bundles of clothes on eBay and so have about 150 items (everything from newborn to 6-9 months) and it cost me about £25. Most of it is very good quality, there are a few bits that I've chucked but I'm impressed overall! On top of that, my mum said she would wash it all for me, so that's great too!

I have also bought a glider nursing chair for £30. It's great quality and similar ones are £150 - £200 in the shops. So rather pleased with that too. Does anyone have one? Not sure how much I'll use it, but can't grumble for £30!

How are people sleeping? I'm doing ok but i always wake up with my hips, bump and back aching. I still find myself waking up lying on my back too - I use pillows but I'm just too fidgety! Should I be concerned about lying on my back? Am I alone?

MsCatShoes · 21/08/2013 20:05

Gannetgob - great bargains, there's just so much on ebay atm!

I keep rolling onto my back and fidgeting in my sleep. Just when I think I've trained myself on the left with a bump pillow, I kick off the pillow and wake with my hip almost numb. Any tips on sleeping would be welcome.

Stom91 · 21/08/2013 20:37

Yea I'm just going with the flow. I'd like it but not going to set my heart on it.... I think they top it up with warm water when it goes cold. And u can be in the as long or as little as u like... . My boobs did grow abit but they seem to have stopped now.... until a few months time i bet lol. I'm really struggling with the tiredness.. Dr signed me off with exhaustion... I can just about have a shower do the washing up then I need a nap cos I'm shattered... Really gettin me down :(
